24:00 When the chief of R&D be like: "Wall... hmm since we can't get rid of the wall ( ✧≖ ͜ʖ≖) let's use it!" Genius. If you can't beat the wall, just use the wall to give you more bass.

I have not heard them, but Im wondering if the little gap for the woofer drivers resonates at a certain frequency? Does it produce any "ghost notes"? The design is just weird. I have to hear them.

I have recently heard ALL THREE models and they are truly amazing. Find a dealer and go for a test drive. Your ears will be amazed and you'll finally have a pair of monitors which will allow your mixes to translate across a number of listening systems.

I think it would be pretty close to them being more or less open, as the "port" slit is very large in surface area compared to the drivers, which are as wide as the port and only a few inches tall. (There are two of them.)

Where can these be auditioned? Most dealers don't have them in stock to audition. I'm in Utah and the only dealer doesn't have any models in stock, much less these.

Isn't the midrange driver exposed? Why isn't the protective grill covering it?

    • @genelec

Hi Shaw! Midrange indeed does not have grille, so in that sense it is not protected from external damage. If there would be grille, it would influence on the sound negatively. And shortly said, there is really no room for that as well on these models. The coaxial (midrange) is quite robust mechanically too, and it is possible to clean it gently with microfiber cloth. Tweeter is more sensitive, and it has grille for protection. I hope this helps!

@@genelec The purpose of grill is not to protect against gentle brushes with microfiber cloth, but against accidents. In that respect the midrange is no stronger than the tweeter and I would gladly take a small hit in sound quailty for the ease of mind.

@@shawj We appreciate the feedback, and I will pass this feedback to our R&D regarding our The Ones 3-way series. I believe you know already our other models, but if not, I also recommend to check our other models such as 8330A and 8340A, as those have grilles for both tweeter and woofer, and are therefore more robust for external damage and are more safe to take with you i.e., for travelling.

@@shawj I totally agree. ANY kind of protection would be welcome. Anyone can have kids come by, or have a reception party, or "swing a jacket on" and whoops: zipper slammed into a speaker driver.

20:29 Er det Anders Frandsen fra 80erne? 😺 Or is it Alex Karp from Palantir?

I own a pair of the 8341's and I'll never buy another set of speakers they are that good. Paired with the GLM kit, they're unbeatable.
Forget your Uber expensive fancy passive speakers, these active monitors are the way forward!

What considerations has Genelec made on an infinite baffle transmission line based on this co-ax? It could be the same box as your 1230 series. Also, any considerations on inverting and damping the tweeter like Focal?

Like most Genelec speakers they're rear ported which means you can't put them close to a wall. That could be a deal breaker for me as I like to have mine close to the wall. What does interest me however, is the coaxial tweeter and midrange drivers, and the very strange looking bass ports which apparently go as low as 32Hz.
