"what. a local music tv show" 1993-1995
    The Cows 3-95
"what." was a showcase of a great number of the best local alternative music bands in the twin cities at the time. These bands were regularly playing at clubs like the 7th Street Entry, and most had recordings out. Hosted by impresario, curator and artist Chris Strouth, the format is a good old fashioned "TV Show", but the emphasis was on capturing these bands at their best, with the best audio and camera work we could do, and of course some lunch at the Roadside Inn.

can't agree more, they were epic, Shannon was the best.. I don't think I saw them 30times but definitely enough where Shannon avoid us or f with us when we made it to the front.

Shannon’s hangman tattoo is the greatest ever. This is when punk rock was still dangerous and going to a live show involved some amount of fear. I miss it.

The Cows was actually the first band I ever saw as a national act on the night club touring underground scene. I never knew their music and it was really poorly mixed on the soundboard. Loud noise in the small Reptile House club in Grand Rapids Michigan is all I thought about them. The singer blew a trumpet in the microphone in a couple songs and he wasn't in key or even rhythmically matching the songs
