Just like Heifetz set a new standard of violin playing for the 20th century, Hadelich has set a new standard for the 21st century. This rendition of the Scherzo Tarantella is one for the ages!
It's certainly not a new standard. Violinist have reached such skill and perfection. Hadelich is absolutely amazing, but there sure have been others like him.
When ever Heifetz is mentioned, for some individuals, the comparative is always sacrilege. Heifetz was a phenomenal violinist, outstanding, but when it comes to classical masterpieces, great music, he is not the best. Because even in a Mozart concerto, his style and virtuosity are an outrage. His Brahms or Beethoven display horrible and unsuited cadenzas. His rendition of Bach musically speaking his nonsense. But still, of course, Heifetz is great. Here Hadelich really gives an outstanding rendition of Scherzo Tarantella. Very expressive, as valuable as the young Menuhin rendition or any Heifetz takes...
HANDS DOWN, this is the BEST recording of this piece on UA-cam. That he accompanied himself is making my brain explode. Thank you! What kind of beautiful world do we live in where we get to hear this incredible music even during a pandemic.
Every cloud has a silver lining, and discovering Mr Hadelich's recordings during lockdown is one example. He is giving Julia Fischer a serious run for her money as a pianist too.
His technique and decisiveness of each motion reminds me of Leonid Kogan. Indeed the top 1 percentile of the greatest violinists of this century! Julliard's pride!
I don’t know. Augustin’s certainly was very clear just in the torrent of crazy notes and thoughtful in its phrasing, and it was generally very clean, which certainly is appealing. That girl just had some elements that made this piece so much more Romantically beautiful in other ways.
I am listening to this as a comparison to her (Natsuho Murata), coming from Heifetz. I prefer Hadelich over Heifetz. Murata isn't a great master yet, it would be ridiculous to expect, but actually she makes the most of the passage with the harmonics of these three! Now I will go on to Vengerov. I will not be surprised if Murata will be my favourite in 15-20 years or so....
As I get older, the more i appreciate different interpretations. When I was younger I’d always have a bias for the first interpretation of a piece that I heard that I liked. Now it’s like a different story teller telling the same story. There’s something new I can enjoy.
What an amazing musician. The only criticism is that he makes the piece look easy to perform. In reality, there are only a handful of musicians in the world that can play at this level. This is extraordinary and amazing. Bravo!
Anyone who goes through college for violin performance could easily perform this piece. It’s a showpiece - flashy, and difficult, but nowhere near impossibly so. The piece falls remarkably naturally under the fingers.
@@minh-khanguyen7209 Being able to hack through it and play it like this are two completely different things. Most college violin majors can only hack through it on a level that's painful to listen to.
One of the only good things about this quarantine... we are able to watch a living legend record videos that will undoubtedly always be benchmark performances. Wow
Augustin, it is truly a delight to listen to your music. Your extreme attention to detail and passion manifests in every note that you play. You’re my inspiration!💓💓💓
Piano man? Both Violin and piano part was played Hadelich himself, also Page Turner. Hadelich is also a Pianist. Only person in this recording is Hadelich, no one others.
Augustin, since you and Julia Fisher are both fluent on piano and violin, could you please consider maybe doing some pieces together? All permutations and combinations of those instruments, including pieces for 4 hands or 2 pianos, and violin duos?
Where do I start? Your cleanliness, precision, clear spiccato, intelligent and varied vibrato, your... I can't stop with the compliments. You are seriously one of my favorite violinists ever!
Love the accelerandos, love the intensity of the arrivals on the open G and D, love the sonorities way up G and D, love the singing suspensions high on the E. What better way to discover what a good Del Gesu can do? I don't know how you can get it to speak so fast. Magnificent!
@@justusvm355 typically a suspension in music theory would be a tone carrying over from one chord to the next, included in the first chord but not belonging in the second (confusing? Sorry)... example: C chord with C, E, G, as chord tones is played, then the E from the C chord is held or carried through to the next chord, I.E. a G chord, (chord tones G, B, D), therefore, E would not belong in the G chord but would be suspended from the previous C chord. In this person's comment, I'm not sure what they meant precisely, but this is the music theory definition (albeit written quite confusingly I apologize 😂)
WOW...WOW Augustine! You make your violin "SING" like no one else can, especially on this very challenging Wieniawski piece. Totally "TRANSCENDING" performance that is "UNIQUELY" Augustin. Our dream of hearing you perform this awesome piece has become a reality. :-)
Hi Augustin Hadelich! The piece Wieniawski tarantelle was wonderfully played! This is the best style that I have ever heard so far. I've never heard anyone play this piece better than you! I hope that you will keep on posting videos of you playing the violin. You are a very intelligent person because you even know how accompany yourself on the piano...like dude.....?! You are definitely one of the best violinists of today!
Thank you , Mr. Hadelich for this video! I think I have watched it over and over countless times as I was learning this piece. I love your phrasing, especially in the lyrical passages… It has helped me so much to listen to your recording almost daily.
Congrats Augustine. That was absolutely awesome! And I’ve become a huge fan of yours. Thanks very much for sharing your music. And your piano accompaniment is just as awesome to boot. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Hadelich is in my opinion one of the very best players of today. Maybe the best. Not compromising, he reminds me of Francescatti, Kogan, Ricci, and all the others. For me it is going back to my younger years.
Who plays like this ? Hadelich ! Absolutely astounding. That there are not 200 m views for this video when some cute cat warrants a billion views is a tragedy of the times we live in.
Per me questa è una interpretazione super. Mi è piaciuta molto la foga iniziale che mette una grande carica nell'ascoltatore, ho visto una grande maestria negli arpeggi. Complimenti veramente, grande musicista.
One of my favorite pieces! I love the sound of this new performance compared to the old Heifetz recording. Hopefully another version showing the amazing shifts up and down the fingerboard will be produced in future so we can also feast our eyes while listening to this great performance.
He is even able to accompany HIMSELF on the piano... Like dude
Julia Fischer also performs concerts for piano and others for violin
Also I am 88th like and pianos have 88 keys lol
At the same TIME!!!
Who's Dude and how does he do that?😝
Totally hehehhe
You forgot to add: Augustin Hadelich, page turner.
Victor M. Lee great comment!
LoL good idea
ha lol
😂
Milstein always shook the hand of his page turner. Hadelich should too 😁

I think Augustin is better than Heifetz. Both brilliant of course but Augustin’s intonation is better in my opinion.
I love how Augustin manages to put the perfect amount of vibrato on the last note of each phrase of the theme. It makes all the difference.
Absolutely
Fabulous! These Augustin² recordings as well as the Ask Augustin masterclasses are the highlights of my quarantine time.
Me too!
Twoset
Twoset !!
Twoset❤😊
I literally applauded when it was done. Sorry to my neighbors at 1am, but that was absolutely fantastic. Thank you so much, Augustin!
I do the same
So clean and pure.
The violin is an extension of his body.
The violin is him, unseparateble
Wieniawski is so underrated by non-violinists. His melodies are like flawless brilliant diamonds, reflecting emotion like light!
His melodies are also as hard to get as diamonds

He’s my favorite of his generation for sure.
This pieces always reminds me that Japanese prodigy girl that 2 set reviewed. Even though this recording is a totally different level.

Best Interpretation ive heared of this piece. Super. Bravo
Your musicianship is very personal. I love it. thank you.
