My first time visiting Jerome was in 1953 or so. It was a real ghost town back then and kind of eerie. Your visit last year was the first time I had seen the area since then and really interesting. Am looking forward to your next visit.
After WW2 ended, my late husband, brother-in-law, several of their cousins and friends left Oklahoma and went to Morenci and Clifton, Arizona to work in the copper mines. I remember them saying "farming was hard work but the mines were something else"!

Been to Clarkdale and my wife and I rode the Verde Canyon Railroad about 9 years ago. Enjoyed it so much ! However, I don't know how we missed the Copper Museum. Have to go back real soon and see it.

I went through the Verde Valley once in January 1979. It must have changed a lot since then. Jerome was touted to be on the way of becoming a ghost town. I flew from Montreal to Los Angeles, rented an Avis car and drove 4500 miles in 10 days all around Arizona and Southern California. I had "unlimited mileage" on my car lease ... lol ! Not very profitable for Avis Rentals. Train museums are always fascinating. In Barstow, California, at the junction of Interstates 15 and 40, in the Central Train and Bus terminal there is a McDonald's Restaurant using decommissioned passenger train wagons as a dining room. I stop every time I drive around there. Nice work, as always, Russ. Thank you so much. RICHARD
Russ, that's the best museum that I have ever seen you shoot. Tomorrow's trip to Jarome was one of my favorite surprises of the entire southwest back 20 years ago. Cant' wait.

Russ. . . I have never seen anything like this! It is an awesome museum. I have heard about copper scrolls. That one u saw & showed us could change history. The Phoenicians r the only people that I know of as the people of antiquity that made them. There r stories of them being left behind on the northern continent around 1,000 B C. They came here to gather copper ore for the 1st temple for King Solomon. They also worked the shores of Lake Superior for copper. They were never rescued.
U showed pillars with caps on them. Those r called capitals. They reminded me of the two that stood next to the 19 foot doors of the 1st & second temples in Jerusalem.
When u go back, please ask the staff if some of those older pieces came from the excavations in the Grand Canyon done by the Smithsonian about 30 years ago.
We never did hear much about those excavations. However, rumors dated those finds back to 3,500 B. C.

I went on the Verde Canyon train ride many years ago and it was amazing. Well worth the time and very informative of the area. Gives you a renewed appreciation for the folks who settled AZ.

There are products that you can put on copper that will seal it and keep it shiny. It will come off with use, but in the museum the pieces would stay shiny.
I was wondering about that. Especially the copper ceiling at 19.30.

I'm hoping I will be able to make Arizona my winter trip again this year. I was up around Page after Christmas last year and I loved the area.
My stomping grounds. That train 🚂 ride is a "must do!" Soooo worth it. Watch out for that haunted ☠️👀💀 mansion on the hill... scary 🦇

WW1 artillery shell art is cool also. The copper still is neat too. Great place to visit. There is very low humidity in AZ so the tarnish should be a lot slower.
Nice video, thank you! Regarding the tarnishing of copper which is a green color! Military Brass is covered with a clear coat to prevent tarnishing. If the clear coat is removed then the brass must be polished by hand quite often to remove the tarnish. My last name is Clark. I am 82 and never new about Clarkdale until your video. Copper has been a part of civilization going way back in time! There are many secrets! Will we ever know it all? New things come to light all the time! Fortunately, we don not have to know everything. We leave that to the Creator who provided the Raw materials for us to live in prosperity! If neighbor loved neighbor which is the fulfilment of all the commandments then we would all do well. That time is coming but first we must be trained to refuse Evil and to accept Righteousness! The history presented in the Bible is often not warm and fuzzy but it is factual. Ron PTL USA
Thanks for the memories. I was there 4 years ago and I hope you got into the War room. Copper was used for military uses and shell heads for large artillery were decorated artistically. It was amazing to see all the many different country's fancy war heads. I may be way off in how I'm describing this, but it was hard to believe the time and skill that went into something tbat was to be fired into the enemy. Thanks for the fantastic tour!

You have to go check out crown king az go to the mill restaurant very historic look them up. The town of creator az on the way to crown king az 27 mile long dirt road. Thank you russ great tour thank you for showing us all.

Great video once again what is the road runner bird actually called I don't think we have any here in our Australian zoos that I know of will have to go online and check such a beautiful looking bird. I love those small old towns in Arizona! Tombstone is my all time favorite! I just want to go into every building and nosey around!😊 I had to stop and think about the Aphrodite/Venus art in front of the museum, then I remembered the symbol for the planet Venus is the same for female and copper is the element that is associated with the planet in Astrology!

Verde Canyon Railroad....there is a small museum there as well, inside a caboose car, not sure if it was open when you filmed.

Now that I'm old, I guess it is appropriate for me to replace the mirror on my ceiling with that copper piece. What was a great idea in my 20's and 30's no longer applies in my 70's.

Russ, cool town! If you ever get back to the UP of Michigan there are copper mines there. The UP is full of mines that date back a long time ago!
Have you followed the old RR line out of Jerome that is now dirt road? It was the RR line that connected Jerome to the ?? Peavine?? out of Prescott which ran N to the Union Pacific (?) or was it the Santa Fe, between Calif & the Eastern part of the U.S.. Not a lot of remarkable scenery, mostly Juniper & rolling hills. But historical country none the less. You can pick up the route when you drive to the open pit on the West side of Jerome. Like your videos!

Hi Russ. I'm hearing a lot about a fire near Prescott which you be somewhat near where you are (were) traveling. Did you see any of the smoke from that fire? These fires are terrible news. BTW, I'll be in Mesa this winter with a side trip to Lake Havasu City and surrounding areas. So your travels near Quartzite are very valuable sources if information for me! Tx
