- Thomas Lund, Chief Technologist of Genelec, talks us through the concept behind Ultimate Point Source monitoring and the new Genelec 8331 and 8341 three-way compact monitors.
Loved his presentation at Metropolis yesterday - loved trying them out too!
Mr. Thomas Lund, Chief Technologist of Genelec, he explains the state of the art speaker technology directed to the most demanding audience, profesional in the audio mixing room, or equivalently recording studio. One would claim, no compromises have been taken, design is optimised to the highest degree current knowledge can deliver.
I would love to test them!
8351's are hands down the best sounding nearfields I've ever heard. Bass response makes you feel like there's sub in the room. MId/highs are classic Genelec flat precision. Curious to hear how the smaller versions compare.
Have you ever heard genelec 1032 v monitors?? I want to know how they sound
This is a great and very consequent developed product - I really love Genelec for their intelligent quality approach. But I have to point out that of course you can calibrate also 2- or 3-way speakers to your listening place in a way so that you don't hav any coloration. Also, I personally don't like tweeters made from metal, there are many better sounding solutions in my ears.
It doesn't just come down to drivers, the enclosure's performance is also what makes a "good" loudspeaker. Though room calibration may help with overall frequency response, it will not help with enclosure introduced issues such as resonance, port chuffing, or a poor wave guide. The strength in Genelec's design starts with a solid, predictable loudspeaker, then adding a high-quality DSP :)
Too sad they cost equal to a kidney, each.
I know a guy who can get you a kidney for less than that.
