Hey nice saw. I have a pallet full of old McCulloch chain saws that I plan on restoreing when I retire. 10-10and 555 and some others. Love the vidios .
My father taught me on a lightweight 10-10 back in the '70's. Great little saw. Pretty loud, but cut nice. Spent many days in the woods of upstate NY. Now that's living! Thanks for your videos friend!
I've got that same exact saw, 10 10 automatic, and it sat around for 2 yrs before i got it. The guy told me he'd never ran it in the 2 yrs he had it. I honestly pulled the plug out, looked at it, shined up the electrode, put some gas in it. Pulled the rope up tight, then let it rewind a little, pulled it again, and it fired the first pull. Kicked the choke off, and away she went. It has a 16 '' bar, all original, it was made between 71-74. I have had so much fun with the old girl, its crazy. I did pull the tank off it, cleaned it inside till you could eat out of it. Soaked the filter in fresh gas, blew it out, did it again , what a NEAT old saw!! Lot's of life in it i hope. From now on, i'll either use all the gas up, or drain it out, leaving the gas cap a little loose to evaporate the little bit of gas left in it. I think the gas had been left in it in the past, and this caused the tank to have sediment in it.
there is something to say about them old saws , they have so much power its awesome that you still run them . I know you have many newer saws but still choose to run the macs that is so cool . be safe buckin
Billy, what size raker gauge do you use, .25"? I've been a Mac guy for years and love the 10 series. I have lots of 10-10's, 555, 700, sp81, 850, and a lonely mac15. Love the channel boss!...can't stop watching.
ok friends that have just joined in, when the man says he don't like the chain............it ain't skoukem, cuz his 10-10s flat out eat the wood. Hey Buckin you know what would be cool..........I side by side of a 10-10s and the xl 76 homie or equivalent cc Mac, just for the fun of it............what's ya think pal?
hey there Johnny how are you man? I not real savvy on an xl 76 other than the one Buckin shared from his stable o muscle saws. this is only a wild a$$ guess here at 60-70cc or maybe as simple as 76...........Buckin? All I know John is buckin's homie xl 76 is a runner and so are the 10-10s so I thought it would be cool if he showed comparison of the two and what he thought of each good bad or indifferent. I don't so much care which one eats the others sammich, just run 2 badace vintage 70s muscle saws in the same video and compare the man's thoughts to each. So I'm summary...............Buckin, Mculloch, Homelite, a harmless innocent tree hehehe, and some some chain that took a 'boat ride' (eh Buckin see what I did) and a Gopro............. Don't know about anyone else but I sense about 20 minutes of awesome comin real soon!!
just threw a 25" bar on my 041 Farm Boss....I feel Much safer, I always try to be Wayyyy longer than I need! I wanna see that bar poking threw the other side of the log! Shorter bars are MUCH more dangerous. I wanna be long, heavy and farther away from the tip....I want it going OVER my head, not Into it.
buckin, i want to put a 28-in bar on my Mac 10 10 utomatic or my pro Mac 55. I'm thinking a skip tooth to chain do you have the specs and what bar/ chain would work for this setup. thanks
TheDabomb57 Find yourself a Super Pro 81 with the Mac full wrap handle bar and get a 28" Oregon Power Match plus bar and chain on it! Trust me, you won't regret it and won't want to put it down! Haha!
so bucking its iris again from here in Maine I just got a Mac ten ten and if I cut close to the tip of the bar it cuts good but if I go to the power head it docent seem to cut at all what could be the problem

That sounds like some Homelite chains, with two depth gauges.

Even stock those old macs have a good sound to em.
they do so
Bucking Billy's old mac's seem to out cut any other saws on UA-cam, he must have a secret.
Good runnin saw!!
That 10-10 is deadly!
Some great advice
awesome saw i have a 605 it has a tough time running i think it needs a new carb or to get rebuilt with fresh gaskets
Try carb , always check fuel filter first then carb someone may have messed with jets
i will this weekend friend also great content past couple days

well done buckin
these saws never seize to amaze me
Nice!
That looked like a good uproot.
yip
Got it.
lovely position of the tree to buck it ... did the rootstock moved at the end when the 2nd tree was cut off?
a bit yes
Thomas Mach he always seems to get lucky with tree positioning I'm starting to get suspicious!! Hahah
Jacob Smith maybe a swallow of WATCO would help us too to overthrow a tree incl. rootstock into a nice bucking position ;-) ha ha
Thomas Mach I'm not sure but I think he needs to tell us the secret lol
Maybe the watca is what does it!!!
and i thought my one man crosscut cut like a hot damn
ok friends that have just joined in, when the man says he don't like the chain............it ain't skoukem, cuz his 10-10s flat out eat the wood. oh man...............this'll be good............is there a pre-like button anywhere, for us special needs technology people?
ha haa
Woos 31 Oh man, I'm with you on that one! I have never seen a XL 76 in person, only in the last year here on UA-cam! How big are they anyway?
hey there Johnny how are you man? The camera makes everything look bigger... how big is that bar? Nice sounding old saw
28 ''
Had a 10-10 and a 10-10 A. Got rid of both, too hard to start...28" bar??
How'd you rig up that full wrap on There
just threw a 25" bar on my 041 Farm Boss....I feel Much safer, I always try to be Wayyyy longer than I need! I wanna see that bar poking threw the other side of the log! Gettin in to collecting the macs. Got 2 10-10's, a 2-10, pm700, and a power mac 6. What chain do you prefer running?
3/8
TheDabomb57 Find yourself a Super Pro 81 with the Mac full wrap handle bar and get a 28" Oregon Power Match plus bar and chain on it! Trust me, you won't regret it and won't want to put it down! Haha!
I've noticed you have a VERY WIDE selection of saws, do you ever sell a few that you don't run that often?
sometimes yes
I would be very interested to see a video explaining where you manage to find all of your old saws.
Nothing wrong with that cut
cutting with a good chain "fun"cuttin with a good chain and vintage saw " awsome"
a major part of my life
I have one
so bucking its iris again from here in Maine I just got a Mac ten ten and if I cut close to the tip of the bar it cuts good but if I go to the power head it docent seem to cut at all what could be the problem
is it quite grabby or a smooth cut
Buckin' Billy Ray Smith. its really smooth and it docent even cut
the chain spins like it should but don't cut even after sharpening and takers are at proper height
YOU LL HAVE TO EXPLAIN DONT CUT ,,, POWER S OUT ,, BOUNCES OFF WOOD THERE WOOD HAVE TO BE MORE DETAILS TO ANSWER THIS FRIEND
Buckin' Billy Ray Smith ok sorry don't cut meaning the chain will spin like it should but docent cut the wood just sits their and spin
She cuts good, but not as good as your pro 10-10 hey!?
