I just completed this job from watching your video. I also completed it about a year ago. Don’t think I did it well. Because recently my spark plug tube seals leaked. This time I followed your video. Got the exact kit but this time it was blue. Seemed simpler. I don’t have Milwaukee impact. But I used my old Harbor Freight impact. It did speed things up. TIP: When you go to tighten up the valve cover after putting the gasket and seals on. Watch to make sure the spark plug seals aren’t “bulging” up. This can cause leaks in the tube seals. So make sure it is seated properly. Not a easy job. A lot of connections
Well done video. A very good description on all of the step by step actions (and the reason behind them). I may end up getting some Milwaukee tools.. I really like the professional touches like using the dental mirror to check that the gaskets did not slide out. Thank you very much- very informative. Owner: 2009 TL 3.5 with 100,485 miles. I look forward to more videos like this--can't find much on 4th gen TL. This is much welcomed.
Je Cur glad you like the video and it helped. I would highly recommend Milwaukee tools they are my number one choice and they save me a ton of time and effort. Thank you for watching!
I'm surprised you did not have problems seating the valve cover back on fitting the new spark plug tube seals over the tubes. I had some difficulties with this. The tube seal would deform and not go around the tubes, I had to run my fingers around the tube to make them go over the tubes.
Ronnie Shih its also a good idea to put the spark plug tube seals in tbe freezer for at least 12 hours so they shink and it will help them go in easier when installing
In case anyone comes across this, service manual does call for draining coolant, as the lines at the bottom of the throttle body do hold coolant. As you saw, it isn't necessary to disconnect those lines. Just simply disconnect the throttle body and move aside as shown here, being careful not to tear the paper gasket which is often reused. It's a less than $2 gasket, but if not on hand it doesn't matter how cheap it is hahah
they just leak over time like any other valve covers do. The washer/grommets around the head cover bolts or the tube seals can all leak independent of the vcg itself as well.
I have a 2007 Acura RL (J35A8 V6) with 211k miles. I had the valve cover gaskets done 20k miles ago and the front one is leaking now and the rear is ok. I've moved to a different state so I can't take it back to that dealer. Can I get away with doing just the front gasket or should I replace both?
PeterGriffin4200 yes you can get away with just doing one valve cover gasket but its best to do both as well as the spark plug tube seals and tbe seals around the bolts. Go with a gasket kit from rockauto dot com from Victor Reinz
BundysGarage Thank you. I went ahead and did that one valve cover gasket and tube seals for now. I also replaced the PCV valve since it was leaking too. The car is great now, no oil burning smells.
Just did mine on my 3.7 sh awd now my check engine light flashes, and my awd light and hill assist lights are all on. I have misfire codes, trying to figure out why
Bro is this a paid advertisement for Milwaukee, sounds like you're hard up for Mikwaukee. You must have said their name like 10 times. I'm gonna use my Milwaukee back scratcher M765 now....
I've seen your videos bundy and you lack skill/ expertise compared to this guy. The fact that you attack him in his own comment section shows how insecure you are. haha stay salty! 🧂🧂
There is a ordered sequence for removing the bolts and putting them back on the valve cover. Best look at the service manual or video by CarsNToys video for the Acura TL for the correct sequence. This video does not utilize the correct sequence.
I have an 09 MDX. Noticeable oil leak on and around my oil pan. (Noticed while changing oil) I'm hoping this is the solution. Did you ever get your issue fixed?
@@jb-sh2bk i have no valve cover gasket problem, im just looking to do some preventitive maintenance.....however it sounds like you need a timing belt replacement if not your oil pump is clogged!
Thanks for the quick response. After a Google search I think you're correct. I changed the timing belt roughly 20k miles ago... apparently I'll be changing again if oil pump is issue (might as well since everything will be removed anyway)
@@jb-sh2bk yes the oil pump filter cloggs easily to ensure your utilizing the correct oil in regards to quality i know most oils can be cheap but at the end of the day "you get what you pay for" 😉 & i had the same leak until i changed my belt and water pump while i was down there and then just started to use top notch oil and oil stabilizer havnt had issues since my Acura is at 201k currently no issues
onlytoloveyou1 I don’t remember but if you go on to repair pal.com And enter in your ZIP Code year make model and job description it will give you a price and parts

Deno Denojar I am not paid to sell anything I just recommend tools and parts that I think would help in the repairs. If you do buy them I will get a very small commission.
I like how thorough this is. I'm looking at this same job with a bit more confidence than i had!

Indeed, but how did you install the tube seals themselves? I feel find that they tear up when trying to install them.
Very helpful, doing this tomorrow on a 2012 Odyssey. Same Felpro kit. Thanks for letting me know what to expect.
Good luck with the repair. Thank you for watching!
Third time watching this video. Think I’m ready to get to work on my 2010. Need to tighten the lifters but I’ll change the gaskets while I’m at it

Great video and excellent explanation of everything. I have a 3G TL but I think the principles still apply. Thanks!
I don't think I seen it anywhere in the description or the video. You should put how long these jobs take. Great video!
Love the detailed info throughout the video
This came in so clutch. Thanks man you a life saver!
Love the videos, keep them coming. Hope to see the channel grow rapidly!
MrRangerZr1 thank you! Me too.
Good idea to replace spark plugs since its open ?
100% same process with 3.7 SH-AWD
Thank you was wondering the same thing
Nice. I was wondering too. I think mine is leaking from both sides.
Awesome video. Very thorough and detailed. Plus Milwaukee tools are great!
Proto1215 Milwaukee Tools do rock👍🏻 thank you for watching!
@@HowtoAutomotive it’s a piece of shit.
Gears won’t last.
I stripped mine in less than 6 month.
Do you need to remove spark plugs as well or only coil? 😊
When applying the black permatex do you apply on the corner metal parts on engine then add the felpro gaskit? Or how do you apply the permatex?
What would the cost be for this type of work?

Ronnie Shih your run across that problem before. I suppose if I did I would put a little lubricant on the seals

Great video, but I find that hammering the new spark-plug seals in will have them being teared.
Excellent. Thank you very much
Great video, thanks. Did you drain engine coolant before you started this job, or left it in?
_ Kat no. Only drain it if you want to service it

Dwayne Lewis lmao dude
I bet your tube seals were leaking. Oil covered the spark plug
Might have to do with your spark plugs. Check to see you have oil on them. Late response I know lol
You probably forgot to plug something in. check the wire harness on the left side near the timing belt
great video helps a lot

Can you come help me do this job?
Entonces esta difícil
This is very helpful but it's going to be a lot of work lol
I FUCKING LOVE YOU!!!!!
What a mess tho
Pretty simple/ straight forward imo. If you think this is bad you should see all the things that come off during a piston job
I'll just pay someone else to do it.
