That is what impresses me so much about him. He has Heifetz level technical perfection, or maybe even a little better, without the coldness typically associated with ultra-technical violinists. Great interpretation backed by PERFECT technique has vaulted him to my favorite violinist.
The way Hadelich finds musical insights is amazing. During some pieces, he finds areas in which to alter certain bowings or fingerings from the norm that leads to an effect that strays from convention, but offers this innovative approach that enhances the effect of the passage. In this performance, he replaces some of the articulated up eighth strokes that recite the main motif into slurred ones, but only on the ones toward the diminishing phrase. The result is this elegance and dying off effect that is otherworldly in sound, producing an interpretation, just by that alone, that is instantly recognizable. But, you don’t even need to get to that part to recognize that it's Hadelich playing. His vibrato on the first note alone tells you boldly who it is. All of this happens before you get to the piu allegro part, slash the dreaded last two pages… Insane in difficulty and speed, these pages reign in their infamy among the showpieces in the violin repertoire. Ok, they are not that bad, but try to play them with Hadelich’s tempo and clarity!
I admire Augustin. I am always mesmerized watching his extreme delicacy holding the bow. It feels like if he was holding a feather, yet he plays every single passage with the required strength. Similar also, moving fingers up and down over finger board, how gracile! No one else can play so elegant.
Augustin is living history. He is the best ever. I thought I would never listen to someone playing (in my opinion) better than Heifetz, Milstein, Oistrakh, etc, etc, but he is the one
@@crypto796 I don't think one should limit his admiration of art and drastically "erase" great names in the inmense spectrum of fabulous artists. Each great artist may have a twitch of genius you may like. Keep on the watch.
Achaemenius plus the fact he is this good despite suffering fire injuries is soooo inspiring. Like I suffer no injuries but I will never be as good of a musician as he is.
What we have witnessed here is a living testament as to why Mr Hadelich is unique among the elite violin artists in the world today. Many play this often-heard standard of the violin repertoire, but very few “move the needle” and bring new insights, colors, or phrasing. Mr Hadelich’s avoids the cliches that have accumulated over time and brings us back to the original Gallic charm, grace, and sparkle of this piece. Hats off again to Mr Hadelich! Thank you!
Yes, Augustin is such a great communicator of the essence of the dance, the song, the soul and spirit of the music, as well as the technique. Just when I thought I had grown tired of listening to myself practice during this awful Lockdown, along comes Augustin to inspire and reinvigorate. Thanks Augustin....just off to have another look at this piece and change a few fingerings and bowings....he has certainly moved my needle!

AUGUSTIN is even more soul than a scholar....and that is RARE. So many "virtuosos" lose their love somewhere along the way and end up sounding like they've played it 1000 times (yawn). Augustin makes it sound like candid, spontaneous splendor every time I hear him play.. like the music was being written just as he was playing it.
