Thanks everyone for your support of my channel. Please watch an ad or two while looking at my videos. It helps and I have great partners!
What Toyota Tacoma trim level is your favorite? Have a great week everyone! Jeff
TRD pro
TRD Pro, bay bay!
I went with the TRD Sport. Wanted the 6' bed - and in Canada the only 4 door model with the 6' was the Sport.
Off road
@@Artkidtek OR all the way
Jeff - In 2020 we had a Tacoma TRD Sport. My wife was driving it. While driving she passed out and was in a very bad accident. Thanks to the Tacoma’s safety features especially the airbags it saved her life. The Tacoma was totaled out due to the damage to the airbags.
We got a 2020 Tacoma Off Road. I drive a Toyota Venza Hybrid.
I will always go with Toyota. The Tacoma is a top quality truck and has the highest resale value.
No one else can match that.
I have 2014 quad cab v6.....106k miles. Never had one single mechanical issue or problem with it. I've always changed the oil every 4000 miles with full synthetic and I recently changed the spark plugs. These Toyotas are amazing quality and very reliable.
“It lasts”…absolutely! My son has a first generation Tacoma in gold color,(2002 TRD Off Road with locking rear diff)…my best friend bought that truck new and sold it to my son a few years ago. This truck has around 280k miles!! Only routine maintenance except for a new clutch and drive shaft recently (though his truck is lifted 5” which is hard on a drive shaft). Everything on his truck works perfectly, and drives as smoothly as new…still looks shiny and new!
I purchased my 2019 Tacoma TRD Off Road 4x4 (Calvary Blue) new in Jan of 2019. I now have 171k miles…again nothing except for routine maintenance. We both use our trucks a lot in 4x4, so these are not mall crawlers…these are real work horses.
We have been so impressed we recently bought my wife a 2022 4Runner TRD Pro (lime rush). We have a few other vehicles but I must say these Toyota vehicles are very impressive.
You crack me up! Love your videos, Jeff! Keep on, keeping on!
Jeff I prefer my halogen bulbs compared to led headlights , because the halogens heat up enough to melt the snow/ice.
This guy is hilarious! thanks for the truck overview
You don't want led head lights for a couple reasons. 1st is heat. Snow will build up on them. 2nd is color, a halogen is a black body radiator meaning you will get a full color spectrum.
After months upon months of extensive research and reviewing trucks , I just recently ( yesterday) ordered a Toyota Tacoma TRD Off Road double cab long bed in Army Green . Got the technology package with bed lighting kit and bed mat . Nothing extravagant or fancy, just the necessities. I wanted a manual but you can’t get it with a long box, which is more important for my needs .
This will be my first ever Toyota product in my lifetime . I’m coming out of a 2018 Subaru Outback 3.6R Touring and I can’t wait to get away from that CVT BS and back into a pickup truck that will actually go places off road .
Would love to hear what you think when you receive your Tacoma, I’m looking into buying pretty much the same one
@@ajlandrew The acquisition of the truck won’t be here until late October/ mid November. I’ll let you know what I think !
Hi from Toronto. I love your reviews, Jeff! Keep up the good work.
Hi Michael!!
I would add a 6' bed and a Moon/Sunroof, oh and Lunar Rock color also
Love my 22TRD off-road. But those Goodyear tires were a good year. Get it.😂
Just bought this Truck in white (short bed), around 6 days ago. I am loving it. I only have 150 miles on the odometer. It drives smoothly, accelerates quite nicely. Your reviews helped with my choice making, thank you Jeff :D I do have a question about the lights though- when you first turn the knob, is that the high beams?
How does this truck ride on the highway? I'm on a list at my dealer and this one has been offered to me, but I don't off-road. Would you recommend it for 100% highway/commuter driving?
@@joemarchand8313
It has a factory lift kit, more aggressive all terrain tires, skid plates and a locking rear differential. If you never take it off road, there is absolutely no reason for you to buy this model.
I just got a Tacoma trd off road 2x4 and I love it
TRD 2X4, and off-road? Lol! 2X4 doesn't go with anything off-road.
I loved the honeycomb grill when I bought my truck but once I switched it to the pro grill it was game over. It looks way better with the pro grill.
looking to buy one within the next couple days, and I have to agree with you. The pro grill makes this truck looks 100x better
Just got my 22 TRD off road Tacoma in blue crush metallic. Traded in my 17 SR5. Big time upgrade, Toyota fixed a lot of bugs over the past few years. Drive like a dream and it's wicked comfortable
Bought a Bronco, and I regret it, thinking about buying the off-road. Anyway, congrats on your purchase!
@@TheJiggs666 why the regret? Im considering a bronco or a tacoma in the future
@@PlayStationatorTV I sold the Bronco, just didn't like the look of the soft top or the quality of the material. It looked lousy, that was literally my only complaint about the Bronco. I ended up with a Maverick XLT.
Bought the 23 OR 4x2 and absolutely love it
I was close to getting a 2022 Tacoma but ended up going with a 2022 frontier pro4x. The Tacoma is still a nice truck. Just like the new frontier better
That’s a fine truck you got. Congrats!!
@@Toyotajeff Thank you! I really like it. Wish I could afford to own the frontier and Tacoma
I rather have a Tacoma than any Nissan.
Great review, picking one up tomorrow!
Hopefully, they’ll be Venzas for 2023. I learn more from Jeff than my dealership. Keep those vids coming..
Just purchased this truck a few weeks ago. Ford didn't have anything on the lot. Neither did Chevy. Toyota had this in stock with 2 miles on the odometer. So i took it. No mark up either. Just msrp.
Jeff T,have you doing any video on Tacoma trd off road with trd pro shocks, tires and suspension?Enjoy watching your videos and tgank you for the infor about Toyota.
I sold my 2018 TRD Off-Road so my wife could be a stay at home mom during covid. I'm up for a promotion and if I get it, I'm buying myself another one.
Dude cracks me up..
Hah well thanks!
Thank you for sacrificing your pants for this review! and making it funny. You rock man.
Hahahaha whatever it takes!
This is a very nice truck. LED fog lights and headlights should come standard. Every other truck has it.
You don't want LED fog lights for visibility. In that case Halogen is better.
Jeff!! Great review as always!
If I was ever to buy a Tacoma truck, I’m going to see Jeff.
just made me exited to get my tacoma one day
Great video. I am in Canada and waiting delivery on a 22 TRD OR acess cab, auto, electronic package in white
I’m getting a TRD Sport. Red color
This guy is great😂👍🏼
Everybody can always see the outside of a truck show the interior show the center stack more
Their expensive but your paying for the investment. All over Oregon people drive them.
Jeff is a cool dude.
Headrests go in slots in rear seats when folded
Wow I never realized that hahahaha thanks for the tip!!
Just ordered 2022 Tacoma 4x4 TRD OFF road double cab in Barcelona Red Metallic. 5 ft bed. It is located somewhere between here and there. Nother 2 or 3 weeks to arrive in NC. Now I’ll have to figure out the map gps when it arrives. Thanx for a very good video and humor to go with it !!! Btw what does the “C” stand for after the model numbers 7544 ? My paperwork just has 7544..
Crazy 22hwy i get 23 on my 18 platinum fx4 5.0L v8 which will out tow the tacoma and dust it as far as speed had a 2011 f150 5.0L fx4 with 375k miles no issues
Yeah, a small truck needs to be killer in gas, at least mid-20s. Would love to see a diesel in one. At this rate unless you hate parking a big truck, which these days is super easy with all the cameras, there's almost reason to get a ranger, Colorado, etc other than style. I will admit they all look cool, but practicality just isn't there
@@baloo1522 yeah thats why i just get full size truck instead i get better fuel economy in real life then midsize trucks not to mention its roomier n can haul and tow more then any midsize truck
I never see 22hwy lol. I’d be lucky to get 20.
Sure you do
@@michoacanom4320
Full size trucks are also much more expensive, so there is that…
Hey Jeff Teague when ready to buy would like to drive to Raleigh, NC to buy my TRD Off Road...
Awesome let’s do it
I'm having a really tough time finding a trd off road with leather. What's up with Toyota making so many of these with fabric? Not very smart to put fabric seats in a car your going to buy for off-roading lmao. Toyota's decision making never fails to make me chuckle.
I thought these had LED head lights. 🤔 the new reflector version.
Be careful what you wish for I had a 19 Civic SI, it had halogen lights but they worked really good I wound up getting a 2020 Accord 2.0 touring LED fog lights & headlights/high beams no bullshit they barely lit up the road! the halogens in the Civic were way better so my 1st experience with LED lights even on a more premium vehicle did not work for the better, but that's just my experience...🤷
I picked up a 2022 Blue crush metallic TRD 4x4 off-road six-speed manual I guess it only comes with the 5-ft bed but mine after all the dealer add-ons was $39,280 mine has the step bars also and they charge $415 just to black out 3 badges 🤦 all-weather floor liners $250 could of got WeatherTech for $170.. mine is the most basic truck no technology package no sunroof no heated seats I guess it's a good thing in a way because it's less stuff that can break when Toyota built this manual they were like we're giving this dude basic everything he's lucky to get power windows and cruise control probably what they were thinking 😂
Yeah the manual doesn't get any tech. The automatic is pretty sweet tho, all the tech with the crawl control. I'm loving mine so far. I just wish the floorpan was just a bit deeper
@@heisenballs awesome glad u like yours! I wanted the more basic truck... I put real nice Carhartt seat covers on mine so I would not want leather anyways & I live in Phoenix so that's hot as fuck in the summertime. The only reason I'm not worried about crawl control generally if you're good with manual you don't need it and if that's system broke outside of warranty how much money would that cost to fix and it sounds like it's braking the truck when it's being used lol. But as long as you like it that's what matters + I doubt it would break but you never know. 🤷 And it's also much much easier to maintain a manual transmission than an automatic. But it's one of the more reliable trucks on the market that looks really good
@@honda116969 it's not an extra system though, it's just regular abs and traction control. It's all done through software. It's not that complicated of a system. I do miss driving a manual though. I always told myself that my next vehicle would be a stick, but when I got a taste of the adaptive cruise and the other tech I just couldn't say no. Systems like adaptive cruise and lane departure are pretty old at this point and I feel very confident they've worked out all the bugs. Only time will tell, have a good day dude.
@@heisenballs yeah I agree with you bro that's y i got sick shift and I got a 95 Integra GSR 5-speed manual I've had that almost 20 years 😂 yeah hopefully it's just a simple system & you have many years of enjoyment. Mine has Lane departure warning it beeps if I go out of my lane & it has the adaptive cruise control I can change gears & it will just take back off again but if you hold the clutch in more than like 3 seconds it deactivates the cruise control. I don't know why people always want to lift these trucks up mine doesn't give a real good ⛽ mileage and if you put those bigger tires + the lift it goes right out the 🪟... And I think the truck looks totally fine stock and you get very good handling the only thing I'm going to change is go to a 75 series 🛞 & get the Ironman AT 265/75/16 10 ply... They literally have 55% more tread than the original Goodyear Wrangler territory AT! $155 a pop can't beat them.
The Best, I'm Buyin' the Beers Tonight!
TRD pro is fine but unfortunately it doesn't include every color option, I prefer TRD off-road since it has both a manual option and every color.
But the Pro has WAY nicer wheels. It's a shame that the other trims don't offer those wheels.
Jeff how are you this is your friend Alex hoping you're having a great day have a question for you do you have any XP predators at the dealership at this present time
Hey Jeff how is the offroad vs the sport for daily driving and mostly on street.
any news on what Toyota is doing for the 2023 taco?
No clue lol seriously no clue
Mocha Vent-i Latte. That was hysterical.
Hahaha thanks!!
@@Toyotajeff I know that you must love The Princess Bride. I would be shocked if it wasn't one of your favorite movies.
TRD for You and for Meeeee….. ❤️😎🤩😃👍🇺🇸
a great new slogan
Should i buy those rims and tires for my tacoma?
I have Lunar Rock TRD Off Rd long bed with the tech package on order. I ordered it in early March. How long do you think it'll take until delivery? I know there are variables but just trying to get an idea. No allocation yet.
I am waiting on my 2022 Lunar rock as well. Short bed with the Premium package, tech pack and led headlights. I was told that mine was supposed to start being built this week but not get it till may which doesn't sound right. Normally once the order gets in to be built it takes close to a month from being just parts to being at the dealer. Due to shortages it may take a little longer.
@@LeanBackMacLove the lunar rock. Willing to wait for what I want but would accept dealer incoming Tacoma of a different color if it's gonna be 6 months. When did you leave the initial deposit and build info with your dealer?
I ordered the TRD off road in Lunar Rock as well with the advanced tech package and the dealer told me it would be 4-6 months. I found their estimated time chart on when ordered vehicles would be done and I think it said 5-6 months but now I can’t find the time chart anymore. I think if your having it delivered rather than getting it from the dealer it could be another month or two on top of that.
Me too I order TRD 4x4 off-road February till now still waiting it take too long to wait but exciting. Toyota lovers here
I ordered mine on Nov. 27th and it arrives April 27th. 5 months for mine.
My Precious 🤣🤣💀
Which vehicle is more fun.. 4Runner or Tacoma?
I like both but prefer 4Runner. How about you?
@@Toyotajeff I’m trying to decide which I want to buy… I haven’t had the pleasure of exploring with either. I am leaning more towards the 4Runner though!
I wish I would’ve bought one brand new in 2023 lol
Tacos are good trucks for sure but they are not comfortable for tall people. Feels like sitting in a lounge chair with your feel out in front of you.
The best Tacoma has a third pedal.
Mine does! 6 speed manual transmission 2022... And I deleted the accumulator that's on there so it shifts way better
Does it come undercoded from the factory how much do you have to worry about the new Toyota's rustling do you need to get them on recorded
Are you still working in NC
It’s perfect!
Does your dealer add addendums, or is that the real price?
No mark ups at your dealership?
Do they come standard with remote start
Yes.
SR5 Access cab 6cyl 6spd manual would be my choice. However, Toyota won't make that... Why not?
No hybrid tacoma yet?
Nope not quite yet
I may buy this over the trd pro. Save me $10,000
Get the SR5 Trail Edition
Is there any news on if there will be a redesign for 2023 or will Toyota wait till the 2024 model year?
2024 or 2025. Ive read that 2023 is out of the question.
@@W0RLDSSMALLESTVI0LIN I keep hearing it might come out next year or the year after guess only time will tell.
Hi there Jeff
Hey hey hey
I have one BEST TRUCK EVER 200,000 Miles.
whatchu talkin bout willis
Nice truck but horrible gas mileage-get ready $
liked for the socks
Haha thanks that is why I wear them!
Well plus they’re awesome
If only Toyota would eliminate the darker depressing colors, too much black, grey ect. And the red, army green, no bueno!
White, not!
Where is light green, Calvary blue, burnt orange, and the kacki?
Toyota should consult their customers, not the bit counters.
These are great - thanks! Call me .....OFF ROAD
no hood scoop really puts a damper on look .
Same interior man!!!!!!😣😣😣😣😣😣
Dated, dominates ????
I’m in a rental 2022 Tacoma trd off-road, this thing is the biggest pile of shit I’ve ever had the displeasure of driving. My 1995 2wd ford f150 does better in the snow and off-road.
debt is a good thing

When I was teenager
I too could NOT afford a new Tacoma!!
Proud owner!
Save your nickels and dimes kid!!
thanks Jeff... great review.
So I live in Florida and I want to go hunting/ fishing and camping will the Tacoma trd off road be best or should I be looking at the jeep gladiator willys?
You won’t be doing much hunting with your Willys because you’ll be spending your time in the repair shop . Go for the time tested tried and true Taco 🌮
I’d get a double cab with a long bed. My girlfriend says the longer the better. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Will the frame rust?
