I wonder if Oath of Devotion is impacted in some regard here if you give up Scratch, or return him. Scratch is, by all accounts not your dog. Mar'hyah is the owner of Scratch and animals are legally recognized as property to people. If a Paladin has to be dedicated to the Law, they may have to return Scratch regardless of their bond.

You aren’t telling her a full lie (hell you’re not even starting down that road to begin with), and even then there is no contractual promise between you to return Scratch to her.

It makes so much sense to take care of Scratch on a Dark Urge playthrough. Like feeling compassion for another creature actually brings some humanity back to your twisted soul.
The ONLY reason I didn't kill her there, was cos I didn't wanted the dogs to see that lvl of violence, but honestly, this woman is the most evil character in the whole game
She has some balls. She demands you give her the dog, acts like she has the moral high ground, tells you to leave. All while doing so in BALDURS GATE to a GROUP of heavily armed adventurers. The city known for adventurers and corruption. How the hell she isnt dead before you get there is beyond me.

That sort of feelings will lead to loads of trouble later if you're young because if you hurt animals (and it is likely that you will), you will go to prison. Doing a Durge play through, I know it won't be because it'd be to long but I wish there was an intimidation option that basically goes. "Yeah, I feel it fair to inform you who you are speaking to. I'm a Bhaalspawn, son of the god of murder, not proud of it, honestly its like letting a psychopathic mass murderer lease out my upstairs skull space. I know I get annoyed at my larger dog for being possessive and either bullying or attacking my other dog but she’s fucked up. My dog also bluff charges the cats if they’re shown affection around her
I usually watch options people say they would never do, and enjoy them as I love being in the minority 😂 But in this case, I'm a proud member of the majority and would never give up Scratch :)

I "accidentally" killed the two after they witnessed me murder the post master guy who wanted his letters back. Why? because the quest wasnt updating even after getting the letters. Turns out killing one of them was worth it, the other... rip-
This is in the same bulpark of evil as redeeming Shadowheart and then giving her away to Viconia. It's one thing to be unapologetically evil, but betraying someone who believed in you and that you arguably believed in as well? It's impressive that the option exists but hells, no one is picking that outside of pure douchebagery. Hell it's even worse than with Shadowheart because she's quick to realize you've betrayed her, this is pure agony awaiting for Scratch like... wow.
I'm not saying this option shouldn't be in the game, but I am saying that discovering this option made me actually cry, and just seeing this video I Iooked up on my own accord showcasing both options made me so irrationally angry I almost left a dislike. The writers really did an insane job making you emotionally invested in this game's world.
