This Pacific Northwesterner agrees on all counts! Great advice, especially when it comes to buying quality rain coats. Spend some money because Target will not do the job. Another piece of advice would be to find jackets with the hoods. In my part of the country we don't use umbrellas unless it's pouring, so a hood does the trick for days when it sprinkles or drizzles, which for us is the norm.

These tips are terrific! Living in Chicago, I definitely have to invest in good outerwear. I just purchased a weatherproof Burberry (with a removable hood) during the Nordstrom sale! And you're right about the inexpensive boots...don't waste your money. My Target boots cracked and I ended up with soaked feet on my way to work. Invested in a pair of Hunters and they are terrific...well worth the money. Thanks again!

I am currently living in the Caribbean where we count our blessings when it rains. Recently got married to this amazing guy who lives in the Netherlands. For now we convened that I move over and later we will come to the sunny island to enjoy our pension with the sun and piña colada.
With this move it means I have to know how to dress for the rainy days all the while remaining true to my put together styling wish.

I've been looking for a good hooded rain jacket the kind that cover your head and neck and you can tight, because when it rains with wind is imposible to use a hat or an umbrella, I am in northern california.

I've purchased multiple trench coats from Nordstrom and Marks & Spencer (it's U.K. Online comes super fast) I find as a curvy girl it's harder to find good basic waterproof trenches. I own stone, khaki, olive and navy(this one has a button in removable quilted lining). I also own a short one in stone from M&S.

I need advice on how to wear shoes that don't support my arch. There is always an uncomfortable gap where the midsole fails to meet my arch. Is there any advice, techniques, inserts, certain brands that you would recommend? I want to wear pretty stylish wedges or sandals but I feel like my foot is unbalanced, either all my weight is on the ball of foot or on my heel.?!
I wouldn't mess around with your feet. I would go see a podiatrist and get an expert to weigh in. It can impact your joints, knees, hips, etc...
