  • Bad Omens rise is incredible, from a small unknown band in 2016 to touring arenas with Bring Me The Horizon in 2024.
And speaking of Bring Me The Horizon, they're a band deeply tied into Bad Omens history, heavily inspiring the band from their roots.
But are Bad Omens slowly going from being the student to potentially becoming the master?

Bad Omens were amazing opening BMTH’s concert in London last month, but BMTH have proven again why they are one of the leading bands in the industry. I wish Bad Omens all the best, and I hope they can reach BMTH’s level, but I think BMTH need a bit more credit (it’s really not easy getting on their level, let alone surpassing it)

I completely agree, plus BMTH consistently trying new types of music genres and being successful. Amo is such a different sound from their other albums and it’s amazing (in my opinion) they’re one of the only ones in the industry to still be successful and have a large following at that. Their concerts are amazing and next level. I love Bad Omens too they have amazing music with diversity but BMTH are next level!

@@elizabethescobedo5459 I agree. I actually hated BMTH when my daughter introduced the house to them with that's the spirit. Then I heard Sempiternal and was hooked. I also hated any screams and growls like on suicide season. But they've been a gateway for me to listening to heavier music. Now I love that's the spirit and Amo. And suicide season, some odd count your blessings, the odd 1 mixed in. But couldn't listen the the full album in 1 go. Unless I'm angry. Really helps release your anger right? Or is that just me 😂. But I 100% see the talent in it now. But there is a hell is my fave album at the min. I've always liked rock/metal. But never liked anything heavier than Metallica early stuff, thrash metal as they called it bk then 🤪. Don't know if that's still a thing. That many genres of rock.

I don't know about getting bigger because Bring Me are really ahead of time but I feel like both Oli and Noah are the type of a visionary who's always striving to improve, both insanely talented and out of this world creative. Maybe they won't go bigger but they 100% will be on BMTH level (sooner than later probably). The other thing, while Oli is a great singer, Noah has an insane range and a siren like vibe, which I think will become even better with time. Plus, both are handsome which obviously helps with more mainstream audience

I have seen them 3 times in Germany. And the performances were almost impeccable. While Oli has taken so long to improve his vocals and perform this good live like nowadays (clean and screams), Noah managed to do it very early in his career. But they are still very different bands after the last Bad Omens album. I also had the feeling that them being good live is also because of the extreme good live mixing tapes. You could hear every recorded tape on the background, especially on just pretend. Also the voice filters on "Artificial Suicide" and some very subtle Autotune effects by Bad Decisions, which I thought it was unnecessary, but its ok. My point is: I dont think Bad Omens will be bigger or better, they just have completely different vibes live even though they were so often compared in the beginning

they're both great bands, but I still feel that bad omens has a ways to go before they're on the level of BMTH. I literally started listening to bad omens after hearing someone jokingly refer to their music as sempiternal-core. after that, of course they've started to chart their own course, which is great, but I'd have to see a few more great albums from them before I consider them on BMTH's level

In my opinion both are absolutely great bands. I mean, of course BMTH is a big popular band, which reinvented their own style several times and they're awesome, but Bad Omens got their fame through tiktok. I think the whole social media thing made them even bigger now and after reading an article about their fans I must admit that many fans of Bad Omens tend to be more "fangirly" in a pop-culture way. Don't get me wrong, every band has their "fangirls", but according to the article and people's comments on their show, Bad Omens definitely has more fans who are more interested in the more melodical songs than the heavier ones. That's why I think, that Bad Omens absolutely could be bigger than BMTH, not because BMTH doesn't have enough influence on social media, but because Bad Omens IS that popular through social media now.

They won't surpass BMTH until Oli Sykes is alive. They can probably reach the same level, but not surpass them, you cannot understate the huge contribution of BMTH to open the minds of people to newer sound of metal, they walked so the likes of Bad Omens and Sleep Token could Run. The took the risk to be hated just to break the conventional sound and to inspire newer bands to take the same risk of being more ingenious. And now people realized how far ahead BMTH was, and people in the future will also realize how far they are currently is. I would say Noah is a better vocalist than Oli but in terms of live stage presence and performance BMTH is insane.
One more reason why they can't surpass them is copying BMTH or their Sempiternal formula, that in itself is a proof that they are a little below them.

Since seeing Bad Omens live supporting BMTH on the Post Human tour I actually feel Bad Omens will surpass BMTH (personal opinion).
I’ve loved BMTH since There Is A Hell album and have seen them numerous times. After the release of AMO I stopped listening to them partly down to them experimenting with new sounds (nothing wrong with that, in this case it wasn’t for me) and in other part for branching out to listen to other genres of music such as blues and folk.
I’d only heard Just Pretend and Like A Villain by Bad Omens and thought yeah they are alright. I was asked or should I say begged to buy tickets because my mum who never showed any interest in BMTH had fallen in love with those two songs of Bad Omens and the latest music by BMTH.
I went to the show not really caring for any of the bands, frankly I would have been happier staying home. What I didn’t account for would be my new found love for the genre I spent my teens and early twenties obsessed with. Bad Omens stole the show for me personally. Noah’s voice had me speechless whereas with BMTH i enjoyed their set but I wasn’t blown away by them like I had been years before seeing them live.
At the end of the day, I don’t care who becomes the biggest band, as long as they contribute to the music industry and continue to bring joy etc to their fans that’s all that matters.

Controversial opinion...but I agree, and it's something I've been saying for a while actually. No they're not there yet, but BMTH had over a decade headstart on them. If Noah doesn't get burnt out (or damage his voice - I really hope he's getting proper coaching now to protect his vocal cords), imagine where they could be at the end of the decade. They went from sub-1000 capacity venues first touring TDOPOM in 2022, to a year later playing venues 5 times as large. Absolutely insane growth by any standards

Although BMTH has history and they deserve all the recognition in the world, their set in Dublin felt like Oli was single handledly carrying the band and there were some missing points from the rest of the band.
Oli has a great voice and also sounded amazing on live no doubt, but Noah's insane vocal range outperformed BTMH vocal-wise. And for me, is on live performances where you can have a more clear view of artists and can truly compare/make up an opinion. Not saying this to discredit their work but Bad Omens energy, sync and overall performance, really set them apart from BMTH on that live.
They shown how much effort they have put into the whole thing and if the bands direction follows the path that Death of Peace of Mind has set, they will be bigger in time because objectively, evolution was shown from every aspect and it feels like is only just the beginning. Nevertheless, cannot wait to see what both bands come up with and hope they team up for tour(s) again in the future ❤

To be honest I don't think Bad Omens is going to be bigger than the success of Bring Me, Oliver and Jordan were geniuses in knowing what step to take, how to make the band more popular, that is based on the way in which who used their resources, they continue to think of ways to generate better creations, I had never really heard anything as bizarre and catchy as Amen, Kool Aid or Warewolf, while Bad Omens used a very familiar formula from other bands like Normandie and Dayseeker. It's not difficult to go from metalcore to electronic pop. What I consider most epic is how multiple sources such as EDM, synth pop, hyperpop, trap, nu metal, shoegaze, punk, metalcore and deathcore are used by bmth, dominating each of them and transforming it into something more. Obviously the future of Bad Omens is very long and they still have a lot to experiment, a lot to risk now that they are more popular, if they were to create a similar album again I would consider it a bad move, each bring me album is different and experimental, which enough to learn and come back stronger and that is something they must go through to contribute more to the scene

Either way, I think there's plenty of room for both BMTH and Bring Me The Horizon. I'm only starting to listen to bad omens but from what I'm seeing they're both delivering a good balance of Palatable Metal and Metal that hardcore fans can enjoy. I don't think you can ever have too much good music

there's a lot of hype around BO but having been in one of their 'sold out' shows, it was everything but sold out so they got a long way to go still. tik tok was a good start but they need to keep up with all this.dont get me wrong, the performance was great and i have to say thank god they had a good lighting show and videos cause stage performance was very low. those who are not obsessive about them will get to decide whether they are worth the hype or not

The answer is NO. Maybe in the US, but rest of the world I highly doubt it. BMTH is already headlining big festivals and massive venues worldwide, don't think Bad Omens will be capable of that.

  • @Brancr

Hmmm I think they’re very similar, I can see a deluxe edition of tdopom is incoming and then the album after is the one to watch.. I think by the time that next album comes out they’re going to be on very equal playing fields. But let’s just get it out there, bring me are huge but if they started out in America the same way bad omens have they’d probably be far bigger than they are now. The bands are insanely similar, similar writing and subject matters, I think Noah is a better vocalist personally but I can’t say that without saying that oli went from being a terrrrrrible vocalist to one of the best in the world and that is also nothing to scoff at. Both bands have reached insane heights, I just don’t see either getter much bigger than the other without them totally pivoting away from what makes them them in that sense.

In terms of vocals , Noah is just superior , Oli cant ring really well these days , the las time i saw him sing and scream like a goat was the 2014 era . BMTH of course is more big of a band but Bad Omens hit the mainstream a year ago , lets see if they can take advantage if that

Bad omens are good but the truth is I don't think they will be bigger than bring me in the future, bring me marked an era with their first albums and they were and at the same time continue to be icons in the emo public and the current public attracting each time more fans who even fall in love with their old and current albums. In addition to bringing me, he has achieved important things in his musical career.

Helps when your live performances use a ton of sound effects and auto-tune. Whilst they have a few good songs, they are massively overrated whilst more talented bands and artists get no attention at all. There are MUCH better bands NATURALLY live without auto-tune.

Idk mate I think they’ll always be in Bring Me’s shadow - they were sick on the Post Human tour but Bring Me have way more musical range, experience, pull, and creativity. They’ve only got one album out that I’d say is Bad Omens being Bad Omens, the rest is just generic (done well but still generic metalcore that tries to rip off Bring Me). They’ll be huge and I think they could be as big as where Bring Me are *currently*, but I think by the same token Bring Me will be much bigger by that point than they are now. I just feel they’ll always be in Bring Me’s shadow imo

This video is not a great take. Bring Me The Horizon are constantly innovating, pushing visual and sonic boundaries. They've improved with every album since the EP. Bad Omens are great too but they started off with the framework that bmth had already put in place. And they aren't shy about imitating a lot of what's come before them. As for the live show. Bad Omens' set on the bmth tour was pretty weak. Intro > Song > walk off stage > interlude > song > walk off stage > interlude.... repeat until finished. Thats not to say that they weren't performing the songs well. They're obviously extremely talented. But a well honed and exciting set is an art in itself. They have a tonne of promise, but they would need to improve on almost every facet of the band to even come close to what bmth has created. Or completely change up the approach and carve a new path. Either way, best of luck to them. I'm sure they deserve all the success they're getting.
