My 18 year old kitty died a few months ago. I was shocked by it. It took me three days to even absorb it. Of course I cried. I hate not having her around. Sweet as can be!! Healthy to the end. Had her almost as long as I've been married. These are painful milestones in life - markers if you will. Give yourself time to heal and don't feel badly about reduced stress. End of life is stressful. I didn't experience that with my kitty but I have with some close friends who died of cancer. 😢

I had been trying to keep my almost 16 yo AussieX comfortable for months. He had weakness in his hips, pain and then in April of 2020 he started losing weight & his appetite diminished. The vets were closed due to Covid, but in June I found a mobile vet, had her come and confirm that the kindest & best thing for him was to pts. She watched him move around and confirmed he was in pain and probably losing weight due to cancer. This dog lived in the house and went literally everywhere with me, even work. I feel your pain and I took comfort knowing I rescued him from a “high kill, only kept dogs seven days” shelter and he was loved and given the best life I could provide.
I am so sorry. I am also contemplating putting Annie down. She has spinal arthritis and dementia and doesn't want to sleep at night anymore and roams the house destroying things even though we have lots of drugs from the vet.

My Leo had exactly the same issue, eventually it went really bad to the point that he was just suffering every single night. I had to put him down, it was a painful decision. 😢

I have this dog for 12 almost 13 years and I’m shocked he’s still going because he’s been with me since 4th grade and he has lived through every other dog so far and he moves just like a puppy like he’s really young when he’s not, He’s been with me through most of my school life

Thank you for saying the quiet part out loud. I had felt horrible for feeling a tiny bit of relief when my elder dog passed and thought I was a garbage human for feeling it. I bawled like a baby watching this video. I lost my boy a year ago in March and the grief still comes and goes.

I am sorry for your family. Furbabies are babies too. My fiance' is preparing to put his older cat to sleep. He has stage 4 kidney disease for over a year, pain, arthritis, and now is unable to get a surgery to improve because the vet says he won't make it. We love our pets and do our best. I can tell you and Scott are great owners. I wish all pet owners were loving and cared like so many here in the posts. You have a loving and supportive community. You and Scott are darling. Thank you for posting but please put your health first. Your community understands. So much love in the comments.

Do not feel guilty about the realization and the benefit of the stress and anxiety no longer there. Now you know. I had 6 cats (rescues) until my #1 cat, Max, died a few weeks ago from an obstructed bladder. I did not have over $1,000 to save him and he died at home in my arms the next morning. I was destroyed. At least all his house mates got a chance to say goodbye. He was always a high-anxiety kitty and within a few days of his passing it was very noticeable how the whole energy in the house changed. I was very surprised. All the cats were more relaxed and even more playful. I noticed that I too was more relaxed without always worrying out him. All Ryu's life you poured your love into her and now you made the right, loving decision, and she is happier and healthier for eternity. Thank you for your videos. You are an encouragement. Thank you to Scott too.
I’m so sorry for you dear, I understand your pain. My Mom and I have a Maltese that’s 15 yo if something happened to her I would have to take off work.

So sorry for your loss, I know it’s so hard! Hang on to the fact that dogs don’t have the same life span as humans, so you gave her a full life, with a tremendous amount of love! Hang in there!

I'm so sorry you lost your dog. I could barely watch your video, it is just so heartbreaking. Our Big Boy, only 7, has just been diagnosed with osteosarcoma and I almost can't bear it. So, with empathy, caring and love I send my deepest condolences to you and your family.

Ryiu knew you loved her - you cared for her in a loving and considerate way (taking her in the stroller so she didn't feel left out or left behind, chiropractic visits, etc.). I can imagine the relief - one could see the resources you were spending on her with time, energy, emotion and finances (I can very much see the stress on you, and I am sure on Scott with his care fore you). I just lost my 17 year old chihuahua in April 2024. I feel your pain. It was time for me to let her go. Was it easy? No! I’m lost, but she’s out of pain and I’m no longer wondering why she couldn’t eat. Take care of yourself. You are loved! ❤
Poor thing. It's awful to see someone you love suffer. I know exactly you're feeling. We had to do it a few years ago, & right now our 3 dogs are all 8 yrs or older. so, we know it's in the future too. We had a vet come into our home and administer the two shots to our Elvis, and because we did it at home, our other dog, Rosie was able to say goodbye too. Which was a huge help, because if you just take the pet away from the home and the other animals will grieve, not knowing what happened. I also understand the feeling of relief. For 1.5 yrs I was giving our dog 3 different meds, 4X a day, and it was so stressful, and I had to constantly monitor his water intake and he would have accidents and that weren't his fault, but I'd still get frustrated after so many times.

There is always some relief in the ending of suffering, on both sides. I had a 25 year old bruiser of a cat named Bud. I moved from Canada to Mexico and his ashes came with me. It's such a hard decision to make, and such a loss. Our four legged friends are such heart felt companions. She had a wonderful life with you. No sentient being could ask for more. I wish you comfort and lovely memories of your dear one. 🙏

Take all the time you need. Losing a pet is the most difficult thing I have experienced, and I have lost all 4 grandparents and my dad. Our pets don't live as long as we want them to with good health. I have heard that life is long for humans because it takes many of us a very long time to learn how to be decent beings. Animals are born already knowing how.
She wants you healthy!!! She is and will continue to be so supportive of you as you heal. “NO WORRIES”, she says, I can confirm what you’ve heard from her.

I have been following silently, but I had to reach out, hang in there😢 My dog just got diagnosed with diabetes and congestive heart failure all within this past month-my heart is breaking he’s 9 years old! I am also new to carnivore diet, so glad you have shared❤ It helps to know no one is alone. Prayers as you work through this, “boulder” in your path, and we (your channel friends) learn from your example. Thankful for your husband, Scott, too!

I completely understands. Three years ago we had to put down our family dog. He was 21 years old. I believe he lived longer because of the care we gave him as he aged. Still miss that pup and I buried him neath a mulberry tree that I can see from my back porch window. Tell him hi every time I work outside. Happy memories will temper your grief, it takes time. So sorry to hear about your sweet critter!! We just lost our Brisco last Jan.29/24 and it was brutal to say the least. I still cry everyday. The only peace I have is that he is not suffering anymore. May our babies rest in paradise!!❤️🌈🌹

My dog sent me my new dog-from doggie heaven. He is almost exactly like her. I still miss her and will never forget her, but I am so happy to have my Boomer with me. Dealing with aging pets or humans is stressful, but it is an honor and a blessing after they have given us so much. Don’t feel guilty about being relieved. PpA huge part of that is you are relieved they are no longer in pain.

Losing members of our fur family is hard. We had a dog for 14 years and she was a handful and a challenge. When she passed it was a real mixed bag of emotions. I was relieved to not have to worry about her with our other dog, our cats, our grandchildren, and then the guilt of feeling relief. She was the smartest dog we ever had and the most challenging .It was also the first time I could hug her properly after she passed, which still makes me cry. It's been 2 years. We do our best for our furry friends and that has to be enough. Take care of yourself.

I'm so, so sorry for her loss. When we love our furbabies, we put them above ourselves. I believe that all of my babies will be waiting for me when I go to heaven. Yours will be there, asking for treats the moment you show up.

So sorry for your loss. Losing a precious pet is very hard. Recently my daughter had to say goodbye to her 20 yr old precious bobtail cat. Bobbi was such a queen. So heart breaking. Hugs to you!!! ❤😢
I get it. My condolences. It's a heartbraker. Went through something very similar. Dolly had cancer - went into remission, then returned. Lots of meds. Lots of tests and checkups. Then the suffering and pain was too much. She didn't have the quality of life a dog needs to thrive and be happy. She was 15 and she'd had a good life. We let go knowing that the pain of grief was the price of love. I had lots of tears, lots of grief, went off my keto diet. But life eventually returned to normal. Give yourself as much time as you need to grieve.

I’m so sorry. The loss of our fur babies is devastating. Dogs do go to heaven. Don’t believe they don’t. I do believe that they remain beside us everyday. They give us so much love and everyday is a blessing. But there is the hardest day…the day we say good bye. You clearly gave her a wonderful life.
