Living alone, shared password with 70 year old parents. Had a premium account since 2015 so there could be 4 simultaneous viewings. I'm cancelling Netflix.

This is nothing but a money grab. They already have the ability to restrict the number of simultaneous streams running on an account. So limit accounts to the number of simultaneous streams and let the account holders figure out how they want to use those streams!
How is what they're doing not against the law? They specifically told everyone to share the password, now bait and switch they want all password users to pay. I'm pretty sure there should be a class action suit being brought to Netflix soon in Canada and the USA. I will sign up right away.
I think they're monitoring the IP's of who's watching under what account i.e. Getting alerts from an unknown device at an unknown location, sounds like Invasion of Privacy to me. Not too keen on the excuse it's for 'security'.
Netflix may lose a lot of customers and of course income with this move.

Love is password sharing...guess there no more love in the world...some corporate guys will be fired for this, they are overspending on an assortment of junk content lately and decide to make consumers who are already financially stressed to pay for it. Will be cutting the Netflix soon as well. Too many other services out there.

Recently Netflix hasn’t added much content. I use my password on my parents’ TV which they don’t use just when we go over. I could get VPN, but easier to just cancel.

One thing I never understood about the younger generation is how resourceful they are watching new movies for free....canceled Netflix the other day and just learned new tricks from them......
Jokes on them. I'm just going to give my family access to my VPN server here at the house and my Gigabit Internet up and down will be more than enough to run Netflix for the all of them.

Well I hope this is the outcome they wanted. There is no way I'm paying almost $20 per month for Netflix and then an additional $8 for any family members/friends who don't live with me. Most of their popular shows have been cancelled anyways.

I am a Canadian but live in Germany, what I did was to get the standard with adds. The kids profile for my Grand kids when they come over has no adds ( I baby sit a lot ) and it saves me €8.00. So with the money saved I got Disney + so I get double the content for the same amount of money. Grand kids happy win win.

They're supposed to allow alllllll members of the same household ie. same wifi IP to be in that account, so looks like they messed up.
