Totally agree. That is the one we want Jamel to listen to. A great story song and very ahead of its time too. Rod Stewart has a lot of fantastic tunes but The Killing of Georgie always gets me.
I saw Rod Stewart in concert with Santana; HOLY COW! They even did a duet. Stewart is a really nice person also. When our government was trying to cut medical coverage to kids with disabilities he found out that a bunch of Parents were going to DC, with their kids, to testify but they didn't have enough money to get there. He stopped his concert & said, "I'm not a Dem or GOP, I'm a Father, & I'm funding their trip to DC". I cried.
"TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT" "INFATUATION"- Jeff Beck guitar solo. "THE FIRST CUT IS THE DEEPEST" "PASSION" "EVERY PICTURE TELLS A STORY" "You're In My Heart" "Some Guys Have All The Luck" "MY HEART CAN'T TELL YOU NO" "PEOPLE GET READY"- Curtis Mayfield and the Impressions cover w/ Jeff Beck
Dang, didn't know Carmine was the drummer with Stewart. I'd like Jamel to react to VF cover of Diana Ross's song. There was one great version of it on YT where VF was on some talk show; that performance is still up but the version has been tainted with weird visual effects. Jamel's always appreciating a band/performers energy...Never seen anything better than VF doing You Keep Me Hanging On during that show.
My favorite Rod Stewart song. My old ass can remember when it was released. He was married to Alana Hamilton at the time and she is the mystery woman he is groping on the album cover
Rod got a lot of criticism for “going disco” with this song. It ended up being one of his biggest hits. “Reason to Believe” and “You’re in my Heart” are two of my favorites.
A friend of mine invited me to see Rod Stewart in concert last year. I actually was never a big fan of his, but after seeing him in concert... WOW! Great voice and amazing performance! The man was 74 and was still shakin' it on stage! Respect, Rod!!! 😊
Most folks couldn't comprehend the overall coolness of the 70's,.An overall American coolness. Race didn't matter then, or now. Americans, ALL of us still have that coolness!! The coolness comes from us being so different, yet united. It's still true. Thank you Jamal!
Picture it 1978. A seven year little girl and her cousin learns the words to this song. We walk around singing it constantly. Her uncle goes and buys it one Friday after work. We play it the entire weekend. Make a entire routine up to it. To this day I still remember it. That was the year I fell in love with this Man.
“Infatuation” is another good one from Rod’s Disco era. You’ll like it. Also “Passion” is AMAZING! I loved his Disco phase but some didn’t, they called him a sellout but I think it was some of his better music but then I loved to dance and I was a huge Disco fan. Also “Hot Legs” is fabulous too.

As many fans screamed “sell out” when he released this, at the time he made Remix history with this song. First 12”Remix with 16 Track EQ which made this song a SMASH!, Hats off to remixer Jim Burgess for a great job. At the time the remix was highly sought but was only available to Club DJs and radio. Has actually grown on me over the years.
Can’t tell you how many hrs I spent in my bedroom trying out makeup and hairstyles when I was a teenager while this blasted on my portable record player....my poor poor mother! LOL! Lord the things we use to wear in the 70’s and 80’s.
If you like Rod Stewart, check him out with his first band, The Faces, especially their song, "Ooh La La" (and several other classics). Rod re-made that tune solo, too.
I'm getting pretty old (60) but only in body.... My mind is still in my 20's! I LOVED Rod Stewart and yes, we ALL thought he was sexy!! I saw him in concert and he was great, running back and forth on stage, dancing, and sounded great. BTW, when I bought my ticket to see him I paid a whopping $7.00 and had a great seat (told you I was old!). I love both of your channels, keep the videos coming!!
Love Rod! Went and seen him twice in the 80s! What an Awesome Performer! He has so many hits..Some of my faves by him..Young Turks, Tonight I`m Yours, Baby Jane, Some Guys Have All The Luck, Forever Young, My Heart Can`t Tell You No, Love Touch, Infatuation, Rhythm Of My Heart, and Passion.
