Love the part where your wife says she wants it white ‘you’re painting it then…’ next shot it’s you painting it… probably the most relatable thing I’ve ever seen!!😂😂👏🏻👏🏻
Awesome book that gives you step-by-step photos ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxTNB_zFBSnTo_O1PqfVUwgi7ityw0JlKt and directions to make every day project. I can see myself making a few of these projects and giving them as housewarming and holiday gifts!
Looks great but i Have to agree the natural stone looked so much better im not a fan of painted stone but its obviously each to there own and everyone has different taste.
I agree and I also hate the White House black trim and black windows trend. They are popping up all over Chicago suburbs and look very tacky. Seems like the most basic and safest option for a home color but i expect the trend to look very bad in a few years maybe a decade.
Yeah, it looks old. I think because that's what every old house, especially with z-brick, does when they sell. They put a cheap coat of paint on and call it "updated"
FYI we designed the siphon pickup of the sprayer to fit in your paint bucket through the spout hole on top so you don’t have to remove the lid off your bucket. We recommend you to do it in that matter to help reduce the volume air drying in the bucket and to help avoid contaminates from entering the paint. Awesome video, glad the sprayer worked well for you!
The paint job looks great! Loved the natural stones before it was painted. I feel like it would have worked with the beige on the windows and new paint.
Having just bought a house last year and doing all sorts of projects to to fix up the house, things that I have no idea how to do, I really enjoy this channel. And projects always take longer than expected, especially if you haven’t done it before or a lot. Keep up the great content. You’re welcome to come to my house and help any time!
Every man in a relationship knows that exact feeling you had when she didn’t like the color!! I felt your pain!! Way to apologies and love up on each other. Love the color
We just painted our house and I am amazed at how good of coverage we were able to do. It is amazing the quality. I am glad to see you doing it yourself. Your house looks so updated and beautiful. Ours had this green trim from the 90’s haha I couldn’t believe what a difference just changing the trim did. I encourage everyone if you are healthy enough, paint your own house.
I’ve gotta say I love the white stone! Keeps the clean, white look of the walls but adds some texture to it. Natural stone would’ve worked as well, but the white is definitely my favorite
Looks great but black windows will definitely completely the look. Personally I would have left the stone and did a greige on the trim to bring out the stone.
The natural stone was beautiful and should have stayed 😩 Painted stone is never the aesthetic and comes off tacky in my opinion. Maybe grey would have been another option for the stone. The house looks amazing tho! Great job!
Exactly what I was going to say. I'm more concerned about that then the siding itself. I would absolutely halt all painting and make sure it was wrapped correctly.
Refer to the IECC climate zone map to determine energy conservation code. Depending on what zone you live in will determine the amount of insulation, or R-value, you need on the side of a house. Also, depending on what system the engineer approves for the builder to use will determine if a vapor barrier is needed. Usually WRB and air barrier is one unit and easy to install. Look up Zip System Sheathing.
@@n3rdcoast162 in our area most of the homes have a house wrap or they use the zip system. The only time they have a gap is when it’s a shingle or specific type of siding. Not the type shown in video. But maybe Idaho is different due to the weather.
Just my two cents but I actually like how the black kind of accents the lines in the stones now after painting over it with the white. Looks amazing man!
I think the beige windows look good against the white and black. Sometimes white and black can look way too plain. But the green door and the contrasting "off-white" beige color of the windows gives it just enough contrast to look really good. I would leave them as-is. Really good video here. This is the type of content we love to see from you Alex. Keep it up.
You notice how she was in the house the whole time, in the A/C, probably watching one of those “Real wives of (fill in the blank)” Then she just sachets out and proclaims “Na- don’t like it - try again!” That’s the power of pussy right there!
Love the way you enjoyed the work, chuckles in between. And love the way you pissed off but you guys are lovely couple , can see the strong love , happy family. Stay blessed. 🎉
"Darlin', here's a brush, the store has the paint, YOU GO BUY THE PAINT, PAY FOR IT, AND RE-PAINT IT LIKE YOU WANT!" My late sister wasn't happy with me buying nearly $3000 in paint (all MY money) and painting her trim (which was gonna rot), and I said those EXACT WORDS TO HER! You know what? She thought it was the BEST FREE PAINTING she had ever had done after she got quotes from two painting contractors of $17,000 and $22,000 (She had a HUGE three story tall, two story house, 20-odd Colonial Style Wooden windows with up to 32 panes and fan lights above. Doing ONE from dawn-to-dusk was a GREAT day's work on the 40 foot extension ladder!) Four very fancy exterior wood doors and triple roll-up garage doors. I spent nearly a solid MONTH stripping and prepping the doors, and fixing panels in the garage doors and the Celotex panels under her porch soffit. Thirty-six foot high scaffold, 40 foot across under the roof and 18 foot deep and I'm scared STUPID of open heights!
I actually love the stone color. Great choice! We actually used the same black for our trim and white for the house. We painted out door parakeet green from sherwin Williams. You both did amazing!
Good on you and your family for putting together this content, it truly shows that anyone can get good results if they care enough to get them. The best thing I would say I get from your videos is, motivation, and understanding that it's okay to fail and make mistakes, because that's how we learn and become better. If everyone could just think back about the time when they didn't know what they knew now, how would you want someone to respond and give advice to you. Great job, and keep it up :)
Your paint job looks great to me! Honestly I would have been upset if my spouse had changed their mind as well, but glad to see you apologize to her! About 18 years ago my mother and I painted her house after my father had died, with two 1 1/2" brushes! No lie honest to gosh! Two coats of Kilz and two coats of paint, all by hand! I even took my daughters swing set and made it into scaffolding to paint from! It was brutal and took 3 months, every single day! Fast forward and it is time to paint it again only Mom has passed away and everyone in the family is busy and unable to help, they all however have an opinion on the color, which I am the one buying!!!! So, at least be comforted in the fact that you only have your wife to deal with and you own 2 sprayers!! Please pray for me, I am going to need it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have always been told not to pressure wash “upwards” into cladding as water can get forced up between. Also, good to use house wash with some antifungal stuff in it, breaks up the dirt prior to washing and stops anything growing on the house (especially in damper climates- it really shows on the white paint).
Great job on painting. I did our house a few years ago and man, it never seemed to end! With the stone- good job listening to your wife and then coming back together on that. Base coat of grey on the stone and pick out a few other neutral colors and some sponge painting maybe? Also loved seeing how your family is growing and playing together!
Love the white on the brick. Makes the house look bigger, rather than breaking it up. Can’t wait for the window conversion video. That’s on my honey do.
Wow, great job! Love the white and black, and the door color! I' m female, painted our stucco house all by myself when I was about 60. I would not do that again at 71. We had excellent painters a few years ago and they did an outstanding job. As for repainting the stone, I would not have painted it, but that is just me. In looking at houses in Montreal the style on house fronts is often 3 (count 'em, three!) surface treatments on the same house front -- paneling (wood/vinyl), fake stone, and brick. Holy heck! All these houses look horrible and extremely dated with that. So if it were me I would paint all those surfaces ONE color, use colorful shutters and front door to update the house. this would make all those surfaces blend into one large shape punctuated by pops of color on the shutters and front door.
It looks fantastic. That scene with the stone plays out in every house in America lol..husband gets pissed, pounds his chest and minutes later is apologizing and doing what he said he wouldn’t do anyway. 🤣🤣 first time viewer, new subscriber.
I think it looks amazing and if you hadn't painted the rock with the black it wouldn't have the darkness between the rocks. It would have been to much white or had the tannish hint to it. Thank you for sharing I'm so glad that "mistakes" happened, I really love how it turned out. Great Job!!!!

Mistake, should have left the natural stone as it was. Would have looked great.
Especially when you consider the beige windows.
And if you want to change the color use a masonry acid stain. Painting on Natural Stone is retarded
And it actually looks better black than white because stone is generally darker so they should have just left it painted black at that point
I dunno white rock growing on me. Beige windows less than ideal.
That is so ture
Looks great but i Have to agree the natural stone looked so much better im not a fan of painted stone but its obviously each to there own and everyone has different taste.
Yeah, I wouldn't buy a house with painted stone...
100% agreed. Natural dark gray stack stone would phenomenal with this.
The original color looks better. They basically made a checker board house. White stones?? looks hella weird
I agree and I also hate the White House black trim and black windows trend. They are popping up all over Chicago suburbs and look very tacky. Seems like the most basic and safest option for a home color but i expect the trend to look very bad in a few years maybe a decade.

I actually like how the black shows through a little on the stone. Adds dimension. It looks great!
The paint job looks great!
Loved the natural stones before it was painted. I feel like it would have worked with the beige on the windows and new paint.
Should have washed it and maybe polishe fit up
Natural stones would look great, but the white stones actually match the white and black theme of the house perfectly. Great job!

The black trims and light color on the house looks amazing. Not sure how i feel about the painted stones though.
You 100% know how you feel about it. It looks baaaad
Yep. I’m with you on this. You definitely shouldn’t have painted the stone and the combo of the white black and brown was gonna look very nice.
Yeah I reckon should have painted the layer above the stone black then the rest not painted
Alex, you killed it!!! Your workmanship is bar none. Congrats and enjoy all the looks from neighbors driving by.
Every man in a relationship knows that exact feeling you had when she didn’t like the color!! I felt your pain!!
Way to apologies and love up on each other.
Love the color
Hey brother. I've been building houses and remodeling for 23 years. I run from painting. Your house looks great.
Black and brown look good together. I painted for decades. Painting a 60-70's brick house transforms it. I never painted stone.
I completely loved all the husband/wife dynamics and the camaraderie you both enjoy. I enjoyed how you both just kept it real and were yoiurselves.
Great job!
My house is cream vinyl and crappy red brick. It’s a horrible combination but I don’t want to paint the brick either
After it was painted, it was done.. A grey with brown or blue/green tones would have looked more natural on the stone texture.
the natural stone color would have helped balance the beige windows I think. Great Job!! John Malecki will be proud!
I hate John Malecki
@@MrBuildit 😂😂😂 will he ever not be a nemesis for you?

@@TomCGhost Zip System is an amazing product. I have learned a lot from Matt Risinger regarding this.
Hahahaha I was going to say the same.
Build show for the win! Huber is amazing
Good video. Was surprised when you took off the siding- you had no barrier between siding and OSB.
You shouldn't have a barrier there, other than an air gap so it can dry out. A barrier would trap moisture and cause rot. Good observation though

That intro was the most genuine husband and wife interaction given this situation. Great video :)
I don’t always leave a comment, but I always watch the videos. I really enjoyed this one just a bit more. Great job!
looks so good, crazy how much paint can just change and refresh the way something looks
I think the black stone looked better, but either way, it looks awesome. Great work as always!
because they did. its a fact
Looks amazing!! ....but definitely should have left the national stone would of looked even better lol
LMAO..when she said “truth or lie”…”iii don’t hate it”… your face was classic! You should have seen that coming. I like it! Came out nice!

Maybe there is a way to sandblast the white/black paint from the stones to return them to their original?
There is but it's a big prep and clean up job lol especially around windows etc

Black metal roofing would look slick with this transformation!

The stone looks kinda cool with the dark paint in the grooves and the white paint on the top :)
You are Like my spirit animal 😆 I like all the work you do, like building 101 👍🏽

The natural stone look is dope! Black, white, and brown is a great combo. Don't paint it!
If it was red brick, then yes, paint the heck out of it.
Man that house is a work of art. Congrats - some motivation for my first house
