Trent and Wild Fly: The mashup we didn’t know we needed! This is awesome!
Right?!
Trent, you’re an ambassador of premium airplane adventure content while simultaneously highlighting the importance of solid Aeronautical Decision Making fundamentals. Nice work here!
@@reason6835 Well, we can't all be "Knowologists." You were one of the lucky ones I guess. Must be nice. ✈️
There are so many youtube channels about cars, trucks, UTVs, dirtbikes and snowmobiles. And I get it. It´s fun! But man oh man how much more I enjoy your videos about backcountry flying, camping, fishing and chilling. I hope you focus on more of this kind of content. In combination with your skills as a filmmaker, nothing else gets near!
OnX developed here in Bozeman. It is great for any outdoorsman plus anyone who works with land like realtors and engineers. It adds another detention to road trips.
I have watched you for years, thanks for turning me on to Wild Fly, now I can fuel both my passions. Built two Kitfox's. but lost my license to fly. Been fly fishing for years, live in Idaho. You have not even scratched what Idaho has to offer keep your fire burning. Back to watching an Hour of Wild Fly Back Biking.
A collab of my top two favorite creators on YT. Epic stuff.
And this channel can be all things flying including flying to fish. It's what got my sub 2 years ago
Love that one Trent... sat here with my 7 y.o. son and he was glued... thanks man.
Making the video about flying to and from a fishing trip is awesome. Ignore the bone had pilots who don’t understand USING your plane and Pilot license to go somewhere and accomplish something is the real reason we got them, not just to fly to lunch. Thank you Trent you are the best! I love being your wing man!
NICE! That's great you got to hook up with another fly fisher / UA-camr. Looked like Scotty really enjoyed the new perspective on fishing spots! What a great way to scope them out. Aviation is the answer to everything! 😁 Great stuff, Trent! Was fun watching you guys snag 'em! 👍👍
As a 30+ year fisherman who is in private pilot training, you are just adding fuel to my fire! Well done Sir! 👍
agreed
This a collaboration I would have never expected, but am so stoked to see! Scotty is such a great filmmaker/storyteller that I watch all his videos and I don't even fish haha. Awesome to see two great creators work together whose core content plays so well together.
I love the idea of your channel becoming an overall adventure channel. Fishing, camping, mudding, flying, etc. Loved this video and while I subscribed for flying vids, I stayed for this vid to watch the fishing.
Hi Trent,
You gave some great advice, enjoyed your video.
Thank you for sharing.
Take care,
Be safe.
By far, my favorite video! Combining my two absolute favorite hobbies.
Two of my favorite UA-cam channels! Best collab, thanks for the content!
Very nice video, enjoyed the flying/fishing combo 1-2 punch!
Costa Rica 🇨🇷 is a great place for Fly Fishing! You both should come one day and join CRAFF, the association of fly fishermen in Costa Rica, we have plenty of US members
I saw you and Scottie and I was like no way - two of my favorite creators on the same channel! Great way to mix it up Trent. Keep up great work. I have been watching your channel and Wild Fly channel since 2020 and both have given me inspiration and joy.
This is an adventure channel. Post whatever off-road endeavors you please. Your editing is great.
I've been following you both individually, great to see yall together here!
Oh my god! Best video ever I watched both your channels previously. Always thinking on Trent’s channel “oh my god if this dude fished”. Soo cool ! I wanna do it! Thanks guys! I think I am gonna cry!
Thanks for taking us along with you on the absolute ultimate combo day: back-country flying and fly fishing. I just doesn't get any better! That's why I love your channel.
Great Pairing. East meets west, somewhere in the middle. Great video of 2 of my favorite channels. Great job.
Two of my favorites joining together!! More, please!
Sweet little adventure! Fishing is always a great time… especially when you can get into somewhere that not many other can get too! Thanks for sharing!
Hi Trent, Scottie and trents lovey wife, sorry you had a fishless trip but I still enjoyed it. I am now 78 and I learned to fly fish on a small Lake in Northern Indiana at age 14 using a 9-foot bamboo fly rod inherited from my father. My most memorable experience fly fishing was going out on the lake at night in the summer with my aunt and uncle and learning to fly fish in the dark using a floating popper. We had to Simply listen for the bluegills or Bass to suck in the floating popper and then set the hook. We definitely caught some fish that night and I will remember that experience until I assume room temperature.
Hell yeah! Fish per cast late spring fishing in the Sierras. Nothing like it.
FWIW worth, Trent, I love the videos where you get out and use the airplane to enjoy other activities...this backwoods fly fishing is great.
Bro. You’re videos are always so epic and you’re such a reasonable guy. Thanks for that! Thanks for showing that there is no need to be a jackass to get views.
Dude that’s sick!!!! I follow Scotty that’s a game changer and just so cool!!!! I got a ride in a Cessna last summer though and it scared the hell out of me, so I’m walking!!!! Be safe!!
Now that was Cool. I've been following Wildfly since Episode one of Shortbus. You are right, his videos are Fantastic.
Really one of your best over the last few years, such a good combination of flying and fishing
So good. I for one love all the fly-fishing content I can get!
Way to rais the bar for content with one. Off-airport, new landing spot, fly rods, and nice rainbows!
Solid.
Keep it coming!
Two of my favorite channels together! Move videos please! Maybe a nice Idaho trip together.
Ive been using OnX for 4 years now. Off-roading, hunting & flying in our J3 Cub. Also i use to figure the land owners name when scouting out abandoned Jeeps to rescue.
What a great combo! Two channels that make me want to get outside a whole lot more. Thanks for this.
Excellent capture of content. Please continue your long history of keeping it family friendly, clean, profanity-free.
You ought to look into Tenkara type of fishing. The small streams you fly into would be perfect. Less equipment and a smaller setup.
Awesome video Trent. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us!!
100% here for the fly fishing content! Love what you were saying about combining skill sets and using aviation to enhance your other hobbies.
Backcountry Flying and Fly Fishing makes for some NICE content !!
Another awesome video! I work at the Flying B Ranch in the Frank Church Wilderness, and we saw you fly over us a few days ago. Hopefully, you could see us waving! Come grab some breakfast the next time you're cruising through!
Thanks! And I didn’t see you waving but I definitely did fly over the flying B!
Definitely more bush flying and fly fishing no question!!!
Sweet, I miss fly fishing. I used to be a fly fishing guide in the Florida keys, and also taught fly tying and casting when I was the manager of a Bass pro shops fly fishing department. I can no longer fly, or fly fish due to major health issues, so this video let me live vicariously through you.
You're living the dream. Wow! Thanks for sharing!
I had a similar experience fishing on the selway river about 1 mile upriver from moose creek backcountry airport
Really enjoyed this one Trent. Thx for bringing us along.
Dude yes! Two of my favorites in my back yard. Great video
Amazing flight. Wish you can do a video on how you wash/ clean your fabric bird. drywash? Hosewash, can it be ceramic coated?
Scotty is definitely channeling some Josè Wejebe vibes w the curls and stache at 9:00 😂
I really enjoy the fishing videos! More please!!
This is why I want to get my searey done. Not for fly fishing( not much of a thing in the Midwest) but hard to get to lakes
nice those little brook trout are mighty tasty, might take a few but fun to catch indeed! ty likes here :)
Flying a cub in Simms waders.... It's pretty legendary!!! AWESOME!!!!
Hello from Minnesota! Great episode!
You are showing two things I love so much! Thank you
Loving the fly fishing angle - excuse the pun...
Using the Kitfox to reach "off the beaten track" fishing spots is great, I wish we could do that in the UK.... :(
Very well done. Big thumbs up.
I've found that when the water first starts to drop after the spring flooding it's often the best time of the year to fish. $0.02
Good to see you using your airplane for more than just flying! Great for getting into those places inaccessible by other means.
Something similar happened to me and my brother in law a couple years back, literally "hunting" fish... Nice one guys!
Stayin alive Stayin alive!! Nice analysis of the situation of the LZ. Have you talked to Dan Gryder regarding AQP, scenario based training? Would be very cool to colab with him to help other people stay alive! always great to see the Fox up and flying into back country!
What you and your friends do is amazing, I would love to be able to fly into some remote fishing locations. Keep up the good work!
Excellent as Usual!!!
Couldn’t agree more on onX, but Alaska users should use it with caution because some private property is not accurately charted. With that, it’s constantly getting updated and is getting better with it in Alaska.
No maps in Alaska are updated but ya.. it's close
@@IkeCoblentz they do adjust property lines, the problem is, they base the data on what’s reported on public records, many of those remote areas have never been gps mapped, and are based on the old drop a metal pin and a wood post on the nw corner. Ie they haven’t exchanged hands under the new survey system since being homesteaded. I know a few who have got in trouble moose hunting on what they thought was public land and it was onX that was not mapped correctly.
Another spectacular content video, the fishing part just so cool.
Thank you for sharing that app. I’m just now seriously looking into a bush plane and one of my biggest questions was property lines. Thank you!
Trent, another great video! However, you triggered me when you called it a bobber. For fly fisherman, it's a strike indicator. Bobbers are for fishing with bait and beer. 😁
Stellar video Trent!!!! I might try fly fishing just because you make it look cool!!! I am the guy that has invested lots of money in lots of sports and not done well, so I can thoroughly enjoy fishing with your channel when you post it!!! But that being said, I’m the guy with avgas flowing through my veins!!! Keep up the great work!!!
You guys are killin’ me!
Awesome video Trent...... but did you keep any fish? That first one looked pan sized.....
Now that's Fly Fishing!
Also… I hear ya, the comment section can get crazy sometimes, but I enjoy seeing your other adventures!
Fly Fishing ✈ 🎣 🤣😂🤣😂 I get it
The worst day of ✈🎣 is better than almost anything else
Great video 👍
loved the combo. Myself, either flying, fishing, or hunting. nice video
DUDE! Know who he is? I was watching Wild fly before I knew who Trent Palmer was -- is or what ever. This is pretty cool.
Heeeey Frenchmans. Flown around there as well but in an old Piper Cherokee. Only get to look. Feel free to buzz me & my Dad again next time you're by the Pyramid spikes
I'm enjoying the fly fishing in your videos and I'm not even into fishing. It looks fun and relaxing.
Awesome video! Cool adventure and excellent production!
Hey Trent, what was that outdo track called on Musicbed? I dig it.
I watch Trent’s videos for the music he uses LOL. This one was sick.
You should fly up to Hot Creek! My dream has always been to fly to fly fishing locations from work and catch the evening hatch! Northern California has steady flows spring fed streams!
What’s the rules/regulations for landing on public land? Looking into getting a bush plane and it would be helpful to know
I'm just getting into fly fishing. I have a 5wt setup and that same fishpond net. What gear were you guys using? nymphs, flies, pole lengths, weight, etc.? It's a sport as cool as flying lol
My main go-to rod is a 10ft 5wt, it’s a versatile size. I fish mostly nymphs because that’s what works around where I live but fish dries any chance I get if I see rising fish. It’s definitely a fun sport, it’s a constant challenge but super rewarding when things go well
Sure you are producing a flying channel but this shows the reasons to fly. I say more flying and more fishing!
Love the flying and fishing.
Fulfilling the dream. Flying with purpose
i wonder if a polarized filter on the camera would help for seeing in the water
Excellent content!! Keep it coming!
yes adventures and beyond
I hear is very really NVU Trent. I would love to do what you’re doing right now. Amazing. Enjoy it life short have a killer time !!! just enjoy the day
How do you determin the wind direction when you make a survey of unfamiliar landing zone?
Wonderful content❤ I wish to buy a plane like you... Plz make a video for pilot licence for this plane only how many flying hours req?
You need a polarized camera lens for these fishing vids.
Hey Trent for us noobs to fly fishing. Can you guys describe what you are looking for in a stream? I am guessing deep pockets are portions of stream with deeper areas and slower water?
Yes, especially this time of year when the water is really cold fish will hold in slower water. But overall trout are always looking for a few things, shelter (deeper water or structure like rocks or stumps to hide under), food (so normally after a riffle or rapid that would stir up bug larvae off the bottom of the creek, which also oxygenates the water which fish need). They also look for comfort so target water that’s flowing at roughly walking speed, that’s fast enough for them to get fresh oxygenated water but not too fast that they are getting worn out just trying to stay in place.
Also, I’m still a beginner myself so just take what I saw with a grain of salt 😬
Great video! There are great fishing spots near landing strips near Idaho. Come to Boise and pick me up and I’ll show you my favorite for cutthroats.
Great video. You still using the XT3?
Thanks!!! I’m still on Fuji, now using the XH2S!
Super cool, nice fishing.
