"If you were to face an ancient Sith Lord in combat, you would learn that we are as children playing with toys compared to the prowess of the old Masters."
Considering what we've actually seen if them she appears to have greatly overestimated them
@@brucejedilee5290 In Disney's failed canon perhaps
@@jakelee5096 No, I am talking about in the old EU (Disney hasn't done much with the ancient Sith). The ancient Sith Kreia was talking about are the likes of Marka Ragnos, Naga Sadow, Ludo Kressh, Exar Kun, Ulic Qel Droma, Aleema Keto and Darth Andeddu. We have feats for all of these Sith, we have seen their force power and skills with the lightsaber. All of them were powerful and skilled but not to the degree Kreia claims. The greatest Jedi and Sith of her age and after could all compare to them. Hell Revan could probably beat just about all of them (not at once of course).
@@brucejedilee5290 Now your underestimating them the old sith were almost gods. Like how Revan tried to kill vitiate but failed.
@@kylewilliams5454 but Viciate was like reaaaaally on another level. If you think about HOW he is defeated by The Outlander, you might come to question if he was really defeated, or if we were watching a series of wishful thoughts inside the mind of the Outlander. He is the ultimate Dark God and I think we'll se more about him in future SWTOR expansions.

However for me I idealize both cause nihlus and reaven both saw Jedi and sith or really almost all force sensitives as an enemy which in my opinion is what true sith are.
Nihilus was great because he was like a dark mirror of the Exile, showing what the Exile would have become if they hadn't cut themselves off from the Force after Malachor. Wish there had been more on him.
I think it works better when he has shortest amount of screen time among the Sith Triumvirate. Kreia did say what makes Nihilus a terrifying monster was also his glaring weakness, a weakness only the Exile could exploit. To other beings connected to the Force, Nihilus is an unstoppable monster, but to the Exile he is nothing more than a rotting huskthat needs to be put down for good.

Blaming Disney for what the current content Lucasfilm has released on the other hand is misguided at best.

@@4477superman
Put simply. Darth Nihilus WAS the dark side of the force.
My favorite line in all of this (and I love Kreia’s performance of it):
“And he cares NOTHING for the Sith or their teachings or the Jedi…”
That one line truly puts Darth Nihilus on his own level. People call him a Sith Lord, but he does not recognize himself as such and Kreia herself doubts that he is even of the same race anymore. Someone in the comments put it best. He is an entity in the Force now. What a truly terrible fate.
He is literally a wound in the force. That is all he is. A wound in the force and some dim, vaguely human consciousness bound to a set of armor, without even a corporeal body anymore. Just a pure hunger.
I shudder to think what would happen if he were to encounter Abeloth
@@cheater21211considering how powerful Abeloth and the Mortis Gods were with the force. It may be a challenge but the stronger one was with the force the bigger of a target it became for Nihilus.
You can even hear the venom in her words when she says he's not a sith. That just great voice acting.
Great characters both of them.
This is why I love nihilus as a villain.
You don’t know where it came from. You don’t know what it wanted. You don’t even know what it is or why it kills. All you know is it can show up, when you’re not prepared and there’s almost nothing anyone can do to stop it. That’s a terrifying villain. A villain you don’t know and never will.
For more scary than “somehow Palpatine returned.”
His remains, (the mask to which his essence was bound to as well as his armor) are buried on Koriband/Moriband. And is still continuing to feed on the planets energy even well after the fall of the Galactic Empire.
All someone has to do is find the mask and put it on and Darth Nihilus returns with a new host body and will continue to feed. And if that Individual is strong with the dark side, that's just adding to the madness. And with nobody like the Exile who is completely cut off from the force , it doesn't matter how low force sensitive you were, he would be unstoppable. his force drain, saber skills and red force lightning (which is said to be much stronger than Darth Sidious)...the galaxy is finished.
And cutting yourself off like the Exile did, it almost killed her. So Ray or other force users wouldn't be able to survive.
Also considering that all he would have to do is stand in your presence, or speak in order to drain you and kill you.
If I may nihilus does have a story, it's the reverse of the exile. The exile cut herself off from the force to save herself, nihilus on the other hand gave into the force, the pain and screams at Malacor V, and he became what we all remember, a spirit which only does one thing, consume. It's like if the grim reaper and a black hole were somehow combined.
Nihilus is basically the perfect sith, and an embodiment of the failings of their teachings. He is powerful enough to kill a planet, yet completely powerless, a slave to his hunger. He is Kreia's lesson of strength personified.
This is why Kreia considers it and Sion both failures. They are made powerful and free by the force, yes, but they are enslaved to the force, they can only exist off of the force’s back, off of feeding off of the destruction and death the dark side commands.
It is a far worse fate then even she could have predicted.
@@goroakechi6126yea but unlike sion who was holding himself together due his anger, nihilus was literally a wound in the force, he was way above sion and traya due the sheer fact that his powerscaling was infinite, he couldve consumed the entire galaxy if not stopped, and then jump to another galaxy and so on... what fascinates me is that darth vitiate never sensed nihilus nor viceverse, they were the most powerfull entities that existed in the galaxy at the same time yet they never met, what a glorious battle it wouldve been.
Pretty much means the Sith themselves are failures since they corrupt the force
@@JDog2656 The force itself is a form of corruption. It has a will and imposes on everything that possesses life.
@@OldFarmerJoe1 it'd be interesting as to my understanding only being cut off from the force would give you immunity to his abilities and vitiate definitely ain't cut off from the force. However vitiate is generally the guy every legends fan points to as the goat so it'd would be an interesting powerscalling match. An actual fight though, darth nihilus is kinda just a guy.
Disney is sitting on a gold mine and yet they forsake the most rich and amazing lore in the Old Republic Era. Revan, Malak and Darth Nihilus. A story about Nihilus could literally be a horror/suspense based Star Wars movie. But noooo. Disney is too focused on making their typical hero and kid friendly style movies and shows while forgetting the other side the table. The evil and horror of the Sith in Star Wars. Which is why I love games like Star Wars The old Republic.
Right, it’s only Disney who is making typical hero and kid friendly style movies. There’s no way that Star Wars could’ve possibly been a cheesy kids movie before that, filled with teddy bears and poopoo jokes and simple morality. No it’s the evil Disney that made it this way.
Can somebody come pick up their fanboy manbaby? It’s crying loudly and shitting all over itself.

"The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force"
"Which, when used correctly, allows you to destroy a planet. Wait..."
@@onyxrose4349 Hmm considering Nihilus could consume a planet in a second by just being present and the amount of resources it took to build and maintain both Death Stars, I think Vader was on to something there.
The way Kreia speaks of Nihilus, she hates and pities him, but she's also terrified of him. And that makes sense because at this point he's like someone let a Lovecraftian abomination loose in the Star Wars galaxy.
I like how the Jedi and Sith share a common goal to stop Darth nihilus.
they both know and understand that he's the biggest threat to the entire universe. Even bigger than than their war between each other.
I was hungry
Well, yeah. The Jedi and Sith both had goals and visions for the galaxy. Nihilus didn't. He was going to just consume all life in the galaxy until there was none left. He didn't have a target. Everything and nothing was his target.
This guy has endgame final boss villain vibes. He has no generic ambitions but a primal need to feed on the force which is both simple and yet extremely clever.
and very dangerous
IMO this is an example of brilliant writing.
1:56
"He is already more of a force than a living thing, a hole in the Force, that threatens to draw everything into it. He is a breach in the Force. Capable of consuming the lives of those around him. Sometimes the touch is slow. It is not something he can direct, or focus, much like hunger itself."
And that is exactly why the Exile was the only one who could stop him. The Exile himself was a hole, an absence of the Force, and by trying to consume him, Nihlus finally met his end.
Which is why Nihilus would, by default, win against every other Force User, even if they were somehow more powerful and sentient. He eats the Force and thus, no Force User can fight him. The Exile was the only one who could have done this - or alternatively, somebody who was like the Exile, a Wound in the Force.
Darth Nihilus reaches cosmic horror levels.
It always seemed quite ironic to me that, even taking into account the whole terror of Sion and Nihilus, the one who was the most terrifying of the Triumvirate was Kreia. As ideas are more powerful than pain or hunger, and words may twist you better than strength or mystical leeching.
Yeeesss. Very well put

Was Nihilus name ever even mentioned in the entirety of the games? Because Kreia simply referring to him as "her master" or literally "he" only makes him much more terrifying. As if even saying his name is calling him, attracting his presence. Incredible how a character who literally is the embodiment of nothing and having no semblance of a personality whatsoever can still be a tremendous force in a work of fiction's plot. A testament to the incredible writing of this game.
Wow, I actually never caught that. Yeah... I think Kreia does sort of allude to the idea - "The less said about that one, the better; even a stray word may draw him."

"He may rival the Ancient Sith."
No, he didn't rival them. He surpassed them. He is no Sith Lord, he is a Force Entity. There were really powerful Dark Lords like Marka Ragnos, Tenebrae/Vititate, Naga Sadow. Nihilus was not just Death. He was Nothingness. Nihili is Nothing. He needs to be compared with the likes of Shamans of the Whills, Father/Son/Daughter/Abeloth, Bendu. His voice is the echoes of screams of everything he consumed. His presence kills, and if you were unlucky not to do die immediately, his very stare is like infinite bottomless void. He cannot be defeated since he is a wound/anomaly in the Force, he can only be defeated by other anomalies (and if I'm correct there are only 4, Nihilus/Meetra Surrik/Anakin Skywalker/Dark Revan).
The father and abeloth could probably take him on as well.
@@Blackdeathgaming-yv1kk They are without a doubt more powerful. Nihilus did not surpass all the ancient sith. Vitiate was even worse than Nihilus, because he could control the hunger and evolve, where as Nihilus was consumed by his own power, rendering his flesh ethereal, hence why he vanished in a flash of dark energy rather than leaving a dead body.
Abeloth is probably the most powerful force entity to exist, needing the Son, Daughter and father combined to seal her away. And when grandmaster luke faced her. He claimed she was a dozen times more powerful in the force than he was.

The exile was the one who activated the mass shadow generator that created him. She cut her self off completely from the force to survive it. But nihilus did not and heard the scream in its entirety. They both were part of revans army and were survivors of malachor
I found it a bit disappointing that you could actually beat Nihilus without sacrificing Visas, it took something out of the character's terror for me, he would've been great as a threat you'd be forced to slow down or diminish then retreat and learn how to beat him for real in Kotor 3 or something
Which makes SWTOR all the more disappointing. Don't get me wrong, SWTOR in and of itself is pretty good for an MMO and I really wanted a Star Wars MMO for a while but it eliminated and made making a true sequel to KOTOR II pretty difficult since they decided to make SWTOR share the same continuity
It actually makes sense in the lore that he can't defeat you and is an easy fight. His whole power comes from feeding on force users, but he can't feed on you, because just like he, you too are a void in the force. He can't use his power on you without killing himself, so he can't even defend himself from you. The ability to consume all that would possibly challenge him and to be the lone entity surviving in a dead galaxy. Though he was a toxic force to be sure its possible he might have even been stronger than Vitiate by virtue of the fact that he could not fully control it and so just being in his presence was enough to leave even the most powerful force users defenseless. It was Only because Mitra was familiar enough with how to live without the force and did not cling to power that she was able to beat him. She just needed to wait for his hunger to consume him. But how many Jedi or even Sith could ever think of such a way to best a force like that. Mitra was the only one who could beat Nihilus. Not because she was particularly strong in the force but because she could do what no Sith and few Jedi could ever do. She let go.
You disservice yourself excluding Darth Scion. These are truly magnificent, and you have a knack for emotional synchronicity.
Oooo Darth Traya is talking about me and how fabulous I am?
Yeah, she's saying you need more weed so the munchies hit harder for your hunger to be sated.
nihilius is both powerful and weak, he succ every planet on his way and make a ship a float by using the force alone but yet he doesn't have any selfish ambitions nor an selfless ambitions, it's only a primal urged to keep himself alive by sucking the force from every living being, sentient or not, he is terrifying and depressing at the same time
Technically, his urge is incredibly selfish. Destroy the galaxy to prolong his life. I don't see how he could be more selfish
@@julienlesperance2340 not really selfish because he is not sentient anymore in some ways, he is just a monster that is by instinct sustaining itself
@@etel_unraed Wrong. Nihilus clearly can wield a lightsabre. And he interfered in Onderon's politics.
@@ChristianProtossDragoon but she stated that "he's already dead"? At 3:32
@@BlaBlue Ok... What has this to do with what I said...?
Obsidian: wouldn't it be interesting to explore what happens if you take the Sith code to it's logical extreme and make characters who are so powerful that they become completely reliant on that power or the power even rules their lives as they have a need to acquire more that cannot be filled? Showing how excessive power does not lead to excessive freedom as the Sith code suggests but creates a dependency instead. An analogy of the real life phenomenon where the more power dictators get, the less the can afford to lose it, lest he get's killed by the same powers that keep him in his place.
Bioware: yeah well, my guy can do that too but it doesn't conrol him because my guy can totally beat up your guy.
Now let’s be honest, narrations by Kreia are so good to listen to
Awesome video!
I got shivers when watching this.
Palpatine" I am the most powerful if all the sith"
Bane" no I am"
Sion" you weak compared to me"
Nihilus *demonic whispering noises*
Every other sith in the room *nervous sweating*
God, KotOR 2 is such a gem. Why cant we get more stories like this in SW universe? Mature, grim, where the line between evil and good is blurred.
these edits are too freaking cool keep it up man
The story with the pictures was great I didn't expect this to be so good
"Before his power grows beyond what even we can HOPE to stop"
She says "hope" which means that she wasn't even certain anyone could defeat him at the time she said it
Just saying
Quite possibly the most powerful Dark Lord of the Sith that walked. He knew the Sith language, traveled the unknown regions, and had unlimited, uncontrollable power. They barely told his story and they owe it to him to give him a better background.
Fun fact, after he died, the jedi tried (and failed) to understand the force using his holocron because he basicaly spoke fluent dark side
@@tomasmisek5598 he shouldn’t have holocrons. Nihilus isn’t the type of person to preserve and pass on his knowledge. He wanted to consume all life. There’s no point in making a holocron if everyone is dead. Yeah he had apprentices and assassins, but that’s all they were.
@@JacobTD well He was a student of a very traditionalist Sith plus He was a Sith even before malachor, imagine He just decided to make a holocron out of a feeling of obligation toward tradition between Hunger fits
And apparently he even avoided/escaped a Yuuzhan Vong invasion by happenstance, because he transferred his consciousness from his dying body into his armor/robes. So he certainly wasn't without some measure of intelligence, even as his hunger grew worse.
@@BladeZero238 oh yea i forgot he could do sith alchemy
"The dark side is a pathway to many talents some consider to be unnatural."
Kreia/Darth Traya is utterly perfect
This could easily be a trailer for a horror film.
Such a shame, that he felt that weak in the game and, unless you are new to the game, beat him in less than a minute.
I think Nihilus was in a weakened state by the time the exile confronts him. The assault on Telos was a desperate move by him and Traya set him up for disaster.
Trying to feed on the Exile sapped his strenght.
He was sapped because you too are a wounf in the force, he only strained himself when he tried to feed on you.
@@kitosjek9541 Also gameplay and actual character power levels never coincide with one another.
He is terrifying, he is a hole in the force. He actually isn't strong, the force gives him strength.
wow. great job!
With something this powerful it’s almost… odd that he would have a lightsaber at all
It turns out that Nihilus is so strong, that he does not even need to focus like these weak jedy in films before using force, he uses it already instinctively. He developed a f**ing instinct to use force, impossible!! 🔥
I like the way Kreia explains how terrible Darth Nihilus is for the galaxy. He feeds through the force and since everything is connected to the force it means he can consume it all. Kreia even went "Then you understand why that power is so terrible." or something along those lines. It's crazy to think about that he was the reason all the Jedi that gathered on Visas's world died along with the planet itself aside from Visas of course. I like how we don't see much of him but the few scenes of him we do get he's intimidating. I like how they spiced up the fact that Nihilus and the exile were going to face off for a lot of the game. The only reason the exile could fight him was because she/he was a wound in the force just like him so they were immune to his powers. If it wasn't for that Nihilus would have been pretty much unstoppable.
Nihilus is the Baba Yaga of Star Wars.
Something I've always found odd is that no one points out that he is essentially a force vampire
Wow, I’ve got to admit: I’ve never been particularly interested in KOTO or its lore, but I’m really feeling these narrations by Kreia.
Someone: *is alive
Nihilus: except no
I always thought Nihilus’ character was really interesting, he seems to be this ominous, powerful entity rather than a mere human. The way he speaks and his force abilities are unusual. An Anomaly. When I was quite younger and played KOTOR2, he spooked me.
Nihilus is legitimately terrifying. He has no emotion no empathy no other desire then to feed his ever growing hunger. He is actually the horror side of Star Wars
I imagine that if you gave Jason the force you'd get Nihilus
Would he win in a fight against Abeloth? Probably, Abeloth is literally insanely powerful, she’s so crazy she doesn’t know her own strength. It’s possible to never kill her no one knows. Maybe they’d just end up in a loop, her constantly generating energy and him consuming it.
Waru from The Crystal Star.
the idea of two extremely force users fighting and ending up in a loop like that is honestly genius, I might have to save that for myself if I ever write something set in the Star Wars universe lol
LOL Putting Nihilus anywhere near the Ones is laughable.
He isn't even the most powerful Sith lord. He himself could not control his powers.
Other force wielders have resisted his drains and even Kreia said that he is only "rivaling" some ancient Sith.
Sidious, Krayt, Exar Kun...all above him.
@@DropkickNation Yes, in a contest of the force, Abeloth would destroy Nihilus. But as you say, he can't control his powers and Abeloth is in a similar situation. Nihilus is also not a stranger to madness himself. Abeloth deep down still has a need to feel loved and have a family. If Nihilus discovered that, it is possible however unlikely he could exploit it. He would be obsessed over her as an endless spring of force energy he could consume.
@@jackrinaldi9098: "it is possible, however unlikely he could exploit it"
Any attack against her would be a useless gesture, no matter what kind of technical data he's obtained. Abaloth is now the ultimate power in the universe!
This is amazing
"The power to destroy a planet is nothing compared to the power of the force"
~Anakin "Vader" Skywalker
And we got Snoke and Kylo Ren instead...
It's incredible what Obsidian was able to do with Kotor 2. Just imagine if they had been giving more time to develop it.
this is gorgeous
This is a really cool “ghost story by lamp light” kind of reading. Kreia is such a wonderful crypt-keeper archetype
