You know that's Ronne Wood on Guitar from the Stones. right Jamel?....ya gotta give Ron some love!
Thank you so much for this ❤
I'm losing you
Live with faces
My bro.. would u like to react to my band.. its a Spanish metal band.. and ilthe song has a very strong message...... im a fan of yours
This band was perfect live...as long as they were sober enough to play and it didn't devolve into a fistfight onstage. Brilliant!
you know that guitar player is Ron Wood who's been in the Rolling Stones now for about 40 freekin years
Yet some fans still consider him the new guy
45 years.
The newest Stone 😆

They started out as the Small Faces as no band member was over 5'7"!! Steve Marriott left the band to form Humble Pie, Rod became the Lead Singer and was Much Taller than the Rest of the band and had to cut Small from their name and become simply Faces!!
now your getting it son! the "Faces" were awesome.
He has to react to Ooh La La.
The Faces were one of hard driving bands ever. They should be in the HOF.
They were inducted a couple of years ago. ☺
@@Reynate65 Thanks for the information
Absolutely!!!!!!!!!!
@Rogers Collier Yeah they slash marked it , Small Faces/Faces . They got it right . I prefer the Faces phase of this group but I give the super talented Steve Marriott credit for laying the groundwork for propelling this group to iconic status . Now that Jann Wenner is gone from the Board let’s see if we can get Jethro Tull in there . Weiner did not like Tull and I heard was the fly in the ointment on their inclusion . Are with me RC ?

"The next time I decide to marry, I'll just find a woman I don't like and buy her a house!" -- Rod Stewart
The only thing missing in this performance is, "Sit down, get up, get out!" I live for that line in the recording.
Kenny Jones on drums, later went on to The Who, after Keith Moon died.
And in my opinion did as good of a job as anyone could do trying to fill Moonie's shoes.
@@kathleenwilliams7719 I think Kenney Jones was technically as good a drummer as Moon, just Keith was one of those great musicians that had that undefinable extra that makes them stand out.
@@foolsjourney8118 Agreed. Kenney is an outstanding drummer, but ironically he has *discipline*, which normally is exactly what you want from a drummer ... except when you’re trying to replace Moon, who was a train on the edge of crashing off the tracks at any moment
@@johnhoerl7326 best description of him ever. :-D Certain drummers- Moon, Bonham, Baker for example- wrote the rulebook on throwing away the rulebook.
You didn't mention that other guitar guy there (Ronnie Wood) who went on to some other rock n roll band (possibly called The Rolling Stones, I think...?), or that the bassist (Ronnie Lane) made an album with Pete Townshend (called Rough Mix), just as Who Are You was about to be recorded. Just stickin up for the nobodies...
Just pullin yer chains, guys. I also agree with what all you said about Kenney Jones.
Really though, for a great experience, that Rough Mix album is perfect to hear just before the Who Are You album. Same acoustic guitar, synths, with Pete's music on both. As a bonus, you get a good taste of why Ronnie Lane is so musically legendary aside (and inside) Faces. Although mellower, Rough Mix eases you nicely into the kick in your head that Who Are You gives.
Don't thank me, just enjoy it if you try it
Kick ass performance, but darn, he skipped favorite line.
"Yes, I'll pay your cab fare home
you can even use my best cologne
just don't be here in the morning when I wake up"
I noticed that too. Flubbed. That's a great trio of lines.
Yeah, lyrics are a bit different here. Shame they omitted such a classic verse.
You won't need to much persuasion, I don't mean to sound degrading but with a face like that you got nothing to laugh about
This is one of the rare examples where the live version exceeded the studio version. Studio is tight af, but man, this one has got tons of swagger. Good call dude.
VERY good call indeed!
NAH - Rod blew it and didn't even sing the whole song. He forgot the lyrics - but he sold it.
Rod used to drink a bit back in the day😉
@@beverlyoyarzun3326 Wasn't he hospitalized for drinking too much once? 😂
@@beverlyoyarzun3326 - The Faces did like a drink live - Rod, Ronnie, Ronnie & Mac - not sure about Kenney though.......
Some of the best music ever! Love Ronnie Wood with Rod!!
They always looked like brothers to me.😊🤷♀️🥰
The Faces were one of my favorite groups as a teen. And Rod was one of the best front men in rock. I was so lucky that they were my first concert. Fantastic!!
Ditto...mine too...Glasgow ¹974
Lucky, lucky!
Rod doesn't sing it, but Ooh La La is their other HUGE song, a real classic.
Rod did cut his own version later!
plus it was used by Wes Anderson in Rushmore.
Ronnie Wood does the lead vocals- a real rarity!
@@beverlyoyarzun3326 Ron sang it because Ronnie Lane couldn't because his MS was beginning to kick in
I love that song! Doesn’t get enough attention.
Solo, a completely different guy in the beginning. "Gasoline Alley" and "Handbags and Gladrags" are great examples of his great early work, some of his best ever.
Gasoline Alley always makes me tear up😢, it just gets me every time.
@@JF-kv1gm Check out the A cappella version on YT.

My body stunk, but I kept my funk... Love that line... haven't we all been there once or twice..... LOL.
Love that song!!
Yes! Absolutely!!!
Yep!!!! One of the great songs in history!!!!
I've been asking for months, haha
Steve Marriott left the Small Faces to form Humble Pie...and soon after Faces was born.

I was just thinking about Humble Pie & Little Stevie Marriott. What a talent, wish he was still here.
small faces, the kinks and many other bands of the time were overshadowed by the beatles who were great songwriters but were ok musicans !!!!!!!
He did his version of Etta James “ I rather go blind “ and a Jimmy Hendrix’s “Angel” .. their on Never a dull moment!!
"I Wish It Would Rain" is amazing, and yes, "Angel"!!!
I'd rather go blind shows their true talent.
I love Angel 💞
In the sixties they called him Rod the Mod. He was great in the Faces, then he went solo and became a parody of himself. His love life was more interesting than his music. Like a male Kardashian! God bless him!
He always had a solo career in parallel when he was with the Faces.
They do an incredible version of Paul McCartney’s song Maybe I’m Amazed.
Incredibly sloppy version of McCartneys song 😎 which is what Faces are known for

I missed his comment from the studio version of “Sit down, get up, get out”. It truly was a different mindset in those days. Peace to you, Jamal. Thanks for what you do.
This song is all about picking up the groupies who hung out back by the stage door after concerts. Yeah, he was a wild one, for sure.
Yesssssss!! There's a live version of "Maybe I'm Amazed" (cover of Paul McCartney's song) of around this period..... pure magic. The Faces were such a good time band, but brilliant musicians and good friends. It shows. Thanks, Jamel!
I still think this is the best opening riff ever. Ron Wood still is immense.
This is as raw as rock n roll gets.
What a perfect song. I always tell people that if the aliens arrive and demand to know what rock and roll is just play this song for them. This is rock and roll.
Hate to reply to my own comment, but although I do enjoy your reactions more with live versions, this is one of the few times that the studio recording is so much better on the ears. Gotta give it a listen.
Best reaction channel I've ever seen. No fakery. You really "get it". The old school music.
I love his voice especially on love songs like The first cut is the deepest.
His best IMO.

Aww yeah, the Faces! The late great Ronnie Lane was a totally underrated bass player, singer and lyricist in his own right... terrific work on the keys by the late Ian McLagan... Ronnie Wood needs no intro with that fuzz-laden guitar... Kenney Jones was playing drums with the Small Faces when he was about 16... and this is the music Rod Stewart should’ve been singing all along... you should go back into the Small Faces’ library and check out “Song of A Baker” and “Tin Soldier” if you haven’t already...
Pete, you said it all. And at last someone has spelt Kenney's name right!!!!
When Rod Stewart and Ron Wood (who would later join the rolling stones) joined the Small Faces (Ronnie Lane, Ian McLagan, and Kenny Jones), they dropped the "Small" and just became the Faces.
You always get to the heart of it. Seeing Faces up close & personal, I can tell you , few people ,outside of Otis Redding and James Brown, whom I also saw in 85, "work a room" like Rod.
The 70’s were just like that, freewheeling and fun... Until you had to get up and go to work 😫
That's Ron Wood on guitar who's been with the Stones for nearly 50 years. Ronnie Lane is there too.
Rod and the guitarist Ronnie Wood had been in the Jeff Beck Group. Then they joined the Faces and Rod started releasing solo albums while he was in the Faces. So throughout the early 70s he was releasing Faces' albums and solo albums and the other members of the Faces would make appearances on his solo albums, especially Ronnie Wood.
Ooh it's missing one of my favourite lines of all time - "Yeah I'll pay your cab fare home, you can even use my best cologne,
Just don't be here in the morning when I wake up" - such a shit thing to say, but Rod makes it borderline charming?!
Yes I agree I was disappointed that was omitted from this version for sure
"I know your name is Rita 'cause your perfume is smellin' sweeter..." R&R Fella's!
More more more of Rod! I Was Only Joking, Reason to Believe and First Cut Is the Deepest. So many more!
Yes Yes YES! I have been waiting for someone else to mention "I Was Only Joking". It wasn't a hit single, just a deep cut on a brilliant album, but it is such a bittersweet, nostalgic song, beautifully written and performed.
First concert I ever went to was Rod Stewart 1981 huge fan ever since. This man oozes sexiness for me .... I have a friend that is now 88 and has been to see him at least 50 times. Young or old ALL Us women love Rod (pardon the pun).... 😀
What's cool is the six degrees of separation that these band members have, going to, or forming other bands. Rock n' Roll goulash!!!
Great song, great band!. Laid the foundation for groups like the Black Crowes..this is a JAM!
the faces were a blast man. they used tour with a bar and bartender for the stage. this is one of the best straight up rock n roll songs ever....nice live version here. rod kinda became schmalzy in the later years but his work with faces, jeff beck group and his earlier solo stuff just kicks ass and stands the test of time. rock'n rod....
Rod Stewart was both a solo artist and a member of The faces at the same time. The Faces played on his solo albums. He made 3 solo albums and 4 with The Faces between 1970-73. This was released the same year as Maggie May.
Next Rod singing on Jeff Beck "Truth" album "You Shook Me"

Yeah, he was quite a ladies man. He’s got 8 kids ranging from 9-41. His 3rd wife now is 26 years his junior. I’ve seen recent interviews and he is absolutely crazy about her, it’s really cute.
A lot of Rockers have many kids. Francis Rossi from Status Quo also has 8 children!
Jagger may have more.
Look for the Rod Stewart bbc 1 version of Maggie May ...its him withe faces..its amazing
Best live band ever! Back in the day bands like this could be found in local ballrooms and theatres.. everybody was up the front and dancing. 1970... I remember they turned off the power in Bournemouth Winter Garden but we all kept singing anyway.
These guys were the non stop party hardy band of the 1970s. Great musicians too. They started in 1965 as the Small Faces, because they were all short guys from the East End of London, ( a "face" was Mod slang for a guy ). The Who in contrast were from the West. When guitarist/singer/founder Steve Marriott split to form Humble Pie they had to hire guitarist Ron Wood and vocalist Rod Stewart to take his place. You should also check out The Small Faces too. In their short time span they recorded a huge amount of material from blue eyed soul to psychedelic to raucous rock. My hero in both bands is bassist Ronnie Lane. A fantastic singer songwriter who contracted multiple sclerosis, like his father, but never gave in, kept on playing until he couldn't, lived on for 21 years and was a beloved figure to many. Many benefits were organized to help him with medical expenses and MS research were done over the years, starting in 1983 with people like Clapton, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Steve Winwood, his old band mates and many others.
That’s Ronnie Wood before The Stones and before that he played bass for Jeff Beck!
Ages ago Bono was giving an induction speech for the RRHOF (He was inducting The Who) and he was commenting that every top R&R band needed someone with a great nose. He said that The Faces had 2 of them so they gave Ron Wood to the Stones. ua-cam.com/video/14AgJJKCKEA/v-deo.html
Actually, he joined the Beck group in '67 on bass and then Faces in '69. Keef asked him to join the Stones in 1975.
Much too talented for bass. Kick ass guitar player. UK just really produced a ton of them back then.
Tonight's the Night
Thank you Jamal, for this channel, and YOU. Saw Rod and the Faces on July 9,1972 in Pittsburgh, Pa..at the Civic Arena. Badfinger opened for them, I was in high school, will never forget this concert, when "Stay with Me" played, there was the largest balloon drop or some sort of inflatable balls landing all over the floor seating of the arena. We were high (sorry, that is the way it was back then), and it just super enhanced the experience. Rod was such a great front man and rocked out major league before he went solo. Again, a sign of the times in the 80's as ballad's became mainstream. Love Rod, but feel super blessed to have seen Badfinger.
Jamel, I am SO glad you finally reacted to this one! The Organist for The Faces and previously The Small Faces is Ian Mclagan (Mac). He moved to Austin, TX during the 90’s with his wife Kim (who was the first wife of Keith Moon of The Who). Mac had a group from the 90’s till 2014 called Ian Mclagan and the Bump Band. In 2004 Kim opened a Spa next door to my Mum’s tearoom. Since then my family and I had a personal friendship with Kim and Mac. Sadly, Kim passed away in a car accident in 2006. In tribute Mac wrote his album “Never Say Never” to her. Check it out when you have time. Mac passed away in 2014 of a stroke. His music and legacy lives on through channels like yours.
The Faces "Ooh La la"
Jamal, this was actually before Maggie Mae
I’m pretty sure Maggie Mae was out in the middle of 1971 & this came out around the end of December
So Jamel, Did you notice Ronnie wood From the Rolling stones playing Guitar for the faces? He co wrote this song and played with them until Kieth Richards invited him to join the Rolling Stones
Ronne Lane, the bassist in Faces, was a great songwriter who a lot of people credit with inspiring the rocking acoustic side of Rod Stewart. Unfortunately he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis which limited his career and he passed away too early in 1997.
The late great Ronnie Lane, criminally underrated.
Only sorry I can only give this one thumbs up. When the base kicks in the song takes off. What a man he was.
@@grahamharrison2842 - I'm with you. A genius....

I lived next door to the late great Ronnie Lane in the late 80’s in Austin Texas.
Great memories.
"A Nod is as good as a wink to a blind horse." Now that's rock and roll.
I now have 5 days off work after a very hard 2 weeks & I've been saving this little trio of Rod Stewart reactions to watch 😊😊😊
To answer one of your comments, Rod had a lot of lives. He became famous with the Jeff Beck Group , then he and Ronnie Wood joined the Faces. During his time with them he started his solo career. When that eclipsed the Faces, he left them and did many fine solo albums. Only later did his record company suggest doing the American Standard music. It kept going because they were big sellers. Each phase was characterized by a different style. But his voice has held. I have most of his great early work and I hold it dear. A truly great and original rock star; we will not see or hear another like him.
Check out the version of "I'm Losing You" they did from the same show.
That swagger riff right before “In the Morning” slays me every time
Loving the Flashbacks. This has always been my favorite Rod Stewart song. 😊
I love watching these videos where younger people than I listen to great older songs they never heard before. I also think it would be great to have a channel where older people listened to great newer songs that they never heard of.
Kenny Jones, Ronnie Lane,Ron Wood and Rod... what a band
Ian McLagan on keyboards who went on to be a member in the Stones.
His guitarist Ron Wood went on to play with The Rolling Stones.
The thing is...This song is a cheeky rocker but Rod Stewart and Faces could do serious and even romantic songs like Reason To Believe, First Cut is the Deepest and Every Picture Tells a Story (among others)...they could do it all
My husband and I went to see Faces, when we were dating in High School. This is a great memory, and Rod was close to the #1 player in the World Then.
I knew the “stank face” was gonna come out during the verse.
Rod must have been drunk - he left out half the lyrics of the studio version - *_"with a face like that you got nothing to laugh about" - "I'll give you cab fare home - you can even use my my best cologne - just don't be here in the morning when I wake up."_*
And "Sit down. Get up. Get out!"
It's Rod in the 70s so... probably, lol
Spot on Murray!!!
This was taped early in the development of thi song.
Absolutely must have been the 70s!
Hey , UK to Jamal , do you receive me , over ? !
3 yrs on so doubt you'll ever see this , what the hell ? !
Dude , I watched your reaction at 1.30 - yep , the brother gets it , loud , louder and clearer !
Old fart continues ... I fell in love with this song first time I heard it , bought the single back in 1971
Rod at his very best , ( before he took the totally wrong exit off the freeway ) surrounded by one of THE best , most talented groups around . Sadly Ronnie L & more recently Mac have moved up to that Big Recording Studio in the Sky .
( Imagine the people in there & how that place rocks ! ! )
Fast forward to 2023 , I bought an acoustic g a few months back , teaching myself , stuff I want to learn .
Just got this one off , just the acoustic chords , Woodie created a masterpiece , the beauty of which being how quickly a novice can pick up the basic chords . Not the fills , that I leave to my son oh his electric !
First time I cracked it , cried Big Fat Tears ( of joy) ...
If music touches you as deeply as it touches me , you def don't need too much more out of life .
Merry Christmas dude , if you do that stuff. x
One of their best songs. I love this song always did.
Lets keep this roll going, do "Every Picture Tells a Story" next!
And that was pure rock n roll live, and they were enjoying it. Modern contrived groups...watch and learn.....
This song is completely & unapologetically tongue in cheek.
Rod's "Every Picture Tells A Story" is a must react to.
Love these early RS/Faces songs! Check out "Handbags & Glad Rags" from the Rod Stewart Album. A nice slow one for a little change of pace.
Jamal, you are SO SWEET and you ARE an old soul with a precious heart and great values! It was just a different time back then. I used to be a bartender & I had more than one guy friend tell me, "There's girls you fu*k, then there's girls you marry." All those rock stars found so many of BOTH and I'm sure they still do! We gotta raise our girls to know who they are and what they are WORTH!!
Rod also sang on Jeff Beck's classic Truth album in 1968. "Ain't Superstitious" is a great track to start with, the raw vocals of Rod with Beck's unbelievable guitar...
Yep...
That's Rod.
Let's just say "His reputation preceded him" and it didn't matter a bit.
I like it. Love to see you react to Jeff Beck and Rod doing “I ain’t Superstitious”. Keep bringing on great music Jamel. ✌️
Black cat cross my trail
.. yeah buddy.
Faces came out of the remains of Small Faces, which featured Steve Marriott on vocals (Small Faces was so named because the members were all less than 5'7" tall). Marriott left and formed Humble Pie and the remaining members picked up Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood. They played together from 1969 until 1975, concurrently with Stewart's solo career. After the Faces broke up, Ronnie Wood was picked up by The Rolling Stones, Stewart continued his solo career, Kenney Jones took over the drum kit for The Who after Keith Moon's death, and the other members had modest solo careers on their own.
There's another video from this same show for (I Know) I'm Losing You, which features not only a truly solid overall performance, but a master class from Jones on how to play a drum solo without ever losing the groove. Worth a listen.
One of the greatest rock'n'roll songs ever. Hail!
Hey Jamal, flip this 45 over and play the B side track “Debris”. A real tear jerker about father-son relationships.
Beautiful tune. Ronnie Lane -- what a songwriter!
@@saracody5123 Ronny Lane had a beautiful soul. Sadly missed.
Great song!
correction: this is not Rod Stewart, this is The Faces, the glorious, mighty, raunchy, naughty Faces 😍😅
And Jamel has highlighted exactly where it went wrong for the rest of the group - Rod was the centre of attraction, Mac even stated that they effectively became his backing group - a real shame as people should know just how good the Small Faces were until Marriott left and Stewart & Wood joined, the group renamed as the Faces.
At that point in time. The bassist, Drummer and keyboardist were the biggest names in the band.
They were 75% of the Small Faces. Rod and Ronnie were interlopers.
Jamel have you been to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Their clothes are on display and all these guys were TINY!😱
"Let's go upstairs and read my tarot cards."

Jamel, I think you mean "groupies!!" This was my favorite song from them. The tempo changes, the break downs, etc. Awesome!
Left my favorite line out " yea I'll pay your cabfare home you can even use my best cologne, just don't be here in the morning when I wake up. " sit down get up get out" Loved him, but with the faces and Ronny Wood he was crazy. Thank you for playing.
A song I think you’d like is ‘Isn’t it Time’ by The Babys - check it out
Midnight Rendezvous is another great one by them.
You should actually listen to the studio version. It's better.
Guys back then, would say "what do women see in him" as he always seemed to have one after another beautiful woman on his arm, we saw this! I remember my sister giving me a Rod Stewart haircut, I loved the Small Faces and Faces.
Tony Lewis lead singer and bassist of the band the Outfield died Oct.19,2020 .
songs I would love to hear are "Since You've Been Gone" from the album Bangin,
"My Paradise" and "The Night Aint Over" from the album Voices of Babylon,
"For You" and "One Night in Heaven" from the album Diamond Days.
Ronnie wood too!
This band went through many changes
Try the Faces' "Pool Hall Richard."
Faces were regarded as one of, if not the "most Rock n Roll" band early 70s. They were known for their uneven performances. Mostly because the party would just go straight from hotel, to the dressing room, to the stage. By all accounts they were either incredibly exciting and fun or a complete mess.
Rod Stewart's solo career happened simultaneously as Faces started. He had just signed a solo contract before he was asked to join Faces. Then he started having massive hits with some of his solo singles leading to concert promoters (especially in the US) to bill them as Rod Stewart and the Faces (without the band or Rod's permission). This led to tensions in the band. Ronnie Lane (bassist, singer-songwriter, and arguably "soul" of Faces) saw the writing on the wall and feared a repeat of what had to his first band "Small Faces" (lead singer of that band Steve Marriot left to form "Humble Pie") and left.
This whole concert is great. For sure you should watch in your free time.
They call 'em groupies Jamel, nudge nudge, wink, wink, know what I mean!
You Wear it Well is another great Rod song. Before he went disco.
The guitarist Ron Wood met Rod Stewart on acid and he said HELLO FACE because they look so much alike, hence the band name. When the faces broke up Ron Wood became Rolling Stones guitarist and has been for 40 years
Look at baby Ronnie Wood!!! I love this band I wish they recorded more together. ✌️💗😊
