Joe Hughes was Ren’s friend who jumped off the Menai Suspension Bridge joining mainland Wales to the Isle of Anglesey, sadly his body was never recovered. They were both in school with my daughter Rachel and one of my best friends son’s is one of the mates Ren refers to in “Suicide”. There is also a truly brilliant live version called “For Joe” which includes the ending from “Suicide” and “Freckled Angel”. Joe was very freckly and him and Ren were joined at the hip. He tells a story about the last night he saw him and they hung out at a bar. The first song he does for Joe is called “Freckled Angels”. “How to be me” with Chinchilla is so powerful. Then he does “Suicide” and right after he drops the live song called “For Joe”. All are really emotional. There is a live version of “Freckled Angels” too that is pretty soon after what happened. He has a hard time getting through it.

I keep seeing How to be Me being included in the Joe story/series. That song is adjacent to Joe's story just like Mackay is. Songs specifically about Joe are Freckled Angels - written right after his death. Ren wrote it for the memorial service I think. Then he wrote Suicide during the writing of the Sick Boi Album early 2020's. For Joe was the most recently written during his time in Calgary and is a combination of the earlier pieces with an additional chapter/verse in the middle. I think that one was the most healing one for him IMO.
@@Abigirl_Reacts No it is about a friend Callum Mackay who died in an accident shortly after Joe. MacKay was recently written - also done in Calgary. Both of these friends were from Ren's youth. I think both died when Ren was in his late teens.

"Think I'm gonna blow Chernobyl" was a reference to the nuclear 'reactor' that blew up and him blowing up YT reactors with the lyrics, lol! As a 90's kid I reckon you'd love "What you Want" and the Big Push "Bongo Bong" is a great vibe. For the 'Joe' series, it would probably be best to do the order of 'Freckled Angels', 'Su!cide', 'For Joe' and then 'How to be Me'. For something different and more insight into Ren as a person you have the 1M subscriber video and his 'Chapters' series which he talks about his life. Each chapter finishes with one of his songs linked to that part of his life and finally the track 'Troubles' that summarises his struggles. Whichever way you go, you'll love it!

So sorry I missed the premiere! I overslept everything I was supposed to do today. This was among the tracks released before Sick Boi (the album) dropped. One of my personal faves (and so cheeky!). Henry Tudor is better known as Henry VIII, father of Elizabeth the 1st. He's (in)famous for beheading wives who couldn't give him a son/heir, as well as changing England over to the Anglican Church (allowing him to divorce from then on). I will highly recommend one of his early interviews with Black Pegasus, which covers most of the back-story. As to songs, "Freckled Angels" is the earliest, followed by "How To Be Me", "S*" and finally "For Joe". Loved the reaction!
The song "For Joe" was released slightly after "Su!cIde" and is related. I'd watch them in order released, but it's not nessisary. The whole "Freckled Angels" album was inspired by/dedicated to Joe, but was done years earlier. The title track would be of most relevance, but there are other great songs on it as well.

Why yes, there is a series that explains EVERYTHING about his friend Joe, and so much more. Ren out out "The Chapters" about seven months ago. It's 8 Videos or Chapters, each anywhere from 15 to 25 minutes minutes long and he goes through EVERYTHING about his life. It's mainly focused around his illness and the journey to where he is now. But he talks alot about Joe. At the end of each Chapter there's a song/video. Sometimes the song is related to something he takes about. Like the Chapter about Joe at the end is his live mash up of sulcide and Freckled Angels, both written about Joe. Its really the best way to get to know EVERYTHING about Ren. Some of the stories are hilarious, alot heartbreaking, but the main thing is about never giving up when you think you can't fight anymore. I really hope you check them out. Seriously if you love Ren, in a married kinda way that is lol, you'll check it out and then you'll be expert level with Ren knowledge!

In regard to you asking if there is a series that explains the Suicide song about his friend, on his other channel, RenMakesStuff, he has 8 videos called Chapter 1-8 where he explains a lot about his life and tells his story and each one ends with one of his songs that sort of encapsulates that chapter of his life. The whole breakdown about what happened to his friend Joe is included in one of those chapter videos.

So sorry I missed the premiere! I overslept everything I was supposed to do today. This was among the tracks released before Sick Boi (the album) dropped. One of my personal faves (and so cheeky!). Henry Tudor is better known as Henry VIII, father of Elizabeth the 1st. He's (in)famous for beheading wives who couldn't give him a son/heir, as well as changing England over to the Anglican Church (allowing him to divorce from then on). I will highly recommend one of his early interviews with Black Pegasus, which covers most of the back-story. As to songs, "Freckled Angels" is the earliest, followed by "How To Be Me", "S*" and finally "For Joe". Loved the reaction!

The song "For Joe" was released slightly after "Su!cIde" and is related. I'd watch them in order released, but it's not nessisary. The whole "Freckled Angels" album was inspired by/dedicated to Joe, but was done years earlier. The title track would be of most relevance, but there are other great songs on it as well.

Why yes, there is a series that explains EVERYTHING about his friend Joe, and so much more. Ren out out "The Chapters" about seven months ago. It's 8 Videos or Chapters, each anywhere from 15 to 25 minutes minutes long and he goes through EVERYTHING about his life. It's mainly focused around his illness and the journey to where he is now. But he talks alot about Joe. At the end of each Chapter there's a song/video. Sometimes the song is related to something he takes about. Like the Chapter about Joe at the end is his live mash up of sulcide and Freckled Angels, both written about Joe.
Its really the best way to get to know EVERYTHING about Ren. Some of the stories are hilarious, alot heartbreaking, but the main thing is about never giving up when you think you can't fight anymore.
I really hope you check them out. Seriously if you love Ren, in a married kinda way that is lol, you'll check it out and then you'll be expert level with Ren knowledge!
