1984-1996 C4 Corvette Headlamp Motor repair, tips, tricks L98 LT1 LT4 LT5 both sides in detail

These are all my tricks to repairing the common C4 headlight plastic bushing issue without complete disassembly, removal of the headlight housings.  on car, least intrusive path.
You can “jerk” the pass side gear out without pulling armature but it can damage it going in or out as it takes a good force. Also another trick that does work on pass side is pull the motor magnet housing two screws and just carefully pull it up using a screw driver JUST ENOUGH.. many times you can get the gear out without popping the brushes. I do this myself with good success rate but in vid i pulled as if you went too far you would need to see how to put it all back. On my personal jobs i try and not pull armature all the way but sometimes it takes to the brush limit to get it out. Driver side does not suffer from this issue as the gear is opposite side of worm gear and it comes right out.

For my 140k mile car, the roll pin was the biggest pita. i wouldn’t punch out, and got fairly mangled as i fooled around with different tools to punch it out.
it was also a pita to punch back in.

cold starts are not possible due to the starters being preserved in kryptonite. Push starting is the only p[possibility

Interesting, that your 1990 ZR1 has plastic Wagner headlights. I thought they came with glass Guide bulbs.

Hey Ed. Yea mid year or so 90 zr1 only started using. Then reg c4 carried to 92 with the glass. Of course the glass are way better!!!
