Not sure how realistic it is but something I'd love is for the start tile to just have a country road running through it instead of a dead end and either you buiild a simple exit into the town, or just upgrade it into your initial collector and build straight off of it.
I would actually like to see maps with no highways, just single carriageway roads/national roads to connect the region initially. Which is more realistic since then towns can develop around these roads, using them as high streets which then grow and merge to form a city. Then when the city is big enough and warrants them, highways can be added and be built around the geography of the city, rather than the other way around, where a city is built around a highway, which isn't realistic. It wasn't possible in CS1, but now in CS2 you can add outside connections so it is. It looks like I'll have to make my own highway free starting maps tho, as they all seems to have them
@@medafan53Very few cities have started from a highway interchange, even the newest Western cities usually started from national roads or railroad stations. If anything it’s more realistic. Workshop maps for the first game can start with small roads, so I hope it’s possible in CS2 as well
I like in CS2 you are encouraged to build your road layout initially, instead of a few dirt roads to keep costs down. Also utilities are under the roads, where they belong, as some would say : )
My thoughts exactly. Especially with dirt roads in C:S1 being ever so slightly narrower than regular roads, which results in the rebuilding of zoned buildings and need to move service buildings, once you start replacing the curves. Also, I'm very "visual" in that I have a problem imagining what I'd like my city to look like when unable to "draw" on the map. There's a mod that adds free, colorful roads in C:S1 for planning purposes, but I'm glad to see it won't be needed in C:S2. The release cannot arrive fast enough.
utilities under the roads are such a lifechanger. there was nothing strategic about how you organised them manually in C:S1 so this just saves you all the hassle and it's one of the good changes c:s 2 brought around
The tutorials are coming out, almost time to get the game! I don't expect the game to be perfect out of the box, no game is, but I am looking forward to a new city builder like this!
By far, one of the most exciting 'little things' about cities skylines 2 vs the original... Starting your city without 2 highways coming in when you don't even have highways unlocked to extend them!
I would love a Planning Mode, so you can plan out your roads for future development until you have funds. As this would save money incase you need to make changes.

So according to Steam for DLC: there will be a San Francisco set the day the game comes out (you get it with the Ultimate Edition.) Later this year will be a Beach Properties asset pack. Next year is Urban Promenades and Modern Architecture content packs, and then a Bridges and Ports expansion pack. And a bunch of radio stations for the game too. Hope that helps 👍
I remember when I was at highschool in 2016 and couldn't even afford the base game (my parents would not lend me any debit card for such a purpose). Now things have changed and I already prepurchased its secuel ultimate edition 🥰
I preordered this back in June and I’m just counting down the days till the 24th !!!!!!! But the more dev diaries I see the more I worry it’s going to be too much for my potato pc 😂😂
1:37 Why is the graphics look so bad on the river bank, jagged... and why so much light reflect from water ? Did the devs really look at it and go, ah that looks nice, lets release the game ..
It's not released yet. Admittedly we're close, but the version in this video could easily be two months old, and minor graphical glitches can absolutely be fixed in that time. Did/will they? idk, we'll see in two weeks.
How to start your city: Release the game so we can actually start our city!! Still 11 days of waiting, but so many videos of you, UA-cam partners etc. Give us the game!
Thanks OP. What I found helps with performance on my mini is to switch from full screen to "windowed" full screen. Set Depth of field and Volumetricks Quality to disabled. Set Level of Detail to very low and turn off motion blur.
Playing right now and after the updates everything seems fine! I like it a lot! Almost plays like simcity but then better and with stunning graphics! Love it so far!
Could we get an option to CHOOSE the initial tile? so that one can start on different parts of the maps? That first tile being a special one of tile that automatically connects to the nearest highway and powerline?
True. Small buildings like low density residential and commercial should use scaffoldings like the original CS did, then high rise buildings should use the tower cranes. And yes, some extra detail on construction processes would be great.
Saying that traffic determines pathing including congestion/traffic is more than enough reason for me to buy this game. It drove me nuts how I could have multiple roads between city sectors and everybody would sit in a line at a single road instead.
There should be an option to have above power lines on the roads when placing them. Or possibly in one of the achievements/ leveling up unlock below power lines. Otherwise what’s the point of above power lines
I hope for some maps where you don't have highways running through. Cities usually started as villages that started typically near an inn or near a river and grew from there
I will play it this way. Only a few industries, housing, some places to buy stuff. Then let it grow, street by street. Small streets. Then reorganize and expand. I wont start with a basic empty layout. Services will be imported.
Back in the SC4 days, we used to be able to select certain buildings and make them 'historical', which stopped them from being upgraded or redeveloped. Is this a feature we will see at some point in the future?
