Great question. Business plan isn't a bad thing for any type of business. However, it's not mandatory. There are people who started very small and slowly walk their way up building the business without any proper business plan. What I will say is, it's always good to have a form of documentation so that important requirements can be covered. It might not be a formal business plan but should be something that help have a direction and guide.
