Your "Matrix" reaction popped up on my feed. Just watched it before I seen your "momento" reaction. I've been watching PIB a while. Now I'll be watching you too. Thanks for the entertainment.
If Cassie hasn't already found out I have a tidbit for her. One of the lost boys... "Don't Ask" was played by James Madio who played Frank Perconte in Band of Brothers. She'll be so surprised when she sees that again.
This one definitely hits harder as an adult. I miss this age in cinema, when things were magical and fun. Hook is just so pure and sweet and it is so much fun!
You can just tell how much emotion got put into this movie. There is so much good stuff here about family you people can apply to real life. This was clearly created by parents who remembered what it was to be a kid.
It really does. So many years later and I still miss him, and his energy, and just how good and kind of a man he was. I feel like his death was our generation's version of losing someone like Elvis. I still remember where I was and what I was doing when it came on the news. My parents told me that was exactly how it was for them when Elvis and Marylin Monroe's deaths were announced. GNU Robin Williams. (Terry Pratchett's Discworld reference)
For anyone unawares; When Peter gives the sword to Thud Butt it was a complete surprise to all the kids. None of them knew who was going to get the sword and so the reaction he gives is a genuine one.
dammit I can't stop crying when I watch this. When Pockets sees Peter's smile ("...THERE you are, Peter!!"), that always starts the waterworks. And when Peter flies to Jack with "It was YOU!" holy crap. EVERY. TIME. Also Bob Hoskins is an absolute chad.
I've seen Dustin Hoffman in other movies and I think he is so Wholesome and childlike that he could have played the Peter Pan Role as well if Robin wasn't in it.
@goddesssalem4842 That's an interesting take. He's so much more regal as an actor than Hoffman but I can't deny he would be great as Hook as he is in all his films. I feel like DH brought a unique element of humor to Hook that I don't know if AR would have. I could be wrong of course
There are a bunch of surprise famous cameos. The more obvious ones are the police detective in the beginning is Phil Collins, and they obviously noticed Gwyneth Paltrow as young Wendy. Other subtle ones are David Crosby and Jimmy Buffett are pirates and George Lucas and Carrie Fischer are the couple that kiss on the bridge floating up from Tink's fairy dust.
@@cinemeleon2808 Yeah just looked this up and OMG that is Glenn Close. And a LOT of other famous actors/Musicians in random background roles as well. This movie was STACKED.
Ladies, I’m so thrilled to have you watch this treasure of a movie and love it as much as I do! I’m 64 so I originally saw this movie in my 40s, I cried all the way home. It’s a movie that teaches you to remember what it’s like to be a kid, and to treasure the ones around you. That means more to me every year I get older I can’t wait to show this to my granddaughters. They’re just a little too young yet but soon I hate it when people bag on this movie, they must all be pirates!!
Robin Williams was a huge Peter Pan fan. It was his favorite book and he had a vast collection of Peter Pan memorabilia. Rumor has it that when Steven Spielberg called up Robin Williams to offer him the role of Peter Pan, Williams response was "How much do I have to pay you?" Watching this movie you can tell he loved every minute of making it.
That's true, Robin would often do stand-up for him over the phone to cheer him up, so amazing! They became really good friends and I believe at that time Robin did a few uncredited cameos in Spielberg produced films just for fun like "Too Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything Julie Newmar"
That scene with one of the lost boys feeling his face then stretching it into a smile then saying "oh there you are Peter" accompanied by that incredible John Williams score gets me everytime, such a great film that has really grown on me and I love it more with each viewing, so glad it's now finally getting the respect it's always deserved
@chvisk I agree 100% this is a film filled with so many amazing lines, heart tugging as well as heart warming. By the way I think one of the lost boys was in the mini series Band Of Brothers
"All parents need to watch this scene." 1000% agreed, I've always liked that speech she gives him. You only have that one shot to establish a good relationship with your children (or your niblings/godchildren/etc., if that's the case) in those early years. You can try to mend things after that and start fresh, and some people do, but you never get a second chance at those special first few years.
That scene is in my head 24/7. My daughter is turning 16 soon and I can already feel her moving away from mentally and becoming more independent, which is a good thing, but it's actually really tough not being the most important person anymore 🙂
I still can't imagine why this movie was originally so hated. For decades, people dumped on this absolute gem of a film. Glad to see people are finally coming around!
It's like the Star Wars prequels, and the sequels eventually. Initially it's disliked by adults. But as the kids that grew up with it get older and can speak up and defend it, then it gets more praise.
I think it's because a lot of it is overly sentimental, there are a few too many cheesy moments in it that pile on the schmaltz a bit too much, especially towards the end. Having said that, despite its issues, it's still got some amazing performances, set design, score, humour, choreography and memorable moments/lines that in my view allow it to overcome its flaws and cement its status as a cult classic.
There were shout outs to two of Robin’s films. Smee yells out, “GOOD MORNING NEVERLAND!” And at the end Toodles says, “Seize the day!” as he flies away with his marbles
So glad you got to see this! If there was ever a role Robin was destined for... I mean let's just face it: he never failed to bring out the child in all of us. ❤
Hook suicide attempt? Smee says "Oh, not again." Changes the view of Smee's 'Intro Speech' at the start of every morning. Smee's whole job is to keep the Captain from giving up.
There was always something so special and captivating about Maggie Smith as Wendy. From the moment you see her emerge in her home...her eyes and her voice tell a story; even the way she refers to Peter as 'boy' gives me goosebumps. The children's room and other details of her warm and cozy home with the subtle themes of Neverland and Capt Hook always felt magical, adventurous and enchanting. Her home itself was a character and beautiful element of the story that served as a connection and passage to a far off land, making it feel so near. All to say, Maggie and the set design of that house and how it was used and captured are simply brilliant and really brings the story to life for me and can't imagine this movie without them. Your reaction was so sweet and endearing. I thought, Cassie, hug her please and soon for all the rest of us seeing this. ☺🥰🙏🏾
Bob Hoskins was a great actor and great as Smee. Also loved him in Who Framed Roger Rabbit? and Brazil. I used to watch this constantly growing up. The sets looked like so much fun to run around on. McDonald's even had some cool happy meal toys for it to play with in the bathtub.
@@JayPadrig True, he was in Super Mario Bros and I liked him in that too lol. I wasn't listing only high profile lead roles he had though. Roger Rabbit and Brazil are objectively better movies and I thought he was great in them.
“You’re doing it Peter!” “Big fat grandpa man!” - “not so fat to me!” “He’s really did lose his marbles” - “yeah he lost em’ good!” So many great lines from this movie that me and my family have quoted together since I was a kid.
I don't think any actor could make us laugh and make us cry equally as much as Robin Williams. This movie was a favorite as a kid for me but I learned to love it a whole new way after becoming a parent - that "we have a few special years with our children" scene is so powerful. Ladies, if either of you have not seen Good Will Hunting, it is a MUST watch. Robin William's best performance easily, and the one that finally won him a Best Actor award in 1998.
Dead Poet's Society I think is right up there with Robin's best performances. He easily could've if not should've won for that for his first nomination, though Kevin Kline really was great too in Fish Called Wanda that year.
@gregtalley1601 Yeah, that was another one. I tend not to gravitate to that one as much, I think mostly because it's so sad, but due for a rewatch for sure.
@@jayge17It's definitely a heavy ending, though that last classroom scene is so iconic. Oh Captain, my Captain. I've always had a soft spot for DPS because it was filmed near where I live, big news at the time. A guy I grew up with was going to St. Andrew's School in Middletown, DE where it was filmed and was even an extra in the scene in the stairwell at the start of the movie. The day the news came out Robin had died I wanted to watch one of his movies, first thought was DPS and quickly thought better knowing how sad it would be. Watched Aladdin instead.
@gregtalley1601 Yeah, I totally respect that, it would've been tough after the news of his passing. Ironically, I think I watched Hook with my oldest daughter soon after. She was 6. And that was tough too. Also What Dreams May Come, maybe less talked about, but given the subject matter, really hits hard too. I grew up with Aladdin and Hook and Mrs. Doubtfire, and then when I was 19 or 20, saw his stand up comedy, and wow, to go from family and Disney to R rated, it was an experience.
This was the movie that introduced me to Robin Williams. He was practically BORN to play Peter Pan! I could say the same about Hoffman playing Hook. For me, he was the best Hook. Always feels good to take a trip down memory lane. Great childhood memories. ❤
Back in 1991 I thought this was just a fun little kids movie. I enjoyed it, but it didn't really make much of an impression. But as an adult it just hits you on a whole other level. I don't have children, but I can imagine watching this movie as a parent is an entirely different experience. Awesome movie
This is a tearjerker of a movie - Spielberg manipulation at its finest. My daughters were born in 1989 and 1991. The conversation between Moira and Peter where she tells him that the kids won't always want to spend time with him, and he needs to make use of it now, has always stuck with me, and was a focus of my parenting. Now my kids are in their 30s, and they still like to hang out with me. It's a blessing. The scene at Wendy's dinner always chokes me up when the people in the audience stand up one at a time to wave or blow kisses at Granny Wendy.
I'm in my 30s too and I love hanging out with my Dad. We have the type of relationship where we can go weeks without saying a word to each other because LIFE (and also the repetitiveness of daily life isn't really worth talking about) but then we meet up after that period of not talking and then both of us don't shut up for 5 hours. 😂
Charlie Korsmo (Jack) retired from acting young to escape the pressures of Hollywood. He's a professor of law at Yale now. He's also in the ensemble teen party comedy Can't Hardly Wait, with Peter Facinelli (Carlyle Cullen from Twilight) and Seth Green.
@@tmatthewnielsenyes, What About Bob was a great comedy that flew under the radar unfortunately. It wasn’t a big movie like other Bill Murray movies are like Ghostbusters and Groundhog Day were
@nsasupporter7557 when I hear "What About Bob" the first thing I think of is the scene when Bill and Richard are driving after the hospital and Richard loses it and tells him to get out of the car but he can't even annunciate so it just sounds like "GET OUTTAAH$#!HAH$!%$AA!" 🤣😂
So glad you both mentioned the score so much! I think that this is one of John Williams most underrated works. I actually once got to hear it played live with John Williams conducting and it was amazing.
I love the score too. There was a double CD release of it a few years ago which restored the shortened versions of the movie soundtrack, added in tracks (like the end credits) which were not on the original CD release and some alternative tracks. It was a very limited release, I think only 5000 copies were made. I got lucky and managed to pick it up before it sold out.
There was a good live-action version of the Peter Pan story in 2003 with the guy who played Lucius Malfoy (Jason Isaacs) as Hook. It makes a great double feature with this one.
Bawled my eyes out watching you watch it for your first time. I’m a 37 year old father of five and I am so guilty of being an “absent” father who forgets to be playful! My favorite movie ever!
Such a great collab!! I watch Cassie too. Hook really hits our hearts with magic and childhood wonder!!! And the score by John Williams....come on!!! NEVER GROW OLD, guys!!
I’ve watched this film in my twenties, thirties, forties and now I’m 50. It just gets better as you experience more life. RIP Robin Williams, he left a ton of work from the early eighties to when he passed to enjoy. I would like to see y’all react to more. Awesome reaction.
Oh, thank you SO much for reacting to this movie. I ADORE this movie. It used to be my favorite movie for a while as a child. It does not get the respect and recognition it deserves. It is SO magical, the performances are incredible. One of John Williams' best scores if not THE best. Literally the only criticism I have for it is that some of the sets really look like stage play sets. 😅 They could have put a little more effort into making it look other-worldly. But other than that, I love rewatching it every time. And I cry, EVERY time... This is one of my what I call "soul detector" movies. If you really genuinely hate this movie... You have no soul.... imo.....
29:17 The kid who asks “What’s a paramecium?” worked with Spielberg again as Frank Perconte in Band of Brothers. I’d love for you to watch BoB because it’s extraordinary, but it’s not an easy watch, so you may want to wait until you’re less emotionally raw.
My Mom took me to see this back in the day. She passed recently. Nostalgia doesn't even begin to cover how I feel about this movie. I bought the soundtrack because it is so awesome. Thank you for reacting to this awesome film! Love you Mom!
I watched this movie all the time as a child. It was one of my favorites alongside the first Land Before Time. It was a treat seeing your reaction to this timeless classic. Robin Williams is one of my all time favorite actors. He always had a special place in my heart as a person who struggles with major depression. He had his struggles as well, and always wanted to make others smile because he knew how awful it felt to live with that kind of sadness.
Smee was the talented Bob Hoskins of Mermaids with Cher. Roger Rabbit etc. Also the pirate who was sent to the boo box early on was Glen Close, and the pirate who got hit with the floor board between the legs was David Crosby of Crosby, Stills and Nash. Bob also did another movie called Unleashed and his co star was the young actor who played Ruffio.
Critics bagged on this movie hard, but they just needed a hug from their mom/dad. This is one of those films that the "as a parent" thing kicks in super hard. it's fun as a kid, but as an adult and a parent the dust-in-the-eye is just constant!
"you know that place between sleep and awake, that place where you still remember dreaming, thats where ill always love you" , sweetest, saddest line ever
It's really worth rewatching older movies. Our perspectives as adults, experiences, and understanding things we definitely missed stands out so much when you do. Btw Hugs from BC, Canada - life can feel really heavy & hard. Hope things get easier for you. 😊
I don't care what anyone says, hook is the best movie ever made. Robin absolutely threw his whole self into this role. Dustin Hoffman was nearly unrecognizable as hook. Bob hoshkins killed it as smee. The music was stunning, the sets and details were beyond amazing. But really what sells this movie is the performances the kids give.
About 10 years ago, I was working at a kid's program and we did a summer outdoor movie night and I put on Hook (think huge, inflatable outdoor movie screen). It was always a favorite of mine and I was happy to share it with 100+ kids, much to their delight. Sadly, Robin would pass a few weeks later and in all the sadness, I was just tremendously happy that I had gotten to share him with another generation.
All the feels. Having someone as childishly sweet and pure as Cassie and someone as curious and fun as you react to Hook is magical. Robin Williams will forever be Peter Pan to me, it's the movie next to Mrs Doubtfire I most remember him for. You lost girls did a great reaction. This movie holds a very special place in the treasure chest of my memories.
You should watch him with Halie Berry in Being Human a half a dozen vignettes where he portrays different people in diverse circumstances throughthe ages, What Dreams May Come as a bereaved man trying to rescue a loved one, Bicentennial Man as an android, Birdcage a hilarious drag show and Final Cut where he creates epitaphs that make survivors feel better about their lost loved ones.
I know how hard it can be to deal with that kind of pain, and I hope the sadness from losing your dog eases soon. Also, it was nice to see you with Cassie for this reaction, since I’m a big fan of both of your channels.
This was the first thing I ever saw Maggie Smith in. And now I wonder if they aged her up in this. I was obsessed with the soundtrack, and actually this movie spurred me into actually reading Peter Pan. Also, I heard somewhere that Jimmy Buffet played one of the pirates who tried to mug Peter.
David Crosby was the pirate that got the board between the legs. Buffett was one of the pirates steeling Peters shoes. Also, Glenn Close, and boxer Tony Burton play pirates, while George Lucas and Carrie Fisher play "Man and Woman Kissing on Bridge."
THIS IS THE CROSSOVER THE WORLD SHOULD BE TALKING ABOUT!!!! Two of my favorite UA-camrs working together!!!! If only Addie Counts was here, then the TRINITY of Tubers would be assembled!!!
Watching this again after so many years made me remember the joy of Peter Pan & no one could have captured the essence of Peter Pan any better than Robin. RIP.
LOVE the reaction ! Your video brought tears to my eyes ! It felt like being with you guys ! Your feedback at the end captures the essence of the wonder, empathy, and hope that stories can bring us. Thank you for the reminder! Sending you big hugs from Paris, France
I love this movie, and I saw it the first time with my now passed on father on Christmas vacation as a kid. He wasn’t into it, but hey. Ever since this is a Christmas watch for me. RIP Robin.
Man oh man you two made me wanna cry. This was an AMAZING reaction and I love you both. It honestly feels like i'm watching this with two friends. This movie is just timeless.
This was lovely. I love that you can know where the story will go, and still be totally engrossed with how it plays out. Every great adventure is about the journey.
I want to thank you for watching Hook. This is truly my absolute favorite Peter Pan film hands and hook down. I’ve actually been involved in two productions of Peter Pan. The first one was a version that we had wrote based on the book, and I was Smee in that one. The second production I did was the actual Broadway production, and I was one of the pirates. Here are some fun facts; The voice of the pilot on the plane is actually Dustin Hoffman, which is ironic since he is Captain Hook. Also the moment that Peter chooses Thud Butt as his successor, the reactions on the Lost Boys are genuine. Spielberg and Robin Williams knew who would get the sword and kept quiet about it. So none of the Lost Boys ever knew who would be the successor. At the 25th anniversary, Dante Bosco (Rufio) as well as the other Lost Boys squeezed back into their costumes and honored Robin Williams, since he was not there to share a happy moment with them. RIP Robin Williams. 🧚✨🏴☠️🕰🐊⚔️💚💛💙❤️
Some few funny facts: Julia Roberts were so difficult to work with, the crew called her Stinkerbell The mannerism and behavior of Tinkerbell was inspired by Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) who actually came up with Tinks last line (You know that place between dream and awake...) Carrie Fisher is actually the woman in the couple that begins flying on the London bridge. The man is George Lucas The detective is Phil Collins and the pirate who is thrown in the boo-box is Glenn Close.
Oh gosh this was so special!!! For one thing Cassie and her channel are so special to us, we've watched her since the very beginning. To see you two together was just the best thing ever. And now to see this movie again (after growing up a lot more!!) is just so great. Kai thank you for bearing your heart. Pushing love and happy thoughts to you!! Love you and your channel and looking forward to more of your content!!! ❤
This was my favorite movie as a child. And I always cry when Peter remembers his past and finds his happy thought. As a child it instilled in me the dream of being a father myself. And this next year Im finally going to realize that dream as my child will be born in May. Loved the reaction guys thanks for making me cry with you both lol.
This movie will always make me cry all throughout. But the end is what always is the worst. Tootles has been searching for his marbles, and when he finally gets them back he can die happy. I'm 34 and it still destroys me.
this movie always makes me cry sentimentally. it always brings me back to how i used to think when i was young. and that i want to have youthful play in all things, but cant anymore but should
This movie will always be special to me not only because it’s so good but because I first saw this with my family at the drive-in theater the night my youngest sister was born. My mom went into labor not even an hour after we got back home.
This is the best reaction you've had. I got teary remembering the magic of this movie, watching you get teary and remembering the miraculous Robin Williams who is truly in Neverland and our hearts and minds forever. P.S I got choked up writing that last part. Lol
I was with Cassie on this - those scenes scared me as a kid but then as a young adult watched again and fell in love! What a wonderful first time reaction vid
That was a huge moment for Dustin Hoffman, as up until then he was known for serious character movies like ''Rainman'' and ''Crammer against Crammer,'' so when people heard he was cast as Hook, they were like: ''Dustin Hoffman? Really???'' But he just blew our minds! We could hardly believe what we were seeing!
This film holds a special place in my heart. I saw it when I was a kid, and the love for it has not gone away. I'm glad it's getting new appreciation and recognition from new audiences, especially since Robin Williams passed away. It definitely hits harder because of that. Anyway, I enjoyed your reaction. I hope you see better days ahead of you.
Just a comment about Maggie Smith "always being old:" Just you watch her films from the 60s and early 70s -- The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, or her Desdemona opposite Laurence Olivier's Othello. She was heartbreakingly beautiful, and such a talent! I had the great pleasure of seeing her live on stage when she was in her 30s (Stratford, Ontario: As You Like It, Antony & Cleopatra, Private Lives), and she was amazing. By sheer chance, she walked into a hotel lobby while I was there, and was about six feet from me, talking to the desk clerk. I nearly fainted.
That kinda reminds me of other actors that I'm so used to seeing old so I've been trying to go back in some of their filmographies, one in particular was Peter Boyle, most people know him as being the father in "Everybody Loves Raymond", I watched some of his more early roles like "The Friends Of Eddie Coyle" which he was great in, I couldnt believe he still had that same shiny head back then, you can use it as a spotlight if you shined a light on it 😂 🤣 anyways haha I definitely need to see some original Maggie Smith roles as well, I believe I mightve seen that adaptation of Othello but I can't remember, its been a long time
By far, my favorite John Williams score and probably my favorite movie score of all time. Nearly every cue hits absolutely perfect and is so emotional. This movie gets the tears rolling out of me EVERY...SINGLE...DAMN...TIME!
Isn’t it funny how some people make you feel safe enough to be vulnerable? Cassie, am I right? I shed a tear or two with you feeling your feelings. Never shy away from it. It is transformative. I had fun. Thanks.
Great reaction! 💖 I was crying along with you! By the way, the pirate getting stuck in the barrel with the scorpions is no other than Glenn Close (Fatal Attraction, Cruella Devil). It's one of the greatest cameo hidden-in-plain-sight of all time and I never realized it until someone pointed it out to me, although I had seen the movie many times by then.
so glad you said that about the kid touching his face, saying there you are peter. that it was so sweet. for some reason. rewatching this as an adult. that scene makes me emotional
I agree with the sentiments that this one REALLY hits hard as an adult...in the best possible way. It's a magical film and everyone should watch it at various stages in their life.
You both captured the roller coaster of emotions I get from this movie so well. I was thrilled by both of your reactions. I adore this movie for so many reasons but Dustin and Robin are irreplaceable as these two. Smee is brilliantly played by the late Bob Hoskins who played Eddie Valient in Who Framed Roger Rabbit. The musical scores by Williams are epic and just get your blood pumping with emotion and excitement. Thank you both. Hook is the main character as Dustin plays it as it is Hook who brings Peter back and forces him to become The Pan. Cassie I wish we could see your family dressed as all these characters. That would be so sweet.
Yes! I know it, but till this day I don't recognize her. Everytime I watch the scène, I know it is her, but am like: "no, that is just a random pirate". 😅
This movie has been a staple of my "re-watch whenever you want a comfort movie" collection for many years since the 90s when I first saw it on VHS at a school camp. Since then A Knight's Tale joined it along with Real Steel. All of them do make me miss my late father though...
maggie smith is born 1934 and 88 right now. she acted in hook at the age of 57. she hasnt aged a day since XD this woman is super strong. she made HP with cancer and much sickness and still performed awesome.
I saw this in theatres when I was 9 with my brother and parents. The theatre we saw it in has been closed for many many years now.. but I can still picture that evening. The theatre was really unique in the fact that it was in our big downtown mall.. and it was in the basement!! You'd enter the mall and then take an escalator down into the basement. It was a more old school, vintage style theatre and really had a certain "magic" to it. And of course it came out at Christmas time and in the early 90s cities still decorated for Christmas to the absolute 9s.. so even walking from where we parked the car to the mall entrance there were Christmas displays in all the windows, all the street signs and posts were lit up with decorations and lights and a real magic filled the air (something you just don't see anymore).. the concession in the theatre was the first thing you'd see as you went down the escalator (the ticket booth was at the top).. and it just had such a classic theatre feel to it all. I remember getting popcorn and drinks.. and then watching the movie it was amazing.. me and my brother couldn't stop talking about it.. and absolutely fell in love with it. This memory is just 100% burnt into my brain. I love watching this movie every Christmas and being able to re-live this feeling.. it makes me feel so warm and cozy and full of Christmas magic 🥰
@@kaiielle Especially now that my mom is gone.. this memory is really special to me. And that's interesting. I'm from Saskatchewan.. and not that I've been to a lot of other older theatres in Canada but this is the only one I've ever seen that was in the basement. I love it though and am glad there were more!! I love how impressive and awesome new theatres are.. but they don't have the same magic as a classic, vintage style theatre. My mom and dad's first date was going to see Star Wars in 1977 at an even more vintage, classic theatre. That same night the movie theatre caught fire and burnt to the ground. My dad always says that the date with my mom was so hot it accidentally burnt the theatre down 🤣
What a wonderful reaction. Thank you so much for sharing. This is my favorite Robin Williams movie. I watched it the morning I heard he'd passed... It makes the last line so much more meaningful. "To live. To live would be an awfully big adventure." Take care of yourselves, everyone.

Bangarang!!
The line at the end, "Oh, no. To live will be an awfully big adventure." hit's really hard now.
doesn't it??
For anyone unawares; When Peter gives the sword to Thud Butt it was a complete surprise to all the kids. None of them knew who was going to get the sword and so the reaction he gives is a genuine one.
dammit I can't stop crying when I watch this. When Pockets sees Peter's smile ("...THERE you are, Peter!!"), that always starts the waterworks. And when Peter flies to Jack with "It was YOU!" holy crap. EVERY. TIME. Also Bob Hoskins is an absolute chad.
Because it's a lovely scene! And the soundtrack did a lot of work too.
@@kidrasan The one that always gets me is:
"Hello, boy."
"Hello, Wendy lady."
Absolutely NO ONE could have played Hook as well as Dustin Hoffman!
have you seen Mary Martin's Peter Pan from 1960? Whoever that guy is that plays Captain Hook is at least tied for best Hook w/ Hoffman.
I've seen Dustin Hoffman in other movies and I think he is so Wholesome and childlike that he could have played the Peter Pan Role as well if Robin wasn't in it.
Hello Children! Comfy? Coozyy?
I think Alan Rickman could of play an amazing hook
@goddesssalem4842 That's an interesting take. He's so much more regal as an actor than Hoffman but I can't deny he would be great as Hook as he is in all his films. I feel like DH brought a unique element of humor to Hook that I don't know if AR would have. I could be wrong of course
The pirate that gets put in the boo box is Oscar nominee Glenn Close. She's unrecognizable.
HOLY SMOKES!!!! 😳😳
Dustin Hoffman's daughter is in the school play
I seem to recall noting as a kid what a high pitched voice "he" had, but totally didn't catch on. lol
Yes this and mrs doubtfire above all that he knew would make people happy and he really enjoyed he knew what talent he had to entertain us
When Stephen Spielberg was making Schindlers List. He called Robin Williams.
That's true, Robin would often do stand-up for him over the phone to cheer him up, so amazing! They became really good friends and I believe at that time Robin did a few uncredited cameos in Spielberg produced films just for fun like "Too Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything Julie Newmar"
@@robertjacques4117 he did similar for Christopher Reeve when he was in the hospital after his accident, Robin was the best!
@@robertjacques4117yes, Robin Williams and Jim Carrey are the best comedians of all time
"Oh there you are Peter.." and the music after will never NOT make me sob.
I feel the same about "you are the pan." Such great music in this one.
"I wish I had a dad...like you."
That music really does que the happy tears
@@alexharms9145- John Williams is a Genius. Nothing less...
@@gregtalley1601Zuko: "Yeah. Me too."
"You promised to never grow old" gets me every time. The betrayal.
@chvisk I agree 100% this is a film filled with so many amazing lines, heart tugging as well as heart warming. By the way I think one of the lost boys was in the mini series Band Of Brothers
I remember just bursting into tears as a seven-year-old when the music went up. I was fine on Pockets' line, but the music just broke me that day.
As an adult, the interactions between Hook and Smee are my favorite parts of the movie😂
😮 Whoever did such 'dumping' is derned lucky they didn't do it where I could hear. Saw it in the theater, and it was love at first sight.
I remember watching this in theaters when I was 10. Nothing about it is overrated.
It was dumped on (at least by one of my friends) because it went against Peter Pan never growing up.
There were shout outs to two of Robin’s films. Smee yells out, “GOOD MORNING NEVERLAND!” And at the end Toodles says, “Seize the day!” as he flies away with his marbles
A case could be made that the scene where all the orphans stand is also a reference to Dead Poet Society.
"Don't try to stop me Smee...Try to stop me Smee"
Hoffmann and Hoskins had such amazing chemistry and timing together.
That is the real apostrophe.
@@LordVolkovThey played it like an old married couple, and it's so great.
I think they described it as realising Hook and Smee were an elderly gay couple, so that's how they played it.
@@brainofwombat not at all.
I feel Bob really did steal the scenes he was in.
I like how you mention BRAZIL 😮 and not Mario Brothers… in fairness he has about a big of a part in that as Robert DeNiro! 😅
I wonder if Cass thought he looked familiar since she saw Enemy at the Gates and in it Hoskins played Nikita Khrushchev.
I watched Hook and Roger Rabbit repeatedly as a kid. I can't believe I never realized that was Bob Hoskins until now.
@@JayPadrig True, he was in Super Mario Bros and I liked him in that too lol. I wasn't listing only high profile lead roles he had though. Roger Rabbit and Brazil are objectively better movies and I thought he was great in them.
This movie, this score, this actor (Robin Williams) shaped my childhood. I cant ever get trhough it with a dry eye.
“You’re doing it Peter!”
“Big fat grandpa man!” - “not so fat to me!”
“He’s really did lose his marbles” - “yeah he lost em’ good!”
So many great lines from this movie that me and my family have quoted together since I was a kid.
When she talked out when "Robin Williams Passed" instantly teared up just thinking about Robin being gone. Love this movie.
Right! He was the only celebrity death that really affected me… him and Sean Connery. I was devastated when he passed away too
10 years ago in 2024. If feels like yesterday
@@jayge17he was the celebrity death that hit me the hardest… so far, anyway. Him and Sean Connery
They made a video game from it for Super Nintendo… it was actually a very fun game
@@nsasupporter7557 It was great, the arcade game based on the movie was also very good, it was a different game from the home console versions.
Can you believe that critics absolutely hated this movie and savaged it? i saw it in the theater as a kid. Loved it.
Charlie Korsmo (Jack) retired from acting young to escape the pressures of Hollywood. He's a professor of law at Yale now.
He's also in the ensemble teen party comedy Can't Hardly Wait, with Peter Facinelli (Carlyle Cullen from Twilight) and Seth Green.
i'm waiting for the day that someone reacts to Cant Hardly Wait
Man, I haven't seen Can't Hardly Wait in probably over 15 years. Great fun movie.
He was also in "What About Bob?" a great movie starring Bill Murray and directed by Frank Oz.
That one goes some places that just hit different as an adult. This one, does, too. Both such wonderful and shattering films.
This reaction was so sweet, I almost cried at the end. Amazing to see how much it touched you and I relate
This movie hits you in the feels in all the right ways.
This is one of my favorite Robin William films and every time I watch it I end up crying.
Thanks for watching with us!
Bawled my eyes out watching you watch it for your first time. I’m a 37 year old father of five and I am so guilty of being an “absent” father who forgets to be playful! My favorite movie ever!
To this day, when everyone stands for Wendy, it always gets me teary.
They could have put a little more effort into making it look other-worldly.
But other than that, I love rewatching it every time. And I cry, EVERY time...
This is one of my what I call "soul detector" movies.
If you really genuinely hate this movie... You have no soul.... imo.....

I was born in 1991 so this is such a throwback to my childhood, Robin Williams is magical and Spielberg makes it epic🔥

This is such a great reaction. I cried. it's such a moving film and this is one of John Williams' best soundtracks.
This is an incredible classic that doesn't get enough love
"you know that place between sleep and awake, that place where you still remember dreaming, thats where ill always love you" , sweetest, saddest line ever
It's really worth rewatching older movies.
Our perspectives as adults, experiences, and understanding things we definitely missed stands out so much when you do.
Btw Hugs from BC, Canada - life can feel really heavy & hard. Hope things get easier for you. 😊
The struggle to compose yourself after the credits roll is so real. I love this movie so much, it’s so special.
I saw this in theaters when I was 8. My little chubby self, loved the imagining a banquet scene.
My little brother watched this movie at least two times a day. He wore out the VHS tape from watching it so much. Still love it though.☺
Tony Burton of "Rocky" fame.
Considering the Lady was 57 years old at time, aging makeup was probably involved.

It's definitely on the up-and-up. Thank you ❤
One of my favourite childhood films. So briliantly made, so much love put into this movie. And a great performance by Robin Williams.

Don’t know if anyone has mentioned this but the pirate that made the boo boo @16:00 is Glenn Close!
Some few funny facts:
Julia Roberts were so difficult to work with, the crew called her Stinkerbell
The mannerism and behavior of Tinkerbell was inspired by Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) who actually came up with Tinks last line (You know that place between dream and awake...)
Carrie Fisher is actually the woman in the couple that begins flying on the London bridge. The man is George Lucas
The detective is Phil Collins and the pirate who is thrown in the boo-box is Glenn Close.
Jimmy Buffett was one of the pirates as well. Spielberg stuffed a lot of cameos into this one.
I love that the movies picked were Memento and Hook, because they're two of my favorites.
Oh gosh this was so special!!! For one thing Cassie and her channel are so special to us, we've watched her since the very beginning. To see you two together was just the best thing ever.
P.S
I got choked up writing that last part. Lol
The couple that floated in the air when Tinkerbell was taking Peter to neverland was George Lucas and Carrie Fisher.
Oh yeah, I had heard that but I forgot about it
I was with Cassie on this - those scenes scared me as a kid but then as a young adult watched again and fell in love!
I really want to watch some of her older films one day from when she was young!
Well also they did make her look older for this movie than she actually was@@kaiielle

@@SJHFoto Wellll, when I first saw 'em, they weren't so old...
Smee was Bob Hoskins, he also was in Who Framed Roger Rabbit and he played Mario in the original Super Mario Bros. movie.
This is my first time watching one of your reactions and you’ve got me hooked. I loved how emotional you got and weren’t afraid to show it ❤
Another cameo in the movie is actress Glen Close as the pirate Hook puts in the Boo Box !
All of them do make me miss my late father though...

this woman is super strong. she made HP with cancer and much sickness and still performed awesome.
Ohhhh. Uhhh. Not good timing mate.
So fun, what a great memory! I feel like Canada has had a lot of basement movie theaters across the country. (Fellow Canadian here!)
My dad always says that the date with my mom was so hot it accidentally burnt the theatre down 🤣
Maggie smith looks the same in sister act, hook, harry potter, she got to a certain age and just stopped aging.
I'm convinced that's what happened!
For real. Lol. Hope she got to be young in her early career at least.
What a wonderful reaction. Thank you so much for sharing. This is my favorite Robin Williams movie. I watched it the morning I heard he'd passed... It makes the last line so much more meaningful.
"To live. To live would be an awfully big adventure."
Take care of yourselves, everyone.
Awesome reaction ladies!! Growing up with this movie as a kid was great. Of course saw it many times on replay and the reactions were just wonderful and heart warming .
