    That Smolik head looks like a beefed up clone of a Yamaha DT100 cylinder head from the 70's. It is a great design.

    Switching to a B7HS plug should make the engine run cooler, especially thinking as you run a high performance cylinder. I even use B8HS for my 60cc moped as it runs very hot. It is safer running colder than hotter, but it might make it a little bit harder to start.

    • @LAHover
      @LAHover  2 роки тому

      Carb leaks are normally caused by a bit of junk in the carb that blocks the fuel valve from closing all the way. A quick cleaning usually does the trick. Sometimes a few taps on the bowl with a screwdriver will get you by.
      This is assuming the carb is not tilted at an extreme angle.

    This video is literally coming out at a PERFECT time for me! As I’m currently just looking into different wheel sets for motorized bikes. This is mainly because my current rear wheel has a quick release skewer to mount/ dismount the wheel on the frame. It does have a disc break hub so I was able to make a SOLID sprocket mount with it so I do definitely want to use it on my bike for more reliability than a clamp on adapter or rag joint. However, my main concern is that I literally have just that thin little tiny rod that’s holding all that weight and vibration. This is probably why I haven’t yet seen a single one of your bikes with a quick release but I still would really appreciate your input here. Do you think a quick release is a cause of MAJOR! concern on a motorized bike? or can it be left alone until you figure something else out? I do know it’s definitely not something to use for the long term but for now I’m not too sure what else to do, as I don’t think I can use a thru axle on a quick release wheel nor can I thread a bolt on axle through it as a quick release skewer has a much smaller thickness than a bolt on axle. Other than buying a Gemini wheel I’m not sure what else I could do. Any and all input you have on this would be MUCH! appreciated. Thanks so much!

    • @LAHover
      @LAHover  2 роки тому +5

      Should be fine for low speed cruising but you can grab a solid axle on eBay or Amazon to replace it with.
      Thanks for watching!

    • @mrbanana7167
      @mrbanana7167 2 роки тому +2

      As far as I'm aware it's not the skewer actually holding the weight- it's just holding it in place and the hollow axle is supporting all the weight
      You can get a fully threaded solid axle from probably any bike shop, online or even just a different wheel that you don't care too much about(it just has to be completely straight (because bearing adjustment with a bent axle is literally impossible to get perfect) and have good threads, just that you'll need to adjust the cup and cone bearings yourself in each of these cases, which can be a pain

    #1 An air scoop for your cylinder head, to help cool it would be pretty easy to build.....
    #2 The Gemini wheels look high quality (some oval spoke washers for the rear wheel would help make them even stronger)
    #3 I'd love a 26in steel, full suspension frame similar to a motoped with those Gemini wheels for a build .
    #4 After paying $75 for the larger "Nasty Jack" expansion pipe, I wish I would have bought the smaller $45 ex. pipe instead. One $45 pipe I seen did have a smaller header tube ID & belly but much better welds & no kinks or obstructions in the header tube bends for better flow & it's probably also lighter. The other $45 chrome pipes had kinks in header bends & worse welds. The $75 "Nasty Jack" pipe does have a larger header ID (& larger belly) but is all crooked, poor welds, with obstructions inside that won't help flow. Plus it's on the heavy side, I'm gonna have to bend the piss out of it to make it fit & hope it works. VS $45 pipe, that I might also have to bend but would have more clearance around the gas tank. In hindsight, not all the $45 expansion pipes are the same but I really wish I would have bought the black one with good welds & no kinks in the header.

      What is thier to get upset about . Great video LA Hover did , did I miss something , it showed all my performances products... performing well. Don't you think , he's has my PowerStorm system , my SAF Super Clutch keeping the power to the wheel and my performances cylinder pulling hard , LA hasn't even fully tried it out . Not even opened up the throttle lol

      If we are being honest, you don't take ideas and criticism very humbly. It does seem you are getting better talking about it so, that's good. Competition can and should be friendly. When there's drama in the group, it gets around quick in this small and growing community. You do great work, and know your sh@t, but you don't like to hear any other ways of doing things. Stick to what you do, and stand by it, and make your money. Just like autos, there's lots of options, but it doesn't always have to be a competition. Proof is in the 2-stroke pudding.

      @@darcyhemeon4309 that's definitely not good. When I had my CB shops, the competition was TOUGH, but I had to realize, arguing with those people only drove customers away. Keep up the good work, keep it honest, ignore the idiots, and people will respect you a lot more. You're doing great stuff. Happiness is is the key to life. We only get one chance at it!

      Although I may not be fully convinced that the g2 setup is optimized, I will not deny that Darcy's products (pay for from my own wallet) are strong performers.
      The work is clean and priced fairly IMO.
      He has provided helpful information, and been understanding when I make rookie mistakes.
      When I point out areas I feel could be improved he listens and/or provides feedback. A good example of this is that his clutches now have stronger bucking bars. :)

    Minareu makes an insulator thst goes in between the carb and intake if hest is an issue. I guarantee he is not an issue using an insulator and intake leaks are pretty much non existing. You are using a vm18 . What pilot jet are you using?

      @@kjsmolik When cold it idles fine, when hot it just dies (I do adjust everything when the motor is hot). I have had good luck finding the right pilots and adjust the air screw on every other bike. but this one always dies. I'll have an update when I replace the bottom end, I honestly think this one is bunk. It's been rebuilt, re sealed, and had many different top end set ups. always the same. Just an unlucky bottom I think.

      @@LAHover you are using a vm18. The stock pilot almost never works. We use a 22.5 pilot. Sometimes a 20. Sounds like you need to change the pilot. If it had an air leak when hot it would idle high. When cold it needs more fuel for start hence why it idles ok when cold. Then once it warms up its to rich. Put in a 22.5, af screw out 1.5 turns then go from there.
