One of the most common pushbacks I get on foot health is the idea that it’s not important since many athletes have bunions and flat feet. However - training to have functioning, healthy feet for the rest of your life and training to be a GOAT are two drastically different goals
Improving your foot health and function comes down to a 3 step approach - in order of importance:
    1. Foot Strengthening - This could mean doing normal training barefoot, or also dedicated foot strengthening work. Our feet have 33 joints, 26 bones, and 100+ tendons, ligaments, and muscles in each of them that we don’t want to atrophy over time
Wearing Wide Toe Box Shoes - Wide toe box shoes give our toes adequate room not to be squished together. Overtime, this can help alleviate bunion pain and issues - but only if you’re putting in the work with foot strengthening
    3. Toe Spacers - Negligible compared to foot strengthening and wide toe box shoes, but still a great finishing touch. Wearing toe spacers around your home is similar to wearing a retainer after braces
@kadour_ziani_official is a must follow account with incredible wisdom - for those interested in his story and training methods I highly recommend picking up his book “7 Postures” and implementing his teachings!

The athletes named…their feet are shaped like the shoes they play and train in. 👀👀 and that’s why their injuries are what they are.
Le Ron shoulda been practicing has entire career barefoot, looks like he spent his entire basketball lifetime in shoes two sizes too small (and he did) 😂

In Jamaica, many people will take care of their issues with smelly feet and will pay attention to nail health and corns, calluses, dryness and discolouration. Structural issues with the feet aren't paid as much attention as they need. Podiatrists aren't very popular in Jamaica, many people know what these specialists do, but don't feel that they have a need or the resources to visit them, even when their toes look like they are being braided unto each other. Many also expect discomfort or pain from wearing new shoes and I've been teased for only buying wider shoes. My wellness business talks about this issue, but it is the content that is least interacted with.

Hey, so in Singapore, where my grandparents retired, my aunt noted that the boomer+ generation also have poor feet health because they simply don't prioritize buying good shoes. And this is despite access to all sorts of global brands, no matter the income. It got me also wondering about people from open-toed sandal culture in the tropics. At least gen X and below normally wear gym shoes (AKA dad shoes) or have awareness of things that are comfortable like Crocs or Birkenstocks as part of casual wear. But many young ladies also elect to wear flat flip flops / sandals without any arch support. This goes for shoes that are $10 -$400 too. People just are not educated about feet health in general.

I don't understand how LeBron hasn't spent any money or taken the time to care for his feet. Massages, toe spacers, geez anything. His are seriously messed up and it can't feel good.

He might go for it after retirement but even then I think it’s common to leave it. I don’t know how much he can do when he’s gonna jam his foot in a shoe just as hard the next day. That’s like 200 pounds plus the force he puts into the ground.

The fact Lebron feet didn’t get to half the way they are without him being like “wtf is going on” kind of says a lot about him. It just seems crazy to me that these athletes that believe in so much weird science would allow their feet to be deformed and chalk it up to just “working hard”
