I see big red flags too ... i dated a non believer who had more respect for my waiting for marriage wishes than the man i dated after who was a christian man. It left me with alot of pain and self doubt when i left him. He took so much from me.

If he was actively seeking the Lord (whatever that means to you) then he would obey Him and put God first even before his own sexual desires and relationships. Its easy to judge character by its fruits. This fruit does not sound good.

My whole short life I’ve struggled with the phrase “what if “ and you’ve answered it, man! What if I’m not good enough, what if me saying this made him not like me and all these questions and doubts and pain, things no one remembers .... Love shouldn’t be conditional and Gods love certainly isn’t conditional!!
This was... necessary. I asked hard questions in the beginning of my current relationship, but I didn’t know what answers I was supposed to be looking for. This helps.

Same here. Struggle a lot with this, because some people will try to negotiate by saying you can have that stuff without God and that not being a Christian or being as serious makes finding relationships easier. Committed relationship and marriage is not the same. That's the main reason I would not want to live with someone I'm not married to, if they don't propose they'll say that we basically are a married couple without the papers and that it shouldn't matter. Thanks so much for sharing this Emily. I have to admit I definitely used to downplay how important conviction is and would end up with wishy-washy type of guyswhen it came to Purity but I've learnt from my mistakes and this video was a real encouragement to that decision

I turned 20 this year and I have been thinking a lot of marriage and the future and meeting the right guy when God provides the timing. But it's so intimidating to bring such topics up. Any tips and when the right time is to ask?
Could you wait ten years for God to bring you the right man? Trust in God can be really daunting but always worth it. If you really want Gods ways make sure you are ready and believing. He will never set you to fail but times are very hard for us faith people now, we are always under attack. I say the best thing you can do now is bring up the subject more and more with people you trust men and women. You need to educate yourself so you will not be vulnerable to lies. This channel and allyson rowes channel helps, but ask the hard questions. Learn about sex, marriage and why the divorce rate is so high. Why men are choosing not to marry etc. We have so many things to learn as not to end up like the previous two generations, too busy with careers to run a home and to keep a family and nation together. If your church leaders cant answer your questions come right to this channel or some male channels like this and most importantly pray.

Great video Emily! I was wondering should conviction also apply beyond morals, in what the guy is doing with his life(job/vocation)? For instance is it a good/bad idea to date someone who is still unsure if he wants to go into religious life or not sure what he wants to do with his career if we are both still young?
There's no problem with being unsure, certainly! Ambition is an important characteristic to look for, but having one's life direction totally figured out certainly takes time.

I want a man that has the same values as me, as you have described. But I really don't think those men will appear in my life, so rare.
But what if you can teach him about the beauty of waiting until marriage? If he's actively pursuing the Lord and is open to learning and knowing more about why the woman wants to wait until marriage? You're supposed to teach one another and lead each other closer to Christ, what if she can help open his eyes and teach him as well as him teaching her..If he's a good holy man, and is still learning and open to the Lord, that is good. Why does it have to be an end all be all black and white? What if it becomes a constant and you were that light for him?
That depends on what you as a woman are searching for in your dating life, which is why I asked her the question...what do you want in a man? I never said it has to be an end all be all black and white. She desired to date a man who sees it as a constant, so this wasn't right for her. Some women are open to what you are talking about - sharing about that and helping the guy see the beauty of it, which is perfectly fine and good. But some women want to date a man who shares their convictions from the get-go, which is fine, too. Every woman gets to decide for herself what she is and is not open to in shared faith, values, moral compass, etc.

I am not convinced that the giy in this situation really wants celibacy or to settle down. His words seem to me as a way to leave the back door open for sexual encounters. You have realize now more than ever women of all ages are throwing themselves at men. All guys have to do is show up, so what incentives does tje guy have to wait at all his sins are forgiven right? Thats probably how hes thinking so he leaves a door open for sex. Becuase the correct question to be asked in the video is, 'what if the right girl hasnt come around? Is he just sleeping around like everyother tom, dick, and Harry who wears a cross necklace and knows a few bible verses. Remember thr lesson of the wheat and the shaft and keep your guard up.

I want a man who accepts me and loves me for me , even through depression, anxiety mind shit fits, sick days bummy, days too. Oh yeah, who is not married or a player and has a job. I can even do that!! Who doesn't verbal, mental, physically abusive me and is spiritual. If he is religious then don't try to make and change me. Just accept me for me and don't try to change me.
What are your thoughts on dreaming about a guy you like and what does it mean? I am a sophomore in college currently and still like a guy that I went to high school with. We had a lot of classes together senior year as we were both interested in something in the medical field and he was always nice when we were around each other but we never hung out or really ever talked a whole lot. I was and still am a quiet person and was always too nervous to talk to him. A few weeks ago i had a dream about him. We were on a ‘scavenger hunt’ type thing and his parents were there at the end. And at the end of it he gave me note where he basically professed his love to me and said that he felt that way since high school and he wanted to know what I thought. I nicely asked his parents to give us a few minutes to talk and then I woke up. Again this was a dream and I have not been able to to stop thinking about it. We don’t talk and the last time i saw him was a glimpse of him for like 2 seconds in December when we were both home for a basketball game in our home town. We got to separate colleges, him out of state. What does my dream mean and what do i do about it???? Plz help a girl out!!!

You´re talking about a convicted man. I was once deeply convicted in my faith and even tough my ex girlfriend wasn´t as convicted as I was on the issue of faith and purity I still didn´t sleep with her out of conviction. After 2 years she broke up with me because of different opinios on faith and it was hard to go trough a breakup, when the only reason for the break up was the faith. Now I am over it but I am questioning lot of those convictions. Being on a liberal Campus and seeing the plurality of opinins and convictions even in the catholic church don´t make it easier when you´re trying to seek truth. The majority of theology professors in Germany think that sex before marriage is Ok and the arguements seem pretty good. The contrast betweeen the teaching of the church and the reality of what catholics live is huge and only a small proportion follows the ideal of the church.
I used to believe in no sex before marriage but I´m not sure about that anymore. Does my uncertainty make me now "less recommendable" for other catholic girls?
M1and5M I understand your situation, because I also study in a liberal university where people have so many different views on life. It challenges faith. Despite the difficulties I try to stand my ground, but I couldn't give you a huge piece of advice, all I've done is stick to God even in my doubts, even when it's really hard, because I trust that someday I'll be able to understand, so far I hold on to His goodness and faithfulness. What has made me be convicted about purity is 1 Corinthians 6:16-20 in the version The Message. If it's ok with you, I'd like to know what arguments you've listened from your professors, I'm curious about it.
if you truly are a godly man you should keep god's law and pray to him to help you to open up your eye to see that its a sin to have sex before marriage. Sex before marriage strays you away from god.

Hi Meagan! I didn't say you need vows to show you're committed to someone - I said vows are the difference between a long-term committed relationship and a marriage.
Spiritually a vow is life long it lets you, God, and the community know that you are serious about the actions you are committing since you are putting your personal word, faith, and material assets all on the line. You are saying essentially I choose this one person out of billions as my lifelong partner and heres proof. Marriage is not what it used to be culturally but it can be for you individually.

And why can't she be the spiritual leader in the relationship? Why does leadership have to be gendered? Why can't she teach him about conviction? Does it really matter to god whether the man or the woman was the leader if the results are the same?
