Omg. Relevant content and not impractical UA-cam styling content. Loving the insightful approach to your videos
Hey Emma, could you please make a video on down jackets and other 'real' winter clothing, which the majority of people in Europe wear for at least 6 months in a year? Greetings from Germany!
👋
@@Vattaway gf
I live in Denmark, in Aarhus where Rains is from - and litterally EVERYONE wears Rains. I have 3 of their coats and 3 of their bags. But they are that good! Excellent quality and not too expensive
Love this! Most outfits on social media a not practical enough for me in autumn/ winter. I ride my bike every day to work and walk With the kids etc. So, Thank you.
When I worked at a dry cleaners, we waterproofed raincoats for quite a bit of money by spraying them outside (because of the stink) with Scotchguard. Spray on a really heavy coat of spray so that it looks wet, really wet, then leave outside to dry.
Loved this Emma. So realistic and refreshing. These days I have no time for impracticalities. And this has actually made me excited to dress for wet Irish weather!
This is priceless Emma, living in Ireland it’s exactly the kind of weather we get a lot and I often get it wrong and get soaked 🙈
Same in Florida tons of rain ☔️ but we had a drought so we really need it soooo bad I get soaked too
A lot of Irish live in Washington State because the weather is so similar to Ireland. Washington is known as the Evergreen State because of the..... rain.
I LOOOOOOVE that you are knowledgeable about fabric, sustainability AND style. You’re wonderful. I’d love if you’d do a video that touched on size inclusivity-your approach to content would be so great in that space (even just for one video) :)
Me watching from south east asia country where people usually just wear rubber slippers and roll up our jeans/trousers during rain: 👁️👄👁️💧
Hi from Chicago! This is an extremely helpful video! We get what I would say is a normal amount of rain but the wind makes umbrellas
a nightmare on rainy days so most Chicagoans don’t even bother. These raincoat options are a big help with finding outerwear that will withstand the rain sans an umbrella...oh and the snow, now that we get a lot of in the winter months 😖
This video is a masterclass in the real life application of fashion - bravo!
You and Simon are absolutely killing it! The video is so informative and visually stunning, I can't get enough of it!
Thank you ❤️ glad your enjoying them ❤️
Barbour jacket!! Best investment I've ever made :)
This video was GREAT! Even though I live in Scandinavia I struggle with looking fab in the rain. Another Scandi brand that does sustainable rainwear is Tretorn, they have an Eco essentials line and make waterproof rain wear - it's one of my faves. That COS coat though, I must try it ❤️
Can you please do a video on puff coats/very cold weather coats 🙏💕love your channel ❤️
Thanks for the brolly and shoe spray recommendations. Definitely needed! I have been walking around with a child size/bag friendly umbrella for the past 2 years and am fed up with my arms getting wet.
The French brand Aigle is also very good for rain apparel and boots.
I'm a new yorker so you live in the weather here. Rain, snow you are constantly exposed to the elements this is a real function & style video i NEEDED thank you!!!
Great video! Can always count on you for stylish AND practical tips!
Thanks for sharing your picks!! Really great to see you endorsing quality and functionality built into good designs!
So as wool coats and blazers are to you, rain coats are for me. Here's my unsolicited list of things that I've found useful after having tried and tested a bunch in the past 20 years:
Longer coats include a cotton trench from Banana Republic (10 y.o. but in fantastic condition, and in an excellent petite cut, option: J.Crew also has a very well-priced and good quality trench, and comes in P sizing too); a lululemon hooded coat in maroon with all the pockets; J.crew "perfect rain jacket" in navy; Eddie Bauer in army green.
Shorter jackets include an Aigle in a lovely umber colour with a "hurricane" hood, a light grey Fjallraven with coated canvas, and a tan/orange Fjallraven wind breaker.
Boots I have both a mid calf and knee high Hunters, also an insulated pair from Sorel.
Umbrellas I can recommend Marimekko, with their beautiful and mood lifting, standout in a crowd prints.
"Rain bags" I have Longchamp bags in various colours; Rapha messengers, backpacks. The rain here eats leather bags for breakfast.
Yes, seems I have a ton of rain gear, but living in the Pacific Northwest, it's a bit of a necessity ;) Thanks again for another excellent vid!!
Another great video. Thanks Emma. The best umbrella I have ever had is by Blunt. New Zealand can get seriously windy and I used to go through a new umbrella every year. However with Blunt, I have had mine for a good 5 years plus and it is still going strong storm after storm.
Thank you so much! I already ordered some of your winter coat recommendations to try on and really needed some rainy weather recommendations. Perfect timing and I love all the pricing options!! Xo from Brooklyn, NY!
The Cos raincoat is perfect for the type of rainy weather we have in the eastern US. Just purchased, thanks so much for the wonderful video demonstrating the movement and design.
Real, practical advice. So many people here are already saying it so I won’t dwell On it. Thank you!!! All of my trenchcoats are vintage London fog with wool liners. One of them is a lighter coat with a hood and balloon sleeves! Just a thin liner and lighter weight so perfect for spring and early fall. I love the brand and it’s affordable quality. I will be spraying my coats this spring and before the winter. I live in a northwestern state in the US where we get a lot of wet weather. I love trenchcoats, even though no one here wears them, because they protect you so much more than the average coat!
Great video. I have a raincoat that looks like a very simple version of a trenchcoat with a hood that I found two years ago in Aldi for 15€ for which I get compliments and questions where I bought it. I love it since it looks good and it’s a low maintenance item, I just toss it into a washing machine without worrying, and whenever I wear it, I don’t have to carry an umbrella. The only thing I miss, is an inner pocket.
I love this video style where we see you speaking. I enjoy all your videos but this is my fave format. Thanks for the heads up on the scandi brands I hadn’t heard of. That COS raincoat looks so practical and chic!
Yes wet weather here in Europe especially. Yet it can actually be a pleasure if you have stylish wear. Thanks for another clear and helpful video.
Fantastic video Emma! Such a useful topic and often neglected. Definitely buying that umbrella as I've had many umbrella carnage moments myself.
This is the greatest idea for a video, I’ve really been struggling with rain wear that looks good. So this is incredibly useful! I might have to buy your cos coat...
What a unique and well thought out video. So useful - great content as usual Emma!
If you're looking for a really waterproof rain jacket and don't mind the more classic (but still nice looking) boxy rain jacket style, Helly Hansen's "Moss" rain jacket is great. I have it in the "forest night" shade and IMO it looks quite pretty. Bonus that it's pretty affordable/good value.
hello from Vancouver. "Everyone" lives in Blundstones here in fall/winter/spring. When you go to someone's house, you have to be careful you actually put on your own shoes when you leave hahaha
🤣🤣
Great Aussie brand!
Love them, great alternative to wellies, they are a ‘proper’ boot but can withstand anything and I wear them for dog walking every day in the UK!
Best fashion channel on YT right now - thank you both!!
Excellent content Emma! Who knew I could be fashionable in miserably rainy weather ...
Such a fab video Emma! Very well thought out with some amazing finds & brands I hadn’t heard of. Thank you
This is so practical and well done. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge and research. I dread the rainy days here in Northern California. I have a decent rain coat and boots but I don't mind upgrading those when possible. Sending endless blessings and well wishes xo
I love my Hunter and Joules boots and I think Longchamp Le pliage bag is great for rain. I left mine in the pouring rain and everything was dry inside. Love your videos as always.
Thank you Emma for this thorough video! Right now, the raindrops are tapping on my window.. In the summer time, I wear a foldable, water resistant sports jacket over my clothes. In autumn/winter I prefer to wear a warm, water repellent hooded parka. In my car I have an inside out umbrella. Not yet tried .. Other brands with coats/shoes/bags with rain resistant/water repellent characters: Rain Couture, Elvine, Maium, Selfhood, Boomboogie, Tretorn, Joules, Danefae, Derbe, Happy Rainy Days, Grünbag. X
A very useful guide to practical rainwear. Personally,I was very lucky on my last visit to England to find a great gabardine long length raincoat with a ‘Barbour’ style cape collar and detachable hood , fully lined and very stylish in a garden centre! I am based in the south-west where we have a multitude of rural styled outfitters so I felt this was ideal and it only cost me £75 !!
My all time favorite wet weather shoes are Aquatalia and Blondo in that order. Aquatalia makes great leather and suede shoes meant to be worn in bad weather. They even have waterproof high heels so you don’t have to switch, or worry in a surprise shower. I have a pair of leather boots from them that have lasted through several years of rain and salty snow in NYC and are still perfect. I also have a couple pairs of Blondo ankle boots that are also waterproof. I really like having waterproof footwear options that look like normal shoes rather than looking waterproof (though I love my Hunters too.)
Ditto to Blondo boots 👌
Brilliant video Emma! Thanks so much for all the recommendations - it always rains on the school run and I have to wait around in the morning and the afternoon as my little ones have to be dropped off and picked up at different times so I'm always being rained on ☔️ 😂 Xx
Such useful content! I have been searching this topic all over and I'm surprised more people don't talk about this, real life people! We want to be stylish and still practical
I live in Oregon USA and it is rainy here so these are really really good ideas and information that I appreciate so much since I am coming from a very dry desert area, such as Arizona, which I knew nothing about rainy weather attire, so thank you very, very much! Love all your videos and I'm trying to find the items that I want in my wardrobe, so I'm on a mission to accomplish all of that soon, because I just love your style and quality of items that you choose and I'm very grateful for the advice that you give on taking care of the items, as well. 🤗❤️
Great video Emma really accurate and precise! Also great tips! Thank you so much 👍🏽
I need so much help with how look nice in the rain, especially when it’s warm out but raining. I’m excited about this video!!
Love the way you present in your videos. You sound so natural and approachable. Its great to listen to you.
Praise to the good brolly!
This honestly one of the most helpful styling videos out there. Thank you 🙏🏻 🥰
Living in Amsterdam and I recently discovered Kepe Wear, Dutch brand just like Rains but very classy
what an amazing work you're doing, thank you very much. I'm following just for a week now and I've learnt so much since.
What a great help! I live in Texas, and we have quite a bit of rain to manage at certain times of year. I recently purchased a weatherproof Chelsea boot and am so pleased! I suspect I’ll bring them along on my next London trip. All best to you for such wonderful videos, always. 😊
Oh you will definitely need waterproof gear for London 🤣 Almost any time of year 🤣
Thank you so much for this video😍 Always wanted a video on fashionable rain wear❤️
Love love love this video! Finally a UA-camr with good senses and practical tips. More of videos like this please
Thank you ❤️
Great video. I have a Rains long jacket and I wouldn’t be without it. Absolutely great brand! Loving the content Emma ♥️
Yes!! Have been needing a video like this recently. Thanks so much! :)
love this Emma, some nice ideas and stylish options for our most relevant weather up here in the lake district. I have a nice rubber jacket from Next they did in the last couple of years and its great if anyone wanted an even cheaper option. xx
I love your sense of humour Emma :) you’re so funny and entertaining without trying to be. I’m moving to the UK from Australia soon so this is great advice. I don’t even own a raincoat at the moment!!
Visually beautiful video!
I have come to love Stutterheim raincoats. I have 2 of their lightweight coats because they are perfect for steamy summer rainstorms in Florida. However, I wore them in London last summer too, and they were packable and indispensable.
I love Rains! I own two of their jackets. Their headquarter is right next to my workplace and we do business with them from time to time. I really rate their things. Danes know rainy weather :)
I love that your description box is always so detailed!!!! ❤️ Great video, the weather is normally super wet here in Scandinavia where I live. Probably why 2 of the rain coat companies where founded here in Denmark 😅 x
Yay! Thank you for this, I'm definitely one of the desperate Seattleites that asked you for this!
Settled down to watch on a slow Sunday morning and realised my cup was empty! Sake... let’s get the kettle on everybody ☕️ ☔️ ☕️ nice to see you Emma, great video idea choice 😌 xx
I live on the Texas high plains. A few times a year it will absolutely pour, but not often enough for anyone to buy a rain coat. I love the sound of rain, but don’t miss the humidity of east coast Texas!
Thank you for this! I actually went out and purchased the tall slim Hunter boots after your video last week, as the weather in Toronto has been GLOOMY to say the least. They're perfect and just about as fashionable as rain boots can get. As you said, perfect for walking the dogs! Thank you xx
Glad you like them 👍
Gosh I love aaaalll of it!! Umbrella and Judith dupe ordered ☑️ I have been pining over Judith for so long but have been putting all my money into my flat for the last year so I really look forward to testing out a more affordable one before taking the plunge next year potentially. Thanks for all your great tips today and always 😍🤩
I love the Rains bags too...I have a couple of their bum bags and great for any bad weather! Great suggestions!
Great topic !!!! I have just bought a Barbour quilted coat for cold days and fitted wax coat I absolutely love them both but living in Scotland I deserve it !!!! Lol
I plan on visiting Scotland in late July/early August. What type of coats do you recommend we bring for our trip? I appreciate any clothing tips that you can provide for us.
Hi Emma I love your content! This is actually one of your best videos in my opinion ☺️ I am Portuguese and living in U.K. sometimes is such a challenge considering the weather specially during this season when we don’t know what to wear 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks please keep doing these amazing videos
When I got my burberry trench dry cleaned, ai also got it re-proofed at the cleaners.
I've recently moved back to British Columbia in Canada and I now live on Vancouver Island where it rains...a lot. I'm storing my cold winter wear and looking for rain wear that is practical and hopefully looks nice so this is a good video for me. 👍
I love your style and the way you take care of them, I will be shopping from your page. Great video.
Hi Emma. I just bought the COS raincoat, it’s fabulous! Full length, the cape everything is great. Thanks putting me onto it!
No problem, glad you like it ❤️
I like LaCanadienne boots too they are waterproof and great in the snow. Loved the video...
Hi Emma. Thanks for the video. I recommend Burberry (an all time classic never bettered), Arket fishtail parka & I’ve heard good things about Rains. I’d also add Barbour wax jackets & the old vintage Army & Navy Khaki hooded jackets which tend to keep you bone dry in torrential downpours. With parkas or any type of raincoats I’d always get one with a hood in case I forget my umbrella, one that is adjustable at waist, hem & hood, inside pockets and is slightly oversized to take chunky knits and gilets underneath.
Very timely emma. Always love your content! Best regards from Germany. 💕
Excellent video. Thanks for all the great suggestions. That Loewe bag sure is beautiful.🥰
In North of Portugal it rains quite a lot too, so this is very useful! Thank you!
Thank you so much Emma
Somehow it's nice to see that not everyone lives under the sun ☀ thanks for making rain styles ☔
I always wake up on rainy days and scratch my head as to what to wear. This video is an answer to my prayers! 😉
Love the classic pieces! Great tips as well :)
That clear rain purse is hilarious 😂 I have been caught in the rain and fund myself ticking my purse into my shirt or coat like is a baby 😂 great video!
Love this! Such informative and practical tips.
🤣 The Umbrella 🌂 "brolly" segment had me in stitches. I have the 'inflatable ' version too. Actually, I have 2, 1 in the car & 1 in my purse.
Thanks for the other bits about rainy day gear.
Yes! Vancouver rain! Appreciate this!
The worst in wet weather is my fine hair. Recently I discover color wow dream coat, that helps, but doesn't miracles. 😊
Perfect! It's raining here, and didn't know what to put on!
Not to forget the Stutterheim raincoats. Quite pricy but so good and minimalistic!!
Love them! Was about to comment on this, too.
Love all these tips! I'm in the Pacific NW of the US. Patagonia is almost a uniform brand here. And it rates "Good" on the Good On You app (for sustainable, ethical, etc). No umbrellas here- it's the sign of a tourist (hoods instead) 😊
@lisap3.2 greetings from Seattle, this is the first year I've decided, I don't care if people think I'm a tourist, I want to look GOOD. lol!
BRGN specialises in technical, waterproof fashion wear as well. Skandi brand seff. 😉 Looks like great investment pieces.
Great video Emma very informative with style and prices I loved it! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hi Emma that was so informative thanks ..I would highly recommend the uniqlo umbrella it's amazing wind proof!! If had mine for years as have my kids never breaks in wind blown inside out so many times but totally never breaks 10 stars !!!!!!
Yes for this video!! Fab as always Emma! 💕💫xx
When I lived in London I always had an umbrella! Once I moved to the Midlands I stopped using them as they're useless, as the winds there were just too strong! I live in Yorkshire now and I don't think it is as windy here, maybe I should give one a go again. Lincolnshire is very flat so they're just not practical 🙈 - I got through a lot of them.
Hi Emma. Great video and just what I needed to watch for this upcoming week. Where I live in Canada we are prone to unexpected rain or showers or sunshowers. It sort of makes it difficult to plan and prepare for the rain. If the day begins with rain it may be completely beautiful in an hour or two and there I am walking around in a raincoat and rubber boots. So, next time the raincoat and rubber boots stay home and the rain does not stop all day and I am left sopping wet. I do have a more transitional type of raincoat for that kind of day but if it gets too hot I need to remove that coat and now I am walking around coatless and carrying my coat. I just can't win. I do find that on rainy days I prefer to wear a skirt or dress so that I don't need to worry about wet and ruined pant legs. I don't recall the brand name of a popular raincoat in Canada but it is reversible, bright yellow on one side and an ugly army green on the other side. It is the type used by the fisherman in the Maritimes. However, there is no lining and is too cold during Autumn and Winter. And, it has a hood. Great tips regarding the umbrella. I never gave much thought to those details. I love your accent and enjoy your videos. Keep up the great work.
Yes we have been fortunate enough to witness the quick changes in Canadian weather. One minute glorious sun, the next a snow shower 🤣🙈
Good morning from Greece Emma! Very helpful video, you are so funny!
Thank goodness for this video 🙏 so relatable as I also live in the UK in fact 20 min from London by fast track train service so I’m quite near to you Emma! I highly recommend Burberry taffeta trench coat. The material is waterproof, but it still looks as classic Burberry coat. And it comes with hood. It’s way more cheaper version to gabardine trench coats however I noticed huge price increases since I bought mine 2 years ago. Try looking 2nd hand as I do not believe it’s worth it’s ‘new’ price tag its better to pay full price for gabardine trench coat instead or head to Bicester Village if you live close enough.
Love this; practical and relevant tips and advice. Immensely useful.
Your outtakes on Instagram 🤣🤣🤣 I’m #7 😂. Your hair is getting long girl💁🏻♀️. Thank you for another great video🖤
It’s about to be La Nina in Australia, meaning A LOT of rain this summer. So I am very much in need of this video considering it’s raining right now and all this week 😅
thank you Emma! a video the people need!!
