Director Hideaki Anno lovingly paid homage to this opening sequence, not only with the opening titles for Neon Genesis Evangelion (hard cuts, focus on character close ups, flashes of text and captions), but also the trailer for Shin Godzilla. The editing, even after all these years, is original and very distinct.

I'm not so sure it would benefit, the charm of this programne for me is the superb model work. We all knew they were models but that didnt matter, the sum total carried it. I think quality model work would be too expensive now so it would be done with CGI and that rarely works well.
I eagerly watched the rebooted Thunderbirds and was HUGELY disappointed, everything that made the original brilliant, was replaced by CGI. I feel sorry for children today who didnt see Space Patrol, Dr. Who with William Hartnell, Supercar, Stingray, Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet and UFO (I never saw Joe 90, was abroad). One thing to be said about Gerry Anderson was the production values of his show were always consistent. I didn’t know about UFO until the early 2000s, or that Space: 1999 was an indirect continuation of the series, but season one of Space: 1999 always had fond memories for me as a kid 🧒. That show had such a sense of awe and wonder about it and Barry Gray’s music was fantastic.
