Here in Germany I watch a TV channel
co-produced by Germany, Switzerland and Austria called 3Sat - the three predominantly German speaking countries
My joke is that Austria which has a LOT of the Alps in it
ALWAYS has raining symbols all over it.
I call it österreichisches Wetter (Austrian weather) and I have an umbrella from Linz as well!
Basically trapped in between high mountains / hills - you get LOTS of rain.
My trip on the Fløibanen was slightly marred by the low cloud and rain LOL.
BTW I think Shakespeare was from Bergen really as he wrote:
"For the rain it raineth every day" ! LOL

Hi there, there is a beautiful replica of a Stave Church there. The previous one burned down, and it was rebuilt. It's called Fantoft Stavkirke. You can take Bybanen (the metro) to the stop Fantoft, and then there's a short walk from there.

Hopefully we will be in Bergen this summer. Is there a specific restaurant to go our is it best to just go to the seafood market to try local delicacies? We have 2 days in Bergen, would you recommend spending our time there or doing a day trip?

    •  2 роки тому

Hei Allen, I've had seafood a couple of times at Restaurant Fjellskål, it's pricey, but the quality is real good! It's just next to the outdoor fish market. Enhjørningen on Bryggen is also a nice fish restaurant.
You can easily spend two days in Bergen seeing all the museums, walking around in the city, going up on Mount Fløyen etc. An option is to do a day trip out to Griegs house, the famous composer. Tours depart every day around noon.
If you are not into Grieg you can also do a one day fjord cruise. Norway in a Nutshell round trip Bergen, or another type of tour taking you on the Sogne fjord. Enjoy!

    •  2 роки тому

Hei Ingrid, the Sognefjord is not so far from Bergen. You can take a train to Voss, and a bus from there to Gudvangen. From Gudvangen you can do a fjord cruise to Flåm. There are also ferries going out of Bergen taking you to Balestrand for instance.
There is no ferry to Copenhagen, but there is a ferry between Bergen and Hirtshals. You can find price and time schedule here: www.fjordline.com/en

I grew up in the small "town", of Bergen, Minnesota, USA. About 32 population when I lived there so not really a town but we had a bar, gas station, coop store for groceries, and an auto/tractor repair shop. Integration in SW Minnesota meant getting the Norwegians, Swedes, and Germans to work together.

Hello. Do you live in Bergen? I believe the funicular is currently closed. I'll be there in two weeks, was curious if it is allowed (and safe) to hike up Mt Floyen in the dark?

    •  2 роки тому

Hi there, yes I believe it is closed now. No problem to do the hike in the dark. I would have done it. But probably smart to bring a flashlight just in case :)

Great video! Thanks to the author of the channel for this fascinating video! It is interesting to see how people live in other countries! It is very important to know foreign languages on such trips. I would like to recommend to all travelers a practical guide to learning foreign languages by Yuriy Ivantsiv "Polyglot Notes. Practical tips for learning foreign languages". This book contains a lot of useful tips on how to learn a foreign language for tourists, students, entrepreneurs and anyone who needs a foreign language in life. There are a lot of good tips on how to solve problems with the language from beginner to advanced level of language learning. It turns out that the traveler only needs to know a few dialogues and you can easily travel around the world! You don't have to spend a lot of time to fully learn a foreign language, you just need to learn what you can use when you travel. I wish everyone exciting travels!

Hei! We’re planning on heading to Bergen in March. Do you know what the mask mandated are like currently in Norway? I haven’t seen any masks in the video. Are they not required?

    •  2 роки тому +1

Hey there! Right now there is a general recommendation to wear a mask indoors if you can't keep a 1 meter distance. Some places it is prohibited (it'll say on the door). But to be honest, recommendations are changing so fast now it'll for sure be totally different when you come in March. If Omicron continues to be the dominant variant I don't think there will be any mandate for masks in March. Most of our regulations will probably go away next week :)

I would Visit Bergen. Odda is a nicer town than Flåm. Flåm is basically a place you go just to catch the fjord ferry

@ I'm totally surprised that there is practically nothing between Oslo and Bergen. The empties is overwhelming, reminds me of America's South-West. I'm also very surprised by haw conservative Norway is. I was expecting for Bergen to be a miniature London :))), when in reality it looks and gives the impression as nothing happens in Bergen, and the city got stack in the 1920. It isn't necessary a bead thing, it is very unexpected. BTW, if you try truffle salt on your potato or egg salad, it will take it to the next level. It is expensive, but it is worth every penny.

    •  Рік тому +2

@@rebuzz6866 Truffle salt, that is noted! Chives is also good.. Norway is the least populated country in Europe, so vast areas of basically nothing, except for an abundance of hytter (cabins) and moose :)

0:47 Women should not steal the clothes from the men, leaving them standing naked... Also, blue is mostly associated with men colors and not woman colors. So, what is going on in the head of the artist who created this, or is it the organisation/management of this art exposition and are that men or women or is it mixed?🤔
