Consider buying your own balance beam or rope! I recommend the Amazon basics battle rope - for $50 it was one of the best investments I’ve ever made for my foot health. For a balance beam I like The Foot Collective’s beam. Results come with a few minutes of daily use after a few weeks
As a former sneaker head, it took me forever to realize almost all modern shoes are not designed to fit the foot’s natural shape. It sucks, but I’m trying to save you a lot of time. They are designed for aesthetics, not function, and as we age can cause all different types of foot problems. If you suffer from bunions, hallux limitus/rigidus (big toe arthritis), plantar fasciitis, flat feet, or various other foot pains, starting balance beam work could be life changing. It only takes a few minutes a day, and it cannot be done wrong. Combined with switching to a minimalist shoe, anatomical toe spreaders, barefoot exposure at home, and more barefoot exercise/movement, I was able to reverse my own hallux limitus, flat feet, plantar fasciitis, hammer toes, and have never looked back. And it doesn’t stop there, having a strong foundation will ensure everything else can work better upstream
MORE people NEED to be talking about this. You will get weird looks at the gym, but the results are truly invaluable - nothing is weirder than feet that hurt

I start PT soon for years of hip issues. But when I go I really want to impress upon them that it’s not my hips in isolation. I feel like my feet get sore and tired way too easily (like a 5 minute hallway convo with a coworker and I’m shifting weight like I’m on hot coals). My walking gait is off from my feet which I believe filters up to my shins and hips. In other words I’m really hoping they can help strengthen everything from my feet, ankles, calves up to the hips. It has been so long since I’ve felt free and fluid with my walking. I’m not even trying to run a marathon or anything, I just want to get a certain quality of life back. It’s been very frustrating to say the least.

All the “I don’t have the genetics” people are not even trying to understand their own anatomy and how much that can help grow nice, well balanced calf muscles.

Having good toe spread and strong muscles in the feet make you have a strong arch and much much better balance. Also fixing ankle, knee and hip problems and even back and shoulder problems. Your feet are your base and if you have a weak base, everything above it collapses. So fixing the base can fix many problems way above the feet

I'm 16 and I'm from India and here where I live not lot of people wear shoes I mean they just use scandals mostly and we don't wear shoes in our homes only when we go out because of that and some other reasons my toes are spread out like a literal hand it maybe good for you I didn't know that untill i watched some shorts explaining it so i intentionally started cramming them together so they can look good but after knowing what I know I again started to walk normally without cramming my toes together

As a kid, I went (essentially) barefoot everywhere. As I've become more used to wearing shoes, I've developed all kinds of problems. My feet hurt whenever I'm active and I develop hairline fractures just from running. I have no calluses anymore so they become injured easily. My balance has suffered, as has mobility of my foot muscles. Maybe the biggest issue I have with wearing shoes is that they make your feet stink. Sure they're "clean", but they STINK.
I think it's important to spend some time in nature without shoes on. Whether you walk on grass or rocks, you should free your feet as often as possible.
