The motherboard size is ~185*215mm.
Nice, it will fit the NR200p Case then!
@@noahhupe1yes, it should fit.
Just purchased one but it came with only ONE DDR4 DIMM. In the manual they say in what order to fill the DIMM banks refering to them as B1, B2, D1 and D2 but this code is NOT on the motherboard! Can you help ?
@@francoisleveille409 just install the RAM module into one of the furthest slots from the CPU.
@@Miyconst Thank you very much! I assume both left and right will work.
This means bank 0 is both slots closer to the edge of the board and bank 1 is both slots closer to the CPU.
Ha! I would have featured that board in my next video... except it seems I bought the PR8 by mistake. Just a few minor differences, like the fact that the PR8 takes DDR3, and is only compatible with 7 CPUs (none of which I own)!
Now it's time to buy an E5-2678 V3 and/or E5-2696 V3! I actually thought how to ship you this motherboard with one of my CPUs.. but the UK border is such a headache..
@@Miyconst yes, the 2696 v3 has been on my shopping list for a while, I guess it might finally be time... if the VRM can handle it!
@@IcebergTech VRM can't handle it but if you install a high RPM fan that blows right onto the radiator - it will be fine in gaming.
@@Miyconst u said this about rs9, my is now month if all day use just use negative pressure in case more out than in
Hi I'm going to purchase an X99-Pr8 because it uses DDR3. how was the motherboard so far? does it allows all cores turbo boost? I'm planning to put E5-2670 V3 into it.
Thanks for the review! Great information as always.
awesome video I am from brazil and because of the taxes this motherboard is one with the best prices
Many thanks for the video, very useful information
Дякую за цікаві відео! 👍👍👍
thanks for the info in this motherboard i keep eyeing this in ph market for some quite time now like 3 quarter of 2023 , cuz it cheap and paired with v4 processor at local online resellers
It feels like you're an ambassador of these chineses x79 and x99 motherboards.
Thank you for the review and the video.
I will be getting one of these.
I recommend AliExpress as the very last resort only. First check your local stores and second hand market.
Muito obrigado pelo vídeo!
✌😁
I was about to manually do the long process of flashing this motherboard a couple days ago since Mi899 didn't had this board when I tried it, yet you just came in and did it yourself, thank you very much! I tested this motherboard with a E5-2620 V3 stock with a Mingzhou RX 580 2048SP and I also had the GPU running at x8 3.0 speed, even though GPU-Z indicated that it was possible to do x16, probably the RX 580 I have is at x8 bandwith.
For a $40 x99 motherboard + $5 Xeon with not over 8cores to overload the vrm, I think its good enough for making a cheap gaming PC. Subbed.
Good luck with the PC and happy gaming!
I have a problem with this board + rx580 2048sp. When the screen is turned off, like when the PC is at the logon screen, the fans of the 2048SP goest to MAX. ALl the time. Tried with 2 2048SPs. Any ideas?
@@brun0ls I am out of idea sorry, you have to test with some other GPU, not the same model.
@@Miyconst turns out it was a Gpu issue. I got 2 mllse 580 2048sp and both of them are defective.
@@brun0ls oh, that's a pity but good job figuring it out.

Most of the X99-PR9 motherboards in the US listed on eBay list "Southbridge :Q85/ chipset series; (Part is B85 and part is C226)".
I got this one from Zsus (seems exactly the same as yours) to run with a 2640v3 (didn't tried the TurboBoost Unlock yet.
Thanks for the review, if you say it's approved I'm confident that is an "OK" product.
Be sure to check your chipset before trying to unlock. Else you might brick the BIOS.
@@sharkey9 can you share how to verify the chipset?
@@westektubeTry CPU z
So I tested the Mucai Version of this board, flashed it with -50 UT BIOS. (C612)
Front Panel USB3 now runs at full speed BUT it does corrupt data. So I would recommend testing those ports extensively before using them with some sort of data drives.
The VRMs are fine with unlocked 2680v3 when doing normal tasks or gaming, running Prime95 almost instantly bumps the CPU over 90° as well as the VRMs.
Cinebench hits those figures after like 3 minutes or so.
Overall I'm quite happy with the board but would suggest using either v4 Xeons or unlocked v3 with less than 120W TDP. Something like 2640v3 or 2660v3.
Always fun playing the Ali Board Lottery 🙂
💙💛
How did you verify data corruption through the USB 3.0 ports? Are there any automated tools for that?
@@Miyconst Well I learned the hard way...
I use an external SSD for testing and benchmarking and at first I noticed Windows 10 asking for checking the drive everytime, even after doing so.
I ignored it and ran a few game benchmarks and after a while I only got crashes when trying to start a certain game.
Using "verify game files" within Steam led to a complete reinstall because all files were corrupted.
The I/O shield ports do work perfectly fine though, did not run into any issues at all.
I don't know about any sort of tools but I will start researching for sure.
Спасибо за видео,и спасибо за файлы с прошивками и привет с Харькова 🇺🇦✌️
Excellent review. Love your channel. I recently bought this motherboard coupled with an E5-2650v4. I am really happy with it's performance. One thing I have noticed is it will only occasionally work Waking from Lan. Could this be due to sleep not functioning properly on the motherboard?
Thanks.
Yes, it could be related but since I didn't test the Wakeup from LAN function I can't say much.
hey, would it be possible to get a sort of "is x99/aliexpress platform worth it in 2024" video? or do you have a similar one already? i think it could be a good sorta jumping off point for new viewers?
I know you you pretty much wrote off the Atermiter motherboards but I actually HIGHLY recommend the super cheap Atermiter AS9 X99. Does quad channel ram, with a modified bios you get ReBAR and smart fan control, all ports and USB work as they should. Best part is, it's like $55 USD. You can see some of my tests with an E5-2699A V4 on my channel.
This board costs 40€ or like $38 or so. He probably dismissed those Atermiter because in the past they were extremely low quality and have been breaking after less than a year.
Granted, quad channel seems very tempting.
@b0ne91 I can vouch for mine, use it as my daily driver for the past year. Literally no issues aside from the original bios was super limited.
bro Oduzhuy shvydshe
thanks for the nice review!
Thanks for the support!
Hi @Miyconst thanks for the video. Sorry to ask here but will you review the Jginyue B650i board in the future?
So far I have no plans for JginYue B650i motherboard but maybe in the future something will change.
I just recently found your channel. I believe you do a great job in presenting these Chinese motherboards helping lots of people in making their decisions, given the rather messy offers on AliExpress.
Would it be possible to analyze some of the motherboards from the perspective of a home server solution? I'm interested in virtualization, pci-e passthrough and pci-e bifurcation. Would be a great effort from you, but very helpful to see how these motherboards stand. Thank you for your work!
For mission critical devices I always recommend second hand Dell or HP workstations, AliExpress is a gamble. In the past I did a few videos about servers and similar stuff, the views are minimal, people aren't interested whatsoever.
I'm considering that path, but it seems rather power hungry solution.
i have it but on c224 chipset, no issues for now, i have it since july 2023
machinist P4 and the PR9 are the best cheapest offers they have, also the X99H 1.4v is acopy of the P4.
Nice Review! Are you planning to review huananzhi p4f/p4t? There is a kit with ddr3 x99e-max and 2686v4, these non standart v4 works with ddr3?
So far I don't have such plans but yes, apparently there are a few unique V4 that also work with DDR3.
@@Miyconst 🤯
I got this just before Christmas and paired it with a 2680 v4, couldn't find much info online so happy to see you got one and reviewed it!😆 is it possible to flash bios to undervolt with v4 xeon?
As far as I know the V4 Xeons have locked voltage and are immune to whatever settings BIOS supplies.
@@Miyconst I'll just use it as is, seems good enough! Thanks!
hello, thanks for this review, this MB comes with chipset Q87/B85, Mi899 can handle z97 chipset, do u going to upgrade to that chipset? thanks in advance and regards
Hey! Nice content! Do you have a review of machinist x99 d8 max?
I have not yet tested this board and so far don't have such plans.
Hi, congratulations for your detailed reviews. I wanted to ask you if there is a decent model of chineze motherboard for x99(AliExpress), which actually supports quad canel, that you know of. Thank you
Machinist X99-MR9A is a good candidate.
Thanks so much for your efforts to provide us quality technical information arround those chinese scraps that sometimes is the only one budget option for thousands of people to have their first setup. I'm from Brazil and things here are very expensive most because the indecent taxes and duties imposed by govern. Please, do you thing is possible to run a 2687w v3 in this mo? I already have this processor and i'm looking for a cheap mo capable to handle it. Best regards and be well soon
E5-2687W V3 is a very power hungry CPU, so even though it's technically possible, I would not recommend it.
I found some of these Chinese motherboards with broken S3 Sleep actually work with Hibernate or Hybrid Sleep. It's worth a try.
But of course, this only applies to those that can enter sleep (or maybe standby) mode but can't wake up normally, not the ones without the sleep/standby option at all.
This one has no sleep mode at all.
I am confused which cpu is better for gaming 2696v3 or 2697 v3?
Do you think win 10 will supported for more 5 years?
Thank you for your great video. This makes me want to get 1 to pair with my ECC ram. May i get a suggestion for the best xeon processor to work with this motherboard? Thanks
The best Xeon for what task and price? E5-2680 V4 would be a good fit overall.
@Miyconst i rarely play games. Spent most of the time for graphic works such as architectural 3d modeling, rendering, and animations.
Hey, just found your channel. Love your work. Recently, I sold my old CPU and MB to upgrade my GPU. As such, I bought a 2680 V4 with this board. I plan to game @ 1440p with my new RX 6700 XT. Would this board be able to handle it? I plan to use the board for 3-4 years before upgrading. I also do not plan to modify the bios or anything like that.
The board should be able to handle it if you ensure good VRM cooling but longevity is not guaranteed, just like with any other AliExpress purchase.
The information at 9:05 is correct? You tested the motherboard at -21 degree Celsius ambient temperature.... What is the cpu cooler you are using? Thank you for the video.
That is supposed to be a tilde (~), means "around", the font didn't render it well. So, it was tested with ambient temps around 21C.
Very interesting, I was literally looking at this board yesterday. They sell for around $40-50. How much speed is left with just dual channel ram instead of quad configuration?
It really depends on the application. If you have something memory intensive, it could be up to 30% lost, if you have something like gaming, 0.5-5% loss.
@@Miyconstare there any recommendations for boards that work with 4 channels?
@@p_mouse8676 you can try the qd4 huananzhi, its quad. Also in Myiconst other vid, you can see quad helps min fps in games mostly... like 10-20 fps boost (single player). For me, if i still game, id go for a quad especially if theres added fps in multiplayer arena/shooters
Hi Miyconst, I would like to know after all those testings, do you have a preference between tower and downdraft CPU cooler even for higher TDP CPU like a E5 2697A V4 ? I've swapped out a Noctua U12S for a Thermalright SI-100 on my 13600k and I somehow have the same results in my ZZAW C2M case.
For X99 I prefer flower-type CPU coolers because they also cool VRM but in general, purely for CPU cooling, the towers are usually better.
Thanks for this video...I have built a few PCs for sale with this motherboard and the E5-1650 v3 all AliEx. The last one I got I could not use 2 DIMMs in at once or it would simply not boot. I tried different sticks and played with BIOS settings to match RAM speed and timings exactly instead of Auto and nothing would work. I assume it's defective? BTW, the seller on Ali issued a full refund...
Yes, most likely the motherboard is defective. I assume you have tried the correct two slots.
I have the q87 chip, I was getting "error 280: failed to disable write protection for the bios space!" on Mi899, not sure if i was doing something wrong. It worked using TechYesCity's tutorial following step1b but won't have the -50/50mv :(. Will the 1650 v3 with turbo unlock be fine? But I'm guessing overclocking it won't be fine?
E5-1650 V3 is an unlocked CPU, it's not compatible with TBU.
Молодец! Your reviews are excellent! Is it possible to make review of HUANANZHI X79 8D Dual CPU Motherboard LGA 2011 and Atermiter X99 Dual CPU Motherboard LGA 2011?
Спасибка! Привет от Сербиее!
Hello Miyconst congratulations for your video..I also have this motherboard model Machinist X99 PR9 with CPU E5 2650 V4 and wanted to hear from you if to unlock the turbo boost which bios should I choose in the mi899 utility list? Do I have to do everything I see in your video? ( Unfortunately it appears very quickly and I'm afraid of making a mistake in selecting the correct selections )... It would be great if you can make a video on how to set the BIOS of this motherboard in general ad hoc, I hope for your response, Thanks ! best regards.
It is not possible to unlock Turbo Boost with V4 CPUs.
@@Miyconst Thank you ! Oh I thought the opposite, so do you recommend installing a higher clock CPU on this motherboard? Which ? I thought to an E5 2667 V4 What do you think about it ? Thank you!
The 2690v3 would be okay with it, or 1650V4/2667V4 any other cpu would be too much
Thank you very much for your detailed video. I have a question regarding this motherboard. Is it possible to run it without GPU, aka headless mode? If so, how is it configured in the BIOS?
Unfortunately, the answer is no. My particular motherboard would refuse to boot without a GPU.
@@Miyconst Thank you!
I would luv to know what those jumpers are for on the bottom right alongside the memory slot ?
Do you mean the NVME/SATA M.2 jumper? It's so you can either plug an Nvme m.2 or sata m.2 which doesn't use the same protocol so you need to change the jumpers placement
What do you think of pairing this board with a 1660v4? It has 140W TDP officially but the slightly weaker 1650v4 can’t even get close to those numbers. Not sure about 1660.
It really depends on how much you gotta pay for that E5-1660 V4. In general, V4 are much less stressful to the VRM when compared to V3.
sick drip (shirt) sir,
may i know if 1650 v3 has full turbo unlocked here without any mods or bios ?
Thanks for all your reviews have a great day.
E5-1650 V3 is an unlocked CPU, like the i7s, thus no TBU possible.
Hello great video, just a question, will an Intel i7-5930k work with Rx6600 on this motherboard?
It should work but I can't guarantee that as I didn't test that exact CPU.
What brand of memory are you using that has the xmp profile? I cant find any one with info if they have it.
I tested with G.Skill memory but also available with Corsair and Kingston.
Built a few systems with this board and they all worked fine, exept the one I tried today, it simply would not post, using all known working parts so you can get a bad board from time to time it seems
Yeah, AliExpress is still a lottery.
Bought two of these. In your opinion, which cheap board is ok to overclock a E5 1660 v3 or 5820K ?
There are no such, in my opinion.
i bought this mobo and paired it with a xeon e5 2667v3 and a zh1400 chinese cooler but the issue is that the back overheats real quick and cpu clocks to 0.22ghz
Hm, do you have a chassis with horrible airflow? How do you know that it's that back that overheats? There are no critical components on the back side of the motherboard.
Thanks, i purchased the same one a month ago, three sata ports only one is working.
What chipset do you have?

@@abdullahalhalabi1 same as mine, and mine is 2 * sata 2.0 and 1 sata 3.0, but all work
Wait, one slide says that ECC mode is not supported? Does that mean this motherboard does not work with server REG ECC memory? Damn, so if I ever bought it to replace my 8M-F, I would have to buy new memory also... Might as well go for the X99 QD4, as sometimes it's cheap enough as to avoid egregious taxes here in Brazil!
ECC RAM is supported, ECC mode is not supported. You can still use ECC REG modules but they will work with ECC disabled.
@@Miyconst I see, that's a relief! Thank you for your answer!
Hello Miyconst! I'm wondering what RAM should i use in my Machinist X99-MR9A V1, and what u think about the "HMA42GR7AFR4N 2400T" Lenovo brand rams 16GB with hynix chips, they will work fine in this chinese motherboards? Thank you :3
I usually recommend cheapest possible second hand ECC REG RAM from known brands. The SK Hynix RAM you specified is good and should work with all Chinese X99 boards.
Which aliexpress boards supports quad channel and sleep now? The only ones I know are QD4 and MR9A.
QD4 sleep works???
Hello, @Miyconst, i was hoping to get your opinion on something. Im stuck between choosing the machinist x99 rs9 or the machinist x99 pr9. They are both within my price range but im not sure which one would be better. I will be paring with an rx 6650xt and either a xeon e5-2630 v4 or e5-2650 v3 as I have both on hand.
In your case both options should be just fine. Personally I would go with RS9 because of the extra connectivity options.
@@Miyconst thank you for your advice, in that case I will be going with the rs9 and use mi899 to solve any potential bios issues
Do you know if its possible to modify these bios to enable headless boot without a video card installed?
It's possible but I don't know how.
Here in Brazil this mobo is very popular due to its cost/benefits. The only issue of this project is the dual channel configuration :(
What psu is suitable for pr9 + 16GB +xeon e5 2680v4 +rx 580
And what about fan is 3 fan enough or should I use 4 pin one
A quality 500-600 Watt PSU will do it for you. 3 or 4 pin fan makes no difference in capacity. You need a fan or fans that can provide good airflow in the chassis. With Chinese motherboards the 3-pin fans work at 100% speed so it's noisy. Whether it's a problem for you - only you can decide.
This mobo can handle with an 2667 v4? Or maybe i have to add those small 5v fan or use these low profile cooler close to the vrm heatsink
With Chinese X99 motherboards you always have to ensure good VRM cooling. PR9 should be fine with E5-2667 V4.
Just discovered this, I have two of these boards. Have you been able to boot this board without a graphics card? BIOS has a "Do Not Launch" option for Video but without a physical card, it doesn't error out but it also doesn't boot into Windows.
I tried and failed, the motherboard would refuse to boot without a GPU.
Would this motherboard have heat problems if used with proxmox or is it only if your gaming? Can you use ECC memory? Maybe using a Xeon with lower TDP would be better, like the E5-4628L v4 75W TDP.
This is what I’ve been thinking of using it for. A cheap build that is reliable so I can tinker with Proxmox. Just going to buy a good name brand PSU though. Also for sure one of those CPU coolers with the flower style and maybe with an Artic Cooler Max fan or similar so don’t have to worry.
For my CWWK i3-1315U router / firewall box I cut a hole in the bottom of it. Planning on using Proxmox and pfSense in a VM and A Lot of containers. Another VM to handle some other of the firewall stuff. That thing will last as long as I have the aftermarket fans going. Has decent copper CPU but small fan though so have another one that is tied to the bottom one on top if needed to help ( we’ll see ), but put thermal paste on there. Have read comments from IT people on submarine’s that just a little bit less temps can make some components last many, many more Years !!! If I wasn’t planning on so many VM’s and containers really only need a N100 or N300 CPU then. pfSense or OPNsense firewall would be fine.
Great video
Hello, i made a vrm cooler for this board and other clones, posted on printables "VRM fan cooler for aliexpress Qiyida X99 ED4 board - V2"
That's awesome! I will try to print it when my 3D printer arrives. I have added the link to the video description as well. Thanks for your contribution.
please do F8D PLUS next :)
Only if someone donates it to me, I am not paying the asking price for that motherboard :)
do you have another suitable dual socket motherboard for a dual socket follow up to your recent many CPU comparison?
@@Miyconst i'd love to see dual 2637v4 compared to ryzen 5600 etc.
@@Mirddes what would be the point of such comparison?
@@Miyconstbecause dual socket is absurdly good value.
even the cheapest with its dual channel is absurdly performant. Comparing dual TBU to dual v4, 4 channels vs 8 channels, 2 cpus vs 1 cpu Vs Ryzen. Honestly dual socket cannot be recommended enough. The biggest flaw is EATX and most old ATX cases will fit it if you remove all the drivebays which is mostly a case of popping some rivets. Plastic standoffs seal the deal. Dual socket is especially awesome because you can start off single socket and add a 2nd CPU later. Would love to see a quad socket board but I'm doubtful AliExpress suppliers are interested in making them.

Hi, I have the MACHINIST E5 MR9A V1.0 X99 but the BIOS doesn't have the option of XMP or setting memory timings, can this be resolved with a BIOS update? If yes, which one would you recommend? thank you
Please watch the original review. So far I don't have anything more to add. ua-cam.com/video/9HQ1hv9aRkI/v-deo.htmlsi=sYMmuIFipsPw3SSY
hello,
thank you for reviews 👍.
nvme gen 3 or 4 ?.
The X99 platform does not support PCI-E 4.0 in any form.
thank you
Hi Mr, thanks for helpful video! I'm planning to buy this Mobo with a 2650v3 (for very cheap price) I have something to ask? What about DDR4 ram?? What is the max speed? 2133? Or I can use 3200Mhz? Reading description about ram supported and said "3200mhz"... You think this is possible? Thank you!
That's not possible. E5-2650 V3 has max memory speed of DDR4-2133.
@@Miyconst with e5 1650v4??? what max speed ram?
@@angelpadronr2646 it's DDR4-2400, you can check this on the Intel's specs page.
Wondering if these boards can handle a e5 2699a v4? I have a top down cooler, and will be replacing the CPU fan with a 3300RPM fan.
It could but why not get something with better VRM?
Hello, thank you for the review. I recently got a machinist e5-rs9 mb combo with a 1650 v4 and 2 sticks of 8 gb 2666 mhz gddr4. Everything works fine except that the pc shuts down after about 1 hour of working. Is it going to help to flash a huananzhi bios? If yes which one should I choose? The chipset is Q87.
Gpu temperature is perfect around 50 degrees so I suppose cpu is similar.
I have a 500w power supply so that shouldn't be an issue.
It sounds like you have a hardware issue, flashing another BIOS won't help but it's does not hurt to try if you are willing to risk and experiment.
@@Miyconst Maybe the VRM overheating ? The mb has only a heatsink over it and no fan. I could try to install one small fan on top of the heatsink.
@@Miyconst Is there a way I could check the VRM temperature with some software?
What are the goods x99 cpus who can use ddr3? I have a x79 kit (a 2689), but not sure if a get a new x79 cpu, a x99 mobo and cpu, and keep my ram....
You can use E5-2678 V3, E5-2666 V3, and E5-2696 V3.
Would this mobo pair well with a 2690v4 and a RX 590Nitro plus? I don't mind only able to have dual channel, two 16gb sticks are enough for me
Yes, it should be fine but of course, I can't guarantee that your motherboard will be as good as mine.
@@Miyconst ok thanks my man ♡ i subscribed rly fast from your videos, thanks for being so cool and helping ppl out
what is a good motherboard to buy for a cheap pc build? i want to build a budget pc for my brother and want to find a good motherboard
Pick a second hand Dell / HP / Lenovo workstation and upgrade it.
@@Miyconst This is the approach I recommend for most enthusiast unless you already have a spare case, fans, PSU and GPU. This boards are great for repurposing old parts.
market for hp/dell workstations are bad in greece@@Miyconst
Hi Miyconst, could you help me on the following: I recently assembled a pc with a machinist X99 K9 motherboard with a Xeon E5 2667V3 as cpu plus other necessary components. I was able to install Windows 10 and it works fine except I do not have internet. I made sure that the ethernet cable was ok and also I tried to install drivers, but I still dont have internet. What puzzle me is that no intemittent lights appears on the ethernet port, is it possible that the motherboard came with a faulty LAN connection? or Should I try others actions, please tell me your advices, best regards Filippo
It sounds like you have got a defective motherboard, without testing I can't say much more, sorry.
@@Miyconst Can you test it? I can ship it to your place and if necessary pay fees for repairing
On there website they state that this board has 4*DDR4 four channels support. According to your test its only 2channels. What is true. Did they change it or is it a false translation?
If i want to add wifi to this board should i go with a ex1 espension card or should i consider a different board?
What website are you talking about? Most likely it's a shameless lie.
Hi , great video, can you let me know with Chinese x99 it’s best for i7 5960x + OC . Thank you
Huananzhi X99-F8 with BIOS from iEngineer is probably the best.
@@Miyconst thank you so much.
Really nice outfit! is this traditional ukranian cloth?
Yes, this is a traditional Ukrainian shirt called Вишиванка / Vyshyvanka.
Which cpu do you suggest for gaming 2696v3 or 2697 v3 or other v4 xeon?
E5-2696 V3 with only 10-12 cores enabled is the best for gaming, assuming you mod the BIOS for TBU.
Hi, I wanted to know if this bios also works on the pr9 with Q87 chipset
It should but I can't guarantee that.
@@Miyconst
So I'll wait for an update on that then
What processor is best to install with 32gb ram on this mobi , i have editing work and gaming.
I would probably go with E5-2680 V4.
Can you do an individual bios modding (turbo boost unlock for this bios) for this mobo. Or is it impossible because of poor vram cooling.
The BIOS mods are available in Mi899.
I have a X99-PR9; it will boot ONLY if the left banks have ram. If I use the outer left/right banks, it will not boot. If I use the two left banks (towards back panel), pc will boot and show 32GB. Win10 and Linux boot fine. Should I change something in the BIOS so that both left/right banks can be seen?
That is the normal behavior with two slots per channel. The primary slot must be filled first. Does it work if you fill in all four slots?
@@Miyconst I don't have more ram to test. Thank you for replying.
So the machinist x99 pr9-h is on sale for only $34, apparently it has a hm55 chipset so the bios unlock wont work im guessing, does anyone know which bioses will work with the hm55 chipset
The PR9-H is fully castrated, it doesn't even have rear USB 3.0, I wouldn't bother with it. Regarding the BIOS I can only answer after testing.
@@Miyconst Yeah i didint notice that
I tried the -50mv bios on my PR9 with the B/Q chipset instead of Z and it sort of bricked it by no longer finding the bootable drive. I also could not get back into the BIOS using a USB keyboard.
I did get into the BIOS using a PS/2 keyboard and the boot sequence looked fine except that where it said Windows Boot Manager it now only gave the harddrives with the drive the OS is on already selected.
I then enabled 4G encoding as well as resizable BAR but upon rebooting I noticed that it bricked the board even more, ending with a flashing cursor and a normal A2 POST code in the bottom left.
I'm going to make a FreeDOS USB drive now to see if I can reflash the original BIOS.
If anyone has any tips, I'm all ears :D
Your motherboard s actually not bricked. The missing boot device is a known X99 UEFI bug. You can find solution in one of the Mi899 issues on GitHub or ping me on Discord. The ReBar behavior indicates that your GPU does not support it. What have you got?
@@Miyconst It seems all my replies to your reply are disappearing so I'm gonna try once more: I have an Elsa RX580 from Ali. As for the main issue: I ended up reinstalling Windows. Odd enough, when looking at CPU-Z it seems that the 2697 v3 is no longer running in Turbo but I'll look at that later. For now, I'm glad to have to system back up and running again. Thanks for your reply :)
@@pyramidsinegypt heh, UA-cam doesn't like when people write a lot, I didn't delete any of your comments. The Elsa RX 580 may be incompatible with Resizable Bar. Regarding the Turbo Boost - did you restore the BIOS defaults after flashing modded BIOS?
@@MiyconstHahaha, I know you didn't, no worries 😄 I did reflash the BIOS thinking it might fix it but I haven't restore the defaults. I'll try tomorrow!
@@Miyconst The Elsa RX 580 does work with Rebar/Sam, you need the RID drivers for that.
Did you also have a cold? =)) I got mine from my niece .
Yes, and I still have it.
@@Miyconst Wish you fast recovery!.
Hello everything is fine? Do you know if it is possible to enable secure boot on this motherboard? It seems like it doesn't have TPM 2.0. I'm having a problem in the game Valorant, is there any way to resolve this?
TPM 2.0 is not possible with X99 platform.
okay, thanks! It will be impossible to play Valorant then in W11
great news! what's the best tdp cpu to put in this motherboard?
The best in what measure? Price? Value? Workstation performance, single / multi player FPS?
gaming of course ;) the best tdp that mobo can support@@Miyconst
My pr9 is a b85 chipset, I can't try to unlock turbo boost because it gives an error when backing up the bios using the dump command in administrator mode. msm following all the steps and configuring the bios correctly to unlock unlock manually
error 103: There are no supported SPI flash devices installed. Check SPI flash device connectivity and orientation.
Do you know why this error occurs?
It seems like you didn't watch the video. Use latest Mi899 version and the issue will be solved.
@@Miyconst Sorry for my petulance master, I hadn't paid attention to the video.
I know the risk I'm taking but in your opinion, in your mi899 program with this b85 chipset on my board I see that the machinist mr9a also uses a b85 chip. Is there any problem using the bios of the huananzhi 8mf tp, tu pei - 50/50mv? There is chipset b85, 226 I have this doubt.
TBH all this motherboard is missing, is second m2 slot or m2 wifi slot
then i think it would be THE pick for anyone who still aims to try 2011-3
At least you have a PCI-E X1 that can be somehow used.
true@@Miyconst - but because of QD3/QD4 this is a prism i am kinda forced too
yea QD3/QD4 does not have m2 wifi slot, but 2 nvme slots + 3x pcie (various lenght) kinda gives a nice point
but bios wise... god damn this machinist is something great
I just got this model, but mine has a Q87 chipset. Is it still safe to use Mi899 to unlock turbo boost? It only has Z97 listed. Thanks!
When it comes to the Chinese motherboards I can guarantee absolutely nothing, even if you have matching chipset. Still, from what I know, Z97 and Q87 can use the same BIOS.
@@Miyconst Sorry, it's actually H87 😅. I guess I'll just use the oldschool registers just to be sure.
Have you made a guide on how to turbo unlock this motherboard please respond thanks
Hi. Please watch this exact video.
@@Miyconst So I should just follow the steps in the video
is the machinist x99 pr9 compatible with the i7 5820k or only the xeon?
Please watch the video.
decent motherboard but i want suggestion which is best chinese motherboard for i7 5960x for overclocking ?
Huananzhi X99-F8.
@@Miyconst ok thank you do i need to update the bios to that ?
Hi, what is the diference with the Pr9-H? Thanks
The PR9-H seems like a clone of Huananzhi X99-P4F, the motherboard is stripped down to the absolute minimum, even USB 3 and SATA 3 are removed.
Can you recommend a good cheap place to get AIDA64 from?
Their website I can recommend.
would you please share the link of mi899 latest application, please,
i think, mine is outdated. thank you.
Mi899 is hosted and always available at GitHub, easy to find with Google search, anyway, I have added the link to the video description as I can't paste links in here.
@@Miyconst i didnt think of google search when i watch your video.
but anyway, yes, thank you so much. 🙏🙏
Can I use a Nvidia Quadro K620 graphics card with Machinist PR9 ?
That should work.
Would this be considered a M-ATX or M-ITX size layout?
It's in between, the closest is mini-DTX.
@@Miyconst Thanks for the reply! Appreciate the content.
does anyone know if an i7 6850k will work in this board? and does the bios have cpu overclocking settings? i already have them both being shipped to me. but if the i7 does not work i have plenty of xeons that i know are compatible
The i7 should work but no overclocking is possible.
@@Miyconst i see. also for some reason the 6850k does not work with this motherboard even though the seller told me it did. i tested the cpu in another system and it works so i know its just not compatible with the pr9. as soon as i swapped it with a xeon it posted and worked. but with the 6850k it just turns on and does not post.
@@woofmeowmeowwooffestival4774 that's very odd, are you sure that the i7-6850k is fully functional? Maybe you have TBU BIOS or ECC RAM?
Yes the CPU is 100% functional. I'm using huperX fury ddr4 . I only tried it that one time when I first got the motherboard and when I couldn't get it to post I just swapped in a Xeon e5 2667 v3 and it instantly worked . Maybe I should try the i7 again just in case. I will let you know if it works. (I just tried it again. It just does not post. Everything turns on and lights up but it just stays like that with all the fans at full throttle. With my other CPU it posts after 2 or 3 seconds and the fans slow down and then I get the machinist logo and it boots to windows) but this i7 works in another Asus board I have so I know it's not dead.
@@Miyconst I just got my i7 5820k and it's doing the exact same thing as the 6850k. Do you have any ideas of why that's happening?
My pr9 have q87 southbridge, its very worse than of z97?
No, the set of features is identical.
