Now this is how you do a 10 minute "things i wish i knew" video. Loaded with helpful tips ranging from simple to more complex. No time fillers or extended intro. Thank you for this!
transit dee-pawts
I came here for the dee-poes, but all I got were dee-pawts.
@@abysal311 I need to see where the duh-poes went
Cooking in a dee-pawt is phenomenal
@@abysal311dee-poes are only available on a European map 🤣
Well you all need a lesson then as it's actually deh-poh
Just a minute in and this is a very comprehensive intro to tips for the game, awesome!
3:04 yoooooooooo you can just plop a whole damn interchange on top of the highway and it just... figures it out? That's incredible.
It depends on the highway roads but generally if it can it will, yes. Curved highways make it difficult.
Never worked for me , there’s always that one little peace of highway that you end up deleting before it let you place the interchange 😅😅😅
Here is a menu in case you, like me, keep coming back - not divided into ALL the tips but a good separation. But What the video you are the AH for not watching it all at least once

should be "transit dee pawts"
why you so nice?
Thank you. ^^
Great work editing! This 10 minutes is DENSE with good info.
Honestly gang, I'm just so excited to keep playing this game.
Depot is pronounced "Dee-poe" or "Depp-oh" NOT "dee-pot" or "dee-pawt".
this is the CS2 content I've been looking forward to!
EAMON💙
Great tips here, I watched a lot of videos already and still there were several things here I didn't know about. Thanks!
Heads up, "Depot" is pronounced differently than that, more like "Depoe"
"Dee-poe"
Was looking for this comment 😅 - But North Americans pronounce a lot of words differently.
@@EVLitterPicker I can confirm it's also pronounced that way in North America
@@EVLitterPicker - I would not have said anything if it were pronounced "deh-poe" which I have heard from UK English speakers. But what was on the video was "deh-pot".
It's French, so the final letter is usually silent, in this case the T.
Depot is not "dee-pot".
Depot = deh-po, or even dee-po.
The "T" is silent.
Did my like button just light up, when you said "like Button" in the video? Damn that is new to me.
The ay you say Depot got me. The deeeeeeeeeepot xD
Subscribed because I think this is the first time I’ve seen a woman play this game and I was wondering why there aren’t more lady UA-camrs in CS.
Also I appreciate you telling us not to listen to UA-camrs telling us we are playing the game wrong and I like that you encourage us to do what we want. Thank you. ❤
There are dozens of us! ... Maybe?
I definitely recommend checking out Joy Builds Cities and Few Candy. Two women I look up to quite a bit in the C:S-sphere. : )
Thanks for the kind words!
An alternate option to disabling the mousepointer lock, as i appreciate the function.
If you just press escape to bring up the ingame menu for settings, save, exit and so on, the lock is temporarily removed.
This makes good sense as you also temporarily pause the game while doing so.
Windows key works too
The fact the like button turned rainbow when you said to "like the video" made it even better
Love this video. Straight to the point. No long annoying intro. Good job!
the fact the like part of the youtube button highlighted when you said about the like button is awesome!
Subscribed for deepawts and instant motion blur annihilation. It's the right choice and Ned's to be done right away, no exceptions!
This is extremely helpful, Toadie! Thank you for this!!
I’ve played the game for around 20 hours now and there are some things in here that were actually helpful and that I will be implementing! Definitely deserves a like.
i was looking forward to the hills. i like to build in hilly areas. unique bridges in the hills to build your city. thank you for the tips and the very informative video. have a great day everyone.
Great video! There's some really useful tips here.
Just by the way depot has a silent T.
In Canada, the T is often pronounced.
@@bentyler9571You learn something new everyday. I'd never heard it said that way before 6 months ago!
A professionally made, long, no-nonsense list of tips without obnoxious music? Subscribed
Great video. No filler, all info.
This is a really good video, Straight to the point and will help people when they start in a few days. Definitly earned a like and sub.
You can get 60-70% fps gain by setting Dynamic Resolution Scale Quality to Custom and choosing FSR 1.0 at 75% (1080p) with not really a noticeable loss in visual fidelity.
Brand new to the Cities: Skylines franchise and my goodness did this help a ton. Thanks for the awesome tips, especially the tips involving roads.
Also disable V-sync apparently helps a ton
I wasnt currently playing the game while watching this video, but what you suggested at 3:41 was one of the biggest frustrations that I have had, so I immediately opened the game and changed the setting just so that I could like this video while the game was playing without having to hit the windows key lmfao XD
This video reminds me that I don’t really know cities Skyline to the point that I imagine it. Thank you for all the tips.
thanks for this video. youre my hero now. these spaces in the zoning on the streets turned me crazy
This is the first and so far only place I've seen the double-click trick to adjust zoning! Gonna try it tonight! Awesome!
Also if you have your 'game cursor mode' set to "Confined to window" yet you easily want to get out of your screen to get to another app, simply hit esc or the cog in the upper right corner to get to the menu. Now your cursor can roam freely. Once you get back into game and out of menu, you're back to edge scrolling.
Watching videos about this game as I wait for it to finish downloading. I love the Canadian pronunciations of 'about' and 'depot'!
on point with the "dont let youtubers say you are palying wrong".. these people can be annoying af
I got bored of all the games I used to play until now and redownloaded Sim City. Since it has been abandoned almost from the start, I decided to give Cities Skylines a try, but the more videos I watch the more scared I get, it seems very complex and difficult.
I normally watch info videos like this at 1.5x or 1.75x, I actually had to drop the speed to 1.25x due to the amount of info and your concise presentation. Good job!
As a detail builder from CS1, I have been struggling trying to figure out how to build in the new game. I have never been a big player with budgets or planning, I just want to build pretty cities that look really cool and function basically. I feel like CS2 is more about city management than building, leaving me feel a bit left out. I am not sure if, after buying this and playing it for only 10 hours, if I have really figured it out yet. Thanks Toadie for a great video that is very helpful for the way I build. Great as always.
After the 10 minutes I had forgotten tips 1 to 20, but it was still a great video. Many thanks for that
The path tip is awesome! Only serious gameplay-related gripe I've had thus far is the way zoning works. Thanks!
I really hate the scale of service buildings in C:S2
Actually, I hate that there’s only one scale. They’re too big! They don’t fit in dense urban environments!
I've been playing this game since the launch of CS1, I learned SO SO much from this, Thank you so much for these amazing game changing things. I have so many cities to rebuild now, I can't wait.
Lol dee pawt
Would love a video on how water works when landscaping. I gave up building rivers in the first game because I couldn’t figure out the physics of the water.
Also is landscaping free? Or at least toggable to be free?
Landscaping is free!! Which I love. : )
I'd love to provide a video on how water works when landscaping! It definitely feels a bit different than C:S 1 and I don't have it nailed down yet, but one day for sure.
@@ToadieZzz will keep an eye out for it!
This video is definitely going to my new C:S2 playlist 😊. Gonna reference it when I start playing
This might literally be the most important cities skylines 2 video on the internet
8 months on and still brilliant, thank you.
9:22 - Importing resources other than electricity/water isn't from your budget, but from the companies budget. Also increases traffic because of more trucks going from outside the city to inside, instead of domestically.
So, while the statement is true, you will make more money overall by targeting the resources with deficit, it's not because you pay the import costs. The company that has resources available locally pays less, resulting in less bankrupt companies. And you make tax money out of the produced resource (you obviously don't make it out of the imported one)
Edit: List of the only things player pays out of their pocket, taken from ExpenseSource enum:
Subsidies, LoanInterest, ImportElectricity, ImportWater, ExportSewage, ServiceUpkeep
After you told about bug with mouse stuck, my subscribe button was glowing with rainbow!
Maybe it’s a sign…
3:45, when u said "to press the like button" my like button glowed up!! HOW?! Thats a rlly good feature on yt
Thank you so much for this video! I'm FINALLY getting around to starting on CS2 and this was a wonderful find! :)
2:10 That is how one can place crosswalks anywhere as well.
Double-clicking apparently creates a node in the street which can be used to add e.g. a pedestrian crosswalk. For instance, so that you can remove the one in a busy intersection and place one further down the line
Have a feeling I will be watching this video a few times over the next few weeks
I found out that you actually can zone residential really really far away from schools and Students will literally walk hours across the map, along the highway or train line. If there is no bus or train they rather walk than not going to school or work
I've never seen that much tipps in a 10 minutes video which still is entertaining. Well done and thank you!
Wow, these are real helpful. And making a wall like that is much easier then other UA-camrs explained! Thanks a lot!
The segment to like this video is my favorite part.
Wow not just a clickbaity video with obvious things - Thank you very much for this
PS. I Loved the "Dee Pawt" overlay :D
💙💙💙
I haven't played CS1 since 2018 so this might be things everyone knew except me:
The wind blows stronger closer to high ground so build a hill if you're using wind turbines.
You can cheese the first few levels by building road and deleting it for 100% returned money. (Make a 'Good start' save afterwards.)
You can terraform a pool and fill it with sewage. I'm planing to make it power a dam. :)
10mins and full of information. Well done and thank you.
i wasnt expecting such good times, thanks for this video!
OMG...Actually so much useful info in this video! Awesome job, thank you!
OMG I DIDNT KNOW LIVESTOCK COULD GO ANYWHERE I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST ROCKS THANK YOU!
I liked and subscribed I love cities skylines and now cs2:)
This game is insane. I'm pretty sure my city is going to fall apart, but I'm surprised I've gotten as far as I have already, lol. Thing I found that's helped was producing as much electricity as I could early on to start making money quickly
Wonderful video! I didn't know about double clicking with the same road type to rearrange the grid, I'll be making good use of that now! I've subscribed too, looking forwards to more CS2 content as I learn the game 😄
Thx for the tipps! ... But wait a moment ... Me listening to a youtuber telling me not to listen to youtubers. ... Halp! 😆
But srsly, sad that there a still mean people out there when it comes to games.
You could say I've created a... 😎 Paradox.
(Sorry.)
oh wow.. alot of this i had no idea that you could do. Thank you for the tips and tricks to this game.
Things I wish I knew before the game releases XD I miss the days when there were surprises
For mouse to second monitor you can also hit the '~' key then the mouse is unbounded and can move to another monitor!
Awesome video which focusses on the keyparts, without placing the ego of the youtuber in the center of it. Thx! 🙏😅
That mouse to "like" Segway 😉 I loved it , Nice tips !
I wanted to drop a comment telling you how much i appreciatte this video! I keep coming back to it to figure out new things i get struck on trying to fix! thank you
8th advice is exactly what i need,. now i play game with paths and roads for create needed network, but it possible much easy way
If you do another one here is one Thing that helped me:
When you terraform arround a Bridge the Pillars often end up in the Ground and create these kinda Krater arround them. But you can use the exchange Road Tool with the same Road (which the Pillar belong too) and press a replace a few Times. The Pillars then kinda adjust to the terrain height. :)
Oh wow, there are some fantastic tip there Toadie, I have saved this video to re-watch when I have downloaded the game. One very very small criticism tho 😯 It was only a 10 minute video, so why did you talk so quickly and seem to rush through the content, it easily could've been twice as long giving the viewer more time to let your advice soak in. But hey, it's still a great video - 5⭐'s, thanks for sharing 👌
Brim! Appreciate this. I always have anxiety over not wanting to waste the audience's time! It's a hard balance. : ) But thanks for reassuring me I could put the brakes on a bit, haha.
Thanks, great video, I'll have to watch a few times to process it all. Performance issues aside (which I'm sure will be ironed out) I'm really excited for this release tomorrow.
I'm not getting CS: 2 until the November Sale, I heard it's really buggy, so I want to give time for the devs to deal with that, and spend less then 50 USD on a single game, (I usually get steam games at around 10-35 USD)
On Off ramp by adding an extra lane was a nice hack
Good tips, I didn't know that the stones industry does not need a reservoir. Thanks for sharing 👏👏👏
3:42 yes!!
De-pot? De-pow! ...That's how you say depot.
Pretty sure she's just trolling y'all lol
Great video, definitely gonna come back to this after launch!
... also the completely unnecessary silent T is a travesty, I feel you
i followed just because of the mouse cursor tip , no more alt tab or endless scrollling to nowhere as you turn up the volume in a video
Worthy 10 min watch packed with good info
Alright I would listen to these tips but you did such a good job telling me not to listening what UA-camrs tell me that I’m going to do the exact opposite of them! 😂
This guy gets it. ; )
Your use of the word "smarmy" made my day
3:41 This is why there is a thing called Alt+Tab or Win+Tab
This was absolutely perfect. Thank you
liked and subscribed solely on account of the "confine to window" option tip
god, what a brilliant video. Straight to the point and actual useful tips! I wish I could give more than one thumbs up.
Not gonna let some youtuber tell me how to live. So I'm gonna listen to all these tips since you said I shouldn't listen to you.
So much good stuff in here. Please do more of these.
Wow great work! You summarized a lot of great and useful Tipps and also very compressed to the point. Love it!
This is gonna be the holy book for skyline2
🙏
Oh man, this is gold! Thanks Toadie!!!!
The reminders about not letting pushy youtubers tell you what to do earned my sub :)
Volumetric effects was the biggest performance hit for my pc
Thank you very much for this straight to the point information. Nicely done video. Greetings from Mexico.
Hello from Canada! Thank you. : )
I really Like this Video. A Lot of usefull tips. Sadly I've lost my current map I spent nearly 25 hours on due to a bug which makes my Money Tick down endlessly by one "Dollar"
why is north america in the southern hemisphere
that is literally why it's not called south america
Checks map... The equator literally goes through brazil. By god he right, get this man a job at CO quick.
It's North American style buildings, in a southern hemisphere climate and seasons.
