Note: I'm pretty sure Smee wasn't just sneaking bites of Hook's food, but was a food taster, testing for poison. Makes sense for Hook's #1 to be such, discourages him using poison on his boss.
Nah, I like to not give Smee that much credit. It would be better to just have it be an ironic thing. Like, Smee is sneaking Hook's food, and Hook just allows it, because he's using Smee as an unknowing poison test.
This nearly brought me to tears! I've always been a fan of Robin Williams and I was devastated at his passing. I also grew up as fan of a Peter Pan. Never listened to the critics about Hook because it was such a beautiful interpretation of the story. Dante Basco added a new level of fantasticness to the story with his portrayal of Rufio that made me emotional every time. This was a wonderful tribute to Hook, to Robin Williams, and beautifully captured the youthful energy of Neverland. Thank you for taking us back to that second star to the right!
Dude having the one true Rufio give his voice to this is amazing. Brought back some really wonderful memories and told a great new story. Thank you guys. That was… magical. Robin would have loved it too.Bang-arang!
the most interesting thing here is Jack, fully believing he is the son of Captain Hook, and the mind set up Smee, to build up a new Captain Hook, for him to serve.
While I like the premise, I always thought this movie stretched its own logic quite a bit, and here that logic is stretched even more. I thought, "Why would Jack even like Hook, let alone want to be his son?" The 1991 film gave him some "daddy issues," but, if anything, you'd think they'd have motivated him to not want a father of any kind! And the "Stockholm syndrome" rationalization never made sense to me either. Victims of Stockholm syndrome usually are sexually attracted to their captors and/or come to sympathize with the captor's ideology and goals. But Jack was never homosexual (and WAY too young for Hook in any case, but never mind!), and Hook was nothing more than a money-grubbing pirate - which, as Jack's grandmother pointed out, was something that Peter Banning himself had become! And in this sequel, the idea of Mr. Smee as a pro-Hook mastermind makes even less sense. As far as I can tell, Smee has always been portrayed as a cowardly sidekick, loyal to Hook only because he's seen what Hook has done to crew members who were not so loyal. And when Jack was Hook's captive, Smee was genuinely friendly to the boy and came off as pretty sympathetic. Finally, during the climactic battle when the tide was turning against the crew of the Jolly Roger, Smee tried to escape as soon as Hook told him to "do something intelligent." Doesn't sound like someone who's eager to be a pirate! Maybe Jack would have turned, but he'd probably be on his own - and if Smee had still been with him, Jack would probably have had as much contempt for him as Hook did.
@@SeasideDetective2 this pitch is as mentioned a "what if", in which Jacks Dad is dead, and he is left alone on the Jolly Roger. I can buy he would become a pirate. If Smee could fashion him into the next Captain Hook, and hold off any other pirates want to be Captain, I dont think so. The stuff in the movie Hook works for the story it wants to tell, its not looking to get bogged down with the science of stockholm syndrome
@@SeasideDetective2 jack would like hook because he seemed to actualy CARE for him he gave him attention and everything. Awesome Fanscription! “Hook” has always been a favorite film of mine, and the concepts of Rufio living, the death of Peter Pan, and rescuing Jack from those who pretend to be his family were great. I appreciate giving Maggie an expanded role as she disappears for most of the original movie (although in deleted scenes she takes care of the Lost Boys Hook had captured). In addition seeing Jack having a villainous turn and being saved by the love of his sister was very heartwarming (great use of both Robin Williams in the reflection and the song “When You’re Alone”). Always a pleasure to hear Dante Basco return to one of his famous roles. Definitely one of my favorite Fanscriptions. 30 years later and I still consider “Hook” an important part of my childhood, and hope it continues its legacy. RIP to the immortal Robin Williams, Bob Hoskins, and Leslie Bricusse (who along with John Williams wrote the songs for “Hook”). 😊

Had the 1991 Hook movie ended the way you put it and we got a part 2 to it that played out like this. I would of been interested in watching it. That and I do enjoy Dante Basco's acting
Seeing how Halloween has a split timeline, I'd like Spielberg to come back (most likely as a producer) and make Rufio movies with Dante Basco; kind of like Spielberg's revisionist take on his own project. Or at least, a younger actor to play Rufio in a trilogy that takes place before Hook; as in, what happened after Basco's short film?
Hook is himself a cunning crocodile the way he taunts Rufio's name. He wanted to die but like a crocodile he will put on a tough fight before facing his death.
That was beautiful! The ending, from Maggie's song onwards, just hit me in the heart. Then the tribute to Robin Williams at the end was the final straw.😢 I'm so glad Dante came on board for this, great work everybody.
Even the part when he dies, I imagine (despite I wasn't too happy with it myself). He does seem like the kind of guy who would play someone passing on a legecy let alone I think he's doing it IRL
While I didn't like how you killed Peter Pan/Banning in the story (I know my six-year old self would have bawled at that moment), I understood why you included it, and how important it was for developing the plot that needed to be told. Every other piece of this retelling/new version seemed exactly right and [if there had been a potential sequel] where it should have gone. You even made one of the more laughable/groan-worthy parts of the movie (both for the kid and adult versions of me), the "When You're Alone" song by Maggie, and turned it into something powerful and imbued it with meaning. Hats off to the writing, concept designers, and actors who lent their voices [especially amazing that you got THE actual Dante Basco in there!] to this cool update to the story!

And Tamara's song in the end was stunning! Wow she was good. I kind of hope that Dante will come back and do more roles for Fanscription. This is all most intriguing. While I'm not a major fan of Hook, I do commend Hoffman, Hoskins, Robin and Basco's performances. And this Fanscription is one of the best I have ever seen. Was anyone else in tears and crying when Maggie sings to Jack and wins him back? I know I was. SO beautiful.
Or, Rufio lives, Pan never dies and goes home with his kids and Rufio stays behind and takes over as leader again since he was still alive. But I really find this fan theory interesting! That is also a very likely outcome.

@@questworldiangreenknight7455 why make Batman evil because he is incorruptible
@@srstriker6420 well I mostly picture he’d turn evil if Robin died and react the way he did when Jason Todd died in the comics, become brutal and then Tim would bring him back to good.
Fun Fact: Anyone can hire Dante Basco to star as Rufio even if you don’t have any money. Or come to think about it, as any character.
I can't see Jack staying evil. He was laughing at pirates when they were losing against lost boys, before Rufio died
Or, Rufio lives, Pan never dies and goes home with his kids and Rufio stays behind and takes over as leader again since he was still alive. But I really find this fan theory interesting! That is also a very likely outcome.
BANGARANG!!!!!!
I’ve never seen Hook but this had some really good writing and amazing talent into this! Jolly good show everyone
This is actually a great story idea
Now I wonder about Littlefoot’s mother not dying?
I like these hypothetical movie ideas. We know they'll never happen so it's really liberating creatively.
Wow! That would had been terrific ideal sequel for a new story
Dang it, Fanscription. You made me tear up.
