In 2009, Tranmere Rovers appointed a new management team consisting of John Barnes as the new manager alongside his former Liverpool team mate Jason McAteer. It never really took off for the pair at Prenton Park and just a couple of months into the season the pressure was beginning to mount after a string of poor results and even the Tranmere players (allegedly) naming the two "Dumb and Dumber".
In this video, McAteer recalls the day that they were given their marching orders by reciting a funny story regarding this that hopefully they can even look back and laugh at today.
That image of the two of them at the end cramming the bike in just kills me.
That's actually funny especially when you consider it's Trigger telling the story.

Talking about Barnes, who still lives in the Wirral, he was a brilliant footballer but you don't have to be clever to be a good player - look at Gazza, George Best etc. Barnes is/was not the brightest spark, never was management material in my opinion. Johnson chose him just to have a big name in charge so he could flog the team to some Americans...
Barnes was a highly intelligent man his father was a diplomat
You can be very intelligent and not be a great manager, it is a particular way of seeing things and personality traits that allows you to be a good manager. And luck, too. There are plenty of managers who've had success despite having periods before or after that success when nothing went right for them. Circumstances and luck play a big part. But as I said, general intelligence or the lack of it doesn't decide whether you will be a good manager or not.
