I will never get sick of watching people experience Sleep Token for the first time. This is one of the best “first-time” reactions to Sleep Token I’ve ever watched. The fact that you really appreciate and emphasize lyrics and music theory from a very intelligent perspective is fantastic. You would love everything about Sleep Token. The lyrics, the vocals, the atmosphere, the callbacks, the drums… it’s all top-tier and all a must-listen. It’s impossible to recommend just one Sleep Token song. I'm heavily paraphrasing here, but in the one and only interview Vessel (The singer) ever did, he said genres are too limited for their vision, and so Sleep Token is a genre-less band that does everything and does it all extremely well. The way he said it was presented more as an open-minded "We use all the tools we have at our disposal and you can't imagine the amount of freedom that gives us with music"

Sleep Token is the first group that's ever completely laid down pain I feel and described it accurately where my words fail me. I've written poetry since I was 11 and experienced depression for the first time. I didn't understand it so I wrote and that kept me here. Lyrics that gut me like they can touch a part of my soul that no one ever sees, not even me.
Man you're the one of the reactors I found myself absolutely loving hearing from start to finish. I love that I found you, classicaly trained, to be able to have your pov. I know for a fact that we, classicaly trained, aren't special but we tend to have inspiration from everywhere and I don't know a single classical musician who doesn't love absolutely any genre if the music transcends us in any way. It might be a ballad or a heavy metal or even a club banger. Also, someone here might have said it before me because the Sleep Token fans love to spread every info possible lol, but Vessel is apparently classicaly trained too. And I personally think that we can hear it. He blends any genre, with ease and poetry and make everything work together. With some of the best melodies I've heard, some of the best Instrumentations I've heard, but most importantly some of the best song structures and lyrics I've heard. Welcome to a place where no genres exist, or at least are needed. You will find everything musically with ST but it's always working so well. Love your interpretation of eternal ascension being another form of prison. It's like in your dreams where you keep floating higher and you want to get back down but you just end up walking upside down. Giving you the oh no not again vibe..maybe that's y in the end he just screams you make me wish i could disappear coz if even his "freedom" is another prison, then he would rather just not exist? I actually like some country too, but usually more of the soulful bluesy kind. Chris Stapleton or The Marcus King Band both have some great songs I can vibe to depending on my mood. I really do appreciate music in nearly every genre.

I wish I could hear ST for the first time again. I have a hard time explaining the feeling I have when I listen to them. It’s a hollowness in my soul. It’s loneliness, sadness, confusion, fear, yearning, desperation…but in a good way. I feel connected to something larger than this life. If you go to the very beginning to EP One and go in order from One, EP Two, the singles, Sundowning, This Place will become your tomb, then Take me back to Eden then the story will make sense. Its a big story he is telling. It is the most beautiful thing i have ever heard!!!

As others have said it’s worth it to listen to their discography in order but that would be a lot of reactions! But I am here for whatever you do!

This is the band for you then because their entire discography is one long story. Beginning with EP One and ending with their song Euclid. The metaphors Vessel uses make the audience have to think about what he’s saying. Vessel can make you feel things by the music alone, the words are the icing so to speak. I recommend checking out If I’m there (unplugged) by Bad Omens
The three Sleep Token albums are a trilogy that tell the story of Vessel (the singer) and his toxic relationship with the deity known as sleep. Do yourself a favour and start from the start, even if you don't react to every song going on the journey adds a whole new level to the experience culminating in the emotional release that is Euclid. If you just want to listen to a few songs then bloodsport (from the room below), Atlantic, Sugar, Higher, The Love you Want, Granite and Take Me Back To Eden would be my suggestions. Euclid IMHO is their best song but unless you have been on the Journey you won't get it, it will be a good song but you would missing out on so, so much. Hoping you react to more sleep token, hoping even more you start at the start with The Night Does Not Belong to God. Worship!

I love watching musicians listen to sleep token. Picking apart the subtle nuisances in the music and lyrics. They just hit different than anyone I’ve come across. Please take this journey down the rabbit hole. Several people have already said start at the beginning. It’s the only way to experience what Sleep Token is.
For me this song (and a lot of Sleep Token) are a bit about a crisis of faith. This one specifically about all the inner work it takes to "ascend" and evolve, but like you said it's a bit like a prison, because it never ends and that can feel overwhelming and be a cause of doubt. Have I not done enough yet? Why am I still struggling? And it's a back and forth of wanting to be better and believing in it, but being hit with more lessons in the end.

Just to say that some of these lyrics are inaccurate and take away some of the context of the song, if you carry on with the ST journey I and many others would recommend watching the official visualiser with the lyrics pulled up 😊 As far as my interpretation (and that of many others), I feel as though this song is a story in three parts (like a 3 part tragedy) of feeling trapped, small and undervalued in a toxic relationship, being the other half’s mirror image, taking on board all of their traits, like a form of codependency. They take what they want from him and then leave, leaving him empty as he’s lost himself to the relationship and has forgotten his original self from bending to mirror what was required of him in order to feel and stay connected in the relationship. As the song progresses, Vessel discovers his value and his worth, and begins to morph into an individual, growing and strengthening his sense of self, identifying what his needs are again, striving to ascend from the grip of the relationship. There seems to be some recognition that his other half actually wants this for him too, instead of being a doormat, ‘you want the same as me’, or they want to ascend too, maybe they’re as codependent as one another. He ascends into a growth edge of knowing his worth, finding his purpose, striving to reindividualise, figure out what his wants and needs are, and overall becoming an improved version of himself. Although this sounds positive, the outro is still heavy, making me feel as though as much as he wants this, it’s still damaging as he has to leave someone behind and there’s some residual angst about the whole situation. And then it ends, really abruptly, like a full stop at the end of a chapter, cold turkey, a hard and fast goodbye. I think it’s worth noting too that the intro piano and the reprise piano are in an ascending scale, lending itself to the song immensely. This band will open up parts of you you’ve since forgotten about, and seriously question your take on mental health and relationships. Worship.
Honestly everything you said you like is sleep token. To keep things simple, I would recommend just starting from the beginning and listening to the story Vessel (the lead singer) has to tell, all three albums are a part of the same story, I’d love to see you dissect their albums!

Take Me Back To Eden and The Summoning are two more to check out. The Apparition, Euclid... I'd recommend listening to the entire discography. The last three albums are a trilogy ending with Euclid off of the Take Me Back to Eden album. Ascencionism might very well be my favorite song.. period. No matter how many times I've heard this I still get chills. The lyrics, "You make me wish I could disappear" hit me because I've known that feeling.
YES! I fully endorse you going through all three of their albums in order because it tells a complete story. However, if you're looking to bounce around. You NEED to do Take Me Back to Eden next or The Summoning.
A band that I adore who I don’t think get enough air time are a post hardcore band called Casey from South Wales, UK. Sadboicore, extremely vulnerable lyrics diving into mental health, love, loss, Tom’s (vocalist) debilitating illness when younger and his struggles from the past and present. His voice is dynamic, the lyrics are sad and heavy but beautiful in a way, less metaphors than Sleep Token, but just as impactful. Check out ‘Unique Lights’, ‘Great Grief’ or ‘Ceremony’ would be my top 3 off the top of my head 👌🏼
If you want dynamic music that is insanely well written and makes you feel then you chose the right band. You honestly need to go through the whole discography. It’s a single story told over several albums and it’s just genius. All of it. Worship 🤘🏼🖤

I feel like most sleep token songs are very cinematic. One of my favourite bits about this one is the split second during "Rose gold chains" where everything drops to show you just how much they had layered in to that point. It's also crazy how well they transition from heavy to piano like it was always supposed to be there. Nice react, hope you do more, but pull up some recent lyrics and watch the visualiser or film clips. That lyric vid had a few errors

The metaphors Vessel uses make the audience have to think about what he’s saying. Vessel can make you feel things by the music alone, the words are the icing so to speak.

The three Sleep Token albums are a trilogy that tell the story of Vessel (the singer) and his toxic relationship with the deity known as sleep. Do yourself a favour and start from the start, even if you don't react to every song going on the journey adds a whole new level to the experience culminating in the emotional release that is Euclid. If you just want to listen to a few songs then bloodsport (from the room below), Atlantic, Sugar, Higher, The Love you Want, Granite and Take Me Back To Eden would be my suggestions. Euclid IMHO is their best song but unless you have been on the Journey you won't get it, it will be a good song but you would missing out on so, so much. Hoping you react to more sleep token, hoping even more you start at the start with The Night Does Not Belong to God. Worship!

Being in love with someone and accepting the crumbs they give you be cause the love is so much but finally turning the tables. Ascending above the settling for less and loving themselves finally. I love watching musicians listen to sleep token. Picking apart the subtle nuisances in the music and lyrics. They just hit different than anyone I’ve come across. Please take this journey down the rabbit hole. Several people have already said start at the beginning. It’s the only way to experience what Sleep Token is.
For me this song (and a lot of Sleep Token) are a bit about a crisis of faith. This one specifically about all the inner work it takes to "ascend" and evolve, but like you said it's a bit like a prison, because it never ends and that can feel overwhelming and be a cause of doubt. Have I not done enough yet? Why am I still struggling? And it's a back and forth of wanting to be better and believing in it, but being hit with more lessons in the end.
From what you described you like about music .. "Take Me Back to Eden" is DEFINITELY the next song for you!!

Just to say that some of these lyrics are inaccurate and take away some of the context of the song, if you carry on with the ST journey I and many others would recommend watching the official visualiser with the lyrics pulled up 😊
As far as my interpretation (and that of many others), I feel as though this song is a story in three parts (like a 3 part tragedy) of feeling trapped, small and undervalued in a toxic relationship, being the other half’s mirror image, taking on board all of their traits, like a form of codependency. They take what they want from him and then leave, leaving him empty as he’s lost himself to the relationship and has forgotten his original self from bending to mirror what was required of him in order to feel and stay connected in the relationship. As the song progresses, Vessel discovers his value and his worth, and begins to morph into an individual, growing and strengthening his sense of self, identifying what his needs are again, striving to ascend from the grip of the relationship. There seems to be some recognition that his other half actually wants this for him too, instead of being a doormat, ‘you want the same as me’, or they want to ascend too, maybe they’re as codependent as one another. He ascends into a growth edge of knowing his worth, finding his purpose, striving to reindividualise, figure out what his wants and needs are, and overall becoming an improved version of himself. Although this sounds positive, the outro is still heavy, making me feel as though as much as he wants this, it’s still damaging as he has to leave someone behind and there’s some residual angst about the whole situation. And then it ends, really abruptly, like a full stop at the end of a chapter, cold turkey, a hard and fast goodbye.
I think it’s worth noting too that the intro piano and the reprise piano are in an ascending scale, lending itself to the song immensely.
This band will open up parts of you you’ve since forgotten about, and seriously question your take on mental health and relationships. Worship.
Honestly everything you said you like is sleep token. To keep things simple, I would recommend just starting from the beginning and listening to the story Vessel (the lead singer) has to tell, all three albums are a part of the same story, I’d love to see you dissect their albums!

A band that I adore who I don’t think get enough air time are a post hardcore band called Casey from South Wales, UK. Sadboicore, extremely vulnerable lyrics diving into mental health, love, loss, Tom’s (vocalist) debilitating illness when younger and his struggles from the past and present. His voice is dynamic, the lyrics are sad and heavy but beautiful in a way, less metaphors than Sleep Token, but just as impactful. Check out ‘Unique Lights’, ‘Great Grief’ or ‘Ceremony’ would be my top 3 off the top of my head 👌🏼

If you want dynamic music that is insanely well written and makes you feel then you chose the right band. You honestly need to go through the whole discography. It’s a single story told over several albums and it’s just genius. All of it. Worship 🤘🏼🖤

I gotta say.. that's the first 4-minute intro I've never skipped.
I feel like most sleep token songs are very cinematic.
One of my favourite bits about this one is the split second during "Rose gold chains" where everything drops to show you just how much they had layered in to that point.
It's also crazy how well they transition from heavy to piano like it was always supposed to be there.
Nice react, hope you do more, but pull up some recent lyrics and watch the visualiser or film clips. That lyric vid had a few errors

If you want sad you should definitely check out their song "blood sport" it has two versions, a live one with just the singer and a piano called "from the room below"(which is the version i prefer) or they have the studio version of it with more instruments.
