    Important Key Tips Not Mentioned:
I keep my flat irons between 390-400. I’ll only go over 400 if I’m working with extremely course hair and I see that I need to up it. When I do, it never exceeds 410. When blow drying, the dryer should NEVER be directly touching your hair at ANY point. It should only be following wherever the brush is moving. That is how you get heat damage. Leave a tad bit of space between the dryer and your hair and blow dry on the highest heat setting your dryer has.
Dryers that have 1,800-2,000 KW work best for silk presses. Last but not least, make sure those roots are completely STRAIGHT!!! That is a must, if your roots are not straight, you’ve just wasted your time. Your roots can take way more heat then anywhere else, so if you need to hit it twice with the flat iron, don’t be afraid. You won’t get heat damage from it. You can also use the mini flat iron for the roots (same method as using a pressing comb) and then flat iron how you regularly would. CERAMIC IRONS are your best friend, so stay away from titanium if you can. Hope this helps 💜

Thank goodness I found this video. I’m TERRIBLE with hair but desperately want to learn to take better care of my hair. Financially, I can’t get my hair done often but I’m tired of looking a mess and wearing my hair in a dreaded, dry, matted bun! Maryland weather also plays a factor in my hair always frizzing up, it’s so unpredictable here and humid!!

Here is a list of shampoo’s and conditioners that will take your silk press to the next level and give you that salon quality look and feel. You need to use a clarifying shampoo first ( this is to get your hair squeaky clean. You must NOT skip this step). 2nd, use a moisturizing shampoo. And lastly, you can either regularly condition or deep condition. NEVER do both. You’ll over load your hair and weigh it down.
Shampoo’s that clarify: Tea tree by Paul Mitchell (do not get the lavender), Oat protein and henna by design essentials, mongongo by Mielle organics.
Shampoos that put the moisture right back in after clarifying: Mega Sleek by Matrix, Almond and avocado by design essentials, Honey Creme by design essentials, Macvoil anti aging (TOP TIER), Moisture recovery by Joico.
Deep conditioners (can be used to regular condition as well) : Almond butter express by design essentials, K-Pak reconstructer by Joico , Babassu mint by Mielle.

That Paul Mitchell product is the business! It will keep that frizz away for at least two weeks during the summer. Design products are excellent. The after shampoo mint conditioner is it for my crunchy hair. A heat protectant is so important and that blow drying process is too. It makes flat ironing so smooth. Thank you for all the information and for demonstrating each step so detailed. I especially thank you for sharing the products used to achieve such a beautiful result. Usually, UA-cam stylists would rush the process without providing any product information like it's a big secret or something. Thank you for being transparent and I subscribed without hesitation. Keep this good videos coming , please.

THANK YOU!!! I followed these directions and guidance (minus the products shared). As replacements I used generic Paul Mitchel products from Sally's Beauty - leave in conditioner, detangling spray with heat protectant and lightweight oil serum. My results were absolutely fantastic!!! I have fine hair and once I thoroughly blow dried, my flat iron did the rest. It has been a week and half and my hair feels just as straight and moisturized as day one. This tutorial deserves a curtsy to you Queen.

One of biggest gripe as a natural when getting silk press is that they they dont twist the sections like that! The stylist leave the hair hanging and then start tugging on the hair wondering why its knotted up again

My mom always twisted our hair like that during the drying process. I don’t know why people think it will not dry up if you leave in all out like that. Plus it is easier to dry when you section it off.

@@Crazyconfedy yes! I haven’t had time to come back to YT for an update. But yes, I went to CA last week and it held up out there even out by the water. And then i got back to Houston this week and it held up all week. Today it got a little frizz because it actually rained but this will be my go to regimen for when i straighten my hair. I will say i still like to add a little oil to keep my hair from drying out but next time I’ll try and add just a tad bit more product when i blow dry. My hair sucks up moisture and gets dry so I need a little extra

I have the skinny serum, but it doesn't say anything about being a heat protector up to 450 or a heat protector at all for that matter, only that it's humidity resistant, reduces drying time and adds shine.
