- As Netflix continues to crack down on password sharing in more countries, subscribers in Canada, Spain, Portugal and New Zealand now have to declare a primary location for an account. Outside users can be added but for an additional charge. NBC’s Stephanie Gosk reports for TODAY.

One thing I never understood about the younger generation is how resourceful they are watching new movies for free....canceled Netflix the other day and just learned new tricks from them......
not sure how old u are ..I'm 37 so i pretty much came up with the internet..from the birth to the masses onto 2001 discovering Morpheus and Kazaa onto now ..i don't watch much tv but the movies and tv i do watch is mostly thru the torrents like u say..i ain't proud of it but I'm sure they'll be ok.. Netflix seems to think it's 2013 and they the only game in town..i think they'll come to their senses i mean they already backtracked for the us so i figure thisll be a New Coke moment for them

This company made billions last year. I'm binge watching a few things to finish up and cancelling. I wish I didn't have to, but it's the point of it for me. It would probably be better for me to do other things than watch TV anyway.

Hahaha no thanks. Our family has 7 kids in 7 diff schools or training programs for a few months after discussing with kids they showed us better alternatives to netflix. So we canceled. Theyll never get another cent. They dont even finish some series or release original content on bluray.

I'm more curious how this would work for people who are away from home for long periods of time i.e. Military, Truckers, Pilots, oil rig workers, etc.. I myself am military and travel a LOT for work and would just like some answers on how it would work if say the only member of a household leaves that household for a while. Logically this to me doesn't make much sense, I understand Netflix's side with more income from its users, but I think their prices are only going to continue to have to rise in order to equalize to the users they will lose.

Honestly, I think I spent more hours at the theater than on Netflix kver tha last 6 months so I'm not quite effected. But I don't think it has anything to do with customers... seems more Netflix making it hard for bloggers etc to stand behind the brand in any popular way. We are people who only stream content, why does anyone need to share a Netflix account? Even with $65.00 for fast fibre optic internet, Prime, Commercial Free Hulu, UA-cam Premium, and Netflix we pay less than half of our former satellite service alone. Netflix costs about the same as 3 average coffee drinks at Starbucks or 3 loaves of bread. How is this so expensive that you feel the need to share? Is cheating,chiseling and being cheap and conniving just a normal practice for people?

I couldn't find anything much to watch on HBO Max, Paramount or Disney+ (I despise Baby Yoda) and the programming doesn't change often.. I never watch network television either, I'll never voluntarily watch a commercial ever again, they are annoying AF. Ad free Hulu, Prime and Netflix offer enough to supplement my first choice in content, UA-cam Premium. Our income is below average in our expensive PNW city, but we would never find $15.50 for Netflix to be soooo expensive we'd need to share it. It is the cost of three items in an average grocery bag !
