Great video - just finished a reread of Herodotus and was looking for a good recap of the battle! Excellent work here establishing the background as well as discussing the battle itself.

I love these parts in history when a small country wins against a much more powerful one.
    Brilliant video, as always.

Very nice, I'm still working through your catalogue. On a tangent, I appreciate you're maintaining the playlists, so many channels don't.

Right now, the Greco-Persian Wars aren't a major priority; it's a shame, but they don't really pull many views...
But fear not! I have not forgotten this series, and I will return to it as some point!

2:00 this map is a bit inaccurate. Maka (country near in modern day oman) was part of the Empire. They also ruled the Indus valley and Saka tribes, and most of the known tribes of Caucasus. "Arabia" was also their satrap, wich is usually marked near the Nefud desert.
    Excellent video!

Very good video although there were 1 or 2 mistakes for example Athens through the embassadors into the well. Sparta was too religious to harm someone protected by the gods

Fairly certain it was Sparta that threw the ambassadors in the well; I know they were very religious, and normally they probably wouldn't ever have done something so sacrilegious, but King Cleomenes a bit wild. The guy literally torched a sacred grove to burn the prisoners of war hiding inside. So, when he ordered the deaths of these ambassadors, it was not out of character.
After Cleomenes had died, the Spartans did in fact send two men to the court of the Xerxes, offering themselves up as sacrifices to the Persian king to cleanse Sparta of the guilt of Cleomenes' killing of the envoys.
I can't remember off the top of my head whether Xerxes accepted their offer or not.
