- George Harrison interviewed by Alan Freeman for Let It Rock Around the World on 18 October 1974. It was later broadcast on 5 October 1975. Throughout the interview George performs acoustic versions of Dark Horse, Awaiting On You All, Far East Man, and I Don't Care Anymore (with some improvised lyrics) as well as a bit of Buddy Holly.
Unbelievable interview. He spoke so much truth and it all came from his heart. Amazing person!
Really makes me wish there had been a George Harrison Unplugged concert made and recorded for distribution. His voice and guitar by themselves was more than enough to make magic.
George was not only a great singer but a good human being. Whenever he speaks you will learn something from him. RIP
This is a really good interview. Fluff let George speak, and he was incredibly interesting. ❤Love you so much, George❤
This is the best interview of George I've ever heard.
Sings & plays fantastically here.
Everybody has a favorite Beatle and George was mine because he was the lead guitar. I remember how he struggled to sing with John and Paul who had super voices. And it was George that dragged the Beatles off to India and turned all of us on to a higher consciousness. My Sweet Lord was as good as Imagine! This was a great interview! I wish the Beatles had never broken up and that they were still around.
THnaks! i could listen to him talking for hours..George was a spiritual artist. He sought after greater purposes of life and gave music to his inner feelings and revelations in a rock era which was itself a challenging task to do.He was really unique. George goes beyond The Beatles imho.
There’s no one like him.
You add the talents, the looks, the voice, and The fame and that doesn’t even scratch the surface of who he was. There’s just so much of George that he has yet to share with us. He’s an old soul that just never died.
Love and miss you Georgie

Love George and miss him. Fly high George
You forget what a great singer he was

"Isn't it a pity -- that's about me"
"In what way George?"
"I don't know (laughs) Any way you care to mention."
so love this man. how fukkking honest.
Love George Harrison. He was so spot on with what was important in life. His music and words resonate with my soul. ❤
Heard this interview when it was first broadcast and managed to tape most of it on an old Grundig reel to reel tape recorder. Subsequently transferred it to cassette and then CD. This is a slightly edited version from the original transmission so it would have been nice to have heard the full version but still good after some 48 yrs RIP George & Alan
Always a pleasure to listen to George...❤️
Really nice version of dark horse
I sure miss George, he was a wonderful dude.
GREAT brilliant insightful taught SO much of spirituality religion love I am eternally grateful to George Harrison cried the day he died LOVE forever thank you for sharing all the best
George ❤️
Amazing
He makes some very interesting points here and Fluff let's him talk.
29:29 Just meeting Paul again -- cause we drifted off away from each other -- with all the sue me sue you blues -- whatever we've been through -- but there's always been something there that has tied us together - it's like we've come through a big dark tunnel and we've come back out the other end & we're ready to pick up and be friends again.
29:38 John Lennon's an amazing person - he is brilliant - he is brilliant - there's no question about it, John Lennon is a saint and he is heavy duty and he's great and I love him -- but at the same time he is also a bastard! But that's the great thing about him, you see."
Thanks for sharing! 😁🙏 Amazing interview! I don't think I've ever heard one where George played so many of his new songs for the interview. 💓✌
Thank you! So many amazing live songs by him here!
The part on Henry McCullough and Paul is interesting.
especially considering Henry McCullough was later signed to Dark Horse Records.
A real inspiration ♥️
Really enjoyed that interview!
soothing
His singing voice recovered from the tour pretty well if this is 74.
This was recorded a month before the tour began.
The song is called waiting on you all!!!! By chaining the names of the Lord and you'll be free the Lord is awaiting on you all to awaken and see!!! Love you George my blessed guru!
27:31 "Scan not a friend with microscopic glass you know his faults and let his foibles pass..."
Who is shooting clay pigeons in the background? Or firepit crackle? Or jellybeans... Anyway, a great interview, such a soothing voice and a soulful leader. So well spoken later in life since the day he was deported from Hamburg for being underage. Astounding how much he grew once he found Spirituality.
Fucking annoying, especially over a great interview such as this.
I thought someone was beating rats 🤣😂
I was listening and reading the comments at the same time when I read yours I laughed out loud 😁
@@juniorjohnson5961 Thanks. I please to aim...
What an amazing man. So inspirational. ❤️
This would be a better clip if someone had been able to edit out the sound of the bugs being zapped to death in the background (lol) omg
I'm sure the most potent part of this interview at 10:21 was cut because of its power...
Oh, how sweet. Just two days before I was born :)))
"That whole dopey Beatle bit..." lol
Awaiting On You All @13:05
Far East Man @25:06
I Don't Care Anymore @33:02
Best mustache : George Harrison Best Guru : Krishna
Great interview aside from the crackling fire
OM = sound
In the beginning the word was there
The word was God
The word was with God
The word became flesh
18:30 sad. Just sad.
🥺
I'll tell what is sad, Brian Jones; he was shadowed by Mick & Keith, largely for he couldn't write songs, or sing. And he was too proud to accept his third part position.
George was a perfect match in the Beatles - his smoother personality, nothing like Brian's ego.
Ah, Fluff Freeman...
George was a better and more innovative guitar player than Paul will ever be.
It’s not a competition
You'd hope so. He was the guitarist in the band after all. I expect most guitarists are better on the guitar than the bass players in the band, and vice versa
@@demc7068 Paul might not agree with you.
@@3155DOGMAN if you can find one interview of Paul saying he was a greater guitarist than George I will give $500 to your charity of choice.
@@demc7068 George and Paul were both great guitarist and each had a signature style.
Not arf!
Gosh, George doesn't like a lot of people. Gloomy Gus.
he's a bit of a moaner and yet everyone is saying he's such a great human being, except you and i
Snipe after snipe about McCartney over the years, and yet he never sniped back. Not that 'spiritual,' of you, George, really.
you noticed as well...not enough people noticing and commenting on this side of george which is quite prevalent...spirituality my arse
This was George’s most boring interview ever.
Yes it was! He was trippin' out on something...
Thank you George
