I bought a Mac 610 for 15 bucks at a yard sale I didn't even know what a McCulloch chainsaw was but now its my favorite brand of chainsaw I love your videos buckin keep up the great videos
Buckin’ long time no contact but as I mostly run 610’s (& one 650) I can’t help but smile to see the little 610 in your skilled hands. What a joy l’m grinning ear to ear. Can’t wait to see how she does with the 28 on her. Keep the greatness coming!!!-Mac
I'm so glad to see Hogan helping you out with the firewood. My best memories of my dad was when we were cutting and splitting wood. Damn, I miss him so much! Great video as always, stay safe my friend!

They have caught their first crays and keeping wanting me to take them on their next dive. Wait till little Matthew finds out that uncle "Bucky Ray" asked about them. Loving the channel - a big hello to all the members out there.
Dad ran two of those for probably 20 years between the two (never more than about 6 or 8 cords of cutting in a given year). Heavy saws and not fast, but he liked them - too heavy for me to run long when I was on the young side of teenage and bugging him to work under his supervision. I don't think they were expensive and they never really cost him much in service over the years. The exhaust on them makes them sound deep, and they have a funny ringing idle.
Those wood hooks are pulp hooks, back east they used them to load pulp on the trucks, little harder to do that out here tho! Love you videos and someday I may have to order an axe off ya! Keep up the good work ole feller
Nice seeing a PM610. My dad has had one of these since the 80s. I remember it growing up and he still has it. Have seen him buck his fair of firewood with it and I have used it quite alot myself. Its a pretty good runner with a good chain of course.
Nice to see a father and son team! Nothing like having the kids along :) By the way, I'm in power saw mourning today...one of the guys who was with us on the clean up today, had to fall a 75' spruce leaning somewhat towards the powerline. He made the undercut at the wrong place, miscalculated the wind totally, the tree went down almost catching the powerline...it evaded the powerline, but not my trusty old 262...have never ever seen a powersaw as flattened as that thing, even the bar looks like a Z.. Haha!! Just glad no one got hurt.
That Golden Retriever walking around really wanted you to give him a pat on the back. LOL Silly dog. Made me nervous walking around while you were swingin that axe ;)

I have a pm 610 myself, local shop fixed up a 28" bar for it. Works great Billy! I like the saw so much l bought another one, that came up for sale near me!
Love to see the 610 I have 7 of them I use for me self ,,,put the 28" on it ,and run the hell out of it I have never seen one quit and simple to work on, plus you can get them all day long for like 50$ bucks 👍👍
Another great video buckin! Been watching u for a year or so now, love the content, im running stihls and husqys now but that pro mac 610 was my first saw about 15 years ago, keep the vids comming dude! 😁
Must be an earlier model without a chain brake? Because I have that same saw and it has a brake .... I love that saw with all my heart.... and yes the Oiler is super weird on that thing.... mine included thank god it has a manual thumb pump wish the new saws came with them
one of McCulloch's best saws.. bought 4 of them for 25 bucks each.. reset the tuning.. gassed them up all of them fired from a cold start in under 6 pulls
So Glad to see you using the 610! These are the saws that I cut my teeth on with my Grandfather. Nothing like the 60-70's macs like you are used to but to me they were heaven! The smell of 2 stroke in the morning : ) He gave me a Mac timberbear, it was the newest model of the 610 before they stopped production. Has a much better chain brake handle on it. Pro tip on starting, the trigger safety on the handle is basically like a built in high idle. Its had to explain but if you pull the trigger a little and pull up on the spur on the top of the handle it will hold the throttle open a little. You might know this but it didn't look like it was engaged. Do that and choke it and it will start much faster. My olier does the exact same thing. have to pump it manual a few times before the auto kicks in. Love the videos Buckin! I was SO excited to see a 610 out!
Picked myself up an old PM 610 before finding your channel, Buckin. Glad I found your channel for sure. Had to rebuild that old 610, with a 610 Super piston & cylinder and of course threw a 28" McCulloch bar & chain on it. Love that saw and it's growl, it has the torque to get through a lot (surprises the Stihl guys here too). Has the silly large brake handle on it though which gets in the way of filling the oil. Interesting that mine came with dogs on both sides of the bar, and some have no dogs... I now have a Pro Mac 10-10 hanging in the garage waiting for a carb rebuild, and a bar & chain as well. Can't wait to run it!
Great to c hogan. tell victorious victor to pay him more so he can get a set of tires on that Dotson .great to see you using the 610 that warrenty is void on that now because of the chain brake removal He he !!!
I bought a hydraulic log splitter about 4 months BEFORE I found your channel. Makes me wanna take it back now! REAL men split by hand! Welcome friends, from KC

Lots of people bash the 610 and timberbear models, they are good saws but have weak oilers in my opinion they will outcut a 10-10. By the way Billy it looks like yours had a 10-10 clutch cover, I wish pin oak split that easy with a axe
Just curious, why do you say they are not a 10-10 or PM 555? I have 2 610's and a PM 700. 610's run strong with a 20 inch bar but the 700 with a 24 inch bar still much stronger in my opinion.
@@DMJ160 Hey Dave! I have a half dozen 610's, a half dozen 10-10's, of different variants and a Pro Mac 555, and the 610's struggle to keep up with the smaller saws. I run 20 inch bars on my 610's as well, because they start struggling with anything over that. I've run a 24" skip tooth on them and they did OK. Nothing special. Now the 10-10's and my 555, they will pull 28 inch bars just fine. The 610's will not, I've tried it. They'll pull it, but they bog down VERY easy with the longer bars. So I should say, they will not pull longer bars as effective as the 10-10 or 555. My comment was more aimed towards where the company was at, at the time of when these saws were produced. The 610's came on line, after Black and Decker sold McCulloch, to a private company, which was the beginning of the end, of the legacy Robert McCulloch started. Most, if not all, (I'm not an expert on the McCulloch Corporation), of the 10-10's and the 555 were made back when Robert McCulloch still owned the company, or when Black and Decker owned them, and still believed in higher quality. After the private company bought them, they started with plastic parts, they were being made in Mexico, and the overall quality, just wasn't there, like the older, all metal saws. That's what I was getting at. I still like and use my 610's, they are just not up to the quality level of my 10-10's and 555. I will say, I'm hoping to get a 700 one of these days. I have a couple Stihl 461's, so I don't really have a use for a 70cc McCulloch, other than, just because. So that puts it down on the priority list a bit.
@@johndunbar2393 Thank you for the info! It shows a "Power Mac 610" was made from 1978 -1985 and a "Super Pro Mac 610" 1985-1994 on www.acresinternet.com site. They look the same. I have seen some 610s' with a assembled in Mexico label on them.
@@DMJ160 Yep, Black and Decker had it for a decade. I know mine all have Pro Mac 610 on them and they were made in Mexico. Got me curious now Dave. I'll have to see if I can find anything showing the differences between the Power Mac and Pro Mac. I does seem some of that style started showing up in the Black and Decker era. Even the Pro Mac 650 was made from 78 to 85, if that site is 100% correct, and the picture is the same for it as well. So, I'm not real sure! Lol! I just know the 10-10's and 555's are a different animal, even though they give up a few cc's.
I've got 3 nice 610s I love. (actually 7 of them, 5 run good, 2 I'm sellin, 3 I'm keepin). Great saws if not a little heavy but great saws. You ever had issue with one if you tip it too far foward wanting to flood? Mine seem to do that. Think the oiler is biggest issue on these, it's a diaphragm type and eventually wears out. Ol Bob in NY sold me a couple new old stock ones but they are 20 years old already now too! haha. Don't know if I'll be able to use em much when those poop out unless I could make a new diaphragm out of somethin.
How much more wood would that be if it were split to “fireplace” size??? (Well it wouldn’t really be any more, but it would split to way more than a cord...)
Cool saw! Do you happen to know much about the pro mac 655? That's the one I have from that lineup. It seems to be the oddball one as I can't find much info on it at all. I know the 650 was a factory hot rod as it has an extra port added to the piston. I assume the 655 is the same as myn is stock and super plucky! I will do a video on myn soon I'm just trying to find out more about it first :p cheers Buckin! Any help is appreciated!
Hey Billy i'm new to the channel and have really enjoyed your videos. I have a question regarding McCulloch saws.. Locally there is a old mac 10-10 and a 3214 for sale and i was wondering if they are good saws for felling trees and if you knew more about them spec wise? Thanks in advance! Skyler Wilson

dad had two of them (we cut our own firewood, but nothing more) and neither had dogs, either. They were a heavy slow saw but they had a great sounding idle. He got a mid range husky about 15 years ago and that was the end of those saws (his were worn out, though, I'll give him credit - he "used them up")
Buster, I went through the same confusion. Says with McCulloch oil 40:1 anything else...20:1. I find it hard to think there is a difference in McCulloch 2 cycle oil v.s. other brand 2 cycle oil. If I am correct? McCulloch didn't make oil just had their name on the container. 3.2 ounce of oil to 1 gallon gas gives you 40:1. I go 3.6 ounce to a gallon which gives 36:1. My run fine with that ratio. I get about 9 gallons of mixed fuel with a 1 quart container.
Hey Buckin' I have a question. I have a beautiful pro Mac 610. She only wants to start if I spray the carb. Once it starts, it runs and idles just fine. Can you make any suggestions? I can't think of a more qualified person to ask. Thank you Billy Ray

I does seem some of that style started showing up in the Black and Decker era. Even the Pro Mac 650 was made from 78 to 85, if that site is 100% correct, and the picture is the same for it as well.
So, I'm not real sure! Lol! I just know the 10-10's and 555's are a different animal, even though they give up a few cc's.
love that truck
I have shared some of the videos with my son and grandson....Simon and Ethan.......I think they will subscribe......Ken
What a good kid loading up firewood
nice axe i want one
Good little saws
You!!!! The man.i need to split wood now. You got me going!!!! And I'm in bed 😂😂😂
I like the Jonsered 2250s it's a fast chainsaw with 14,500 rpm.
That 610 is a little different looking. Looks like it cuts pretty good though.
I have one mc 610 proted is a beast a liked
If I was there, I would grab the other end of that acacia board and help you haul it up there.
Billy what specific type of link handle do you use for you use for your double bits?
i love my McCULLOCH pro mac 610. i just got it 4 days ago.
i got a McCULLOCH mac 15 at the same time but i can't get it to run
Saw a 610 at the pawnshop today for $60 I think I need to go back and get it.
Can't wait till i can take my boy out! He's only 8 months old though hahaha
👌
I load a cord of quarter rounds into my truck, and when it's all split up I tend to get about 20% more than what I started with.
Skyler Wilson

that woods spalted mate
the maple is yip
Be kind friends. It cost you nothing.
White pine, especially whit pine dosnet work that that way. In the USA
24inch bar is fine , if you put a 28 you can lose some power cut
I've got a 36" on mine running skip chain. Here on the West Coast we cut a lot of big soft wood, I'd rather have more bar than more speed honestly.
Hey billy every try busting sweet gum
I bought a 610 and it didn’t have any dogs on it either. I wonder if that was common on that model. What do you think?
dad had two of them (we cut our own firewood, but nothing more) and neither had dogs, either. They were a heavy slow saw but they had a great sounding idle. He got a mid range husky about 15 years ago and that was the end of those saws (his were worn out, though, I'll give him credit - he "used them up")
Can i order an Axe from you and would you send it to germany?
Greets and keep up the good work.
Email Buckin at Buckinbillyray@shaw.ca. Yes he will send to Germany
Be kind friends.
finally useing a 610 thats standard you should use a 650 and see the difference
What do you think of a ol pro mac 610 and would it be a good saw I currently run a 5020 poulan pro
Hey Billy,do ya ever run a pro mac 700 ? Really liking the vids.
I HAVE ONE YES NEED TO DO A COUPLE THINGS TO HER AND SHE'LL BE OUT WITH US THANK YOU
The PM 700 is a beast! It's like a hot knife through butter on large hardwood trees! It moves through them quick & easy.
What is the gas/oil ratio you run in that Pro Mac 610? There is a lot of confusion and opinions for these old McCullochs. Thanks, Buster
I get about 9 gallons of mixed fuel with a 1 quart container.
..so a 10-series clutch cover will fit a 610?...looks like that's what's on it...
Hey Buckin' I have a question. I have a beautiful pro Mac 610. She only wants to start if I spray the carb. Once it starts, it runs and idles just fine. Can you make any suggestions? I can't think of a more qualified person to ask. Thank you Billy Ray
It probably just needs a carb kit. I know that I’m kind of late to the party but maybe it’ll help 🤔
