      I 100% have ran back to this channel enough times after some other channel F'd up my swing. 😂😂😂😂
      THE ANSWER IS HERE!! I do watch one other channels because tgeybplay a lot of courses, but I FF, or disregard if they have swing tips. I do not swing like Tom, but I have applied A LOT of his swing, thoughts, etc into my swing. It took some time, but I am still smiling that I am in low 80's hight 70's and I swear I'm not thinking, not hitting hard, I litterally have no idea anymore what my wrist, hands, if I have a wrist hinge or not, no clue... but... I know my sholder pointed at the ball, I know I have found tgat sweet inside takeaway, I know my contactbis off the chain for me, and I swear Im swinging easier as everyone tells me so, and whatever else I'm doing it works!!
      Sorry to rant BUT I love golf and want everyone to succeed. Once you got it, and you will, set it, forget it, and move on to your next shot.

      Thanks so much for sharing your dramatic improvement and keep up the fantastic work!! 💪💪
      Tom
      PS: By the way, I would be remiss if I didn't mention that a significant percentage of my online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them.
      If you've not already joined, have you considered enrolling in the online school and taking your learning - and your game - to the next level? That's where - in addition to detailed lessons and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish - you'll find diagnostic tools for identifying/resolving swing and ball flight issues when they arise, plus advanced level instruction, and much more. Thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result, and their unsolicited testimonials tell the story quite well: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. At just $14.99/month or $149.99 per year the value in terms of what you get for that price point is beyond comprehension, and based on proven results it represents by far the best golf instruction deal on the planet. And if you'd like to first "dip a toe in the water" prior to diving into the school, then here is a link to my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ That is where you can learn some key aspects of the swing system I teach in a more structured manner.
      As you now know well, you don't need the flexibility of a Romanian gymnast - or even of this far less pliable golf instructor - to execute this swing, experience great ball striking, and reclaim - or even exceed - yardages from years past. I hope you'll give the school some thought.

    I love how simple Tom makes the swing. Take care of the very few swing thoughts he preaches and many other aspects fall into place naturally. It HAS taken me several lessons in person with a local pro to shallow out my swing plane because over the top was so ingrained over decades. But between that and Tom's videos the improvements are starting to show up on course.

    The more I see, the more I understand where I'm lacking. I will try this tomorrow and am very confident, "I got this!" I see improvements every round, including pitching and chipping.
    Oddly enough, I used to get further from the ball and then get too close. Now I seem to get too close to the ball more often than naught. When I step away a wee bit (an inch or so with the hybrids, a little less with the irons, and a touch more with the driver), the ball is launched. The ball is way down the fairway by the time my head comes up. The old swing sound and feel is certainly not like what I have now.
    My only regret, this should have been taught back in the early 1990s. I would have been a single digit handicap continuously back in the 90s instead of now.
    I really appreciate these UA-cam videos as well as your online lessons. They are absolutely great!

My goal is just to go out and make solid contact which should make this game pleasant to play and scoring should not matter but just to stay out of the dreaded 100’s is all I desire after all I am too old to join the tour 😂Thank you sir

    I don't practice much. after taking the online course, I'm hitting the ball better than I have in my life and I now have the mental capacity to think calmly when playing because I finally really know what I'm doing. I study Saguto all the time. Tom has given me his life secrets in his course and I am very thankful. I now keep my weight forward, swing around my body, hold the angle, get my shoulder under my chin in the backswing, keep a relationship with the ball, swing easy and just live with the extra distance and you must stay attached with your trail arm,. The set up I learned in Tom's course is 90 percent of my swing. Tom's course removes all the variables in all the shots you need to make. A swing based on timing can worry you to death. I know. I took the course and and applied what Tom's teaches and It has made me q better golfer with a lot less practice .I do feel confident now before every shot because I know what to expect.

      When we boil it down, Scott, the setup truly becomes the swing in this system. That is why this method is so repeatable and low-maintenance. Nail the setup, pull the trigger. That's it. The only remaining variable is what's between the ears. Keep that quiet and positive and you're golden.
      Thanks so much for another awesome testimonial for the online school's step-by-step, position-by-position learning program, and for validating it with your great progress and exceptional play!! 💪💪

    I just picked up golf two summers ago, going into my third year now. I came across your videos this last year but had a hard time connecting the dots. I just tried these three things in my back yard hitting into my net and felt the "inside swing" tip #2 really resonate. The ball was launching into the net like no other! Just need to focus on making it consistent. Going to test this out on the course tomorrow and report back! Thanks for making it easy. My goal this summer is to break 100! Appreciate you Tom!

    Day 1 on the range today with your principles and in the beginning I almost immediately started hitting straight and with that slight draw that you talk about. Hit a couple 8-irons close to 180 and straight which I’ve NEVER done before.

    Thank you for your fantastic content. I've watched a few of your lessons, if I didn't live on the other side of the world I would come and see you. Just returned to golf after many years away and it's been quite frustrating for a former low scorer. Now I'm over 50 I can't swing like I used to and quite frankly don't want to. Took your set up and technique to the range this afternoon. The easiest way to hit a ball if you're set up correctly it's basically automatic. I'd say crispy flush.

      With regard to not being able to swing like you used to, you may be interested to know that a significant percentage of my online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built.
      For example, the outward flaring of both feet 10-20 degrees in our setup facilitates the proper amount of body-friendly, free-flowing hip turn back and through. This is a major power source, and it also keeps the club traveling on the correct path. If you were to square your feet so that they were perpendicular to the target line, then your hips would be impeded from turning sufficiently in the backswing (which would then inhibit the shoulders from executing a full and effortless turn), and from releasing properly in the downswing to propel the club through the zone. Restricting this action can cause a variety of path issues and/or also place strain on the lower back, lead knee, and the hip joints as the hips will "want" to move laterally and turn through into the finish but will be fighting the body in the process.
      Have you looked into the comprehensive, sequential learning platform of the online school yet? That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish. At just $14.99 US/month or $149.99 per year the value in terms of what you get for that price point is beyond comprehension, and based on proven results it represents by far the best golf instruction deal on the planet.

      You don't need the flexibility of a Romanian gymnast - or even of this far less pliable golf instructor - to execute this swing, experience great ball striking, and reclaim - or even exceed - yardages from years past. I hope you'll give the school some thought.
      Thanks so much for your support in sharing your ball striking improvement and keep up the great work!! 💪💪

      I appreciate your supportive words, Rene, and I am glad to know that my instruction content is resonating with you!
      With regard to your question, I do my best to convey multiple “feels” or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible. We're all different physiologically and psychologically, and something that resonates effectively with one golfer may not necessarily work for another. As such, it is important to understand that the lessons on this channel - while fully aligned with the swing method I teach - address a variety of topics, issues, feels, and/or common flaws/fixes from one episode to the next. They are certainly not intended to be taken as a comprehensive, step-by-step, position-by-position learning platform like the structured curriculum of my online school, which I strongly recommend to anyone who truly wishes to get on the proper path towards owning this swing as it will make for a far more efficient and enjoyable learning process rather than haphazardly trying to piece things together through my UA-cam content. The lessons and drills provide the guidelines and set the boundaries, while allowing ample leeway for each individual golfer to infuse and exercise their own uniqueness. Thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result of the school, and their unsolicited testimonials tell the story quite well: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews.

    Hey Tom I love your videos! Using some of these tips I’ve developed a push in my swing so my contact is usually inside the ball and the ball flight fades to the right. I’ve seen some people suggest it’s grip, body tilt, wrist hinge, or swing path but I would love to see a video coving how to avoid pushing the ball to the right, thanks for everything Tom!

      Thanks - I'm glad to know that you are enjoying my content!
      It's important to know why the ball is behaving a particular way in order to reverse engineer the cause. The ball is simply responding to the flight plan assigned to it by the clubface at impact. Clubface relative to target line is the primary influencer of the ball's starting line and face relative to path determines direction and degree of curvature.
      While there are certainly videos on my channel that address the various potential reasons for your pushes, a better option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ It's a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the instruction style that has thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews

    I went to the practice facility at my club today and hit balls with these simple swing thoughts in mind. Was amazed at the consistency. Was hitting an A wedge to a green at 115 yards and was hitting the green within 15 feet about 80% of the time.
    I did find that as I shifted to longer irons I had to be careful not to hit down on the ball too much or they all went left. A little more sweep with the 4-5-6 irons …

      I do understand as there are certainly some similarities between baseball and golf, but also some considerable differences that can really cause us problems on the course. However, consider that George Brett - one of the game's all-time best hitters - subscribed to the Charlie Lau front-side hitting philosophy, and beyond his batting average he was not short on power either. So at least we former baseball players have that to lean (forward) on... 😎

    SagutoBro, you are the man! Not only am I now a single digit handicap but I can rip Randy Rhoads guitar parts like it's nobody's business! In all seriousness this sounds a little like that stack and tilt stuff people teach. What you are showing (right or not) helps me get my swing plane back to where it needs to be when I falter in that area.

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  5 місяців тому

      😆😆😆
      Now, what would possibly not be right about what I'm showing you?? Yes - sadly, Stack and Tilt was relentlessly attacked by the "mainstream" of failed "instruction" whose erroneous concepts were threatened by the truth, and their nefarious efforts successfully - albeit temporarily - attached an undeserving "stigma" to the S&T name among those who chose not to do their own research.
      The bottom line is this: The body-friendly, powerful, consistent, low-maintenance Stack and Tilt swing system is rooted in physics, geometry, and human physiology, and it is modeled on empirical observations of the game's greatest ball strikers. As such it does not discriminate by age or ability - from kids to seniors and everyone in between, inclusive of the best players in the world. We can watch any Tour event on TV and we'll see a significant number of players executing these motions, a fact corroborated by just how many of them have a very centered swing with the lead knee flexing and the trail leg straightening during the backswing, their lead arms on or very close to their tilted shoulder planes, and their hands deep behind their trail shoulder at the top.
      As you are likely aware, thousands upon thousands of folks across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result of learning this swing system through my online school. Compare and contrast that with the sad reality that despite all the advances in equipment, technology, golf course grooming, etc. the average golfer still struggles to break 100. Epic failures within that realm of “conventional” instruction, perhaps??? So many misconstrued and/or misguided teachings - such as taking the club straight back, turning the shoulders level while independently lifting the arms, shifting into and torquing against a firm trail side, firing the hips, actively rolling the hands through impact, etc. - have relegated generations of golfers to the vast abyss of inconsistency and chronic frustration (and chronic back/knee/hip pain as well).
      So yeah - it's right, and it's true, and it's all good, as is your single-digit handicap.
      Rock on!!
      Tom

    I’ve gotten to the point where my weight stays forward and my swing goes around (actually, I had already gotten that part a few years ago by watching Hogan and reading his stuff), I think my final piece is getting a feel for timing the pace of the backswing and then timing the beginning of the downswing. My downswing path is good…I think I just have some missed timing at the top.
    But, in just the last week, when I got my backswing and weight forward built in without having to think about, my ball striking has improved more than it had in 5 years.
    And, I am 48 and have played the game since I was 11 and was even on my high school team (but then pretty much took a break from golf until 5 years ago).
    Anyway, these videos have really helped me. Now, I just need to get it all “built in” so I am not thinking before the swing. I want stress-free golf!

Your videos are what got me to hit my driver straight, as well as to take a proper divots with my irons as well as getting some compression on the ball, I love hearing that "FFFFFFFfffffffff" sound from the ball as it flies through the air! the trail arm tuck is a nice technique as well as I noticed from a video analyzation of my swing that I had done recently it automatically gets your hands in front of the ball when the clubface makes contact with the ball, thus you do not have to set up to the ball with your hand in front of the ball.

I give all credit where it is due - including Andy Plummer and Mike Bennett for analyzing and interpreting the science, and to those who preceded them with their empirical observations of the game's best ball strikers and all their subsequent chalkboard number-crunching. I just do my best to take what they have built and convey it in my own simplified teaching style, which is on full display in the step by step, position by position curriculum of my online school: saguto.golf

      Sounds great, John! Here's how you properly set yourself up for it: We address the ball stacked shoulders over hips over knees with our weight balanced 50/50. We then simply bump our hips one inch towards the target while keeping everything else in place. This presets a little more weight forward while retaining the stacked relationship - generally 55/45 for the short and mid irons, 60/40 for the longer clubs. During the swing we gradually add more forward weight load into the transition (70/30), 80/20 halfway down, 90/10 impact, and 95/5 finish. There's no "weight shift"; instead, it's just a gradually increasing load onto the lead side. And the result is a centered, low-maintenance, body-friendly, consistent, and tremendously powerful motion.
      Of course you know that the online school is going to provide all the step-by-step, position-by-position detail for this, and it will make for a far more efficient, superior, and enjoyable learning process rather than haphazardly trying to piece things together through these channel videos that jump around randomly from topic to topic.

    Tom, I've been doing your method for a while and i started striking the ball better than i have ever. I however had major problems with pitching because the swing was so shallow. I recently took lessons and the instructor said i'm going around my body too much. I have no feel for the swing when i go too vertical. on the other hand my instructor told me i will struggle with wedges if i hit so shallow.

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  5 місяців тому +1

      It's critical to understand that we must allow the shaft plane to change when we are changing club lengths. Ultimately this should happen for you on autopilot, but that may not be the case right now if you are really trying to groove more of an around the body motion. The swing feel itself is the same, but we can't take a pitching wedge back on the same plane as the driver because the shaft lengths are so different.
      A good thought to help you would be Arnold Palmer's favorite tip - point the lead shoulder at the ball. Here is a lesson from my channel's archives on this topic: ua-cam.com/video/Jl_4vopx3xA/v-deo.html

      @SagutoGolf  5 місяців тому

      I sincerely appreciate that thought, Vin!
      First of all, before I could even think about competing it would probably take the better part of a year of dedicated practice to hone my scoring game (yes - those guys are THAT good!); Second - I thoroughly enjoy what I am doing in my chosen career as a PGA instructor in helping so many people enjoy the game more, and I wouldn't trade that for anything!
      Having said that, it's important to understand that Stack and Tilt is a SYSTEM for swinging the golf club and not a specific swing unto itself. The system is rooted in physics, geometry, and human physiology, and it is modeled on empirical observations of the game's greatest ball strikers. As such it does not discriminate by age or ability - from kids to seniors and everyone in between, inclusive of the best players in the world. So when it comes to winning tournaments with S&T, well - we can watch any Tour event on TV and see a significant number of players executing the trademark motions of the system, a fact corroborated by just how many of them have a very centered swing with the lead knee flexing and the trail leg straightening during the backswing, their lead arms on or very close to their tilted shoulder planes, and their hands deep behind their trail shoulders at the top. As such, folks can call it what they want or don't call it what they don't want, but the bottom line is that this is what they are doing, and it just happens that these same swing elements are shared with this "sorcery" known as Stack and Tilt...... 😎
      Thanks again for your message and support!

    Tom, another great video and props to Dad for the quality level. Something I just identified in my swing that I can't recall if you've addressed: standing up ever-so-slightly on the downswing, which causes un-KFC-like levels of uncrispiness and devilishly can masquerade itself as a head lift or weight shift, just to keep the golf demons amused at futile corrective efforts. This could be my missing puzzle piece. What say you?

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  5 місяців тому

      Thanks, and I'll be sure to share your kind words with Cameradad!!
      There are various causes for that standing up in the downswing thing. One of the more common ones is early extension - or casting - of the trail arm. This can occur in varying degrees, and the amount of standing up will be commensurate with the extent of the early extension.
      The Precision Impact that I demonstrated in this recent episode - ua-cam.com/video/hVxTSCNRroo/v-deo.html - is an excellent training aid that will help you to neutralize the cause and overcome this issue. I highly recommend it. • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  5 місяців тому

      I'm very glad to know that this lesson resonated with you, Joel, and I hope it performs well when you put it into practice!
      To be clear, this is by no means a "flat" swing as some might misinterpret it to be. It is a one-plane motion, meaning that there is no independent, disconnected lifting of the arms and hands as you would see in a two-plane move (there's no need to "drop it in the slot" if you've already put it there). Instead, by properly maintaining our connections the arms, hands, and club are "elevated" as a result of the tilting, turning, and extending motions while the lead arm crosses the chest 45 degrees. So yes - while the "feel" may be hip-high, in actuality by turning our shoulders on that inclined plane and maintaining our relationship with the ball we achieve that classic look and very powerful position at the top!
      Watch any Tour event on TV and you'll see a significant number of players executing these motions, a fact corroborated by just how many of them have a very centered swing with the lead knee flexing and the trail leg straightening during the backswing, their lead arms on or very close to their tilted shoulder planes, and their hands deep behind their trail shoulder at the top.

    Hello Tom... I just watched your Ball Striking Mini-Course and let me tell you, they're great. Thank you. I would like to see a video explaining how far away from the ball should you be in your set up. My brother, who is a scratch golfer, helps me out a lot. He keeps telling me that I'm too far away from the ball when I set up and I top the ball. Then I try to move closer and then I feel like I'm chunking the ball a lot. Where is that sweet spot in distance between you and the ball at set up. Thank you.

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  5 місяців тому +2

      Thanks - I'm glad you enjoyed the mini course and appreciate your kind words in that regard!
      I actually just released a member video on setting the proper distance from the ball. If you wish to enroll in the online school, you'll be able to access it within the school portal or here: ua-cam.com/video/JLyks1XKC5c/v-deo.html
      In more general terms, these setup keys may help: We should feel evenly balanced between heel and toe in both feet. This balance is achieved by first setting our knees over the toes (or at least over the toe end of our shoelaces) to activate the ground connection, and then pushing our butt out to incline the hips and chest so that a relationship with the ball is established. The arms hang down naturally from the shoulders with all clubs except the driver, for which we push them out an inch or so to encourage more of the around-the-body motion needed for that lengthy shaft. We address the ball stacked shoulders over hips over knees with our weight balanced 50/50. We then simply bump our hips one inch towards the target while keeping everything else in place. This presets a little more weight forward while retaining the stacked relationship. Both feet are flared outward approximately 10-20 degrees, with the knees similarly angled outward. This orientation facilitates a stress-free, flowing motion back and through, resulting in a very body-friendly, consistent, powerful swing.
      As for the school, it is designed to get golfers on the fast track towards properly learning this swing system in a comprehensive, sequential platform, and it will make for a far more efficient, superior, and enjoyable learning process rather than haphazardly trying to piece things together through these channel videos that jump around randomly from topic to topic. The school is where you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish, along with diagnostic and corrective tools for resolving common swing, contact, and ball flight issues, and much more. At just $14.99/month or $149.99 per year the value in terms of what you get for that price point is beyond comprehension, and based on proven results it represents by far the best golf instruction deal on the planet.

      @@SagutoGolf I joined the member page and watched this video ua-cam.com/video/JLyks1XKC5c/v-deo.html for setting up to the ball... wow what a big difference. I can feel a big difference with my hips when sticking my butt out, like you see Rory McIlroy doing when he sets up to the ball. My hips feel more easier to turn now. I used to have the feeling of my butt just drooping down and that made my hips feel less free to move. Also pointing the club out and giving it a 1/4 tilt up is perfect distance between me and the ball now. My set up feels great now. Thank you so much, now I can't wait to get out there Monday on the course to see how my game improves. How about a video on how to hit out of the Bunkers? That would be great. Thank you.

      Well, I'll answer your question with the fact that a significant percentage of my online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. _ It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion._ Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built.
      Have you looked into the comprehensive, sequential learning platform of the online school yet? That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish. You don't need the flexibility of a Romanian gymnast - or even of this far less pliable golf instructor - to execute this swing, experience great ball striking, and reclaim - or even exceed - yardages from years past. I hope you'll give the school some thought.
      And yes - we do have some great courses down here. I hope you can make it back to the South Strand again one of these days!

    Your first priority brought to mind a book /DVD called “Simply Golf: Back to Basics” by Aussie coach of Appleby, Allenby and Scott named Steve Bann who was the first instructor I ever read who suggested starting with weight on front foot describing it as “Step-up is Impact” start where you want to finish. I tried it and the difference is amazing.

    Tom, I have been following you for a while and have been incorporating your lessons. My ball striking has improved, but I can't always take a divot with my mid-irons (6-8). Even the divots with my scoring clubs are relatively shallow, although I'm not complaining about that! When you start your downswing, it appears you are covering the ball with a slight hip movement toward the target and your sternum moving forward prior to hip rotation and impact. Is this the correct movement?

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  5 місяців тому

      I'm very glad to learn of your improvement, Paul!
      The lateral targetward action of the hips acts as a governor to prevent a premature over-rotation and thereby enables the player to keep their upper torso square and their swing center intact without having to fight their body. It's also a very powerful move that you will notice with every great ball striker. (Cue up a face-on video of any Tour player, put your finger, mouse pointer, or some other reference tool on their lead hip at address, and then observe the extent to which the hips move laterally past your pointer in the downswing while the head - and thus the swing center - remains in place.) Most amateur golfers already have plenty of the rotational component; they need to build in the lateral hip slide to suppress the early-onset spinout that causes so many to get steep and across the line, or they get stuck, early extend, flip, etc. Here are some lesson videos specific to this topic:

    Awesome, I’ve tried other swings but keep coming back to Tom’s videos. One question; is it just the camera angle or do you have the club face slightly open behind the ball at address?

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  5 місяців тому +1

      I'm glad you enjoyed it, David!
      The face is open a degree or two to the target line at address. Consider that the zero-point of the swing is even with the lead shoulder/armpit from a face-on view. The face would be square to the target there, but since the ball position is behind that spot, without any contrived manipulations this causes the face to be ever so slightly open to the target line. This relationship - face open to the target and closed to the in-to-out downswing path - is how we achieve the stock push-draw ball flight of this swing system.
      By the way, with regard to watching different videos from different sources, please be careful in navigating the muddied, overly-complicated, oft-conflicting realm of golf instruction. That is not a dig against any other teachers out there. It's simply best to commit to a system - whether it be this body-friendly, powerful, consistent, low-maintenance method or another - put your blinders on, and stick to it. And if the system I teach appeals to you or at the very least stokes your curiosity, then here is a link to my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ It's a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the instruction style that has thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews

      Speaking of which, you may be interested to know that a significant percentage of my online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built.
      Have you looked into the comprehensive, sequential learning platform of the online school yet? That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish. • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  5 місяців тому +1

      Glad you enjoyed it, Alex!!
      The answer to your overdraws lies in ball flight laws. Clubface angle relative to target line is the primary influencer of the ball's starting line and face relative to path determines direction and degree of curvature. From there we can then do some reverse engineering to identify and neutralize the cause of a sideways shot. For example, it could be that your path has shallowed too much or that your swing still has some leftover remnants of compensatory moves that you made to neutralize a previously steeper path - perhaps something as simple as an overly strong grip. Video and/or a launch monitor that provides path and face angle data will be very helpful in diagnosing the culprit.

    I used to do a Stack n Tilt style swing like this. The only reason I went back to a more conventional swing is I like to hit the ball really long. I also can say SnT had me hitting plenty far enuf, I just really like the 320+ distance from the conventional swing. But it does take way more work. Tom obviously hits it plenty far and very solid.

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  5 місяців тому

      That's some big distance you're getting there, Steve! 💪💪 I will say, however, that a properly executed one-plane swing that fits within the parameters of Stack and Tilt system does not skimp on distance. For example, watch any Tour event on TV and you'll see a significant number of players executing "S&T-approved" motions, a fact corroborated by just how many of them have a very centered swing with the lead knee flexing and the trail leg straightening during the backswing, their lead arms on or very close to their tilted shoulder planes, and their hands deep behind their trail shoulder at the top.
      Anyway, keep up the great work and enjoy those bombs!

    Your lead arm is straight as an arrow and your hip rotation is 👍🏼

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  5 місяців тому

      Thanks for taking notice, Maureen - I appreciate that! It really all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built. For example, the outward flaring of *_both_* feet 10-20 degrees in our setup facilitates the proper amount of body-friendly, free-flowing hip turn back and through. This is a major power move that also keeps the club traveling on the correct path. If you were to square your feet so that they were perpendicular to the target line, then your hips would be impeded from turning sufficiently in the backswing (which would then inhibit the shoulders from executing a full and effortless turn), and from releasing properly in the downswing to propel the club through the zone. Restricting this action can cause a variety of path issues and/or also place strain on the lead knee and the hip joints as the hips will "want" to move laterally and turn through into the finish but will be fighting the body in the process.

    Question from someone who has been trying to get the consistent swing. Went to the range yesterday with this swing thought and practiced. Started with my 60, I would say 3 out of 5 balls were hit really well but was maybe getting a little too much draw so missing my target by about 15 ft left on some. Then worked my way to 56 and pw, and was hitting them well, got to my 9 iron and then my 7 iron and seemed like I was consistently hitting punch shot hooks and not getting any height, wondering if that’s just a club face issue at impact or could have been just hitting a lot of balls and rotation and tempo was getting off? I seem to always struggle the lower I go with irons even with the same feels.

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  5 місяців тому

      The first thing I'd check is ball position. While this system affords you some leeway, in general once my students and members show some level of proficiency with the swing I suggest that they migrate to a stock ball position that is in the middle of the stance for short irons, two balls inside the lead heel for middle irons, and creeping more forward for the longer clubs - the farthest forward being even with the inside of the lead heel for the driver (with the stance width increasing as we move from shorter to longer clubs). From there they can make incremental tweaks to see how different positions affect impact quality and shot shape.
      As for hand position, it remains consistent - even with the inside of your lead thigh - no matter which club you are hitting. Additionally, the lead arm and club shaft should form a straight line from the face-on view, giving your setup a lowercase "y" look.
      In more general terms with regard to shot shape, the answer lies in ball flight laws. Clubface angle relative to target line is the primary influencer of the ball's starting line and face relative to path determines direction and degree of curvature. From there we can then do some reverse engineering to identify and neutralize the cause of a sideways shot.
      While there are certainly videos on my channel that address this topic, a better option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ It's a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the instruction style that has thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews

    I followed the free mini course and I feel like I’m overall hitting it better. But I am constantly still catching the ball fat. It might be that I am uncomfortable with my weight forward or I am too far forward. What do you recommend I do?

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  5 місяців тому

      Consider the following possibilities, Cooper: 1) Ball position is too far forward, 2) Hands are too far back at address (they should be in line with the inside of your lead thigh), 3) The swing center and low point are drifting backwards at some point during the motion (face-on video will help you determine this), 4) The downswing is steep and/or the path is out-to-in, 5) Early extension of the trail arm during the downswing (also known as "casting"), 6) Flipping/scooping through the zone, 7) Loss of relationship with the ball (shoulder angle flattening, loss of tilt). Though not an exhaustive list, those are the primary causes of fats, thins, and tops. By the way, always begin with the setup - in this case the first two possibilities - prior to diving into a swing intervention.

    I am finding that in my setup, I "feel" like 90% of my weight is on my lead side.
    I am straightening my right leg and have more flex in my left (lead) knee at address and try to feel like I am turning over my lead leg.
    I pair that with making sure my lead arm stays straight as possible, especially at impact.
    Those are the only two swing thoughts I use, and then except the results.
    It has been transforming for consistency, as well as freeing mentally. Just do those 2 things and I am probably hitting the ball solid.
    I am finding that I don't feel the "need" to hit balls all the time in fear I may lose my swing.
    Any thoughts?

      My thoughts, Mitchell, are that you are doing an excellent job at removing variables and building a ball striking "machine"! 💪💪
      For golfers who are transitioning from some type of "shift & lift" motion - which represents the vast majority, including myself several years ago - it may initially need to "feel" as though we have 905 of our weight on the lead side. In fact, one of the more effective drills in my online school is named "90% Weight Forward/Arms Straight" - exactly what you are doing!!
      Thanks for sharing your swing keys and keep up the great work!!
      Tom
      PS: By the way, if you've not already joined, have you considered enrolling in the online school and taking your learning - and your game - to the next level?
      And if you'd like to first "dip a toe in the water" prior to diving into the school, then here is a link to my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ It's a great way to further your familiarization of this swing system and be introduced to the structured learning method that is delivering the referenced results.
