For anyone who has wrestled, done Judo, or BJJ like i have, there’s no way in the world that this Tai Chi technique would work against a real takedown. This is a dangerous fake way to give you confidence making you think that this Tai Chi move could work against a propper takedown. This could get you beat up real bad.

Thank you martial man for spreading awareness that real martial arts still exist. I'm beginning to feel hopeful again. I've watched many of your videos and I especially enjoy your episodes on the internal arts. You're doing a great service to the traditional martial arts community. Thank you!

I'd like to echo that. Although their masters would get stomped in most situations against a rank average amateur boxer with a years training, it's good to see these impractical techniques are still being taught.

As a professional who has had to control violent people who are trying to injure me, but whom I am not able to injure for professional and moral reasons I can attest to the fact that these methods and skills do work, I rely on them. Only people ignorant of these methods claim they don’t work. You must find a teacher like this though, and you must train with hard contact.

That’s the problem is finding a teacher of internal martial arts that is actually competent. I don’t blame people for being skeptical...I did tai chi for a few years and started to realize it was a bunch of BS. I started doing seminars outside of the school and realized that there is most definitely REAL internal martial artists out there but they are hard to find. But when you experience it, there’s nothing else like it

After 30 years of hard style Kung Fu training...I see that I know nothing. Far more advanced than anything I've done. I wish there was a competent teacher in my state. At a training session I was on the receiving end of a low level Fa Jin strike.....just his palm resting on my shoulder, and it dropped me to the floor. I never would have believed it, had I not felt it firsthand.

Nice interview! I practice "internal Chinese martial art" and other style "fighting" trainings for years. You have to absorb opponent's impact and maintain your structure (without tensing up) before Fa Jin 發勁. It takes lots of practice...have to train with opponent's "full" power and speed. To be honest, upon the impact with "full" power and speed, my other "fighting" training always kicks in immediately. Just my $0.02

If you release, you have two states. Two moments. This automatically a hole. Polarity. If you release power outward, you are stuck in the external method. Internal state is one. One moment. Not two. Two is what society does to the Tao. Tao is not understood by the comparative mind and so it creates two in order to satisfy . This is an old mistake. Tai chi was 3 movements in one state originally. Now it’s short form is 108 movements in polarity. Xing yi, ba gua are the same. The transmission is muddy over generations.
