Mrs. Doc here: Been a while since I've made this dessert. I have made a strawberry and a cherry flavored one of these. I think both times it was for a party. It was a huge hit both times. If anyone here tries this recipe, I guarantee they will not be disappointed and neither will anyone else trying it.
As you were making this my mind was wandering at the other possibilities you could make with the angel food cake...orange with mandarin oranges or lemon...omgosh never ending!!! Thank you😍😍
I make lime jello, with crushed,drained pineapple & mandarin oranges ,& chopped pecans, miniature marshmallows & angel food cake & cool whip. So many combinations.
Similar to what we use to make for picnics or reunions. Only we layered the baking dish with first angel food cake and then the strawberries and poured half of jello mix on top and then repeated and topped with the cool whip. Refrigerator until jello has settled. Yum yum yum.
Looks so good. My pastor's wife has a birthday coming up. Church is going to give her a suprise birthday party and I will definitely make this dessert.

That looks like a crowd pleaser. Probably tastes a lot like strawberry shortcake, which is just the best thing dessert-wise that God ever created. I'll be making this one for sure!
You got my attention. I just made a strawberry dessert (shortcake ish). The difference I used a 8oz block cream cheese & sweet condensed milk with strawberry syrup to make color pink. Then fold cool whip. Your dish and the one I made look exactly the same. I mean, exactly, I had to pause your video to look. Forr strawberries, I sugar over them to sit. When they are on top of cool whip they look so shinny and glossy I cut slices. I made box angel food cake you get more that way 2 - 9" pans. Out of box or bakery the same cake I can't tell a difference. Now I'm going to try your way. The one I made my wife said. You didn't make this! Even though she watched me. She asked what I did as she wrote it down. Before making it I was thinking strawberries & cream. Jello never came to me. And now I want to make it. Thank you for sharing. I honestly believe it doesn't matter who makes strawberry shortcake dessert it's always going to be good.
Thank you! I remember a recipe very similar from 40 years ago at a Tupperware party! Lovely idea then and now. I did this with drained mandarin oranges and orange Jello and my granddaughters liked it on a hot, humid day!!!

Dinner was awesome last night!! I did my ground beef a little worstishire, garlic onion, a little ground cumin ( you got me to like), a couple tablespoons of taco seasoning and a cup of beef broth then I later let a cube just melt in there, I threw in diced potatoes, bell peppers and pinto beans, I put the tomatoes on the side and a little in some Mexican rice and chicken broth and salt in that…. We had it in burritos with my homemade salsa and some cheese. 🥰 now I’m on here commenting because I am planning on a strawberry dessert again!! Those strawberries just look so good in the store or online, lol I’m having to make my angel food cake though, and I’m doing something different but you definitely help me out with ideas…… I’m gonna have to see if you have more strawberry desserts on here.

My mom made it in a bunt pan and iced it with whipped cream after being refrigerated 24 hours so its really cold before applying the whipped cream it’s amazing cut like a cake slice

Since Winter is so long here in Indiana, I savor the Summer months. This is a perfect recipe for Spring and Summer get togethers.

Yes, you can do the just chicken broth, or you can use tomato soup and add some sugar to cut the acid.

I saw this a bit too late. I had angle food cake, strawberries, whipped topping and jello! I now have to get another Angle food cake.
You could totally use whipped cream for this. Because the gelatin would stabilize the whipped cream and it would hold up as long as you wanted.
If you ever had to make the Whipping cream by hand its easier if you place the bowl of heavy cream in a bowl of ice and it whips much faster by hand.
