I'm content as a female and I feel like if I were born as a male, I would also be content. Gender isn't a huge deal for me. But as a person of mixed ethnicity, I can identify with the struggle. People always try to categorize me as one or the other and have a hard time accepting that I'm multiracial. Especially since I physically look like one race more than the other.
CountryFine No multiracial would mean several races were involved in her creation.Unless her mother had several men impregnate her and they all all are her biological father its biracial.
Mitsuru Kirijo One parent can be biracial and the other of a single race. That would make a multiracial baby. In my case, my mom is Asian and my dad is black and Asian so I can only call myself biracial. If my mom was white then I would be multiracial.
They are! It's a constant struggle really. In some places laws are being passed to protect trans people with that kind of stuff, a lot of places offer alternative bathrooms. If it's really a problem to have us go into the bathrooms we identify with, then there should be more gender neutral bathrooms! Sometimes it's even a threat for our safety to go in the bathroom we identify with, but slowly, things are getting better!
Yes, they are. There needs to be gender-neutral bathrooms in all public places. There are too many assaults that happen in bathrooms because of ignorant people. So yeah, it's "a bitch".
Guess what? Not only are they pretty terrible already, but there are bills currently trying to get passed in KY basically saying that you have to use the public restroom that matches your genitalia. So the guy in this video would use the girls restroom. Or be arrested.
Right. Like sometimes. I feel like a guy, but when I eat too much I feel like a fat cow. So I would Identify myself as half man half cow. Omg! Stfu. You're either male or female. Fucking papers take time to feel it already. Now you want to add more circles to bubble in -___-
So if I feel I'm a toaster in my head does this mean I'm a toaster ? ...and also , I'll probably be classified with some mental problem . Personally I used to think its all good whatever , but the more into it I look and the more logically I think . If your born into a male or a female body and u think in your head that you should be women or man , isn't that kinda crazy to anyone else ? I'm not calling the people crazy but personally anyone who wants to or does identify has another gender I think there is a deeper problem behind . And for each person , that deeper problem may be different . But hey don't want anyone to get offended just trying to add a different perspective to this highly one sided channel
I hate it when people say they don't understand gender and say "let's just be human". Males are different to females physically, hormonally, and emotionally. Males and females have different parts, stop ignoring that fact.
macaronipizza " Males are different to females physically, " That is sex. Male and female are sexes. Sexes are not the same as genders. This is a fact.
TheAwded When was the last time you looked at a dictionary? Here, let me give you a direct passage from a dictionary. Oxford English Dictionary Gender The state of being male or female (*typically used with reference to social and cultural differences rather than biological ones*): Usage The word gender has been used since the 14th century as a grammatical term, referring to classes of noun designated as masculine, feminine, or neuter in some languages. The sense ‘the state of being male or female’ has also been used since the 14th century, but this did not become common until the mid 20th century. Although the words gender and sex both have the sense ‘the state of being male or female,’ they are typically used in slightly different ways: sex tends to refer to biological differences, *while gender refers to cultural or social ones.*
TheAwded I'm amazed that you don't know what social and cultural mean. It was pretty clear. Here, I will highlight it for you. *"sex tends to refer to biological differences, while gender refers to cultural or social ones."*
***** Cisgender? I'm sorry, but being fine with the gender you are born with is the case for the majority of the people, thus making it the norm thus making it normal. It's pretty basic etymology. People who need words like 'cisgender' are only doing that to take a piss at the rest of the world because they are so discontent with themselves. Normal just means according to norms which are dictated by the majority, the majority is happy with their sex/gender thus it is NORMAL.
***** You can say what you want, but normal means according to norm, and we all know very well what that is. And not being 'normal' doesn't make you weird Victoria, that makes you different. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with being different. Don't be afraid of being different.
There is nothing wrong with the term 'cisgender'. Just because the majority of people is cis doesn't mean we can't call them cisgender. It's like 'heterosexual', I don't see what is wrong with the term
Why are people fighting in the comments? Why can't we all just let people be and do what they want to do with their own bodies, not everyone is the same and they're not hurting _anyone_ else.
Olivia Mitchell Just because you don't agree with something, doesn't mean it's idiotic. You must stop thinking like that while you're still young, because otherwise you will grow up a spoiled brat thinking that you know it all.
Frivvy Barage Why are you mad about people changing their gender but not getting a nose job? A boob job? Liposuction? Donor insemination? You're being a hypocrite.
How do you "feel like a gender?" And if gender is indeed a social construct, then why associate things stereotypically connected to the gender you feel like?
Caitlin P. Gender is based purely on chromosomes. However, preferences of a person can be similar to the social construct of typical gender preferences or actions.
As far as I get it, gender is a social construct loosely rooted in biology that has come to hold a lot of importance, rules and expectations of people. In societies with more than two genders you could actually choose your gender and with that the role you play in society. You feel like a gender, because you agree with (some) traits that are associated with it. I think the recent gender hype comes from the dissonance of freedom in action and mind. We can do a f*cking lot of things without having to fear legal punishment but only a fraction of these things are accepted by "society". It would be perfectly legal to wear pyjamas for work, to wear a dress as a man, to not wear a bra as a woman. If I were a woman and preferred men's clothes I'd maybe struggle to find a job, be taken serious, find a partner. Because even though I legally can do things, which others do as well, I get to have negative side effects, based on something I did not choose to begin with. It's... one group gets to do, be, feel, think something that you want but cannot have for some stupid society rule. For f*cks sake, I hear stories of boys in kinderrgarten, that get bullied and/or punished _by their caretakers_ because they play with dolls/like pink/want to dress up as princesses.
I would just like to point out that nonbinary is an existing thing. I myself feel like I have no female or male feelings inside me. I identify as agender.
+Esmeralda Tinajenn I myself do not feel feminine or masculine. I may do things that people see as "feminine" or "masculine," but I don't feel either. Enjoying things that society has assigned a gender to is not the same as being that gender.
Brianna Alexis If a woman underwent surgery and mutilated her body to portray herself as man, how would you feel if she didn't reveal that information to you before intimacy? I personally find the idea terrifying and disgusting, but if you don't then you shouldn't assume that everyone else doesn't.
Jaxon Swain What you don't understand is that even if someone is stealth (not openly trans) they'd most likely tell their partner that they're trans. Everyone believes that if you live stealth you never tell anyone but that's not true. It's a common question in the trans community when in your relationship is it the right time to tell your partner
I identify as a girl. I wear boy clothes and shoes, even socks. I don't wear makeup, I always wear my hair Ina ponytail and always wear sports bras. The way I see it is if someone feels they don't belong in their body, they can change, they deserve to feel normal, they're human too contrary to what a lot of people say.
You cant change your gender... you might say you can but you can't, no matter how much testosterone you pump into you or whatever you do, you CAN NOT change it. Scientifically anyways. Girls:Pair of X chromosomes Boys: Pair of XY chromosomes. You cant change that. Deal with it.
***** "pedophiles go into bathrooms in order to prey" i'm sorry hun you do realize that the chances of a trans person getting attached in public bathrooms are higher than the chances of a trans person attacking somebody else? can you process that, or is it too much for your ignorant little brain to handle?
Sex and gender and two different things. Sex is your reproductive organs and gender is the was you perceive yourself sexually. Ex. Someone who has a penis has a sex of male, but chose to be more on the feminine side thus the chosen gender is female.
That makes no sense.. They can't be Male and Female, why do people have to make things complicated?? If you have a penis you're a MAN and if you have a vagina you're a WOMAN PERIOD!
Gender: the state of being male or female -Merriam Webster Dictionary. Gender: The state of being male or female -Oxford Dictionary Gender: the state of being male or female -Google So are you arguing with these dictionaries? The language is there, what's the point in changing it? Gender has had a definition for a long time now. Why try change it?
Hi, I am Elliot and 14. I am female to male transgender and just now coming out. I hope to be fully out to everyone by the end of the school year so, by my first year of high school I can HOPEFULLY identify as completely as male. It would be nice for society to have more understanding about what being transgender is becuase it is a huge pain when people (my sister) says, it is either a phase or that we are just "pretending". Yes, becuase im totally pretending so I have to get bullied and harassed. I'm really pretending so that I have to spend thousands of dollars....*sarcastic* totally!
hey me too! im really hoping to be fully out and living male by the time I start high school, but living in a catholic family who are having a really hard time wrapping their heads around how I'm feeling, its probably gonna be later than sooner. anyways, I wish you the best of luck! if you ever need a brother to bro you out, im here!
+Finn the Human Well, I am a female, I identify as that, I just meant some days are more masculine or I feel like just throwing on clothes. I AM a female, sometimes I just feel like other things
I don't think you understood what I meant by that. Say there's someone who doesn't feel like being a man regardless of the dong between his legs. You ask that someone how you feel about yourself. If it happens to be that he/she feels like the opposite gender then good. Then happens what I meant he/she picks how he/she wants to dress, act and behave. Those are things that I call "picking the construct that you feel like belonging in" (THAT IS BECAUSE SOMEONE CLAIMED GENDER BEING A SOCIAL CONSTRUCT)
Best part of this video was Rocco saying don't make a big deal about it. Because while it may be a big deal to you, it's not about you. Loved the video. Keep on keepin on with trans content buzzfeed.
it is actually really interesting how some people feel the need to Break Down the entire "system" or the meaning of Gender just because they want to feel like what they're doing is natural. What is natural and amazing is birth! If you were born with a penis you are MALE if you were born without, you are FEMALE. That's it. You don't even need to find ways around it like.. "gender is self identification" NO. it just honestly feels like you are making up exuses for something. Be blunt about it. "I'm a girl, but i don't like it, i wanna grow a dick! it is not natural cuz i wasn't born with it, but from now on call be Jack"
Il Wu "If you were born with a penis you are MALE if you were born without, you are FEMALE." A very narrow view, and sometimes false. " "gender is self identification" NO. " Yes, actually. It is a scientific fact that gender and sex are different things.
Il Wu that isn't entirely it though, gender is this broad spectrum besides the binary of male and female. transgenders are just a part of that spectrum, and some may not even choose to go through hormonal therapy or different surgeries in order to 'pass' as the gender they identify. unless you personally identify as something other than male or female you really don't have the right to speak for others experiences let alone tell them what they should and should not identify as.
StarreLite whatever other "broad spectrum besides the binary of male and female" you are talking about... the product of it is still a submultiple of Male and Female!
It is a sad reality that UA-cam comments, in general, are overwhelmingly negative. That being said, I am glad that Buzzfeed continues to create such positive, informative videos despite the rabble. :)
26 years ago, I was born as a girl, but I always felt like a boy ... Somedays i feel more like a girl in my head, sometimes I feel more like a boy in my appearance. But I don't want to choose between the two ! I'm fine like this. What makes me uncomfortable is the social pressure, constantly "forcing" me to identify as a girl OR a boy ... Also, as a straight girl, it's hard to explain that I only like boys, even if I look like one ... Let's just say that I'm trying to keep the best things in male and female, make a mix with it, and call myself androgynous !
Shayne Adeline your confused what? What of theirs is confused? What you mean is you're confused. You are trying to say you are confused, which they are not.
Really? How often do you do kereotypes and when was your last one? Last I checked, there are a lot of people walking around with non-standard chromosome pairs and you know what? No. one. knows. There are plenty of women who are XY and men who are XX. *gasp* The horror.
nStach Actually you can be born with the opposite chromosomes! It's called being intersex. To quote the famous Wikipedia "Intersex, in humans and other animals, is a variation in sex characteristics including chromosomes, gonads, or genitals that do not allow an individual to be distinctly identified as male or female. Such variation may involve genital ambiguity, and combinations of chromosomal genotype and sexual phenotype other than XY-male and XX-female.[1][2]"
Some people do define transgender as a type of intersex, they just say it's isolated to the brain being of the other sex and no other parts (fMRI can reveal this).
Oh lord, why did I have to look in the comment section. Why. Why can't people just leave others alone and let them live how they want to. Why. My faith in humanity is gone.
This video will help me Telly family I am pansexual. That sexuality is pretty much unheard of. You are either gay or straight to my family. Bi is also acceptable. But something like pan is hard to explain. Also, the guy in this video is so hot 😘 lol
I can admit that I'm an 18 year old straight female, I can understand gay, bisexual, transgender, but for some reason I don't understand pansexual very well. I don't judge you based on who you are attracted to. My motto is you love who you love.
SarahsCraftyCreation all of you guys or girls really need to give up and end your lives pansexual lol they're making new shit everyday liberals and hipsters are destroying america you guys hate the flag hate anything that shows pride in america deep down you guys hate yourselves
I am aware of pansexual, but I am still confused on what it means. Does it just means you like everyone? No matter their gender? Or if they even conform to a gender? I haven't read the comments, but I just wanted to ask. I congratulate you. I honestly think loving a human being is loving a human being and we don't need labels. However we are all on the spectrum sadly. I can't wait for the day where coming out isn't a thing.
No you forgot that this is a safe space. You can't use facts or common sense here it's very triggering to some. Recognize your priviledge and be better
Samurthott your right man, sometimes I don't recognize how much I'm hurting people because I'm so privileged and life is just a breeze for a white male like me.
Next let's talk about what species we identify as. I don't know why, but I've always identified myself as a tiger. I'm a trans-tiger and I'm proud of it.
+TheIrishEnigma This is so stupid. There are systematic and distinct differences between human and other species brains. Every tiger will have a different brain structure and different cognitive skills to humans - guaranteed. For humans between gender variation has not got consistent differences especially when compared to within gender variation. Men and women's brains aren't systematically different enough to warrant the same distinction as humans to other animals. Therefore there is clear cognitive and neural indications dictating what species you are but not what gender you are - it is possible these may overlap for gender but not for species.
I'm non-binary and it's very refreshing that someone like Mel was included in this video and it was pointed out that trans* is an umbrella term and a spectrum.
Sex and Gender all depends on how you were born. If you were born a man and later on become a female then you are still a man no matter what you try to change.
Your sex is what your body is. You can change that in any way you want. Gender is who you are on the inside and that does not change and sometimes your gender and sex don't match up. That's not my opinion it's simple science.
***** ...Ah, not really... Sex is the reproductive organs you have. Gender is what you identify as (ps please stop with the 'I identify as a toaster' thing that's not funny to us). A person can have a female reproductive organ and still refer to as male. Same goes to trans females. That's why there's transgender ( those who still the genitalia they were born with and identity as another gender ) and transsexual ( those who underwent through surgery ).
Grendel Wolf You're thinking sex. I'd like to point out that genitals are not always a good indicator if genetic sex, so how can they be an indicator of gender?
Since a large portion of a Man's testosterone comes from his testis, it is a define marker of gender. Aside from that, I also mention bone, muscle structure and mass.
Grendel Wolf Incorrect. www.apa.org/pi/lgbt/resources/sexuality-definitions.pdf www.who.int/topics/gender/en/ www.med.monash.edu.au/gendermed/sexandgender.html www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1180842/ Even the dictionary defines it as cultural, not physiological.
Mosanso No it's not. Horseradish is not a gender either. That's okay, no one has any experience with gender. Luckily, I have enough experience, for all of you!
English needs gender neutral pronouns. I respect people's gender identification, but using "they" to refer to a single person is grammatically incorrect.
MisunderstoodAlpaca It can be grammatically correct in certain situations, but I agree, 'they' can be awkward to use. I believe xe is a gender neutral pronoun, but it is not common.
"they" has been used for a long, long time as a singular pronoun. hell, even shakespeare used it. "they/them/their" is typically used when referring to a person whose individual pronoun is unknown at first. i.e. "who is that person walking over there? *they* have nice shoes." or "i met someone yesterday." "really? what is *their* name?" plenty of other languages do the same thing. for example, in german, the pronoun "Sie" means both she(singular) and they(plural), but also you(formal). it all depends on the context. if you truly meant to be respectful of gender identity, it would not be an issue for you to refer to them as "they" when they ask you to. not to be rude, of course, but it only makes sense. true respect of trans people involves respecting their identity and pronoun choice, since that's only what makes them more comfortable in the life they have. before you ask, yes, i am transgender. i am non-binary, and i formerly used they/them (but i realized they don't suit me). several of my friends also use they/them, and talking about them in daily conversation even to ignorant people isn't confusing, because it's common knowledge that "they" is used when you don't want to disclose someone's gender.
StarbakiHero For the sake of specificity, it would make more sense to have a separate pronoun used to refer to multiple people and a different one used in the context of someone who doesn't identify with a specific gender. It doesn't matter to me whether or not you're transgender. Questioning my respect for others IS rude.
***** do you mean to call other people "it"? some people do prefer this, but for most trans people, it is extremely offensive. you should definitely ask what they are comfortable with.
I would love an informative video on OCD.. As someone who grew up with it and with people not understanding it, for example, "so.. You're neat?" (Im not), it was really hard.. I felt like such a weirdo and that I was kind of unloveable.. Luckily, I've found people who understand my boundaries and who understand what it means to have OCD, but I see other people who have it and who are ashamed by it.. I just want people to be educated on it because I couldn't care less about germs! (Just the number eight 😷)
I agree and the fact that everyone says "oh im so ocd about rainbw order, this is just me being ocd" etc. Like no ocd is a recognised disorder that puts boundries on people and leaves them often depressed and exclouded from society as people think it is wierd.
Orla Scully I go through the same thing. People think that OCD means your 100% neat and organized, but when you see my desk, its a complete mess. In my case, having OCD means correcting things that aren't the way I like them to be, not to be cleaning 24/7.
Sad to see all the negative comments :( people should be able to be who they are you know why? BECAUSE WE ARE ALL HUMAN! But instead people say "there's only 2 genders" well news flash there isn't and it needs to be accepted that some people seriously are not comfortable with who they are and if it takes identifying as another gender to be comfortable why should it matter to you? Is it hurting you? No. So leave them be and mind your own business.
+lazycatlux how is it stupid to split humans into male snd female when humans are *MALE AND FEMALE?* That's like saying in the Avatarverse it's stupid to split people between benders and non benders, when there are benders and non benders. see, humans are sexually dimorphic. Google it.
i hope one day sexuality, gender identity, race, all this crap won't even exist. we'll all just be humans and we'll be what we want and love who we want and the world will be a beautiful place. this is the world I want my children to grow up in :,)
+Hannah Rose agreed. and i hope the idea of culture dies out as well. Every human on earth should adhere to the same view points to avoid all conflict. male and female genetic traits are only present in animals and testosterone and estrogen are lies made by the patriarchy to create the idea of gender.
Hannah Allexandra jesus christ... this world is doomed. I leaving America after I get my lpn lisence and save up at a least $40,000. Poland and Nigeria are a lot better than this massive shithole of a country.
I have 3 genderfluid friends. I gave each of the 3 bracelets. One pink, one blue and one green. The pink was for when they were feeling female and wanted the pronouns 'she'. The blue was for when they were feeling male and wanted the pronouns 'he'. The last one, the green was for when they were feeling both and wanted the pronouns 'they', and when the were not wearing any, they were neither.
As someone who's genderfluid I applaud you for your efforts! My friends have started doing this for me and it really helps! Seriously you're amazing! Thanks for supporting genderfluid people!
+msspinshady832 Well since you profess to be a Genderfluid person, please explain the phenomenon you face to me. Because quite frankly, I don't believe in "Genderqueer (except for Intersex people)", "Agender", or "Genderfluid" identities. I just don't think they're actually real phenomenons of gender identity. Most of you seem to be confusing the concepts of gender identity and masculinity/femininity, which are independent. If you don't face any gender dysphoria and are completely as ease with your female or male body, than you are cisgender. Gender Identity has *nothing* to do with whether you consider your behavior or emotions to be masculine or feminine (at a particular time in your case). Someone identifying as "Genderqueer" is essentially professing to identify as Intersex. An Agender Identity does not exist, and I doubt that Gender Identity has the ability to change like you genderfluids claim, but you're welcome prove me wrong, and I'm a very open person.
Me as well. Carrots FTW! I suggest to build gender neutral public bathrooms, though. If we build one for every gender, that's too many. Just build (small versions of) the ones people got at home. They are carrot-friendly.
It makes me cringe that so many people are so uneducated on things like gender identify and sexuality ugh like how can you not know what gender identity means? it's 2015.
+alaynagymstar04 Yep. I'm lesbian, always been attracted to girls, and I even used to be a guy (I'm trans). Still find him really good looking. Would date 8/10.
Ничего себе Вы знаете по-русски im aware of what life is. You are entitled to your opinion and i am entitled to mine. You aren't going to change my mind. And I'm not going to change yours. You are clearly a bitter and privileged human being who has never known what it is like to be stuck with a body you don't feel right in. You are getting angry over something that I'm pretty sure you know nothing about, and if you refuse to see the imperfection in nature and then I find this argument to be a waste of my time. I have no reason to respond after this.
+There are only 2 gender! -Man or woman? +Yeah -God is a man or woman? +Wha-... Um... God has no gender? -Then, there are more gender than 2; so, shut up.
I am just started to come out as trans and this was awesome I am still in school and i hate it when people don't talk to me because I dress like a guy or they can't tell and it makes me mad when i come out to someone and they purposely call me a she because they are confused or don't like it I have only come out to a few people but I hope I can come out to the rest more people need to learn about gender identity I would have been so much happier if I knew what transgender was when i was younger
So what if we built an intelligent learning self-conscious robot A.I. And it asks us to call it a "him". Should we? It's still not biologically a male but it thinks it is.
Hannah Schrenk Oxford English Dictionary they 1Used to refer to two or more people or things previously mentioned or easily identified: 2[SINGULAR] Used to refer to a person of unspecified sex:
Hannah Schrenk Pants/trousers are actually spelled as plural, even if it's just one object. If someone is comfortable with the pronoun 'they', they should be able to use it.
Atley Meow you are a beautiful human being and you'll always be perfect and worth it, just the way you are and/or just the way you want to be. Don't let anyone bring you down. Society sucks, but there are some good people out there. Some people who are accepting and not judgmental. Always remember that this is just a step to get to your happy ending and to your comfort zone. You'll get there, I believe in you. If you ever feel down or if you're curious on talking to me or watching my face, my instagram and twitter is @annavicdelgado:) And I didn't do this for self-promo btw
I'm reading the comments and I want to say that I am very disappointed in some of the people commenting. I thought that we were making progress in the world and I thought that people were more excepting. How would you feel if people went around calling you something that you're not? How would you feel if people questioned your gender, your life and everything you did? You would feel pretty crappy and that's how trans people feel every day
Dude serious props to Rocco for reacting with such grace to people's less than understanding reactions. I can't imagine the frustration of constantly having to explain and validate your existence.
to my trans friends; trans boy, you are valid, handsome, and worthy of respect. no one can tell you otherwise. you are male, you are 100% valid, and you are loved. trans girls, you are beautiful, no matter how much others may say you're not. you are lovely women, inside and out, no matter what you were born with. non-binary humans, you are amazing. you exist, even if people don't believe it, and you are appreciated. you are great humans that deserve to be happy. transphobes, go ahead, hate me as much as you want. hate trans people as much as you want. go ahead. but you will never be able to change the fact that they exist, and will for as long as we're on this planet. tell me to kill myself, i dare you. i'm not the one who's going to look like a child here. i will be here to support for as long as i can, and no one can change that. thank you.
You mean biracial?
Mitsuru Kirijo isn't it the same thing?
***** Yes but multi can mean two... And the person correcting them doesnt know how many races this person is.
Wow....public restrooms must be a bitch to use for these people.
I have no problems pissing in public.
Guess what? Not only are they pretty terrible already, but there are bills currently trying to get passed in KY basically saying that you have to use the public restroom that matches your genitalia. So the guy in this video would use the girls restroom. Or be arrested.
An upside of changing from male to female is that all washrooms wont be wet and dirty
I personally think gender is whatever that person wants it to be
tru tho?
I personally think your gender should be what it is...so we live in a less confused world.
Jordan 25 Everyone just wants us to go along with their delusions.
Right. Like sometimes. I feel like a guy, but when I eat too much I feel like a fat cow. So I would Identify myself as half man half cow. Omg! Stfu. You're either male or female. Fucking papers take time to feel it already. Now you want to add more circles to bubble in -___-

t0p k3k
this is incorrect
allyson tuck This is correect
+allyson tuck I too identify as an Apache black helicopter
I NEED THAT GARLIC BREAD PLEASE H OLY
I question my gender once a month for about 3-5 days, then I go back to being happy I'm a female. xD
👌👌😂😂😂
Period jokes.. Thank baby Jesus's girlfriend
LMFAOOO
I mean that could be genderfluid
***** That's you. lol
Physically I'm a male obviously but mentally idek I could be a fuckin turtle. Idk but hey we are what we are and what I ain't I'll never be.
That's some deep shit, you have changed the way I view life
Totally cool. I sometimes think I'm a pokemon. Nothing fun though. Just geodude. :(
wise words my guy
I hate it when people say they don't understand gender and say "let's just be human". Males are different to females physically, hormonally, and emotionally. Males and females have different parts, stop ignoring that fact.
macaronipizza " Males are different to females physically, "
That is sex. Male and female are sexes. Sexes are not the same as genders. This is a fact.
peepslostsheep You must be smart.
TheAwded When was the last time you looked at a dictionary? Here, let me give you a direct passage from a dictionary.
Oxford English Dictionary
Gender
The state of being male or female (*typically used with reference to social and cultural differences rather than biological ones*):
Usage
The word gender has been used since the 14th century as a grammatical term, referring to classes of noun designated as masculine, feminine, or neuter in some languages.
TheAwded Keep laughing, it only shows your lack of understanding.
"Are you a boy or a girl?"
"I'm an orange."
How about just carry on with your life lol.
be more doge **rides in on a rainbow and throws glitter on u** Did someone say... FLAME WAR?!
***** Cis? You mean normal?
+George Braithwaite Thank you. The majority of these comments are idiotic.
Olivia Mitchell Just because you don't agree with something, doesn't mean it's idiotic. You must stop thinking like that while you're still young, because otherwise you will grow up a spoiled brat thinking that you know it all.
Frivvy Barage It does when we're discussing basic human rights.
George Braithwaite You think it's a basic human right to let others mutilate their biologically-assigned genitalia?
Frivvy Barage Why are you mad about people changing their gender but not getting a nose job? A boob job? Liposuction? Donor insemination? You're being a hypocrite.
How do you "feel like a gender?" And if gender is indeed a social construct, then why associate things stereotypically connected to the gender you feel like?
+annagadd1 right lmao
Well, no stereotypes are trying to be given, but we give them names to help people relate and identify themselves better.
Caitlin P. Gender is based purely on chromosomes. However, preferences of a person can be similar to the social construct of typical gender preferences or actions.
Slievalee Wijayawardhana It's hard to take what you say seriously when your bio says you're 'chief unicorn' and you look like you're 10
John Emery Actually, autism is not an insult, nor is it something I have. However, I do have friends who fall on that spectrum.
John Emery I was never diagnosed with autism or any other thing, except asthma and allergies, but those hardly count.
+Esmeralda Tinajenn I myself do not feel feminine or masculine. I may do things that people see as "feminine" or "masculine," but I don't feel either. Enjoying things that society has assigned a gender to is not the same as being that gender.
+David M Just because you disagree doesn't mean it doesn't exist and it isn't valid.
David M Can you please leave your negativity far from here? It's unnecessary and disappointing.
I identify as a toaster. Does that make me a toaster now?
I mean, yeah, why not?
Why not? I know this is a joke but really, you can do whatever the hell you want.
I know right why are we allowed to make choices, it's not like it's a free country or anything.
I know right! Why are we allowed to make our own choices, it's not like it's a free country or anything.
Make me a sandwich!
I personally just let people be whatever the hell they want to be...It's not affecting me, so why should I care....
Brianna Alexis If a woman underwent surgery and mutilated her body to portray herself as man, how would you feel if she didn't reveal that information to you before intimacy? I personally find the idea terrifying and disgusting, but if you don't then you shouldn't assume that everyone else doesn't.
Brianna Alexis However, I'm completely against the idea of them being humiliated and mistreated.
That's your opinion & that's how you feel....I just don't care, I let people be them as we should.
Brianna Alexis Thank you for allowing us to exist, benevolent overlord.
I identify as a frog. So I'm a frog. Don't you fucking mistake me for anything other than a frog
A toad is better just saying.
Silvy S.
dude toads stole their look from us frogs..
You're an otherkin?
Nope, sorry! The laws of nature say you can't change species! :P (yet)
Silvy S. Wow, racist. Omg, you're just saying that because you're a toad, aren't you?
I identify as a girl. I wear boy clothes and shoes, even socks. I don't wear makeup, I always wear my hair Ina ponytail and always wear sports bras. The way I see it is if someone feels they don't belong in their body, they can change, they deserve to feel normal, they're human too contrary to what a lot of people say.
One of the few great comments in this disgusting comment section I totally agree.
+MinecraftUnlimited Thank you.
+Bundy YES
You cant change your gender... you might say you can but you can't, no matter how much testosterone you pump into you or whatever you do, you CAN NOT change it. Scientifically anyways. Girls:Pair of X chromosomes Boys: Pair of XY chromosomes. You cant change that. Deal with it.
+Nicholas Palermo 3rd world countries exists you know.
Doesn't matter how many genders you think there are. If someone doesn't identify as male or female, respect it. Doesn't affect you at all.
THANK YOU!!!
I don't care what they think they are. I'm calling them by what they really are.
***** "pedophiles go into bathrooms in order to prey" i'm sorry hun you do realize that the chances of a trans person getting attached in public bathrooms are higher than the chances of a trans person attacking somebody else? can you process that, or is it too much for your ignorant little brain to handle?
***** that actually is this persons reasoning lmao. i hope they're not that ignorant/blatantly stupid in real life...
Mariel Amador trut
Sex and gender and two different things. Sex is your reproductive organs and gender is the was you perceive yourself sexually. Ex. Someone who has a penis has a sex of male, but chose to be more on the feminine side thus the chosen gender is female.
That makes no sense.. They can't be Male and Female, why do people have to make things complicated?? If you have a penis you're a MAN and if you have a vagina you're a WOMAN PERIOD!

So are you arguing with these dictionaries? The language is there, what's the point in changing it? Gender has had a definition for a long time now. Why try change it?

Cameron Bone High on kazoo my dude?
Hi, I am Elliot and 14. I am female to male transgender and just now coming out. I hope to be fully out to everyone by the end of the school year so, by my first year of high school I can HOPEFULLY identify as completely as male. It would be nice for society to have more understanding about what being transgender is becuase it is a huge pain when people (my sister) says, it is either a phase or that we are just "pretending". Yes, becuase im totally pretending so I have to get bullied and harassed. I'm really pretending so that I have to spend thousands of dollars....*sarcastic* totally!
Good Luck
Hey! Congrats on starting to come out! I hope that all works out for you :D
Good luck and best wishes coming you way. 😊
hey me too! im really hoping to be fully out and living male by the time I start high school, but living in a catholic family who are having a really hard time wrapping their heads around how I'm feeling, its probably gonna be later than sooner. anyways, I wish you the best of luck! if you ever need a brother to bro you out, im here!
HollisterCoGurly I can imagine you spitting on your computer screen. Gross.

I AM A FABULOUS JELLYFISH
+Ronald McDonald No thanks. I can't fit that into my schedule
honey take what you are given be the gender you are biologically
+Finn the Human Well, I am a female, I identify as that, I just meant some days are more masculine or I feel like just throwing on clothes. I AM a female, sometimes I just feel like other things
Genderfluid is the stuff that comes out of your pee pee
"Gender is a social construct" so umm ppl just pick the one that suits them from the available constructs. Interesting
+Zerdy X Yea I rolled my eyes HARD at that...
you don't just pick
no one does
I don't think you understood what I meant by that.
+Zerdy X lmao writing a whole essay
Brendon Urie I hope I'll pass the course.
People, people, gender is not how you dress or what's between your legs. Gender is what's in your mind and what's in your heart.
Don't forget skeletal structure. Your skeleton is also determining of your gender.
right
I mean how you feel inside.

Well I don't "feel" like I AM a boy

Whyd you comment this twice senpai 2
Oops, I did? Whys you reply twice?
Same here. I like being early to these kind of videos so I don't have to see all the garbage comments :-)
Why'd you comment twice Not a Pro Gamer?
I'm gay, straight, lesbian, intersex, incest, black, female, a non gender conformist and transgender and I find this offensive.
You're just all over the place Johnny
You're life's DAMN complicated XD

Stop making a fucking fool of yourself.
I do believe that is a mid-life crisis if ive ever seen one.
"I identify as a brotha'."
He knows what's up, haha.
Best part of this video was Rocco saying don't make a big deal about it. Because while it may be a big deal to you, it's not about you. Loved the video. Keep on keepin on with trans content buzzfeed.
This was so enlightening. Thanks buzzfeed. I really like these types of videos than the random facts of stuff.
"I feel like gender is just this... sausage casing." I feel like she hit a blunt pretty damn hard before saying that.
it is actually really interesting how some people feel the need to Break Down the entire "system" or the meaning of Gender just because they want to feel like what they're doing is natural.
Il Wu "If you were born with a penis you are MALE if you were born without, you are FEMALE."
A very narrow view, and sometimes false.
" "gender is self identification" NO. "
Yes, actually.
And scientifically inaccurate videos lmao
I love this so much, I feel like everyone should know about this.
shut up
Why should they shut up
Aztec X wow calm down
Here we go again.. Once again read the comments at your own peril!
Thanks for the heads up
I don't really like the concept of gender. I think we should all shave our heads and have numbers instead of names.
Oh lord that's like the giver all over again
That's frightening
+Patrick Gabriel ok my name is 29375632 nice to meet you
gender fluid is a made up term
+GamerPikachuMC Exactly, it does not.
I feel hungry. Does that make my gender "hungry"?
I hate this comment..
I'm triedgender. Good night.
Hunger has nothing to do with gender
owl33 But that's what I feel inside
Zane Swartz Its not a gender
26 years ago, I was born as a girl, but I always felt like a boy ...
Somedays i feel more like a girl in my head, sometimes I feel more like a boy in my appearance.
But I don't want to choose between the two ! I'm fine like this.
What makes me uncomfortable is the social pressure, constantly "forcing" me to identify as a girl OR a boy ... Also, as a straight girl, it's hard to explain that I only like boys, even if I look like one ...
Let's just say that I'm trying to keep the best things in male and female, make a mix with it, and call myself androgynous !
.
Shayne Adeline your confused what? What of theirs is confused? What you mean is you're confused. You are trying to say you are confused, which they are not.
'i am a brother' before this video i never knew what i was... now i know i am a brother
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who caught that! I thought that was freaking hilarious! lol!
But... In biology I learned... Never mind, I guess proven science doesn't matter I'm going to identify as a pizza now.
chris jost lol
chris jost You learned about sex. Gender falls under sociology and psychology. Sex is biology.
@@peepslostsheep stfu snowflake
OK well, I go by DNA.
Really? How often do you do kereotypes and when was your last one? Last I checked, there are a lot of people walking around with non-standard chromosome pairs and you know what? No. one. knows. There are plenty of women who are XY and men who are XX. *gasp* The horror.
Exactly!
Lmao
nStach Actually you can be born with the opposite chromosomes!

Taylor Flynn no I just need to accept that I am a god
Cody Simpson k
I am aware of pansexual, but I am still confused on what it means. Does it just means you like everyone? No matter their gender? Or if they even conform to a gender? I haven't read the comments, but I just wanted to ask. I congratulate you. I honestly think loving a human being is loving a human being and we don't need labels. However we are all on the spectrum sadly. I can't wait for the day where coming out isn't a thing.
If I had a dollar for every gender there is, I would have two dollars.
Congratulations on being completely unoriginal and an idiot!
PurifiedKilljoy I'm an idiot for recognizing basic biology...?
No you forgot that this is a safe space. You can't use facts or common sense here it's very triggering to some. Recognize your priviledge and be better
Samurthott your right man, sometimes I don't recognize how much I'm hurting people because I'm so privileged and life is just a breeze for a white male like me.
+Mr Oxygen lol
Next let's talk about what species we identify as. I don't know why, but I've always identified myself as a tiger. I'm a trans-tiger and I'm proud of it.
That actually a thing, it's called otherkin.
Therefore there is clear cognitive and neural indications dictating what species you are but not what gender you are - it is possible these may overlap for gender but not for species.

gender is not a social construct.
We need to help pheasants, they have an oppressive social construct!
No pheasants, the bird, they too have gender roles.
+Chroma its a bird a pheasant
um..yes it is.
No it isn't. It's a vital tool to survival. Expalin to me how it is.
Sex and Gender are synonymous
***** ...Ah, not really... Sex is the reproductive organs you have. Gender is what you identify as (ps please stop with the 'I identify as a toaster' thing that's not funny to us).
A person can have a female reproductive organ and still refer to as male. Same goes to trans females. That's why there's transgender ( those who still the genitalia they were born with and identity as another gender ) and transsexual ( those who underwent through surgery ).
Lucky Charms Nope. The gender spectrum does not have penguins in it, sorry. Try other-kin.
Lucky Charms You wanna be a penguin? Then by all means be a penguin, i won't stop you :)
Gender is composed of:
Hormones.
Bone structure and mass.
Muscle structure and mass.
Yes genitals.
Grendel Wolf You're still thinking sex. Male/female, rather than gender, man/woman.
peepslostsheep
Scientifically Sex and Gender are the same thing. Only time it is different is when referring to the act of reproduction.
Grendel Wolf Incorrect.

Yes sir..... Yes

*they* have nice shoes." or "i met someone yesterday." "really? what is *their* name?"
plenty of other languages do the same thing. for example, in german, the pronoun "Sie" means both she(singular) and they(plural), but also you(formal). it all depends on the context.
if you truly meant to be respectful of gender identity, it would not be an issue for you to refer to them as "they" when they ask you to. not to be rude, of course, but it only makes sense. true respect of trans people involves respecting their identity and pronoun choice, since that's only what makes them more comfortable in the life they have.
before you ask, yes, i am transgender. i am non-binary, and i formerly used they/them (but i realized they don't suit me). several of my friends also use they/them, and talking about them in daily conversation even to ignorant people isn't confusing, because it's common knowledge that "they" is used when you don't want to disclose someone's gender.
StarbakiHero For the sake of specificity, it would make more sense to have a separate pronoun used to refer to multiple people and a different one used in the context of someone who doesn't identify with a specific gender. It doesn't matter to me whether or not you're transgender. Questioning my respect for others IS rude.
MisunderstoodAlpaca use it maybe? if it helps your welcome :)
***** do you mean to call other people "it"? some people do prefer this, but for most trans people, it is extremely offensive. you should definitely ask what they are comfortable with.
I hope one day we can all just be treated as humans.
Not for any other reasons then the fact that everybody should be excepted for how the are.
who*
Honestly I don't care if someone is trans, gender-fluid/non conforming, I care about their personality, how they treat others, and themselves, ect.

Before I forget anyone interested in watching the fights down there in the comments and eating popcorns?
What flavor of popcorn?
Aamyah T Caramel.
Lemme get in on that.

*Hands* *you* *the* *popcorns*
Thanks.
This is like finding gold in a cave of ignorant comments.
+lazycatlux very true
+lazycatlux how is it stupid to split humans into male snd female when humans are *MALE AND FEMALE?*
That's like saying in the Avatarverse it's stupid to split people between benders and non benders, when there are benders and non benders. see, humans are sexually dimorphic. Google it.
You guys are just ignoring the fact that there are only 2 genders(besides interex). Its basic biology🤦🏽♀️
On all levels except physical, I am a wolf.
guys i found the furry
Its from a video lol

i hope one day sexuality, gender identity, race, all this crap won't even exist. we'll all just be humans and we'll be what we want and love who we want and the world will be a beautiful place. this is the world I want my children to grow up in :,)

agreed. and i hope the idea of culture dies out as well. Every human on earth should adhere to the same view points to avoid all conflict.
male and female genetic traits are only present in animals and testosterone and estrogen are lies made by the patriarchy to create the idea of gender.
+Hannah Rose Yeah good luck with that
Agreed, and Im a Trump supporter too btw. Dont trust the media. They should do a gender fluid video.
Hannah Allexandra but......i like being a black guy

Buzzfeed also needs to make a video about us intersexual people.
+Stefania Mira Yılmaz they have
Yep. You can type in "Buzzfeed Intersex" and something should come up.
Trajun Chambers
No stupid, there're people who're born with 2 genitalia and those with chromosomal differences. Bible fools you.
+Cc games *claps*
I have 3 genderfluid friends. I gave each of the 3 bracelets. One pink, one blue and one green. The pink was for when they were feeling female and wanted the pronouns 'she'. The blue was for when they were feeling male and wanted the pronouns 'he'. The last one, the green was for when they were feeling both and wanted the pronouns 'they', and when the were not wearing any, they were neither.
+Elizabeth Fenton I think something's wrong in their mind...
+Elizabeth Fenton aw thats nice :)
All the ignorant comments on this video make me sick. I honestly thought there would be a majority positive. My bad.
The title is basically my life
same
I identify as carrot. Thank you for all the support. I hope to see bathrooms for carrots in the future.
+Arrows to Athens Have you ever heard of a joke? Yeah...
Lol I bet you do have things that actually trigger you. Like genderfluid people for example. They seem to trigger you.
I don't know why is made me laugh so much
Me as well. Carrots FTW!
I suggest to build gender neutral public bathrooms, though. If we build one for every gender, that's too many. Just build (small versions of) the ones people got at home. They are carrot-friendly.
Thats not even a gender
It makes me cringe that so many people are so uneducated on things like gender identify and sexuality ugh like how can you not know what gender identity means? it's 2015.
+Isabelle Mathers 2016*
+Isabelle Mathers i know right. I'm in high school nd I'm very confused about this subject. I have so many questions.
abby ethridge ikr, the only thing that actually school learned me is that there's female and male and nothing more.
YEAH thats so true! I identify as a black person! noone understands....
you guys should do a video on Gender Fluid.
OMG YES PLEASE!!

+Emilee Bowman yes same

BlackStarrSoul many people see things differently. But I respect your opinion.(:
+Katie Formacion Why that face uwu Hmm?
ppl should just explain not getting angry. lots of people don't know the real meaning of gender
There's two genders. It is not a social construct, it is simple biology.
Warning to all the other agenders: upsetting comments
I was just about to say that. It sucks that people just can't keep their mouths shut sometimes.
+kiersten Simpson *special shitflakes is what you mean girl
Yeah :(( ppl r so ignorant in these comments and I don't think they realise how upsetting it genuinely is
Kiersten Simpson too late, Already saw some.
Kiersten Simpson upsetting or factual
2015-2016 the years based off feelings.
Am I the only person who finds rocco really attractive??
No I'm pretty sure everyone does!😂😂😂
+alaynagymstar04 Yep. I'm lesbian, always been attracted to girls, and I even used to be a guy (I'm trans). Still find him really good looking. Would date 8/10.
I'm one of those people that don't associate as a gender. I have female genitals but it doesn't mean I feel female, I don't feel male either.
pls stop
NibleyCookie and so? ur point? why does that even matter?
bookcrazy001 Nature is never wrong you are wrong because you are saying the biolagy is wrong it cannot be in this situation
Ничего себе Вы знаете по-русски i mean have you heard of cancer? That is nature happening.
I have no reason to respond after this.
i identify as an apache attack helicopter.
And also a bigot.
Lol
Dick
u can be whatever u want hon
+There are only 2 gender!
-Man or woman?
+Yeah
-God is a man or woman?

-Then, there are more gender than 2; so, shut up.

but i love of mice and men
So you make yourself sick?
I am just started to come out as trans and this was awesome I am still in school and i hate it when people don't talk to me because I dress like a guy or they can't tell and it makes me mad when i come out to someone and they purposely call me a she because they are confused or don't like it I have only come out to a few people but I hope I can come out to the rest more people need to learn about gender identity I would have been so much happier if I knew what transgender was when i was younger
umm... Gender is how you identify psychologically.
It doesn't necessarily match sex identity.
It doesn't necessarily match sex identity.
yesss!

So what if we built an intelligent learning self-conscious robot A.I. And it asks us to call it a "him". Should we? It's still not biologically a male but it thinks it is.
Why do people want to use 'they'? You're not more than one person. That is not grammatically correct.
Hannah Schrenk 'They' can also be used as a single, yes, it is grammatically correct.
peepslostsheep Nope. It'soften used that way, but it's not supposed to be.
Hannah Schrenk Oxford English Dictionary
they
1Used to refer to two or more people or things previously mentioned or easily identified:
2[SINGULAR] Used to refer to a person of unspecified sex:
Yes it is grammatically correct, "they" does in fact work for singular and plural subjects.
Hannah Schrenk Pants/trousers are actually spelled as plural, even if it's just one object.
If someone is comfortable with the pronoun 'they', they should be able to use it.

I identify as an Apache attack helicopter
+Alex Cap >> I identify as a direwolf. Can we be friends?
wow yup. because feeling like a male is exactly like feeling like a helicopter.
Hey do you know what a joke is? No i guess not.
+tyrroo I'm a tornado tree frog tiger chupacabra. Let's all be friends
+Angela Michaelson Why does it differ? I could say that I feel like a girl, so why it different if he feels like a helicopter?
These comments make me sick.
Same. I'm in tears right now reading all of these.
+Amunet FoxWolf same.
+Anna Allison same
Atley Meow you are a beautiful human being and you'll always be perfect and worth it, just the way you are and/or just the way you want to be.
+Anna Allison one of my best friends is a trans guy. He is truly epic and really funny.
Loved this! Interesting to see the different ways of thinking!
I'm just going to walk away from the comments before I end up reporting 90% of them for hate speech.
I hate this world. -.-'
2:00
Gender is marketing.
Ok.
I am a male so I must be advertising...
I guess?
I don't even know anymore.
I'm reading the comments and I want to say that I am very disappointed in some of the people commenting. I thought that we were making progress in the world and I thought that people were more excepting. How would you feel if people went around calling you something that you're not? How would you feel if people questioned your gender, your life and everything you did? You would feel pretty crappy and that's how trans people feel every day
I am helicopter please be respectful to my feeling do not call me male . That hurts me so deeply when you call me a male . I am helicopter so stop !
@Myles Fe 😂😂😂
Dude serious props to Rocco for reacting with such grace to people's less than understanding reactions. I can't imagine the frustration of constantly having to explain and validate your existence.
Under 301 yeah

Gender is a big wobbly wobbly colourful huge spectrum with no limits

+Cynthia WithLove ba dun tss
to my trans friends;
trans boy, you are valid, handsome, and worthy of respect. no one can tell you otherwise. you are male, you are 100% valid, and you are loved.
trans girls, you are beautiful, no matter how much others may say you're not. you are lovely women, inside and out, no matter what you were born with.
non-binary humans, you are amazing. you exist, even if people don't believe it, and you are appreciated. you are great humans that deserve to be happy.
transphobes, go ahead, hate me as much as you want. hate trans people as much as you want. go ahead. but you will never be able to change the fact that they exist, and will for as long as we're on this planet. tell me to kill myself, i dare you. i'm not the one who's going to look like a child here. i will be here to support for as long as i can, and no one can change that. thank you.
*t h a n k y o u i a m q u i t e h a n d s o m a r e n t i?*
you should always ask someone their pronouns and gender. don't assume.
His transformation is amazing and I love to see people happy and open about them selves and what they have been through.
