- Hi everyone, it’s been long time since my last landscape embroidery.
For this video, I wanted to film a video tutorial with the pattern, so I’ve drawn lots of details, while mostly I only draw a few outline and make free hand stitch. It looks quite complicated but when you separate it into steps it’s not that difficult.
In this video I show my working progress from start to finish, along with some subtitles explaining what I’m doing.
The most difficult part for this piece is to make the waves look smooth,
I’ve used 39 colors, many shades of blue colors.
Stitches used: Needle Painting
Fabric: Thin canvas
Thread: DMC Embroidery Floss 1 strand

Is there a material list regarding the exact colors that are used, I'm new at this.
Yes, there is the DMC color chart, I made it similar to Paint by numbers, just with more details, enlarge the chart you can see all those small numbers, or check in the long video 😄

I have a couple of cross stitch patterns that I'm now thinking of trying to turn them into embroidery and doing this thread painting!
You should definitely try it, plus cross stitch pattern already comes with all the colors, will make it easier. 😊

I have just started to make a pet portrait and it’s so difficult I feel like giving up. My eyes hurt so much and I have so much self doubt. Everything just doesn’t look right 😂 You made it look so easy! I know I just have to keep pushing through. I want to be able to embroider anything with such ease instead of self doubt
Thank you! Don’t give up but also don’t push yourself too hard. I take a break for at least 10 minutes every hour. If you keep stitching for too long is bad for the eyes. Practice makes it better, there is no easy way achieving it.

My eyes now hurts so much after 10 hour of stitching. I must take your advice to take a break every hour! Will need to set an alarm for that coz it’s so easy to lose track of time when stitching. 😅

Where did you get the thin canvas fabric from? I love how it looks, this is stunning.
Thanks. I got it from local fabric store. It’s better to see the fabric in real to choose. It’s not too hard and not stretchy at all.
Beautiful! If you ever come out with free versions i would love to try a pattern like this. Covid caused alot of hardship. I am trying to do something like this for my mom for her birthday coming up. I just picked up embroidery again after finding all my supplies in storage. Can never find how to make these patterns. Can someone link me to somewhere i can use to make patterns like this?

Yes, it’s pencil, I don’t have a specific type, 2B is fine and easy to find

Thanks, takes about 6-7 days because of taping videos, but anyhow it’s slow work with 1 strand thread. 😊
what sort of thread do you use please?
Cotton stranded embroidery floss, DMC color.
What did you use to draw out the outlines?
For this one, I draw on iPad then print it out on the cloth.

Hi, I like to use iPad to draw. But mostly for landscape I just use pencil to sketch on the cloth directly.
