Yes, on an automotive carb its called " idle tip in " and that is why automobile carbs have " accelerator pumps " ( little squirt of fuel when the throttle is opened ) a carb that is too big for the motor indeed leaves a huge problem with throttle response. You are close in tuning with the heat tempter gun, Look at some videos on RC racer motor tuning using the tempter gun. They measure the heat of the head and exhaust. The tip I can give you is, A lean motor will be a hotter temp. then a rich temp. It will swing about 5deg. in temp. I can not tell you what a ball park temp should be. Conditions such as outside air temp. can threw off readings. So try this. Start the motor and run it around the block for 5 min. Read the head temp. right next to the spark plug. also one reading on the exhaust as it leaves the cylinder. You now have a base line to work with. Next make your adjustment. Remember the leaner it gets the hotter the head and exhaust will be. Lowering the temp. just 2deg. will get you to a safe setting. Good luck my friend.
I will have e to say if you get an aluminum cylinder like an Athena, Airsol or stage 6 they are much more forgiving . You don't have the cold seize issues.
I agree, I like fast, power on demand for getting out of its own way. I myself had a bad crash about a month and half ago and at 40mph is no joke. A needle taper has various pitches and where the transition from pilot jet to needle happens, it may be slightly too lean, and as the needle rises, the taper becomes more optimal for the a/f ratio. My 98 cr125 after modification needed a different needle pitch for the same reason. Stock, the pilot to needle transition was good, the mid was too rich, then it transitioned to a properly sized main jet. With a new needle, once warmed up, the jetting was spot on. I only changed the clip position below 68 and above 85 degrees f
Also when someone says balanced crank they are balanced for a certain rpm. There is no crank that is perfectly balanced crank for all rpm. It can come close with a custom crank but otherwise there will always be a balanced crank thst will vibrate at certain rpms.
Good to know, thanks. The crank on my first hybrid motor is one I balanced, and it feels nice and smooth in the rpm ranges that I run it. This one just feels off when it climbs into higher RPMs.
Heat isn't normally an issue for the intake. Gas naturally cools and mixed wirh air it cools alot better then most think. Unless you absolutely overheat the engine intake heat isn't a problem. There is also intake insulators that will seperate the intake from the cylinder that will help if heat is an issue.

You mentioned about paying the price for a so called “performance head”? Don’t waste your money, do your research. There is nothing on one of the heavy, over priced chunks of aluminum that will get you performance, bottom line. They are heavier, fins are thicker so therefore they hold more heat than disperse. Really, do some research and save your money and spend it on something useful like better rims or tires. I like this video, first one I watched, because of your honesty. I’m sure nobody will offer you a product for product review. They wouldn’t like the negative opinion they would get. But this is exactly what consumers need to hear, and listen to. I’ve spent a good deal of loot on these things and I’ve learned from trial and error. I am the mechanic everyone that has a motorized bike comes to that knows me. That’s one more thing, if you aren’t mechanically inclined, don’t jump feet first into a build without having proper knowledge available. It’s not a matter of if it breaks, it’s a matter of WHEN it breaks. Thanks for the video.
You wont have any of those wheel issues on mags, the confidence in having a sealed bearing in your 40mph+ bike wheels is unmatched. I like the look of wired wheels but my best experience has been with mags
I think the loss in power you're feeling is just your releasing the clutch and that will make the rpm drop so you need to give more gas when letting off the clutch

the statement about not caring to be in a crash on a motorized bike at or near 40 mph goes for cars and trucks too at 40 mph the drivers of cars and trucks generally sustain injuries that require hospitalization for at least a few hours sometimes for days with life altering injuries and death depending on what part of the vehicle the hit
Hey I got a chinadoll you recommended about a week ago, theres a visible gap between the cylinder head and jug, so I'm going to lap and sand it down, any advice?
I have one of these motors and I tell you what I got it up to 51 km and hour and I hold it for a couple seconds and left go as my turn was coming up almost crashed but 51 damm where I live if it goes faster and maintain speed just like a car you need a license and that bs
Although a two stroke can run decent without a tuned pipe, they won't make nearly as much power without one. So putting a anything else on it would just be for show/sound.

Delayed, they are putting heavy duty needle bearings in, and adding a different head for better cooling.
Thanks for the video.
smolik head is good
I dnt know I think the anbull 50 mm piston engine is rite there with the phantom "52"piston it's a 51 mm point something
You wont have any of those wheel issues on mags, the confidence in having a sealed bearing in your 40mph+ bike wheels is unmatched. I like the look of wired wheels but my best experience has been with mags
What's the oil/gas ratio. Try lucas semi synthetic and premium gas. Keeps the predetonation down and helps with the vibration.
32:1
I think the loss in power you're feeling is just your releasing the clutch and that will make the rpm drop so you need to give more gas when letting off the clutch
Thanks for the tip.
I need a start to finish How to build your own performance motor with parts list
Man I just want a engine that we can open up and not worry Abt pistons or jugs breaking.these engines been ars for some time now and it seems like no one can get em rite yet definitely should have 8 mm studs and this one looks like it would be really sweet.i dnt get how chainsaws can run high as hell. For a hr but these things ??
@La_Hover_Bikes Warning!!! I pre ordered an f-zero like the the Loki build and the rear sprocket bolts backing out never stops being and issue I eventually had to remove the rear break and drill it and reinforce the hub for it to stay safe please take this warning before we see you crash at 45mph because I already had my rear wheel lock up when the screws eventually broke I told bike berry and they don’t care I’ve talked to others with the f-zero and this is an issue across the board please find a way to be safe before continuing to push it because we don’t need to see you get hurt. Respectfully a fan and fellow builder.
review a jackshaft kit
The practical power seems wild for such a machine, thanks for the upload! Really happy to see it's coming along like it is and hopefully the newfound issues will resolve easily. I just uploaded an idle of my bike recently that you inspired me to build! He now has 750 miles run and it may not sound the greatest but I'm proud of what it's achieved!

Thank you for all of your videos and I hope to watch more of your uploads in the near future, stay safe and keep on buzzin!
Would this engine or the go max version be a better choice?
your throttle cable may be slightly loose
I gna make a windshield to catch Ari for Ard the engine
😅 lokie found a way to get mischievious on ya 😅🤣 be careful an watch your step my friend 😅🤣😅
So, what does hybrid mean in this case?
"you can enjoy a nice performance motor without trying to cheat death every second youre riding it"
I bought quick silver 2 stroke and it makes ok fast u can get it at AutoZone for ten bucks u should try it
If it runs excessively hot you always want to run rich to help cool
Hey man don't forget the cat next time
What kind of chain tensioner do you have?
Spring clutch cover
yep better safe than sorry
Hello,
Why do you put a can on the rear of your exhaust?
Just for fun. :)
@@LAHover :P
You produce a good video, don't let the jug heads get to ya.
Question for ya hover how did you get that can to the muffler I've put one on before but kept falling off
I just slid the ends together and clamped it with heater hose. Than I strapped it to the frame.
the statement about not caring to be in a crash on a motorized bike at or near 40 mph goes for cars and trucks too at 40 mph the drivers of cars and trucks generally sustain injuries that require hospitalization for at least a few hours sometimes for days with life altering injuries and death depending on what part of the vehicle the hit
What kind of camera are you using
Side view is a "Insta 360 One x 2"
Chest view is a hero 7 black
Hey I got a chinadoll you recommended about a week ago, theres a visible gap between the cylinder head and jug, so I'm going to lap and sand it down, any advice?
That gap is 100% normal. The sealing ring is only about 5mm wide on the inter diameter of the head.
hows this vs the phantom 85?
😑 1:50 🤦♂️
I always run that needle with the clip in the middle and then jet to run properly
We're do I get me one at
He updated them, they come with the mz65 and vm20. www.southerncustomcc.com/product-page/minarelli-hybrid-79cc-w-mz65-tuned-exhaust
what exatly makes this a hybrid?
cylinder from scooter
Why it called hybrid?
Scooter top end on a motorized bike bottom end. They are finicky little motors unless you know what you are doing... But they are STRONG!
Is this motor the same as Gomax?
I think so, my memory is junk but I remember seeing some information about SCcc working with gomax. I think they also supply the adapted MZ65 pipes.
Hey LA hover just a question.
Do you find that the smell of gas when working on a bike bothers you?
I know it does to me.
Not really. Unless it's old gas... 🤢
@@LAHover i kinda made my vertigo really bad aka feeling dizzy
@@keeganhache6667 can't help that winter forces us to work on bike inside... :/
I have one of these motors and I tell you what I got it up to 51 km and hour and I hold it for a couple seconds and left go as my turn was coming up almost crashed but 51 damm where I live if it goes faster and maintain speed just like a car you need a license and that bs
You only get one shot at life don't be careless with it
I wonder what It will sound like with a motorcycle exhaust
Although a two stroke can run decent without a tuned pipe, they won't make nearly as much power without one. So putting a anything else on it would just be for show/sound.
Hough's motors,look up
Possibly a poorly crafted n contoured needle valve....?
Heck if I know, but thanks for the feedback.
Hi guys this is not hybrid where is the battery
Wrong kind of hybrid. The word "hybrid" is not exclusive, and does in fact cover much more than than one combination...
Now where’s the burger
Look for this week's LD100 video ;)
