Comment se comporte l'enceinte pour une écoute hifi ?

They have a pretty flat frequency response which is good for mixing. I end up applying EQ to the music I listen to through them. They preform great. Lots of bass extension available.

Why not just take them apart and spray the enclosures properly?

The grills are held in with glue and would be difficult/impossible to remove without damage. Therefore they would have to be taped off anyways even if the cabinets were separated and the internal components removed before painting. The way I did it saves a lot of time and doesn't jeopardize the 5 year warranty. I confirmed this with Genelec before I started.

Why wouldn’t you just remove them ?

Gray makes the sound too thin.

Nothing if you ask my wife. She prefers the gray color. I didn't like it.

It's really down to personal preference, I think the paint job was a definite improvement. :) But the sound wouldn't be affected either way.

Everything. It‘s so „in between” …and when I think of the black grid and the black isopods, it's totally inconsistent.
If everything would have been dark grey I would have loved it!
I’m glad that I own the rare limited midnight black version of the 8050!! 🙌🏼

How do you like your 8050s? I'm thinking of getting a pair for similar use at home with VPC1 - MacStudio - Ivory III.

I listen to the 8050s almost daily. Best studio monitors I've ever owned. They have a very flat frequency response which is great for mixing. I add colorful EQ to the music I listen to through them, but leave the frequency flat for piano playing. The bass extension is great with the 8 inch drivers. The bass roll-off is low (38 -32 Hz) on the 8050 which means I don't have to play loud to hear the lower frequencies. They are built like tanks with two piece cast aluminum cabinets which could survive the apocalypse. 😀

@@davidwashington4282 Did you think I was going to disassemble the speakers? The speakers can be disassembled. They are a two part cast bolted together. However, the grills are held in by glue and it would be difficult to remove without damaging them. Taping off the grills was actually the easiest way to go. I've been very happy with the Genelec speakers. I just didn't care for the sparkly gray color.
