I came out to my friends today and my boyfriend came out to me as bisexual, so everything worked out and went really smooth! I'm coming out to my mom after I get my haircut tomorrow
My friend recently came out as ftm transgender and I'm so proud of him. He's one of the most confident people I know. He came out in front of our whole school and he's only a freshman and we go to a pretty conservative school. I have nothing but endless respect for the trans community
Snort protein powder. Boil eugenix on a spoon then drink it. And glue drain hair on your chin to make a goatee. That’s the bootleg version. If you wanna properly do it, it gonna cost you big money.
***** Your brain controls the body. Your brain is your body. You can't live without your head. It has nothing to so with body at all. It has to do with brain. And if you're feeling like you're a different gender in your head, and if you're feeling like you belong into different sex, obviously, it means you should do something about it. Your brain controls everything, and your feelings are in your brain. Not your body. So this "but you have a male body" thing means absolutely nothing. Just think about it. It's like saying "you're not hungry because you're fat" - it makes no sense.
Connley Poo That, sir, is the true definition of closed minded. How does what they do effect you in any way? It doesn't.. Really, it doesn't.. So just leave them to it.. and saying that makes you a horrible human being !:)
AmberAndGolden Just because people don't agree with the act of changing gender doesn't make them a closed-minded person. If you were athiest and I said "Hey you should believe in God" and you say "No." , does that make you closed minded? No, you just personally don't want to agree and follow religion.
I think transgendered people are so interesting because they seem to have such a refreshing attitude on society because they've felt pain and happiness all at the same time. I completely support the LGBT community and always will
AztectheKing Physically, it is gay, because if you were born with male genitals and male organs and become trans and date a male, then that would be homosexual in some form. On the other hand, it wouldn't mentally be gay considering you have the mind of a female, just stuck in the wrong body.
Will H You have to stop looking at it from the perspective of them not being male anymore. If they transition, they are going from male to female, and are no longer male. That means if they date a male, they're straight. Being transgender and being gay are two completely different things(unless they are female and transition to male and still are attached to males. Or males transitioned to females and are still attracted to females). Its complicated in all honesty
+Demonic Cupcake Speaking as someone who transitioned in the nineties I agree. May I add that being transgender may be a lifestyle to some Transsexual is not a lifestyle and that is a fact.
all of the small minded people thinking or leaving negative comments claiming they're "disgusted" or dont agree with it make me chuckle, its a shame your views are so shallow :)
no, its not a "big ask" for people to accept this and this is not bizzare, like the lady in the video said - some people change their name and pronouns, lets move on. its not that big of a deal, much like the colour of someones skin, neither of these things should be an issue, but they are because some people are small minded :)
Heather Barrera I agree, I may not understand it but I accept it and have the upmost respect for them for coming out and saying who they are. Life is too short to not be yourself.
People is really rude with the trans comunity. You have no idea of how it feels, and you are not in your right of judging anyone because you don't know nothing. People are on their right of being whoever they want to be, and if that implies being the opposite sex, then let em be.
***** They will hopefully come around eventually. It was the same way many years ago towards the gay and lesbian community, and look how far they've come now.
***** I don't like trans people, you don't like assholes. What is the difference other than you feel you have the god given right to impose your views and just assume that you are correct because you are more tolerant of a mall subsection of society and less tolerant to another? What makes trans people worth any more than assholes?
I came out with a letter to my mom. She kind of accepted it okay, but I hated that she cried more than once over her 'lost daughter'. Because I wasn't lost, I had finally found myself. Now she uses the right name and pronouns most of the time, but she doesn't agree that I am a boy or look like a boy or anything. We fight a lot and it's hard. When I came out to my friends, it was very casual, but a few months later, in high school at the time, I was outed. I was ridiculed. Funnily enough most people didn't even know what transgender meant. They though I had gotten bottom surgery or was born amab. Most people, after explaining it or googling it, said that I was confused. Or wrong. A sinner. Whatever it was they thought, I found purpose in my outed identity. I started a GSA. I helped change my entire school districts gender policy on bathrooms, locker rooms, and teacher expectations in that area. I was allowed use of a separate private bathroom, which was great for me, bc I kept being confronted for using male bathrooms. My teachers respected my name and pronouns. Even some students were arguing against other students in my favor, some I had rarely talked to before. Now, I work an average job in the closet on my gender. I'm saving for a car and college which I'm starting this fall as an art major. I'm happy with my gender. I'm hoping to get top surgery st some point in the coming years, maybe start on T. Who knows.
if parents express that the gender of their baby doesnt matter to them while still in the womb, why does it matter so much to them if their child doesnt identify with their assigned gender?
That's the point, the op should respect them as well not because they have those friends.. that's like saying, I'm not a racist my best friend is black! Which is recognized to be wrong
***** here are the facts that as i understand it: 1, That comment didn't make any sense. 2. If you had something against me/the LGBT why can't you keep it to your selves? 3. If you wanted to put us on an island I would want you to pay for all of the people that are for the LGBT community. dismissed,
As a Trans man, this video was incredibly touching to watch. Made me cry a bit, not gonna lie! We're moving forward in the world, friends, stay optimistic!
it's amazing because with half of these people you can't even tell. they all seem so happy, despite all of the hate they get. i have so much respect for them...
I support the LGBTQ community not because they are special, but because they are people as well who deserve to be respected. And seeing the nasty comments in the comment section make me support them even more.
Not true. Lower surgery is several times more expensive and far less common for FTM than MTF. It might be low key if you are lucky enough to have your voice drop enough and pass.
I just kinda want to share my trans story because I feel like a shame to the community because I see no stories like mine. I was in eighth grade and there was always a voice or two in my head asking if I was a boy or a girl. And I would sometimes cry over it because I kept telling myself "omfg I have boobs, I'm a girl" kind of thing. And even on halloween that year, I wanted to dress as a guy. I stole some of my brother's clothes, and put on as many of my training bras as I could (though I was a d cup at that point and none of them fit anyways) And I went downstairs, because my family was hosting a halloween party, one of my older brother's friends told me "haha you look nothing like a guy" and pointed out all the flaws in my look, so I went back to my room and cried for a bit and changed my clothes to the same thing, just without all the bras that were suffocating me anyways. Freshman and sophomore year of high school, I went to my school's gsa and learned more on lgbt and the issues they go through. These years I also realized I wasn't straight. but after sophmore year, when the majority of the club said "trans people shouldn't be part of this as they suffer more" I left gsa after that. Junior year was when Leelah Alcorn committed suicide, and whenever our school forced gender stereotypes . On one of those days, someone asked me "why do you even care on a matter nobody knows or care for?" and I thought about it that whole day, wearing my masculine outfit I felt more comfortable in anyways, and that's when I realized I was trans. I stayed in the closet for another half a year, which was killing me on the inside and was one of the main reasons I went to the hospital five times throughout this year for suicidal ideation and some petty attempts. I came out to my boyfriend before parents, and he didn't understand what transgender was. He thought I just liked "cross-dressing" (and is still working on pronouns and stuff which is reasonable) My friends, didn't accept I was trans, but respected I wanted to be called "Emmett" instead of my birth name of "Emma". When I came out to my parents, they got all the terms messed up thinking transgender was something way worse than it is, and really don't acknowledge my being trans. So I'm still in the closet in the sense that they don't get it even when I try to teach them, but on the days I have my chest binder and jeans, I'm all good. I don't think I could ever transition as I really want kids but when I look like my true self, I'm happy.
+Madame Bell It's been a while so I don't exactly remember what my my dad kept using the terms transvestite and transsexual and it got me frustrated a lot. A lot of friends and family and teachers still don't get it either ways anyway
thank you for sharing this amazing story and you make me want to share my story too . i was in highschool and i always thought how cool it would be to turn into a lamp from ikea so every night i stick a light bulb up my anus and electrify my self until it lights up.
Success of a transition isn't measured in terms of how well they "pass" as the gender they identify with, and it's actually really disrespectful to say stuff like that.
in my opinion, being a happy person as yourself however you define that is really the only important thing. Life is too short to not be comfortable in your own skin.
Everyone deserves to be happy. I think people who go through drastic changes and know that not everyone is cool/ accepting but do it anyway should receive a standing ovation. Kick ass, guys/ girls. This was an awesome video.
I'm really glad the trans community is being properly acknowledged. To the people calling it "unnatural," I want offer a piece of advice: Even if you don't understand someone's feelings, you can still respect them. It's not difficult to use proper pronouns and address people by their preferred names. If you're going out of your way to *avoid* doing that, then you're doing it out of spite, and that's incredibly childish, and unnecessary. Let people assert their happiness how they see fit, and know that it's not your place to decide what will bring them that happiness. This really isn't hard to do.
Seriously, i don't understand why there's so many hate comments about transgender, how someone after hearing this and thinking how horrible must be being in a body that doesn't correspond how you feel can say that it's bad or it's a sin or whatever? o.o
Pinocchio. My brother watched Pinocchio and after that he went to use a public restroom. A guy stopped him before he went and said "Little girl, that's the boys restroom" (My bro has long hair) Then my brother said "BUT IM A REAL BOY!" XD Idek....
As a transmale: Thank you, BuzzFeed, for doing sth. like this. After a lot of videos (generally, also on other channels) about gay people and so on, I've always been like: oh, hey, nice. It's normal being gay now. People start accepting it. So what about me? Looking at some of the comments (because other are really kind and supportive) makes it a bit worse, but nevertheless, thank you for doing your part, trying to show the people that we are there, putting all of this into a positive light. I'm 18 years old, I'm outed for 2 years to my parents and friends now, outed myself in school this week and things are getting pretty rough. So far I cannot change my name offically and I still don't get medication, because I'm "too young", but I'm trying it again and again. Seeing that people accept us the way we are really helps to stay strong. So thank you, BuzzFeed, and everyone else who supports people like me or at least respects us - instead of treating us like outsiders. You make our daily struggle a lot easier and made me smile for now.
I need a little help. I had a long period of time a while back that I had trouble figuring out my sexuality, and I was so lost for the longest time. When I settled on that I was bisexual, I was pretty happy with myself. Recently though, I started to question my gender. I'm beginning to believe I'm gender fluid. My problem is that I'm pretty sure my parents, and others, don't even know what that is. They still haven't fully accepted the fact that I'm bi, and I haven't even come out to a lot of my friends. My parents think they know everything about me, but they don't realize that I know so much more about most LGBTQIA relating topics. I doubt that they'll be able to cope with having me change my name or pronouns or being a boy some days, a girl others, or neither, and I'm scared to tell them. Are they're any other people out there that are gender fluid or have dealt with this problems before that wanna chat about it or if you have some advice to spare? It's not immediate or anything, I just wanna meet others and hear from their experiences.
I'm gender fluid myself. I haven't come out about that yet. But I love to help the best way I can. Do you have a Kik by any chance? Or anything else c: I'll try my best to help
viper24681 Generally speaking, find a gender support group. Just be careful you don't go to one that's too... binary-focused, since they might not understand you either. If you want to talk to me go ahead and send me a message on G+/Hangouts. I do a lot of volunteer work in the trans community and certainly wouldn't mind sharing thoughts/experience and hearing about your situation.
viper24681 I'm going through almost exactly the same thing! My parents are pretty conservative and not so accepting of the LGBTQIA+ community. They don't know that I'm bi or fluid, but I sort of drop hints, like I've been begging my mom for a really short haircut. My older brother knows I'm bi and doesn't really like that xD I'm pretty sure on the bi thing but I'm also beginning to solidify the fluid thing. My awesome awesome close friends know and are totally cool with it, and I can talk pretty freely with them. I guess, as they say, you'll know when the time is right. If you have some close friends who are fine with the bi thing, you can talk with them about how you feel. Heck, let's be friends! We can talk and be indecisive together! xD
I feel you who heartedly. I am bisexual, and gender fluid. I knew that I was bi very early on in life (like well before highschool) but my gender always confused me. I would be all girly one day and look like a guy the next. I though about the fact that I might be trans, but there are those days I LOVE dresses and makeup too. It wasn't until about a year ago I heard about others being gender fluid, and that is when I finally found that there were others like me and I had a name for what I was. I am 23 years old, a mother of 3 and my husband and dad support me 100%. My mom not so much (she thinks it is a phase) buy oh well. I am happy with who I am, as should you me. If you ever need to talk just hit me up.
I know I sound like a douchebag and an asshole but tbh, I was feeling weird, and kind of disgusted and that's just my opinion, I feel good for these people and what they accomplished but it just is weird to me, and that is the truth.
***** I know it makes other people feel awful but here is the thing, I said the truth and the way I truly felt when I watched the video, those people weren't doing anything wrong, they had their freedom and they did what they wanted, so I'm sorry if I made anyone feel bad, I was just expressing an ignorant and disrespectful opinion, I hope u understand.
I feel so bad for you. You really shouldn't have to go through that, but you also shouldn't really be bottling up the fact that you're non-binary inside. If she really loves you, she'll understand.
Scrappy Animations no one needs your negativity, honey, it's not like you telling people to kill themselves (even if you don't agree with what they say/are) is gonna make the world any better
somebody once told me the world was gonna roll me it gets better, darling, someday you're gonna be an adult and independent person and you're gonna have friends who love and support you and you won't have to care about people who don't accept you. i know it's hard when it's your parents, but sometimes you gotta stand up for yourself. just have hope, the future is beautiful
It makes me so happy that these people have come so far from different backgrounds, yet it makes me sad that its not like that for everyone. Sometimes people don't get a happy ending, but I think its great that people tell their stories to give that hope that things can change. It might not always get better, but it can change. It WILL change.
It's not considered a normal thing. Have you looked at the comments of all trans-related videos Buzzfeed has made? Have you seen how many trans people are harrassed, attacked, raped and even killed on a daily basis for being trans?
I'm not trans, gay, bi etc... I'm a straight, female but I completely support and admire people who do whatever they want to make themselves happy despite the worldwide struggle
im so afraid to tell my parents, theyve always said theyd be accepting of me no matter what but im just scared bc they were probably talking about if i were gay or something not trans and they barely mention trans things so i i dont know theyre opinion on trans people plus it was so hard already to tell 4 of my friends
I'm just gonna say this. I love how that lady said she doesn't require much of anyone except that they change her name and gender. A lot of people these days are very picky about their pronouns and stuff so I loved how she said that
why do we have these videos? Making trans a big deal makes it "different". If we just let it happen and don't talk about it then it will be normalized.
***** bro the more we make it such a big seal the more people do it for attention also. I disagree with being trans but the way i see it is nothing made into a big deal will become normalized
Waves That is absolutely not the case. If people actually ignored things like this, we'd still have racism, and gays and lesbians wouldn't be able to get married anywhere.
its funny how when gay & trans people speak about their struggle people feel sorry for them & get all the sympathy in the world.. but when black people speak about r struggles we're told to get over it & stop complaining .... totally dismissing us..
Mason Wedel Chromosomes are a bit dodgey as well. It's not just XX and XY, there's also XXY, XYY, XXX, and X. Along with that, there are ciswomen who are born with XY chromosomes.
Wow, all of these people are so beautiful and amazing for being themselves. Honestly, I admire their bravery so much. Thank you, buzzfeed, for producing this video ❤️
I wonder how they are doing in terms of relationships. If I was a straight dude going out with those used-to-be guys it would make me feel uncomfortable, because biologically he/she is a guy.
I had a friend who was in transition dating a straight guy. How can I really name names when it's friendships with people you never knew existed. I'm can't speak for big name people, as I don't really follow them. It all has to do with how they see someone. If someone sees a transwoman as simply a woman, there is no conflict. Quite frankly, we're all too obsessed with dicks for our own good, which seems to be what so many people focus on when it comes to transwomen and sexuality.
uhhKix I think my boyfriends would be upset if I just name-dropped them for some random, prejudiced, and ignorant people in youtube comments. However, by way of illustration, if you go on OKCupid and search for straight men who answered 'yes' to 'would you date a transgender person?' in most metro areas you'll get over a hundred guys. That's how I find my boyfriends! ^_^
I'm sorry but that's fucked up to be transgender. You are given such an amazing gift and you are trying to change it. It's like saying "mom you got me the iphone 6 but I wanted the 6 plus. Be grateful for what you have guys! It's like WTF? Gender disphoria is a medical condition that NEEDS to be helped. It's a medical condition! If you have it you NEED therapy. Not trying to be offensive just stating the truth...
Unfinished Sentenc I was pro it for like an hour or two yesterday when i heard there is no cure and therapy doesnt help but you know what therapy doesn't help a lot of things. Let's say a brother and sister are dating is that ok because you can't controll your feelings?I mean seriously...
Yeah, but do you like every gift you receive? No. You're saying too bad if you feel you're born the wrong gender - just get used to the suicidal thoughts and self-loathing? Just deal with it? Why can't they do something that will make them truly happy, instead of shutting up and being miserable? Let them do something that makes them happy, we need more of it in the world. I for one can attest that if I had been born a boy I would have been much happier. I hate being female, I feel uncomfortable in my skin, and with already having severe depression - it just makes things worse.
+Orel Benisti " It's a medical condition! If you have it you NEED therapy." Uh, yes, they do get therapy, and they get treated. You should look up what the treatment for gender dysphoria is.
I'm not hating or anything, but... Why would people abandon their former self and become completely different? How is that something people would want to do?
Oktay Yildirim A trans person's "former self" is an act that they put on for the benefit of others, to get along in society at they expense of their own feelings. Most trans people don't become "completely different" they just stop doing the things that were false. Their values are usually the same, their personality is often largely the same, etc.
Oktay Yildirim They were never themselves. The abandoned the mask that they were born with so they could be the person they were inside the entire time.
I'm the same person. I'm just happier now, because I can actually be genuine. The only thing that's really changed concretely is pronouns, and now I wear a binder...
Mosa Karem Because biology screwed up and gave them the wrong body when they were born and right brain. We can't change the brain to fit the body, so we change the body to fit the brain.
Mosa Karem There is some science (though this is old and I haven't kept up with it) that suggests that a Trans Woman though born male in most respects actually was born with a brain that is much closer to a female brain, there are some subtle differences in various parts of the brain between men and women. The same is true of a Trans man, a brain much closer to a Males than a females. As such they think and feel the way the gender opposite from their birth feels. Because the technology today exists to allow them to change their outward appearance to match their insides it just makes sense to do that. I grew up horridly confused about my Gender Identity . I liked girls I knew I wasn't Gay, but I didn't and still don't feel totally male. For a while I actually thought of my self as a Trans woman but that didn't seem right either because I didn't feel totally female, I honestly bounced back and fourth between trying to figure out who I was. Eventually I just decided to take a cue from How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and refer to my "little guy" as Princess Sophia, and accept I'm physically a boy just a super girlie one. Some Times I use Bi-Gender but it doesn't come up. For a Transperson it basically makes them whole, it helps prevent needless mental instability from the stress of their gender role, allows them to function much better. If you had an issue with your arm that required it to be amputated and they put on a prosthetic arm you wouldn't call them a freak, if you knew someone that had to have a lung removed and needed to use an O2 tank you won't consider it an issue. If you had a child missing an Ear and they had one surgically added you wouldn't think twice... Pigs heart no problem. But put in Breast implants, and turn a penis into a vagina and suddenly people have an issue. Some People are born with out a finger or with a tail. Some people are born with the wrong gender.
Taylor Hober The possibility of your words be true, but some people change their bodies just to change without a real reason for it and I think this is a mistake must be a change for medical necessity, for example, there is a risk to a person's health
Mosa Karem Thus why DSM has a diagnosis for it called 'gender dysphoria' in DSM V (what psychologists refer to). Trans people get evaluated to ensure there isn't schizophrenia or some other side-item that might make them THINK they want it but it's not actually dysphoria (which is a medical risk in how it gradually tortures someone psychologically). In my case, I went to a psychologist for only 2 months before he was willing to write me a letter of recommendation to a endocrinologist for hormone treatment. I was 19 at the time so I was of age so there was a lot less red tape to deal with. Most endocrinologists require a letter of recommendation from a psychologist before they are willing to start your hormone treatment. Most surgeons will not allow you to have surgery unless you have 2 letters of recommendation from 2 different psychologists, are over 18 years of age, and have been on hormone therapy and living as your identified gender for at least a year. This isn't the kind of thing that people can do just for the fun of it.
Trans people are absolutely so strong, it really touches me! I couldn't imagine having to go through life not feeling like my true self! Do whatever makes you happy loves, because that's all that matters
This is scary because what if someone really wants to date a guy or girl and it turns out later that they were really another gender 0_o I hope they tell their significant other the truth before they do anything
It will change because I'm dating someone who used to be someone else. What if I wanted to have children? I would feel deceived. The person might not change but my perspective of them would.
Katie Wiseman Mostly a lottery of genetics and how early you go on hormones. The later you start, the more time testosterone's had to mess up your body further, unfortunately. :(
So proud of all these people coming out. I know, if I ever decide to have children, I will accept them and love them even if they don't feel connected with the gender they're given at birth. You love people as they are.
Buzzfeed's promoting education, so people don't bash illogically. The only "abnormality" with transpeople is how their sexual features and/or chromosomes did stuff.
Brittany Brown this only proves how little you know or understand of religions. Besides Islam I honestly don't know aby religion that promotes hate even towards the ones that are against it. In the Bible it says to love your freaking enemy, where is 'hate' mentioned?? Where is hate in Buddhism, Confucianism etc. ?? Don't be so narrow-minded.
Bopeepout How to answer that question depends on what side of the argument you stand on. I mean, there are a lot of things wrong with people, but you'll have to specify in this case.
My Brother (female to male) just came out about a month ago! I am so proud of him, but trust me, changing pronouns isn't very easy. I still mess up now and then, but I try to catch it and fix it right away! I have so much respect for these #TransStory videos! Please BuzzFeed, keep making more. These are good to show to people who don't really understand what being trans is, and I love to watch them! (Also I really don't want to have a tread of people hating on each other so try to keep the replies nice!)
All my love and support goes out to closeted, transitioning, or transitioned trans men and women. Best of luck, you are all wonderful and don't let anyone put you guys down! From a cisgender female :D
Im trans (FTM) and i go to an all girls catholic school, i've come out to my family and freinds but i dont know how to come out to my school and everyone else. It scares me so much but im so glad to have my friends who are super supportive.
Hey Buzzfeed! Loved the video. Are you going to do any videos on Non-binary genders at all? Or any videos about what it's like to transition while not being either male or female?
That must be such a tough call to make. Especially to your parents. Really inspirational to see the level of courage these people have to overcome not only society's perception of themselves but also their own and physically and mentally become what they truly are.
I think it's great to hear from older transgender people and their stories because now at days we only hear about the teens struggling in society's and coming out but we barley ever hear about the older and adults that have been through this.. It's like a telling the world that transgender people are truly a part of society and not just a "teenage phase"!
I love the girl with the red hair(Jen I think). She is so confident, more so than most people I know. I have so much respect for all of them honestly. This was a different perspective and I found it very interesting:)
I'd love a video with Rocco K and Buck Angel talking about their transitions and their various choices, the topic of whether or not to have bottom surgery could be a really interesting one (Especially if Rocco has)
My heart hurts for all the struggles these people have had to face. I can't imagine how it must be to feel so uncomfortable in your own skin. Much strength and love to all Trans people.
My best friend is transgender and I love him so much. He told me when his binder arrives I'm the first person he's gonna show it to on. He's honestly the best 💜
I don't care what you are, who you are, the color of your skin, or the gender you feel most comfortable with. As long as you're happy, I'm happy for you. Don't let haters who refuse to understand get to you. Just be you!
Lovely to see how accepting buzzfeed is, unlike a lot of their viewers
A little too acceptive.
Spencer Romero Better to accept too much than too little, as history keeps showing.
***** boom truth!!! Thank you
No one has to accept anything, not everyone is gonna have the same beliefs.get over it
Ally Vee People should at least accept other people. You shouldn't take away someones right just because you don't "believe" in what they are doing.
I have so much respect for the LGBT communtiy
Thank you
Connley Poo Geez. Congrats, you're a despicable person.
Jack Hayward Why
Hayden Hughes Why?
Connley Poo You're fucking disgusting.
I came out to my friends today and my boyfriend came out to me as bisexual, so everything worked out and went really smooth! I'm coming out to my mom after I get my haircut tomorrow
Good luck! Hope everything goes well
Good luck! I hope everything goes smoothly :)
Congrats! Good luck :)
Good luck on getting through this phase
Congratulations love. This is great for you. I hope this helps your life. And I bet your hair will look great.
My friend recently came out as ftm transgender and I'm so proud of him. He's one of the most confident people I know. He came out in front of our whole school and he's only a freshman and we go to a pretty conservative school. I have nothing but endless respect for the trans community
I love that you are using proper pronouns :) Tell him I wish him luck on his journey!
After only hearing this about him, I aspire to be like him. He sounds so amazing and I feel like I'm practically trying to do that as is.
God bless. You are an amazing friend
Awww sooo sweet of you to give him the prounouns :)
She must be brave to do that in a conservative school. Heh
I'm a transguy and this made me extremely happy. Thanks Buzzfeed.
please text me i wanna be a trans guy and wanna come out tonight any tips?!
Snort protein powder. Boil eugenix on a spoon then drink it. And glue drain hair on your chin to make a goatee. That’s the bootleg version. If you wanna properly do it, it gonna cost you big money.
no you are mentally confused
I love these videos. Thank you buzzfeed for bringing these topics into the light and in a supportive way. I support lgbt all the way.

Omg I love panic! And mcr
Gianna Fontanez Me too! what's your favorite Panic! song? I really love "Build God, Then We'll Talk" or Lying... Now would be Girls/Girls/Boys!
That's why I chose more than one lol Brendon sing the word trash over and over, and I would still call it good. I'm crazed.
I'm not surprised your accepting. Killjoys rock and love everyone. I'm a killjoy too brother. And I'm trans also.
Who else can't wait for the day when being gay or Changing gender isn't Even an issue and is more natural
Not me. The world would be screwed up
XxSoraGirl99xX -Black Rock Shooter That day is already here. They are accepted by most Western countries.
*Raises a million fucking hands*
***** Your brain controls the body. Your brain is your body. You can't live without your head. It has nothing to so with body at all. It has to do with brain. And if you're feeling like you're a different gender in your head, and if you're feeling like you belong into different sex, obviously, it means you should do something about it. Your brain controls everything, and your feelings are in your brain. Not your body. So this "but you have a male body" thing means absolutely nothing. Just think about it. It's like saying "you're not hungry because you're fat" - it makes no sense.
BudderMan Why would you want something that does not occur in nature to become ,as you say ''more natural''?
I love the finnish language so much because we don't have male and female pronouns, everyone's the same :)
That's so cool! I never knew that :)
All the closed minded people in the comments make me very sad...
It's kinda disgusting.
Oh god their even invading me!! ;~; go away, horrible people
Connley Poo That, sir, is the true definition of closed minded.
Will H Calling someone disgusting for it is the point I was making, Have your own opinions but try not to shove the abusive ones onto other people.
I think transgendered people are so interesting because they seem to have such a refreshing attitude on society because they've felt pain and happiness all at the same time. I completely support the LGBT community and always will
Btw guys, most of this trans are not gay. Being transgender and gay are usually not the same thing.
AztectheKing Physically, it is gay, because if you were born with male genitals and male organs and become trans and date a male, then that would be homosexual in some form. On the other hand, it wouldn't mentally be gay considering you have the mind of a female, just stuck in the wrong body.
Will H yeah, it's kinda complex xD
Will H No it isn't, gender and sexuality are two different things.
Will H No it isn't, gender and sexuality are two different things.
Look, even if you don't agree with or like an LGBT lifestyle, there's no actual point in being rude to people just because.
+Demonic Cupcake
Speaking as someone who transitioned in the nineties I agree. May I add that being transgender may be a lifestyle to some Transsexual is not a lifestyle and that is a fact.
sure there is, because if left unchecked you get 2023
all of the small minded people thinking or leaving negative comments claiming they're "disgusted" or dont agree with it make me chuckle, its a shame your views are so shallow :)
Heather Barrera Racism isn't even fully solved yet. I think it's quite a big as for humans to accept something as bizarre as this.
Alissa Bonnett just because one thing isn't solved doesn't mean you give up on everything else that needs solving
no, its not a "big ask" for people to accept this and this is not bizzare, like the lady in the video said - some people change their name and pronouns, lets move on. its not that big of a deal, much like the colour of someones skin, neither of these things should be an issue, but they are because some people are small minded :)
Heather Barrera I agree, I may not understand it but I accept it and have the upmost respect for them for coming out and saying who they are. Life is too short to not be yourself.
Sophie Jackson if people were widely changing the color of their skin, would it be supported by the masses?
People is really rude with the trans comunity. You have no idea of how it feels, and you are not in your right of judging anyone because you don't know nothing. People are on their right of being whoever they want to be, and if that implies being the opposite sex, then let em be.
Connley Poo "Do you even English" isn't grammatically correct either.
Connley Poo The only shitty person here is you, Poo.
***** They will hopefully come around eventually. It was the same way many years ago towards the gay and lesbian community, and look how far they've come now.
***** If they have the right to be trans do I have the right to no like that?
Who knows.
I hope it works out well in the transitioning aspect for you.
You are awesome. Adversity really shows what a person is made of, and it sounds like you bloody crushed it.

if parents express that the gender of their baby doesnt matter to them while still in the womb, why does it matter so much to them if their child doesnt identify with their assigned gender?
***** then get enough money to build an underwater house
I like you.
tyrannosaurus lex cuz it’s expensive to change your gender. Also you get what you get and you don’t get upset
I respect the LGBT community because I have a friend he is trans and also other ones that are gay/lesbian.
DarkLucario444 I don't respect the LGBT community because I don't have a friend that is trans and other ones that are gay/lesbian.
^ it doesn't matter if you have a friend like that. You should support it anyways
That's the point, the op should respect them as well not because they have those friends.. that's like saying, I'm not a racist my best friend is black! Which is recognized to be wrong
I'm only 13 and respecting the LGBT community so pull your socks up.
***** here are the facts that as i understand it:
1, That comment didn't make any sense.
Wow that woman in brown hair and purple leather jacket REALLY looked like Bruce Jenner!!
Omg ikr!!
....please, don't.
Not really
I actually agree with you. I thought the same thing honestly.
30 years ago Bruce Jenner
The girl with blondish hair and glasses is gorgeous! ❤️❤️

it's amazing because with half of these people you can't even tell. they all seem so happy, despite all of the hate they get. i have so much respect for them...
I support the LGBTQ community not because they are special, but because they are people as well who deserve to be respected. And seeing the nasty comments in the comment section make me support them even more.
I feel like the transition from a female to a male is so much more easier to cover and is more low key than the transition of a man to a woman
Thanks for being brave enough to share that. :)
It'll get better
Im sending love, good vibes and support to all these brave men and women being true to themselves in such a glaring cruel world.
Why are there so many hate comments on positive videos about transgender people everyone is human and nobody should treat anyone as less than that
My BF is trans and I love him so much ♥
guy in the red plaid has a way more successful transformation than the others..
BostonSecret45 It's easier for a woman to look like a man than the other way around.
Liradu2 true :/
Immajeanyus No it's just harder for men to look female
Success of a transition isn't measured in terms of how well they "pass" as the gender they identify with, and it's actually really disrespectful to say stuff like that.
BostonSecret45 :/ thats rude
in my opinion, being a happy person as yourself however you define that is really the only important thing. Life is too short to not be comfortable in your own skin.
the lady called Jen makes me feel SO HAPPY AHH SHES SO CHILL BUT SO JOLLY
Everyone deserves to be happy. I think people who go through drastic changes and know that not everyone is cool/ accepting but do it anyway should receive a standing ovation. Kick ass, guys/ girls. This was an awesome video.
I'm really glad the trans community is being properly acknowledged.
To the people calling it "unnatural," I want offer a piece of advice:
Even if you don't understand someone's feelings, you can still respect them.
KatzyKins This needs way more likes than it has.
I'm a proud Mom of a transgendered son and couldn't be more proud of him.
Seriously, i don't understand why there's so many hate comments about transgender, how someone after hearing this and thinking how horrible must be being in a body that doesn't correspond how you feel can say that it's bad or it's a sin or whatever? o.o
María Pascual Reina There's a ton of evil people in this world. We can only fight them with love. And a couple of shitstorms. Hah.
Yeah, much more of what i've thought... I hope one day they realize that they're making a mistake :/
Quadriplegics........
Epicmobmaster Sure, sure.
your body wont comply....
"It's like going from a 2-dimensional person to a 3-dimensional person" SO ACCURATE!!
I would have never thought the guy was a girl before.
They are so amazing! They inspire me to be more confident! They are so strong!! ❤️👏🏽🙌🏾💪🏽
Yeah cuz his beard
I have a joke
how many phones I have for every gender?
answer: I got 2 phones
*hilarious and original*
😂😂😂😂👌
there were only two genders in this video...
nobody wants or needs your hate especially when it not related to the actual video 😂
There are more than 2 genders, and transgender isnt even a gender
I'm trans. I'm a real boy too.
Pinocchio.
My brother watched Pinocchio and after that he went to use a public restroom. A guy stopped him before he went and said
"Little girl, that's the boys restroom" (My bro has long hair)
Then my brother said "BUT IM A REAL BOY!"
XD Idek....
As a transmale:
Thank you, BuzzFeed, for doing sth.
I already said this in another video, but damn, Jen has the ability to explain things in such a casual and calm way. I'd love to be her friend.
My older brother knows I'm bi and doesn't really like that xD
I'm pretty sure on the bi thing but I'm also beginning to solidify the fluid thing.
Pierce Rome Thank you so much, I do. I'll pm it :3
this was actually lovely, they are all so brave
feel free to have your opinion mate, but if its negative, please refrain form announcing it Connley Poo
Very brave
Epicmobmaster yes very brave
I accept them
Epicmobmaster same
I know I sound like a douchebag and an asshole but tbh, I was feeling weird, and kind of disgusted and that's just my opinion, I feel good for these people and what they accomplished but it just is weird to me, and that is the truth.
#biggot
Sorry Amy Kilbride I just had to say the truth. Sorry.
Goria Akash I respect you for saying that, but how do you think it makes other people feel in that situation?
Goria Akash Feeling weird and disgusted is not an opinion...it's a feeling.
To all the trans people out there, it doesn't matter what parts you have, it just matters what kind of hearts you have. Be yourself.
I cried.... I can't imagine the struggle, im immensely proud and respect the bravery that coming out must have taken.
i'm nonbinary and my parents are super conservative so i have no idea what to do because i know i'll be homeless if i come out (my mom said so)
I feel so bad for you. You really shouldn't have to go through that, but you also shouldn't really be bottling up the fact that you're non-binary inside. If she really loves you, she'll understand.
Scrappy Animations no one needs your negativity, honey, it's not like you telling people to kill themselves (even if you don't agree with what they say/are) is gonna make the world any better
somebody once told me the world was gonna roll me it gets better, darling, someday you're gonna be an adult and independent person and you're gonna have friends who love and support you and you won't have to care about people who don't accept you. i know it's hard when it's your parents, but sometimes you gotta stand up for yourself. just have hope, the future is beautiful
outsider It will make the world better if he actually does it.
Scrappy Animations oh yeah totally if one person in a world where there are 7 billion people kill themselves the world is gonna be so much better
TRANS PEOPLE, YOU ARE MY FAVORITE PEOPLE!!! :)
So true. 👏👏👏
I have something to say that’s kinda discrimination
I was born White, but I always felt that I was black from the inside.
So I decided to cover myself with Nutella©.
Copyrighted by Nutella©.
MJ Jaber Uhh,tasty I guess?
***** Open your legs. Job done :D
MJ Jaber I respect your transition and your bravery. God bless Nutella.
Please don't pretend it is just a joke, it is like saying being transgender is a joke itself
Nice! I respect man
It makes me so happy that these people have come so far from different backgrounds, yet it makes me sad that its not like that for everyone. Sometimes people don't get a happy ending, but I think its great that people tell their stories to give that hope that things can change. It might not always get better, but it can change. It WILL change.
For anyone who is struggling or scared, please know that people are out there who will listen and support you. I love you guys.
I love how this is basically a normal thing now. One of my neighbors formulary names Pablo came out as a trans female.... and he's 10
she* if someone is a trans female (transitioning into female), then use female pronouns.
+CrafterQueen or male pronouns because that's what he actually is
It's not considered a normal thing. Have you looked at the comments of all trans-related videos Buzzfeed has made? Have you seen how many trans people are harrassed, attacked, raped and even killed on a daily basis for being trans?
hoo hoo well maybe they should stop playing dress up then since it's so hazardous apparently
+Life_With_Adrian I agree with the last sentence. But humans are here to survive and reproduce. Trans people cannot reproduce.
When Buzzfeed does beautiful, it really works.
Everyone here complaining about close minded people in the comments... Yet I see none...
peepslostsheep Those people always have replies turned off as well. It's rather telling.
More! More! I love hearing these stories. Very inspirational to hear of the families' acceptance and love, as well.
Oo i found my old comment lol i told my mom but i have to tell my dad now ✌️
i told my dad a month after that comment yay lo.l
@@qewdascz1839 nice
This is the real struggle.
Be gay, be lesbian, be straight. Just don't change yourself.

shut up
True.
That wasn't 2 words...
Mohammed Hoque so true
I Sir Laughsalot
There's so much truth in this, but also I love you XDD That was perfect.
I'm just gonna say this. I love how that lady said she doesn't require much of anyone except that they change her name and gender. A lot of people these days are very picky about their pronouns and stuff so I loved how she said that
What beautiful healthy hair they all have. Wow. And the trans Man? I would never have had any idea of his change had he not told us.
why do we have these videos? Making trans a big deal makes it "different". If we just let it happen and don't talk about it then it will be normalized.
Waves That's not how change happens. Never have change come from ignoring these things.
Waves Because trans women are still killed EVERY SINGLE DAY and we need to humanize them so people start caring.
Seriously
Whats up with all this pity shit
I don't have to pity you
Suck one
its funny how when gay & trans people speak about their struggle people feel sorry for them & get all the sympathy in the world..
but when black people speak about r struggles we're told to get over it & stop complaining .... totally dismissing us..
this isn't the oppression olympics, all minorities struggle with discrimination and hate
They are called chromosomes
Mason Wedel No. They are called humans. Chromosomes hold info in your cells and determine your biological gender. Please specify.
Mason Wedel Chromosomes are a bit dodgey as well. It's not just XX and XY, there's also XXY, XYY, XXX, and X. Along with that, there are ciswomen who are born with XY chromosomes.
Danika Diskord all mutations and a ciswomen isn't transgender
Then why only use Chromosomes as an argument?
Mason Wedel Everybody is born with mutations, dawg, some are just more obvious than others. Learn to genetics.
This videos are very important. They have really made me more understanding. Thanks buzzfeed keep it up!
Wow, all of these people are so beautiful and amazing for being themselves. Honestly, I admire their bravery so much. Thank you, buzzfeed, for producing this video ❤️

I wonder how they are doing in terms of relationships. If I was a straight dude going out with those used-to-be guys it would make me feel uncomfortable, because biologically he/she is a guy.
. Oh yeah duh *smacks self on forehead*
patrick star There are straight guys who are perfectly fine with going out with a transwoman.
^Name somwe. Tell me, don't just say you do.
Let's say a brother and sister are dating is that ok because you can't controll your feelings?I mean seriously...
you are an insolent fool
Yeah, but do you like every gift you receive? No. You're saying too bad if you feel you're born the wrong gender - just get used to the suicidal thoughts and self-loathing? Just deal with it? Why can't they do something that will make them truly happy, instead of shutting up and being miserable? Let them do something that makes them happy, we need more of it in the world. I for one can attest that if I had been born a boy I would have been much happier. I hate being female, I feel uncomfortable in my skin, and with already having severe depression - it just makes things worse.
+Orel Benisti " It's a medical condition! If you have it you NEED therapy."
Uh, yes, they do get therapy, and they get treated. You should look up what the treatment for gender dysphoria is.
Shock Therapy thats not a cure. Its masking the symptoms and failing.
I love all these videos about transgender issues. I really hope that you don't stop doing these because they're very educational.
I really can't imagine how hard all of this might be.. All i know is that these people are so strong
Oktay Yildirim You got it backwards - They become their actual selves after having been something different :)
Ok, ok, ok!! I got it! No need to keep commenting! I understand now. Thanks to all of you who did comment, though!
No Guys They Are Not "Him" Or "Her" They Are "Its"
JK
Oscar Serra So not true.
They are what they wish to be called. They all have different pronouns.
Jaden Simmons Stop projecting.
Not an appropriate joke. Get a life.
***** wow.
Why people change their genders? ??
I'm crying oh my god thank you for making this it's so hard to find people who will represent us in a kind way without treating us as a joke
Trans people are absolutely so strong, it really touches me! I couldn't imagine having to go through life not feeling like my true self! Do whatever makes you happy loves, because that's all that matters
This is scary because what if someone really wants to date a guy or girl and it turns out later that they were really another gender
0_o
I hope they tell their significant other the truth before they do anything
That Thing You See At The Corner Of Your Eye Of course they do and I don't see any problems with it...if you love him/her truly it won't bother you
Reminds of the song Lola by The Kinks ☺️
I don't really have a problem with it unless they don't tell the person their with about it (I would feel like they deceived them )
But it's their past. It has nothing to so with the present or the future. Nothing in that person should change if they tell you they are trans.
It will change because I'm dating someone who used to be someone else. What if I wanted to have children? I would feel deceived. The person might not change but my perspective of them would.
Is a transfat a fat person who's also trans?
*TripleFacepalm
Hahaha your hilarious😒
XDDD
Wow lol
HA!
Some RUFF looking women I'm sorry
They are all beautiful
Katie Wiseman Mostly a lottery of genetics and how early you go on hormones. The later you start, the more time testosterone's had to mess up your body further, unfortunately. :(
This was really interesting to watch :)
Thanks for sharing!
Sam's Typical Life Just my thought! :)
So proud of all these people coming out. I know, if I ever decide to have children, I will accept them and love them even if they don't feel connected with the gender they're given at birth. You love people as they are.
Buzzfeed , you really need to stoo promoting abnormality ...
BlueSwampyCraft You just need to change your ways or go away.
Buzzfeed's promoting education, so people don't bash illogically. The only "abnormality" with transpeople is how their sexual features and/or chromosomes did stuff.
***** you need Jesus in your life
Brittany Brown this only proves how little you know or understand of religions. Besides Islam I honestly don't know aby religion that promotes hate even towards the ones that are against it. In the Bible it says to love your freaking enemy, where is 'hate' mentioned?? Where is hate in Buddhism, Confucianism etc. ?? Don't be so narrow-minded.
Homophobic.....
Ziam1DsGurl How? How is being transgender homophobic in any way shape or form? Please enlighten me.
Alba Prince I want to know to.
Yall r stupid....he's just a troll lmao
Brent Boyd true!
***** so now I can't comment anything I want
What is wrong with people..
Bopeepout Idk man. Idk whats wrong with you.
Bopeepout
How to answer that question depends on what side of the argument you stand on. I mean, there are a lot of things wrong with people, but you'll have to specify in this case.
That affects you how?
Bopeepout Why are you using them as a example? They were the first people to do a sin!
Bopeepout I thought religious people LOVE EVERYONE no matter what. Being Gay is not a sin. Disrespecting people for who they're is a sin.
I saw the woman in the purple jacket at BentCon last year on a panel! Wonderful lady.
This is one of those REALLY DEEP Buzzfeed videos
They're strong people
That must be such a tough call to make. Especially to your parents. Really inspirational to see the level of courage these people have to overcome not only society's perception of themselves but also their own and physically and mentally become what they truly are.
I'm gonna show this video to a special friend to give her some support
