Normally i dont mind sponsorings. I am glad that you are doing well. but sport betting companies/online casinos are absolutely disgusting. it is worse than promoting crystal meth. people get highly addicted and lose everything and many take their own life. I know they all pay very very well but there are some things that are more important than money.
I can't wait to see Finn's crystal meth sponsorship add - I don't care what he sells lol
Same
Corey Taylor
I had AOL
So, I fell down a rabbit hole and watched several live streams of Noah he did during quarantine and he mentions on one of them that the main reason he pulled out of social media is because somehow a fractional part of the fan base found out where he lived and began showing up at his house. He mentions in one of the interviews that he sometimes wishes that he could take a minute to himself and disappear. I just empathize with the guy, he’s a different breed of man and these women (it’s women) literally harass him and the band on the regular. I’m like lord, let the man live in your dreams privately and let him live out his dream with his friends by creating the therapeutic art that they do, and be grateful they want to share it with us.
They wrote an absolutely killer album that expanded beyond the metalcore genre. Lots of bands try this but very few that do it well. The ones that do it well, BMTH, Bad Omen, Sleep Token etc explode because they are drawing from outside the core world
Those are 100% the big 3 that are doing it
Absolutely! I agree with both of you commentators! :)
I couldn’t disagree more. Bad Omens and Sleep Token would have never blown up without Tik Tok. It’s just right chorus at the right time. There is a major difference between blowing up on UA-cam and r/metalcore and blowing up on tiktok. They got extremely lucky with the tik tok traction.
@@IRLtrolls they're also incredible songwriters so that helps
@@_nuclearnoodle_5757 I disagree. I don’t think they are anything special. Dethrone was a decent metalcore song. Everything else was pretty buttrock
I watched Bad Omens live at Knotfest this year and the singer was crazy good probably the actual best pure vocalist talent on that whole ticket
I saw them spring of last year supporting Underoath and that was my exact thought. I'm happy that opening act was my introduction to them a great first impression.
Besides Cory of course lol
I can confirm, if you are 40 or older then by law you must be angry at Noah for reminding you of your glory days that will never return. But hey, at least now you can officially enjoy Jump Around!
At least we have something to live for 😞
Yes, I think it's ironic how (some) people are doing exactly what Noah has said not to do. I find him very refreshing bc he's not obsessed with social media & is very obviously "old at heart." That, along with his incredibly insightful lyrics & unique genre-blending style, is why I love Bad Omens. While their first 2 albums are good, I never got into them until TDOPOM. And I find that album to be a true masterpiece.
As to why people are truly OBSESSING with them... I think there are a whole host of reasons: excellent lyrics, stunning vocals, attractive frontman (& being half Japanese, he's more unique looking than your average rock/metal singer), excellent marketing (including their merch drops), & pop influenced song structures. I respect Noah so much for encouraging people not to obsess over him & the band, but unfortunately people keep doing the same unhealthy behaviors...
Wait he’s half Japanese I guess you learn something new everyday lol
@@undeadbane4097 yes, you can find some old interviews where he talked about his dad being Japanese.
@@rebekahcarter8120 I definitely will find and watch them after I finish calming down and touching grass (like literally) especially after watching this video I needed it 😪
I’ve been a fan since their first album and never knew this lol
@@verytrusfrated you mean being half Japanese? Yeah, there is an old stream where he talked about his dad being Japanese. I actually thought he was 100% Asian initially, though I did wonder if one of his parents was white bc of the non Asian name & bc of the conservative Christian grandparents he has referenced over the years. I'm actually not sure that he has ever said his mother was white but I think she must have been. In that old stream, he said he used to post obscure pictures of Jackie Chan & claim they were his dad but it was all a joke to see what people would believe.
I’ve been a Bad Omens fan since their debut self titled album in 2016. To watch them become as big as they are now, is incredible. They’re making the best music they’ve ever done, and it’s cool to see new fans coming a long.
There was a good while in 2022 where all I listened to was Bad Omens. Extremely versatile with their newer stuff and Noah has one of the best voices in any genre. It's kind of mind blowing how much range Noah has. I've also met the guys on a few occasions (they sometimes hang out with the fans at the merch booth), all of them were super nice and very humble and were down to talk about literally anything nerdy.
Been a fan since 2017 when they came in my algorithm over and over. For a couple of months they were ”the band with the cute singer”, but when I actually checked them out I was impressed by what I found. Noah (and the band) are really talented and they deserve the acknowledgement they finally got.
I never looked into the fanbase before, but it’s disturbing. It’s a fight between the crazy fans and Noah’s online bodyguards. People are being called out for invading Noah’s privacy for touching him on the stage when they are standing in the front row.
Kick em like Kevin Gates
Alot of his "fans" from what ive seen is all posers that just find him attractive and thats great for building an audience and getting big its just sad to stand there and witness the music that the band busts there ass to make, go unappreciated. And honestly if i was there frontman id be pissed by that cause ive been in 3 bands now and never was i doing what i did for a fan base of crazy people who dont even care about the music bet at least 75 percent of the fan base can only tell you 3 songs if that and theyre probably all the newest mainstreamed songs. Sad
You should get Noah on your podcast Finn. I remember in an interview him mentioning he watched one of your videos on TikTok’s impact on music.
Oh wow! That’s awesome to hear
@@FinnMckentyPRMBAhe totally did mention your podcast in an interview.
As a huge fan of them, it sucks that a handful of weird fans is giving the entire fandom a bad rap
This happens with most groups that get big
Agreed. Fortunately, it's a pretty small group of them. But the ones that are weird are REAL weird.
I agree.
I feel the fan base can ruin things. I really like Artificial Suicide, Dethrone, & Glass Houses, but just don't want the songs to be ruined especially if it's on everyone's TikTok(Being Shared every 5 minutes)
@@chadhenry961 BMTH went through the same if not worse back in the day
I'm a huge Sleep Token fan and can confirm some of the Fandom is kinda starting to get this way about Vessel. I don't think it has quite reached Noah from Bad Omens levels yet, and I really hope it doesn't. But I have concerns it might. I think they are about to have another huge viral moment once TikTok gets ahold of the whole "Lipstick, Chemtrails, Red Flags, Pink Nails..." section of Ascenionism. It'll be something, for sure.
_DAE wOrShIp vESsEL bAE?_
Welp, you called it.
I'm a 52 year old woman, and it makes me angry how good-looking Noah is, too!! 😄 Joking aside, they're phenomenal musicians...saw them live 2x last year, and will be seeing them again in Oct. Based on the stan accounts that have exploded in the last several months, I'm fully prepared for even more sobbing fans screaming, "I love you, Noah!!" at the show. Yeah...I sound like a geezer, but it's pretty clear some of these fans have crossed into unhealthy territory.
I saw Invent Animate, Erra, and Bad Omens as the headliner on Thursday.
I was mainly there for the first two. Really enjoy Bad Omens but was absolutely floored by how popular they were. I had no idea how big they truly were. It truly felt like BMTH post Sempiternal in 2013-2015.
So many high school and early college girls that you normally wouldn’t see at a metal/metalcore show. Plenty very annoyed by seeing me, guy in my 30s, go crazy for IA and Erra. Just crazy.
This is what worries me about seeing them. The activity of the crowd being low from the out of the genre people being there.
@@takers031491 There are always out of genre people at shows that discover a new band they like though. So you always have to appreciate that.
Saw bad omens with underoath and to say they crushed it is an understatement. Ridiculous production value for a non-headliner at the time and Noah was fantastic live. Pulled out some absolutely disgusting growls that I don't think I've ever heard them do on an album.
Yo I met Noah Sebastian about a month ago and he was really cool. He told me about the time he and the band went to space and got involved in a planetary conflict where the only way they could stop a war was to play a concert for the people of the planets. And then they went out for pizza
Haha
Seeing that all this is happening, and that Noah doesn't want any of it... it's just really sad. You can be a fan without being obsessed.
Edit: That comment about MiW having a bit of that fanbase reminds me of the Trinity of Terror tour. While waiting to get in, the amount of people who made some pretty over the top comments about MiW, and especially BVB, was really weird. Funny enough, almost no one was saying anything about INK.
You made good points about bands not being influenced only by their own genre.
No way Nine Inch Nails would be where they are if Trent Reznor only listened to the industrial bands on that scene instead of letting the influences of Prince and Bowie on his work.
Also, the parasocial thing with Bad Omens it's really weird. It really got worse after they blew up, but it was already a thing years before that. I might be wrong but I think the address incident was even before the pandemic (or during it).
I'm sure this makes Sleep Token feel a lot better about not revealing their identities
Nah, lol. As we’ve now seen all that does is make their fans want to find it even more. It’s this wanting what they can’t have thing. I think it Noah was more active on social media perhaps his fans wouldn’t be so desperate to fill in their own blanks and go so crazy
Saw them on a reaction channel in 2020 and loved their sound instantly, idc about their personal life I just wanna hear their music and see the band live
Why don't we agree to call it "Alternative Metal"?
To that last point about the fans being dicks to other fans, saw it myself at the Irving Plaza show last fall when Noah had to ask people to stop fighting.
stan culture is honest to god terrifying. Like with the stalking, I swear some guy had to get a restraining order a while back because he was stalking Lana Del Rey. Cultish fans are honest to god terrifying and turn people off from the music.
I think it was extreme helpful that Wednesday was huge on Netflix and Jenna Ortega announced they’re her favorite band
Oh I didn’t know about that! Big moment
She never said that… in fact if you look it up like I just did she said nine inch nails, daft punk, and deftones are her favorites.
@@cambrowndrums no that was an actual article and she has mentioned songs by all of them in interviews, there’s nothing about bad omens at all. That would be sick if she shouted them out, but I haven’t found anything about her saying that.
@@cambrowndrums my fault bro, I misunderstood. 🤘
There's so much strategy that goes into pop, most really don't grasp how mathematical it is. There's a reason why a lot of kpop fans are also Bad Omens fans. Kpop has some of the most technical and strategic production and writing found in pop music today. If you look into a lot of the noisier kpop (groups like Ateez, Stray Kids, TXT, Dreamcatcher, etc) you'll notice they often combine darker sounding elements with catchy pop hooks. It creates a sound that draws in listeners of various genres. With Noah being a fan of pop and hip hop, he is very aware of these strategies. He's been able to draw in listeners from so many different genres. We haven't had a band who has effectively combined metal, industrial, and pop this well since NIN. The music industry desperately needed Bad Omens, and that is why they are doing so well. Their music is heavy, but it's also digestible. It's strategic, but it doesn't come across as vacant. I could show non-metal fans Bad Omens and expect they'd like at least one song. You can't say that about a band unless the music really is just that good. And they are. Bad Omens is just really fucking good music, and they filled the void of a sound we haven't heard in a long time.
Noah also looks like a kpop singer since hes had shorter hair, so that may also be part of why he has crossover with that crowd
That’s a great point. Noah is half-Asian too
@@Frederick0220 I never knew that
@@chadhenry961 Yup. Half Japanese.
Bad Omens is my favorite band and I listen to them on repeat. I haven't seen them live nor do I know when I will. They inspire me but I cannot imagine worshipping anyone
I thought it was a joke that they sold out a 3K cap venue in my town as soon as they became available. There are much bigger bands playing the same venue who have tickets up until day of show.
Oli Sykes clearly had obsessive fans back in the day. Man, the number of musicians in metalcore bands that were trying to replicate his looks...
Noah, clearly is today's Oli Sykes.
I guess some of this comes from the image they project. They (unintentionally?) just nail it. It's "pretty boy on a poster included in a magazine for teenagers" effective.
I've never heard of them until less than a week ago on an IG ad. with Bad Omens playing the song "Just Pretend" live & I fell in love with their sound. I haven't looked back since.
You can't help but feel for the band. They could have easily played up the parascoail aspects to gain more money and fame. There are countless streamers and influencers who have done this. But Noah has been vocal from Day 1 to call out this toxic behavior, and continues to do so. Point being, clearly they just want to make music and have a successful career. Even if you don't care for their type of music, you have to feel empathy for that.
I don't want to make this into a "double standards" argument. But I have definitely noticed an uptick in female fans being overly sexual towards male singers in the last 10 years. While this has always been a thing (such as the Myspace era), I feel like the gross objectifacton, or sexual obsession over male artist has gotten a lot worse on social media echo chambers like TikTok. I've even seen female fans try to a grab singers junk at concerts before.
I know most of us don't like Brendan Urie from Panic at the Disco (and he also got into hot water for his behavior), but I remember he had to release a statement begging fans to stop grabbing his body at shows. The fact that a major artist has to do that in 2019 is disturbing as hell. I guess I just wish that this topic was talked about more. Sometimes it just feels like male singers don't get the same amount of attention when they are being sexually objectified.
I played bass in a little band in Colorado during the MySpace Era. Sadly, we only played a dozen shows before all going our separate ways. During one show this girl ran up onstage and literally tried to stick her hand down my pants. I was 22 at the time, turned out she was 15. I get creeped out just talking about it 😕
Excellent points!
I went to the Sumerian 10 Year Tour and had heard them a little bit before the show when The Worst In Me mv dropped and was immediately hooked. Warped tour the year after I was standing in a crowd at one of the stages cuz my friends were watching some random band, I turn to my right and Noah is just standing next to me hangin out lol he was so nice when I started talking to him for a little bit but I didn’t wanna bother him too much so I quickly let him just go back to enjoying the show! But imagine my shock when I just saw him standing there lol it was really cool to see!
Been a fan since their first album. I was not surprised at all to see TDOPOM be a breakout album. If anything, I sort of expected it to be. Like them or not, Noah’s vocals are top notch, they’re great song writers, catchy choruses, they make a little something for everybody (heavy, soft, metal, radio rock, breakdowns), and they play incredibly tight live. Most of all, their music is accessible to people outside of rock. Almost everyone I show this band to, is surprised or at least finds them enjoyable. Sure, some of their music may be too “generic” and I wish they would experiment a bit more, but they are absolutely one of the best modern rock/metal bands. At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if they got hired for movie soundtracks like Linkin Park in Transformers lol
I'd never heard of them before catching them open for Ice Nine Kills live a year or two ago, and I thought they were cool. But over the next few days and weeks, I began obsessively listening to their music. For a while it was all I listened to. At the concert, I was standing near a group of overly enthusiastic, self-admitted Satanists, w/ Occult tattoos and screaming "Hail Satan" and what not. Afterward, I couldn't help but notice all the lyrics that were about Hell, the Devil and anti-religious in general. I started adding up the variables and, Given how obsessive I became after seeing them live once, I started wondering if the music had sublimely messages... Maybe that's why I was so crazy about their music... Finally I realized it was because they were really just that fucking good. 😂
Such a talented band. I saw them live twice and their headlining show was one of the best I’ve been too. Between the production, Noah’s vocals, and the energy they brought was sm fun ☺️
Their tribute to Too Close To Touch really blew them up. The story of Too Close To Touch is so tragic. Noah Sebastian also said he drew influence from the singer Keaton Pierce (RIP)
Finn I’m so glad that you brought up the MySpace Era. When I was thinking about Bad Omens obsessive fans my mind immediately went back to the MySpace era where I will point out one example during the Avenged Sevenfold City of Evil era where there were MySpace profiles of the each of the bands girlfriends and wives and other stuff involving them. I followed those profiles not thinking much of it but now I look back and I’m like that was obsessive fan behavior.
As a Bad Omens fan myself I think it’s really uncool to make up stories and find the band members addresses. I actually feel really bad for any famous person that has to deal with obsessive fans.
I love, admire, and respect Noah Sebastian and the other band members a lot. Bad Omens has changed my life a lot. TDOPOM has one of the best lyrics I’ve ever heard on songs before. I discovered Bad Omens when I saw Noah Sebastian perform Holy Roller with Spiritbox in Los Angeles and I was blown away by his screaming and his stage presence.
Bad Omens deserve all of the success in the world. ❤
I had never heard of bad omens until I saw them open for Spiritbox about a year and a half ago but was immediately hooked on them after seeing them live. Then the tik tok stuff happened about a year later.
I'm now gonna use "Devin Slockbower says" as my producer tag. Thanks Finn!!
I was just talking about this. I'm a fan but it really has become an OBSESSION among people. Noah is beautiful but like is it because he is or because it's in the thousands of comments on EVERY SINGLE video/photo there is of this band?? Like are they THAT GOOD and he is THAT talented? Or is it band wagon/ regurgitated behavior?? I do think they are insanely talented but it's bizarre how quickly they have rised to fame. It seems that noah sebastian was not prepared for it and I wouldn't say he dislikes it but I think he just wanted to make badass music not become like a major "sex symbol" among this community of music.
I have been waiting for you to talk about Bad Omens!! I discovered them a couple years ago!! Thank you 🖤
I think that apart from Noah’s looks the obsession comes from how relatively young the band members are. Before really getting into rock/metal I was into 5sos and I think parallels can be drawn with Bad Omens stans, it seems to me they feel close to the band because the band members are not much older than them and because they’re not huge, they seem "approchable". The fact that Noah’s lyrics are very personal also reinforces that parasocial aspect I think.
It’s cool he tries to put a stop to the weird obsession and it seems their management isn’t pushing that personality cult. But I don’t think you can prevent people from making your music their whole life, especially when they’re going through a hard time and the music they listen to make them feel seen/understood but also gives them something to be excited about.
Anyway, I’ve listened to a few of songs from them and I can see why they’ve exploded, they make good music.
Great take Finn. I’ve been wondering about these dudes and haven’t dug deep until watching this. It’s such a paradox with fans too.. of course an artist and the fans are a symbiotic relationship.. in this case and many others, it can take a dark turn and I think that’s more to do with what’s going on in these individual’s lives and whatever trauma or mental health issues are involved. Nowadays it’s more prevalent and sadly getting worse..
Possibly the fact they were on paradise city tv show that followed American Satan? Or it at least helped the rise, he voices cameron boyce's character
They managed to hit that sweet spot of keeping their fans in the scene and drawing in people from outside of it. Good to see, honestly. I've been a fan for a while
Bad Omens will be at Louder than Life with other big hitters recently such as Sleep Token, Movements, Turnstile, and Falling in Reverse!
The 10 years in the black tour was my first real concert. Was so exciting too see Danny come back to Asking. But by far the best band besides them was Bad Omens (who were the first band of the night). Really cool first concert experience
When they started blowing up I thought everyone was talking about Bad Wolves lmao I was so confused.
I noticed them the first time when the music video for Be Careful What You Wish For came out. Took me a while to get into their other songs, but I love their heavier stuff. Glad they're gaining popularity!
I still have my band shirt that I got from warped tour when I saw them on the small stage
Love their latest album and definitely put this band on my radar. Excited to check them out this next weekend at Pointfest
Im a recent fan of Bad Omens and the first song I heard from them was The Grey and I absolutely fell in love with the song. The more I listened to their songs the more and more I loved them. Not gonna lie I don't really get too into bands since I don't like to idolize, but Noah is someone I respect for his craft and seems like an honest and cool person! I didn't know they were inspired by BMTH but listening to it now I definitely hear it. Gald they're doing their own style but I think a collab would be awwwsome
Same here. I've found the live version where the camera is put next to Nick and it blew me away. Also with what energy he plays. I think he's underrated. I never had read his name before.
Bad Omens is the best indoor live show right now.
Bad Omens, to me, is like a Metalcore Beartooth.
They started out as Metalcore then slowly shifted sounds in a way that didn’t alienate their fans. And each album has a nice flow of Metalcore, pop, and hard rock vibes filled with a lot of really big and catchy choruses. Noah is no Caleb, but he’s up there (all in my own opinion of course). And I absolutely love them! Wish I could’ve heard about them sooner than 6 months ago. Really talented group and phenomenal writing.
I can also really appreciate Noah’s honesty in interviews. Like letting everyone know that, I can’t remember the specific song, but their biggest hit off of “The Death of Peace of Mind” started out ironically. For them to show how easy it is to follow the standard pop/hard rock radio formula. But then as the project went along they were like, “oh shit, we have something here. Let’s take it serious for a min” and it became their biggest hit to date 🤣
13:34 😂lol your commentary about the shirt but also damn I didn’t know any of this went down, I saw Nik’s coverage of this video but I don’t think he covered this pull out drama
luv the fact that he post more frequently
I got into these guys fairly recently. I think there’s 2-3 songs I like from them. I looked at some of the comments under one of their videos and there was TONS of comments in Russian. That’s when I realized they had permeated beyond the normal metalcore circles. Good for them!
There's actually quite a few bands that weirdly have a very active Russian fanbase. Like even bigger then their fanbase from US or Europe. Adept for example had bigger shows in Russia then they ever had in US
Holy shit. I had no clue they got so big. I saw them not every long ago live. They were opening for Spirit Box and Underoath for Underoaths Voyersit tour 2022. They were not that big when I saw them, they were dope tho, picked up a shirt, the merch booth had no line, even talked to the merch guy for like 5- 10 mins after the show, everyone was waiting for the other bands merch, he had nobody to help. Thats crazy, I'm happy for them!
He’s right about bands being influenced by other genres. Matt Shadows of A7X said that their new album was influenced by Kanye West’s Yeezus
They started in 2016, so yes it takes a some years to see success. But their popularity actually grew relatively fast.
They’re amazing live, tons of energy and stage presence!
Ah, I’ve seen they’ve joined the “X Band literally save me” group. I haven’t seen this kind of obsession since the tumblr days in the early 2010’s.
I'm obsessed. It took time to get me there. I came upon Bad Omens opening for Bullet for My Valentine. Checked out the self-titled debut and it was..... GOOD. It was nothing special, but had some catchy tunes and was nice to jam out to during my drive home from work. They had also just released a song "Careful What You Wish For" from a yet to be confirmed upcoming new album. That song was better than anything on the self-titled, but much in the same realm and I was... INTERSTED. Fast forward a few months and Finding God Before God Finds Me was released. Decided to check it out with little expectations other than expecting a similar outing to the debut. I was floored. I listened to FGBGFM on repeat for months. It was a weird blend of hardcore metal and softer rock vibes with some really interesting sounds and styles mixed in. The fan base felt it went too "soft", and though I may disagree a bit, you can make a case that it was presented in a very out of balance manner by smushing the heaviest songs smack in the middle while placing the most melodic and experimental around the edges. This was the original release and not the Deluxe Version that would come out much later adding an incredible trio of songs in the hard rock banger Limits, the softer Never Know, and and incredible cover of 80s new wave band Duran Duran's 90's hit Come Undone. Limits and Never Know would become their first charted singles. And if you're really paying attention, Never Know is clearly a track that was written for their third release, The Death of Peace of Mind. It's nearly a carbon copy of tik tok hit Just Pretend. Of course, at this point, I can't wait for more. I'm already obsessed with this band and nobody else seems to be into them. Flash forward several months and suddenly I find out that they've dropped FIVE new songs and an album is just a few weeks away. Concrete Jungle, Artificial Suicide, What Do You Want From Me, The Death of Peace of Mind, and Like a Villain were the tracks. WTF???!!! Artificial Suicide is the heavy banger like Dethrone from FGBGFM or Exit Wounds from BO, but with some weird surprises and electronic elements. What Do You Want From Me is the best Nine Inch Nails Industrial Metal song NIN never had, and the other three combine poppy synth Weeknd vibes with more classic Bad Omens sounds, and not only does it work, but it's amazing!!! The day the album dropped I put in my playlist and gave it a spin. It was.... DIFFERENT. I'm not sure if I like it or not. I'm confused. But I'm compelled to listen again. With each listen I find more and more interesting things that make me want to listen again. I'm still unsure if I like it, but I'm really intrigued. Much like the previous album, TDOPOM was panned by the fanbase as being too "pop" compared to the previous album. And again, I don't entirely disagree and once again they presented it in a very out of balance manner. This time, however, it's the middle that is stacked with the slowest and poppiest stuff while the heavier and more upbeat tracks occupy the front and back, which really makes the middle of the album feel like a bit of a slog if you're listening front to back in order. I would contend that if Limits and Never Know were in there instead of one or two of the lo-fi trio (Bad Decisions, Who Are You, Someone Else), that this album truly might be a front to back masterpiece (it may be, even the way it stands, I just want to illustrate that those awesome songs that were released on the "Deluxe version" of FGBGFM were actually tracks that were written for the TDOPOM, as opposed to being outtakes from FGBGFM). And again, if you were paying attention, they actually shifted their sound to the current style on that second album FGBGFM (NOT including the deluxe version songs that I just mentioned). It just wasn't quite as realized and refined. Lead off song Kingdom of Cards is a vibey tribal experiment without a chorus and never really builds to the type of progression you'd expect from your typical metalcore band. They basically set the scene like, "hey, not gonna be your typically metalcore album here". Yup. Album closer If I'm There is a beautifully dark love letter that really leans into Noah's soft singing voice and showcases Bad Omens ability to lean in the pop direction while still maintaining some of that hardcore punk background. FGBGFM is a great underrated album that really was a pre-cursor to what came next in TDOPOM, which honestly shouldn't be the surprise it was. Yes, Noah's vocals, while solid on the first 2 albums, did take a huge (HUGE) step forward. The guitar and drum work are notably even better and more interesting as well. And the overall production and creativity of the songwriting AND recording has made leaps (Noah just might be one of the best PRODUCERS in rock/metal too!). I became obsessed. Still am. Can't tell you exactly why. I just really love the music and I haven't been so excited about a band's music as I am about Bad Omens in a very long time. I'm so excited to hear what they do next!
My favorite song of theirs is The Grey. I wish the radio would play it on the radio.
I just heard of them last week but chance, I'm definitely not obsessed but I've became a big fan pretty quick, i went through and there is a ton of songs i love by them so I'm very glad by chance i heard Like A Villain and it made me look it up and continue listening to more.
The only problem with them I have is they suddenly started dominating my Spotify. I never searched for them or purposely played anything from them so it's kind of suspicious.
I have not seen the full band live yet but I did see Noah jump on Stage with with Spiritbox for Holy Roller in La. His screams were pretty brutal, twas an epic fucking night.
It's the same thing that happened with Incubus. Singer cut his hair and BAM, just like the movie "She's all that", fans suddenly realized he was actually hot all this time. 😂
Noah admitted in an interview that he was intentionally trying to sound like Ollie. He later "found his voice".
What is insane is seeing bad omens getting 300k monthly listeners in the span of 2 months they jumped from 3.4 mil to 3.7 million. There isn't that many bands that can have that sort of growth.
I knew Bad Omens had gotten really big. I like them, and I’m actually going to that sold out tour with ERRA, but I had no clue the fandom had reached this level of silly. I’m a fan of things too but a lot of this is toxic. Happy the band are having their moment but I sincerely hope this doesn’t get further out of hand. Just enjoy the music folks.
watched a interview of Noah and he seems very humble and does a lot self meditation. feel bad for him and his band with this kind of craziness.
Their fusion of pop and Metalcore is so interesting and smooth. They’re the flagship band for this currently and their straight up pop songs like Who Are You and the title track of the most recent album are really fantastic. I absolutely love them. If you want to sum them up in a general sense, they’re basically “The Weeknd with Metalcore breakdowns” and it works
Its Shite and i Will never listen to them, Theres no depth and this band won't last long..
BMTH still exists, and showed the genre what is possible. I'm shocked it took bands this long to catch on.
Falling in Reverse?
@@chloeryanvtuber Can’t say I agree tbh, FIR is not for me but I’m glad people like them
@@ryanbollinger1759 ah okay. that's alright
I really enjoyed your breakdown and input about whats going on with Bad Omens 🤘
This is an awesome reaction to this video. Noah is extremely charismatic that draws people in. The way he presents himself is equal parts intelligent and funny but also empathetic. But my favorite part of this whole video is how we must now declare war against him because he’s too beautiful 🤣🤣🤣
Their merch drops literally is like black Friday
Another fantastic video and it happens to be one of my favorite bands(:
Now they’re making music that highlights the brilliance of Noah’s voice and the bands talent in general in a way that sounds a bit different. Winning formula.
They’re an amazing band ❤ seen them 5 times since 2020 and I’m going to selfishly miss the small club shows lol 😂 but I’m super happy for their success 😊
For me i remember it was a mixture of myspace and early facebook + warped tour in the mid to late 2000s and early 2010s that kept the parasocial and obsessive culture and scene together. Once warped poofed and myspace completely died and people got older the bands that were still around after that didnt have that backing to keep the obsession going besides the actual fans. Its like it went from a culture to regular fandom and now since tiktok is like myspace for zoomers they are forming a whole new scene but sorta on a individual basis for these new and random bands that blow up.
They'll never be at metal extreme or pop extreme, they like to mix genres and that's what makes them so unique :)
Very nice video by the way!! I was curious to know how popular they are.
i've been listening to them since 2018, I saw them in fullforce festival y germany... at that moment they were an small band, but duuuude they sound incredible live and Noah came out of the backstage to met the only two fans that were waiting for them, anotherguy and I. lovely guy and when he knew that I'm from Chile, he was kinda of surprise to know that there is a country name like that... joking, he was surprise that even though that I traveled from so far to the festival, i decided to go to their gig than the big one.
Metal quality to establishing the bands in many random others bands like a metal core and selling more records from their collaboration of Asking Alexandria to performing a long time ago.
I saw them 3 times this past summer! Never even knew who they were till Sonic Temple. After that Pittsburgh and Columbus again! LoL
I had to pay $106 for 1 ticket. That is ridiculous.
I discovered them after hearing like a villain on octane lol. I was just getting back into the genre and had a hard time getting into new bands. It wasn’t until 3 months later that their music finally clicked with me. I discovered a lot of newer bands since because of them and the scene feels less stale to me now
I feel like they look like a boyband, like 5SOS or something, maybe that's why the crazy fans. Also, they look young, so I'm guessing they have younger fans...Idk, definitely one of my favorite rock albums of the last years, tight with the latest Sleep Token and Spiritbox releases
I heard them first because youtube music added them into my mix more and more and i started to really like them
I’m obsessed ❤ saw them twice this week!
11:58 killed me! Keep killing it😂
Their first 2 albums were decent but the new one they really came into their own sound.
I'm 'worried' about Harper having to deal with this type of behavior... She's really damn good harsh vocals singer and she's only 12.
They're opening for BMTH now, full circle!!
Finn im dying to know your thoughts on the new sleep token album!
Thanks for sharing this video. I never realized there were rabbit metal frontman "swifties" !?! I'll be dammed! 😆😆
What made me so mad. Was the person who made that video didn’t get the information right about the band in the first couple of sentences. If you are going to tell the history of a band, it would be SMART to get said history RIGHT.
“Bad Omens is an American rock band from Richmond, Virginia, formed in 2015 by vocalist, frontman and producer Noah Sebastian, guitarist Nicholas Ruffilo, and bassist Vincent Riquier.”
9:41 its a good and important point tbh. Whats in my bag series by Amoeba prove it. Most artist pick a record really different from their sound and said its an influences
for me Noah Sebastian is an Oli Sykes with actual good vocal performance
18:53 there’s a lot of content about NS out there and idk where it even comes from…some of the footage looks like it comes from live streaming? Idk if he does that (probably not or not anymore) but I wouldn’t feed that energy further. A lot of it comes up on my algorithm despite my not following them.
Finn McKool you've taught us all ALOT about heavy music and music in general. We appreciate you greatly brother 🤘🖤💯💯💯♠️
I’m somewhat obsessed 😅 with Bad Omen, BMTH, and FIR ❤❤❤❤. And I’m in my late 30s saying this.
